Nem csak én vagyok így ezzel, de a fotókat igazán papíron, előhívatva, lehetőleg falra akasztva szeretem, tudom értékelni. Nagyon nagy élmény, ha rajongott fotósok eredeti nagyításait láthatom élőben - legalább akkora flash nekem,mint amikor egy Dali, Picasso vagy ilyen szintű festő eredeti alkotásait láthatom. 

Kicsit több,mint egy éve Ricky Powell fotós képeibe futottam bele, véletlenül, egy galériában. Zenészekről, művészekről készített portrék voltak ezek, eredeti nagyítások, dedikáltan. Sajnos, sajnos nem az én pénztárcámnak való tételek ezek, de azért hosszan bámultam tátott szájjal.

És ami pedig borzalmas dolog, amikor egy múvész haláláról jönek a hírek...

Old Stuff - Ricky Powell’s Photos

Here’s a few choice cuts from Ricky Powell’s most excellent book, The Rickford Files. This guy joined the dots between countless characters and cultures, simultaneously stalking the streets and sneaking into high-society functions to capture everyone from DONDI to Liz Taylor. 

And yep, that’s Gene Palmer, the street drummer from Taxi Driver, standing stoop-side with the highly-polished hair-line...

That time the late Ricky Powell told me I have “excellent taste in imagery & photos” Over the years that I knew him, he shared a few of my photos on his social media sites which was an honor. We bonded years ago over photography, NYC, old school rap, art, veganism, Endora & more. He was the quirkiest character I’ve ever known. It makes me sadly uncomfortable to think about how he is no longer physically with us 😕
