Adam Yauch August 5, 1964 - May 4, 2012

The world lost a true original on this day. Yauch was more than a musician. He was a director; a producer; a feminist; philanthropist; an innovator.
His humour and kindness always came through any interview but above anything else his love for Adam and Mike. Brothers until the end.
He is forever missed ❤️

Last week, I was in Wichita, KS for the inaugural Elsewhere Festival and Conference. Created and produced by Midtopia, a Wichita-based nonprofit artist and music-worker collective striving to build new models for the music industry, Elsewhere is a not-for-profit event created to facilitate the building of community around artistic and musical endeavors.  The festival component was crafted to be…

not to get too mushy on main, but when I was feeling really low after the election, I admitted to my mother that I've been really sick and in pain lately and the housework has gotten away from me and that's part of why I feel so overwhelmed.
that was less than a week ago, and already three family friends have offered to come help me clean out my house. because they love me.
idk, when you're disabled and you have depression, it's very easy to feel like you're worthless and no one would ever want to put up with the shitty, awful parts of being around you. seeing people volunteer to do that feels nice.

Welp. Doctor doesn’t want to use any of the mast cell stabilizing meds because of mood side effects (?) and there’s no where to go for a skin prick tests or anything further because I live in a rural shithole so that’s that.
Allergic reactions to everything and overdosing on antihistamines forever it seems. Gonna get married to the Hat Man and his million spider babies.

Feeling a little morose about the recent passing of one of my favorite comic book artists, Ed Piskor, so I sketched some of his drawings and a more realistic drawing of him from a photo. RIP sir. Tell MCA I said hi.

disabled culture is having people tell you you’re collective conditions like Pokémon and you just want attention when in reality you’re actively in denial about multiple conditions you have because you already have so many and don’t want more

A little late but I wanted to "say a little something that's long overdue"
MCA aka Adam Yauch died on May 4th 2012.
I remember where I was when I heard the news. I had to leave the room when I was expected to be the most professional, and I gushed to anyone who would listen what this man meant to me.
In a very real sense, he was the heart and conscience of the Beastie Boys. And I think, if anything, he deserves more credit as one of the best lyricists in hip hop history. He’s got this gruff, authoritative voice and really smart lyrics and he was one of the first rappers to talk about more important things than his private parts. A man who could say he was sorry and not feel lessened by it; a man living within the principles of Buddhism and committed to broadening awareness of the political situation in Tibet; and a genuinely quiet person who had become more likely to make a joke at his own expense than anyone else’s. Yauch’s is one of the voices that can signify hip-hop within three syllables—rough, low, and strained. He got a lot done with that voice. I miss him ❤️.
“I want to say a little something that’s long overdue/ The disrespect to women has got to be through/ To all the mothers and sisters and the wives and friends/ I want to offer my love and respect to the end”

today I had to go to the eye doctor and I was so tired that I just... walked out without paying. no one said a word to me! I just... walked out!
like two hours later I realized what I did and my brain was fully like LITTLE GLASS VIAL???
but thankfully I called them and paid for my appointment, so the repo men will not be coming to repossess my eyes.
