Bonus Halloween content! This isn't part of the challenge of course but I started doodling on a sheet of paper and it turned into this. There is a bit of a backstory to this. Many years ago, my little brother, Jesse, was working on a show about a horror movie host named Gordon Ghoul. I know they shot some footage for it but I have yet to see any of it. Jesse wrote for the show and starred as the titular Gordon Ghoul and, as it happened from time to time, he asked me to think up some ideas for the show. We often collaborated on things or used one another as a sounding board. I came up with a sidekick named Throckmorton who was an irritating demon that popped up to annoy Gordon. The demon was conceived as a purple furry puppet who wore a fez. I have sketches of Throckmorton somewhere but I'm not sure where. Imagine a purple Grover with big black eyebrows and a red fez and you aren't far off from my design. I also wrote an. episode but I don't think it went much further than a concept. This is my homage to the concept and my late little brother Jesse. It's also a bit of a nod to the local horror movie host in Indianapolis, Sammy Terry, who appeared on Channel 4.

Drawlloween 2024, Day 31, The Mole People! It's Halloween! All Saint's Day! All Hallow's Eve! Samhain! I hate to end this challenge on a sour note, especially on the grand day itself, but this movie was an exhaustingly boring trudge from beginning to end. I watched the MST3K version and it was still a chore to watch. Do yourself a favor and miss this one. You'll thank me later. This drawing was created using various markers and the old 100lbs vellum bristol paper. And that's all there is, there is no more, that is the show! Thank you for following this challenge and I wish all of you the merriest of Halloweens! If you want this drawing or ANY of the drawings that have appeared in this challenge then please visit www.deadcatcomix.com All drawings in this challenge have been 8"x10"

Drawlloween 2024, Day 30, Legendre (Bela Lugosi) from White Zombie! I know this movie is considered a classic but I thought it was a bit bland and not overly exciting or scary but I'm sure it was a lot more exhilarating and shocking in 1932. After all the slasher movies that have been made over the years with tons of gushing blood and horrific gruesome mutilations I guess I've become jaded. After Dracula I feel that this is Lugosi's best known role. I may be wrong as I don't know a lot about him. This drawing was made using various markers and the now standard 100lbs vellum bristol paper. Tomorrow is the big day, Halloween, so come back for one last drawing for this year's challenge! If you want the drawing, and why wouldn't you, then visit www.deadcatcomix.com and get it today! All drawings in this challenge are 8"x10"

Another bonus Halloween drawing! I saw the comic page on the right somewhere on the interwebs and something about it made me crawl back down the rabbit hole and redraw it. It was quite a time suck (like four days). I'm super easily distracted!

Drawlloween 2024, Day 29, Flint from Kongo. Walter Huston as Flint from 1932's Kongo, yet another movie that I was unable to watch during the challenge and it's a shame because I'm told that it's a pretty solid tale of revenge and insanity. This drawing is a bit of an experiment with crosshatching and markers. I used a plethora of different markers and the usual 100lbs vellum bristol paper. I almost want to try this one again but that will have to wait for another day as I have more drawings to do for the challenge which continues tomorrow so be there or be square! This drawing and all others from this challenge are available on my website www.deadcatcomix.com All drawings are 8"x10"

Drawlloween 2024, Day 28, IT! The Terror From Beyond Space This is, unfortunately, one of the movies that I was unable to watch during the challenge. From what I'm to understand it's similar to the movie Alien but not as good. This drawing was an experiment with negative/positive space where I attempted to channel my best imitation of Chris Samnee (great artist, check him out). This was accomplished using India ink, a #2 brush, and 100lbs velum bristol paper. Join me again tomorrow as the challenge starts to wind down and we get closer to the big event, Halloween! If you would like to own this or any of the drawings in this challenge they will all be available on my website www.deadcatcomix.com All drawings are 8"x10"

Bonus Halloween drawing! From my sketchbook comes Braindead (aka Dead Alive in the U.S.)! One of the early horror movies made by Peter Jackson before his more celebrated film work on the Lord of the Rings movies.

Drawlloween 2024, Day 27, The Incredible Melting Man! This movie is a real stinker. I actually watched this on an episode of MST3K and even the mocking from the crew didn't help make this a good movie. The great Rick Baker actually did the make up for this movie but, from what I read, the producers cut a lot of it. This was created using India ink, #2 & #6 brushes, watercolor paint, process white, and 100lbs vellum bristol paper. This drawing can be yours! Visit www.deadcatcomix.com for more information! All of the pieces in this challenge are 8"x10"

Bonus Halloween drawing. I copied this from a Slim Jim ad drawn by Jack Davis. It’s not an exact copy of course, I’m nowhere near as good as Jack Davis! I also removed the Slim Jim lol.

Drawlloween 2024, Day 26, Mad Love aka The Hands of Orlac! I watched all three versions of this and this one from 1935 starring Peter Lorre is the best of them. The original silent movie from 1924 has some interesting stark visuals but is slow paced and overly emoted, the 1960 version with Mel Ferrer and Christopher Lee is okay but nothing amazing. If you're going to watch one make it the 1935 version (in my opinion of course). I added a bonus pencil sketch from my sketchbook that I did to prep for the final version. The final drawing was created using various markers and 100lbs vellum bristol paper. Drawlloween 2024, Day 25, The She-Creature! I want to make something perfectly clear, I chose the images that I wanted to draw based two criteria; 1. It had to be an image that I had never drawn before and 2. It had to look cool. This meant that, for the most part, I had never seen the actual movies that the images came from. So I watched them as I drew them and, some of them, I wish I had never watched. This is one of them. Just abysmally bad all around. The costume for the she-creature was so cheesy that it was laughable. Why did they put breasts on it? To ensure that you knew it was a SHE creature? It was hard to watch for sure. I really liked how tactfully they insinuated that the main female actor was a prostitute that followed the carnival around..... This is another marker drawing using various markers and the old 100lbs vellum bristol paper. Six more drawings to go, maybe I'll use markers for the rest of them, we'll see I guess. If you want to own this drawing or any of the others from this challenge please visit my website www.deadcatcomix.com All drawings are 8"x10"

Drawlloween 2024, Day 24, The Devil Commands! Unfortunately this is one of the few movies that I was unable to watch during this challenge so far. I know it's about a scientist (Boris Karloff) trying to find a way to speak to the dead and that the apparatus used to do so is cool looking but that's it. Another drawing created using various markers and 100lbs vellum bristol paper. Maybe I'm getting lazier as the challenge progresses but the markers are so much easier to use. Again, all drawings are available to own through my website www.deadcatcomix.com All drawings are 8"x10"
