Rise of the Elemental Guardians

Session 1: The shining city in shadow

Eldoria, 5571, Equilibriuma, Luminara, Dawn Square

Under the radiant daylight, the city of Luminara flourished with life and vibrancy. Its streets bustled with merchants, performers, and locals going about their daily routines. The city was renowned for its grandeur and diversity, attracting visitors from far and wide.

On this particular day, the sun shone brilliantly overhead, casting a warm golden glow upon the city. The air was filled with the aroma of blooming flowers and the sounds of laughter and music. Luminara's beauty and prosperity seemed unmatched, a haven of peace and prosperity.

Amidst the backdrop of bustling streets, we find four individuals thay found themselves drawn to Luminara for different reasons. Unbeknownst to them, their paths were about to intertwine in an unexpected and profound way.

Maldus, Dwarf, Cleric, Sailor. In the city to explore new places, hear and tell stories, taste different beers, he finds himself in the Golden Goblet. He talks to the barmaid Kiera and tries her homemade merchant meal. It's delicious, and he orders more. He attempts to converse with the grumpy owner, Rowntree, but he shows no interest. Afterward, he sits down with a group of young men discussing a lady they've met. Maldus tells them an epic, not entirely true story that they wholeheartedly believe. "A dog comes home with a dirty, dead rabbit in its mouth. The dog's owner recognizes, to his shock, that it's the neighbour's rabbit. He thinks his dog killed it. The man cleans the rabbit with soapy water and dries its fur. In the evening, he places the bunny back in its hutch at the neighbour's. He hopes the neighbors will assume their pet died naturally. Shortly after, the neighbour comes to tell him what happened: their rabbit had died, and they had buried it in the garden. A few days later, it was back in its hutch" The young men were so impressed that they started sharing the story, and that it would be likely songs about it would be sung!

Oxi, High Elf, Druid, Outlander. In the city for supplies. After his home tribe in Galea was burned down by orcs, he had been alone, but now his supplies were running out. He had sneaked onto a boat, Maldus' boat, to get to the city. Once in the city, he didn't feel comfortable amidst the crowds and various races, initially choosing to sit under a tree. After a while, he ventured into the bustling marketplace in search of supplies.

Nieven, High Elf, Sorcerer, Lord Noble. In the city with a partial map, searching for his love. Hopefully, someone could tell him more. His family from Aureline Crest disapproved of the relationship. On Dawn Square, he seeks someone who can help decipher the map, a clue to where his love might be. He found a stall selling roses that could never wither; they were actually cards. The stall owner didn't recognize the map but tried to swindle him to buy one but in the end failed and directed him to the bookstore. There, a gnome behind the counter recognized it as an old map of a castle and sold him a map her brother Neal had made of the continent.

Tav, Tiefling, Warlock, Hermit. In the city in search of what her vision showed. Banished from Misthaven to Ebonreach Isle, she lived alone, studying the island's magic. She had a vision of an unknown patron of Luminara in the darkness, terrible things, and three individuals. Two high elves and a dwarf. She had to find them. Upon arriving at Dawn Square, she avoided the crowds until she spotted a high elf who resembled one of the two.

Tav wasn't the only one who noticed the high elf Nieven. Oxi had also seen him and, as one of the few other high elves, felt a sense of trust. Meanwhile, Tav recognized Oxi as well and loudly exclaimed, "I know you!" She began running toward Oxi, who was startled and ran toward the only familiar thing he had seen so far, the other high elf entering the bookstore. Just before he could open the door, the strange tiefling tried to grab him. He ducked in time, and Tav stumbled but managed to stay on her feet. At that moment, the bookstore door opened, and Nieven was about to step out. Confused by the situation, Nieven directed the trio to the Golden Goblet to find out what was happening.

They took a seat next to a dwarf who was telling grand stories and wes treated to more beers. Tav recognized the dwarf; he was also in her vision. She pointed and called out to him. After an interruption and an awkward, uneasy conversation with the barmaid, the dwarf also joined them. Tav shared her vision. The others were sceptical but convinced she wasn't lying.

Nieven also took the opportunity to inquire about the map from the others. They could tell him it was from the Age of Warring Kingdoms, depicted a castle, and was on this continent, but not a precise location.

At that moment, it began to get dark, which Kiera, the barmaid, found strange. Suddenly, an unease spread, and Maldus was the first to go outside. Oxi and tav followed. Nieven first made sure the people inside stayed and the door was closed before following. They saw two hooded figures making hand gestures and whispering. It grew even darker, and they realized it was a solar eclipse. Suddenly, two shadows appeared on the square, and the hooded figures ran toward the Tower of Eternity.

Maldus attacked the shadows, Nieven shouted for people on the square to flee, Tav joined the fight and tried to jump onto a rooftop but hit a wall, and Oxi pursued the hooded figures, causing one to step into a hunting trap. He subdued one and handed them over to a guard, Captain Roderick. The other had hidden in the darkness and was lost. All they knew was that something was heard heading toward the Tower of Eternity.

Hi folks, I'm Mad. I'm mostly just here to vibe with whatever fandom is on my mind at any given moment. My main ones are Rise of the Guardians, Big Hero 6/the series, and Tales of Arcadia, but I go in for Encanto, Ducktales (2017), Tangled/the series, Elemental, and crossovers like The Big 4/ROTBTD and the Futuristic Four. I play video games such as Skyrim and Baldur's Gate 3. Casually, for enjoyment. I will yeet my thoughts at you and I cannot guarantee I will do more than that. Sometimes there will be art maybe.

Mahina, Rise of the Guardians. Clever, calm most of the time but prone to anxiety, sharp-minded, and reserved. Very genuine sort. She's into Jack Frost, like most things on Tumblr are.

McKenzie Jamesson, Big Hero 6. Quick-witted, fascinated by brains, caring, protective. All she really wants is to give and tell her loved ones all the amazing things they deserve. And also to use force fields to make them all safer. She's a cinammon roll. And a big ol Hiro Hamada simp.

Cara Okhrana, Tales of Arcadia, noblewoman of Akiridion-5 and sworn protector of Krel Tarron. She grew up on earth from age 6 on, and has self-esteem issues due to only vaguely recalling the way that Akiridions consider honor- and thinking other Akiridions, if they could ever find her, would believe she'd failed her oath to House Tarron. She's fierce, outgoing, tactical, sassy and sarcastic, but only really emotionally opens to a handful of close, trusted people. Cara Williams is her human disguise name. Also she's into Krel, but no way in heck is she bold enough to tell him. She sees the way he acts about romance. She's not that stupid.

Brook Ripple Jr., Elemental, named after her aunt (Wade's mother, I believe). Wade's cousin, as introverted as water gets. Emotional as any of her family, though in more of a stressed depressed lemon zest way. And dating fire runs in the family.

Madeleine "Mad" Corr, Ducktales. Eldest of ten, chaotic, a bit sketchy- imagine Louie but more emotionally genuine, and instead of a good liar she can pick locks, and she genuinely loves the thrill of stealing stuff over the payoff. She talks Louie out of his truly terrible ideas, only to offer more practical alternatives.

Betania Madrigal, Encanto. My brain said, "Hey, they never told us if Bruno was ever married in the past" and so I came up with idea that he was, his wife left the Encanto 17 years prior to the movie for her own protection, and whoops she was pregnant and now he's got a long lost daughter. She's shy and uncertain but sweet and smart and oh gosh that's such a Y/N description... anyway. Stuttery clumsy baby who just wants to get to know her long-lost dad and figure out how to control her new ability to go into/change people's dreams.

Aelvy, Tangled the Series. Once a dryad, she gave up her tree and longevity to experience the full range of human emotion.

Long story short, for the most part they're just normal people in weird universes who just wanna be loved.

Maybe she's an Undertide now, either with her memories intact, or for angst, broken memories, as her big brother has her pearl last time we heard from them!

Maybe they find each other and became mates, maybe Aron is her brother's charge, maybe he went on his charge search early because their father went mad trying to get ANYTHING out of the Tidelord, maybe she came home to help her aging father out at their temple.

She could potentially have Primal eyes too, especially with the vials!

hello (one of the) resident phannie data analyst(s) here with some parasocial stats on dnp’s movie tastes! following: distribution of dan and phil's ratings overall, movies they each rated 5 stars, their lowest-rated movies, and the similarities + differences in their tastes

(lore moment: yes i am a data analyst in my real job. yes i surprised myself with wanting to do this in my spare time. but then i remembered when we read dracula in college (yes i was an english major) and i graphed like, how many times dracula was referred to as vampire versus monster or something. so i shouldn’t be surprised.

first up, their overall rating patterns and by ~special status~ (i.e., wall-e, kill bill, avatar, lmao, plus big hero 6 for the fun of it)

dan’s rated 304 movies and phil’s rated 305. both of them have mean and median ratings of 4 with min 1 and max 5.

both rated kill bill vols. 1 and 2 a 5. wall-e got a 4.5 from dan and a 4 from phil (phake phans). both gave avatar a 3.5. and big hero 6 3.5 (dan) and 4.5 (phil)

rating distribution:

i did analyses here by genre but i need to fix the output (i’m writing all of these based on the markdown document from my phone on the subway, but i need to fix the outputs and i don’t have my computer. so those are pending but there are other genre analyses that i could do & haven’t yet!)

AU with so much going on, so many elements to keep you hooked...There's many chapters too, so if you're into something rich and lengthy to read, this is ideal! 💙 "Tough as Nails" by sixerstanley. If you enjoy intense, deep exploration of the Stans' feelings, thoughts and relationship, you'll love this one! There's so much tension, and then tenderness, it's such a great read.

💜 "stay (it doesn't have to hurt)" again by calciseptine. Okay, this one doesn't actually get to any Stancest, as it stops at chapter one, but is SO GOOD. Especially if, like me, you love drifter Stan, you should read it. It's just that good.

🖤 "The Pull Of You" by an orphaned account, sadly. The way they're written as teenagers here is so authentic and natural. The intimacy, the tension, the desire, the daily rituals.... Pretty great read, but get ready for the heartbreak at the end.

The world outside your window seemed to be a canvas smeared with dreary shades of gray, punctuated only by the occasional flurry of chaos. Yet, amidst the motonamy, there was an anomaly—a shadow that stood on the edge of your vision, always lingering just beyond the glass. A dark figure, angelic in its unsettling beauty, seemed to mock the very essence of serenity that you had perfected. It was a presence that defied logic, a specter that made you question your own sanity. Perhaps it was your mind’s last cruel joke, or maybe the universe had decided that even in your indifference, it would not spare you the bitterness of its absurdity.

The whispers of the townsfolk tagged you as ruthless, as though your calm demeanor was a veneer for some intrinsic malevolence. They spoke of you as a creature driven by some dark, unquenchable thirst—a malignant force wrapped in the guise of human frailty.

Your days were spent in a monotonous ritual of existence, where each moment bled into the next with the predictability of a metronome. The only disturbances were the fleeing glances of that figure outside your window. He was always there—an angel of darkness, a haunting silhouette that seemed to feed on your isolation.

One evening, as you lay in bed staring at the ceiling, a soft knock echoed through the room.

Rising from your bed, you approached the door. The darkness of the hallway seemed to pulse with an almost palpable energy, and as you opened it, you were greeted by the very entity that had haunted your peripheral vision.

There hs was, in all his grotesque splendor—a being of celestial gracd twisted into a mockery of divine perfection. His eyes, deep and infinite, seemed to hold the weight of the countless secrets.

You instantly slammed the door in his face and locked it, fully. Whipping around, your cold hand clutched your heart, feeling how fast it beat. He was here, in your home.

“My little lamb,” He called out, his tone smooth and almost tender. “You look so lonely here. I thought I could keep you some company.”

“Who are you.” You whispered, yet your voice was loud enough for the alternate to hear.

A soft knock on your door again. “I am someone who cares about you, sweet child. You have been so isolated, so neglected. I am here to make sure you are never alone again.”

“Shh,” He interrupted, the sound of nails scraping on your wooden door. “You do need me. And I need you. We are bound by something far deeper than you can comprehend. Let me show you how much you are cherished.”

You heard a knock again, though this time louder.

“You are so special to me. I know the world has been cruel, and I understand you have felt abandoned. But here, with me, you are safe. You are loved. Open the door.”

Your heart pounded loudly, almost a melody for the alternate. That was the most you felt alive. “No, I don’t—”

A soft persistent banging on your door interrupted you. “Please, do not shut me out. I am here for you, lovely. You do not have to be alone anymore.” He pleaded melodically, his voice breathy yet menacing. It almost made you give in.

The pounding grew louder, more insistent. You could almost feel your body going numb, your eyes widening.

“Let me in, sweet child. You deserved to be loved. I can make all the pain disappear. Just trust me.”

Each word was punctuated with a heavy thud. Your pulse quickened, your resolve wavering. For a moment, you considered running and climbing out the window—calling for help, doing anything to escape this monster trying to break through.

But then the banging stopped.

Silence.

“Please,” came the voice once more, soft now, almost vulnerable. “I don’t want to hurt you. I only want to take care of you, precious dove. I have been with you for so long now... Have you not felt it? The comfort in the chaos? Let me in, and I will show you what love truly feels like.”

Your fingers hovered over the lock. The door felt too thin. The air seemed too heavy.

“You don’t have to be alone anymore. You don’t have to pretend to be all right.” His voice was coaxing, a subtle promise threaded through every word.

You swallowed thickly, your thoughts tangled into a mess. This wasn’t real. None of this was real. And yet... the loneliness, the isolation that had haunted you for years whispered back, telling you how right it sounded. How good it would feel to finally stop pretending. To let someone care.

Against every rational thought screaming in your head, you turned the lock with your eyes closed. The door clicked open.

And then he was inside.

Gabriel gently pushed your head to his chest, cradling it like it was fragile. His bony thumb stroked your hair ever so slowly, and gently. For the first time

“I will take care of you now, and you will never feel lonely again.” He cooed, his fingers the outline of your cheek, sending shivers down your spine. Your body trembled, yet you couldn't pull away.

The warmth of his voice seeped into you, and though you knew, somewhere deep down, that this wasn’t right, the illusion was too intoxicating to resist.

“Really.” You muttered, barely audible.

His smile widened, a dark glint in his eyes. “I promise.”

Round 4 - Geomancy (earth) 2/2

Okay, two things: One, for this Owl AUz go watch the ordinal music video by Owl City for the song To The Sky (they did it for the Guardians of Ga'Hoole movie, and the guy turns into an Owl at the end! I think?). Two, let's make a backstory for (mutant) owl avian/harpy Reader!

• Reader, a lonely owlet, lived in a great forest kingdom once. They had a comfy hollow they lived in, fresh insects and meat brought to them to eat, a fluffy nest full of down feathers, and possibly even parents or siblings or family of some kind...

• Then, for an unknown reason, they no longer had a home. They were alone...

• They ended up snatched by the owls of St. Aegolius (owlet-nappers who brainwash them with the full moon so they're obedient, mindless slaves or soldiers or workers). Reader outwits them and ends up not moonblinked, but it takes a few moons for them to escape... but they do, barely able to fly, flapping into the fading rosy dawn, and away to wherever the wind takes them...

• They find themself unable to go any further, collapsing to an abandoned place, where mists rise from the grounds and lakes and streams, and where, in a cave betwixt two old, ancient trees, a forge lays... Coals are kept hot and safe from the elements, there are tools along the walls and stony niches, there's a pit and tongs and a few helmets... so Reader learns, with no help, how to manipulate fire, then metal...

• And that is how they become an amateur blacksmith/rogue smith, who tends to make odd figurines and charms, but can sharpen blades and make weapons if needed...

(This is just an idea! You can come up with ideas and we'll see if they can fitted, or if we can alter the story in some way! This is just an idea, mainly if Reader learns how to manipulate fire and tries to make stuff)

You know the TFA Decepticons aren’t an oppressed minority right? DJW even said their Rise Up rhetoric was a jab at how conservatives preach about Protecting Freedoms, and in the Allspark Almanac it’s explained they wanted to colonize other planets and the Autobots objected to that. The Decepticons were exiled for being military fascists.

I'd really, really love to know where I've ever said that on this blog, but since you seem very convinced that I did, let's look at the lore again. I don't feel like trawling the internet for this specific tweet/whatever form this DJW evidence has, so if you have that, I'd love to see it.

This timeline from the Allspark Almanac II pretty clearly states that the entire crux of Cybertronian society as a whole has rested on colonization, very early on in their species' history. Their "Golden Age" 8 billion stellar cycles ago is characterized by expansion that led to the colonization (!!!) of their solar system, further colonization only prevented by isolationism.

The earliest indications of the factional split that mark their history exist within the ruling class Guardians and the Malignus, defined as a "military caste". This implies that Golden Age Cybertron existed as a caste system. Which I would take a guess as not being particularly great.

And when we get to the first (again, quoted from the text here,) "military coup", it's executed by the political ancestors of the Autobots. Not a peep about the Malignus while that was going on.

This faction eventually becomes the Protectobots, and the most notable thing about them is that their leader attempted a Great Purge of "undesirable elements" from their society. I'd be hard pressed to think I'm wrong in thinking that's kinda fucked up. We're not given explicit reasons for this 17 million year war, but wars don't happen without someone to oppose someone else, and we get this in the form of the Destrons.

As for the point about colonization: my point is not that the Decepticon's motivations are not what we see in canon. Not at all. My point is that the Autobots have the same fucking motivation.

The Age of Expansion literally begins when the Autobots take power! It only ends when they butt heads with the Quintessons! Colonization, militarism, and facism, as you put it, are not traits that are unique to Decepticons.

And, according to this timeline and historical reasoning given, there is no mention of either faction's position on further expansion. The formation of the Decepticons is rooted in the divide between labor and military aligned Cybertronians. Both sections are equally responsible for the imperialistic efforts of their Empire/Commonwealth/whatever you want to call it, and make no mistake, this does continue into the present day! From both factions!

Assuming you're referring to my hefty lean towards the Cons in terms of character/exploration interest in the gist of your message, my goal here is not to elevate them to the same Good Guy Status the Autobots have by virtue of being the protagonists. I am fully and completely aware that they are a group of insane zealots that have rallied under a guy who was described by his own VA as an "elegant bully". Rather, I think what you're picking up on is my focus on the fact that the Autobots in Animated have more than their fair share of insidious shit going on.

They retain what is essentially a military dictatorship, with the position of Magnus being only theoretically beholden to the will of the Council and Guilds, as seen when Sentinel was able to fire Fortress Maximus with no approval from the Council and got nothing more than a disapproving sentence from Alpha Trion. We have no word on how their schooling institutions work, but all of it seems heavily centered on their version of the military they've concocted in the absence of warbuilds. And, just in case we forgot about Sentinel's proposed budget...

And that's not even getting into how fucked up Autobot culture is! They're unspeakably xenophobic, throw around propagandistic phrases like they're nothing ("Cogs in the Great Autobot Machine", anyone?), have an incredibly questionable justice system if Wasp is anything to go by, and this only seems to be getting worse at the end of Season 3, if Sentinel's curfews and public service announcements are anything to go by.

I'm not trying to make the Decepticons look better. I'm trying to make the Autobots look worse.

Being inexplicably connected to the King of Curses means your life can only consist of one of two things: calmness or chaos. You never know what to expect with such a temperamental partner. This particular night, however, you are quite certain it is the former.

He looks completely content, cerebral. not a drop of blood stains his lips, putrid metallic smell seeping from every pore of his body. Nor even a hint of something vile lurking beneath the surface. He smells clean, like soap. It’s almost like the abyss of sleep has baptized him, cleansing him of all of his twisted complexities.

he looks beautiful, your guardian angel incarnate. As if the memory of him consuming a woman’s breast not even an hour earlier was an illusion, gore encrusted lips grinning at you lustfully.

“Sit on my lap and watch me.”

Voice low and deep.

You shake your head. No good to dwell on things that happen every day. Right now he’s calm.

Your troubled thoughts dissipate and you’re brought back to reality as a finger darts out, poking you hard on the forehead. The force of this seemingly minuscule touch knocks your head back a little. His bottom left eye is partially open, peering at you. The curvature of it makes it appear as if it’s grinning at you. A soft smile plays on his lips.

“Sleep.” he says simply, pressing his fingers to your eyelids, shutting them. You can tell he likes the attention of your admiring gaze, though. He loves how you love him.

You hold the massive hand closest to you with your much smaller one and kiss it, smiling mischievously at him. “No, you.” you murmur. He lays on his back with his upper hands behind his head, closing his eyes and smiling broader. He’s listening to you. The thought makes your heart swell.
