Introducing A Total Rewards StrategyÂ

What are the benefits of introducing a Total Rewards strategy?Â
A well-thought-out strategy to rewards and recognition provides organizations with several benefits:Â
Employee EngagementÂ
Recognizing and rewarding employees drives morale, maintains employee motivation and increases engagement.Â
Cost-Effective MotivationÂ
Many benefits and rewards can be provided at little or no cost. Recognizing employees by giving them increased responsibility or involving them in more engaging projects can significantly increase engagement and motivation.Â
Business BrandÂ
People looking for employment are attracted to organizations that provide a comprehensive and well thought out rewards and recognition package. Employee word of mouth about your organization also helps attract desired talent and makes your organization an employer of choice.Â
Reduced TurnoverÂ
An organization with engaged and motivated employees has been shown to lower turnover, which reduces the cost of hiring and developing new employees.Â
is a Total Rewards strategy?Â
A total rewards strategy connects compensation and benefits and provides a range of rewards to employees who achieve defined business goals. Put simply, the strategy defines salary, benefits, and intangible rewards designed to attract, motivate and retain the best performing employees.Â
What elements should be included?Â
A Total Rewards strategy typically encompasses five key elements: Salary/Compensation, Benefits, Professional Development, Reward and Recognition, and Work-life balance.Â
1. Salary/CompensationÂ
Compensation refers to the money earned by the employee. It consists of a base salary or hourly wage, any incentive pays for overtime and holidays, bonuses earned and commissions, and sales and service tips. In some companies, it also includes bonuses and some form of profit sharing. An employeeâs compensation varies based on job title, required level of education, experience, and responsibility level.Â
2. BenefitsÂ
Benefits are those things that fall beyond the standard compensation. They can include a variety of mandatory elements and some that are optional on the part of the employer. Examples of mandatory benefits in the UAE include health insurance, annual flight tickets for expatriates, Emirati pension programmer, and end of service benefits. Optional benefits can consist of pension programmed, life insurance plans, education packages for dependent children, reductions in product and service costs via loyalty cards or percentage discounts for selected goods and services, free or subsidized food provision, and gym memberships. Mandatory benefits are based on regulations in the country in which the employee is based. So, organizations with an international workforce may have to devise multiple benefits packages and policies.Â
3. Professional DevelopmentÂ
Professional development includes elements such as graduate tuition reimbursement, payment of accredited body memberships, funding for access to developmental courses, or access to international conferences, for example.Â
Another typical developmental benefit is access to a mentor to guide and advise. If mentoring is managed as a professional model with support across the company, it can provide a valuable development opportunity.Â
Some organizations provide access to lunchtime development sessions, often known as âbrown bag,â sessions since employees are encouraged to bring their lunch and treat the opportunity as an informal learning event.Â
Another common professional development option provided in many organizations is free access to a wide range of online course content for self-development, either via an internal learning management system or via a funded internet subscription to a third-party resource such as LinkedIn Learning or Coursera, for example. In some cases, access is extended to family members also.Â
4. Reward and RecognitionÂ
Usually, recognition within a total rewards strategy is a formal programmed or process for identifying and rewarding high performance. These recognition programmers typically provide a tangible reward such as a plaque, gift, or certificate and can come with titles such as âEmployee of the Monthâ.Â
Some companies provide branded gifts to increase the sense of company loyalty and often supplement; for example, a branded coffee mug may have a gift card included for a coffee chain. There are companies set up to help organizations provide personalized and branded gifts, and they offer additional services such as engraving of items purchased to provide a level of personalization.Â
Often recognition includes publicizing the achievement in a company newsletter, via a news release or on the companyâs website. Publishing achievements not only act as a reward for the individual but as a motivator for colleagues.Â
Examples of group recognition can include funded team lunches and company or departmental parties around holiday times.Â
5. Work/Life BalanceÂ
Providing employees with options to support their work/life balance varies considerably between companies. Elements may include something as basic as offering flexible working hours or providing in-house yoga sessions. At a more advanced level, this area of reward includes child-care services in the form of a creche or arrangement with a third party, participation in community service initiatives such as âClean the Beachâ, or even overseas volunteer programmed such as building a school in an impoverished country. Increasing support for work/life balance includes access to mental health support.Â
What steps can you take to set up a Total Rewards strategy?Â
Setting up a Total Rewards strategy involves three basic steps:Â
1. Understand your current benefits and awards environmentÂ
It is critical that you know what your organization currently does and what is affordable and practical given your employee demographics and operating environment.Â
2. Understand the marketÂ
You need to research what competitors in the market are doing in compensation and benefits if you are to stand out from the crowd and position your organization appropriately. This benchmarking is typically repeated annually to ensure the organization's remuneration and benefits policies remain competitive. Â You also need to take a global perspective if you have employees based overseas and need to understand what your employees value and appreciate if you are to structure an all-encompassing approach.Â
3. Create your Total Rewards strategy and market as the employee value proposition (EVP)Â
The employee value proposition (EVP) is what attracts employees and is often why employees stay engaged with an organization. The Total Rewards can be incorporated into individual statements that are personalized to define the rewards applicable to each employee. Alongside the private personalized statements, it is critical that organizations make the common Total Rewards strategy transparent and available to all employees.Â
Creating a Total Rewards strategy allows organizations to have a clear and unambiguous set of policies and processes that connect compensation, benefits and employee performance, and support the organization in cost management, brand promotion, and engaging and retaining employees.Â

Since two of them always have to be on duty at the bridge and the other two are currently sleeping, it's upon Jack and Kiyoshi again to help the Grim Reaper out.
They had to host a social event and since they couldn't invite anyone to the ship and the others are not available, they ended up with a date. So they went over to the crew mess to eat together. And found another sad location. The empty chairs of B.D's kids (B.D's full name is 'Black Diamond', just in case you wonder about the name in the tooltip in the pic below ^^') and the cereal squares he made for them.

This was breaking their hearts again and they had to leave to eat. (They really did this. Grabbed their plates and left.)

A sad date that was. Because they chose to sit right next to the kids abandoned playground... But Jack wouldn't be Jack if he weren't able to change the gloomy mood with his never-failing puppy energy. (I don't remember if I ever saw Kiyoshi laughing? Looks so cute <3 )

Jack just can't see his mate sad. And so he dragged him over to Moogie's. Upstairs, to the bar's gaming room. Because the event plan wanted them to play games... It was impossible to be gloomy in a bright room like this ^^' And so their evening - or whatever time of the 'day' it was in this endless darkness the ship was floating through - got significantly better.

Time for the Ambrosia Society Newsletter. There is no mailman in space and it took them a while to find their mail on this giant ship. It was in the Security Office. Probably to make sure there weren't any threats hidden inside the letters and parcels ö.ö A very cool workplace for Jack and Jeb who are also designated as security officers. There are even brigs! Guarded by fancy force fields! Jack: "Awesome! I wonder if we are ever going to contain anyone here?" Kiyoshi, who doesn't even want to think about anyone trying to harm his mate or his friends here: "Hopefully not! ö.ö "

The Romantium was already looping through the ship's air circulation. And a super huge AC was installed in the security office, right next to Jack and Kiyoshi. Blowing out the irresistable and intoxicating particles that makes one want only one thing - to be as close as possible to your loved one... And so Jack moved closer to Kiyoshi and Kiyoshi closer to Jack. Each of them looking at the others plump and totally kissable lips. The sweet and promising lips they'd already tasted before. Far, far too long ago... And right behind Kiyoshi was the latest box from 'Ye Olde Magick Shoppe'. With all the spicy toys for lovers. Demanding to be unboxed by curious couples to bring them joy and bliss...

But Jack and Kiyoshi aren't a curious couple! They are mates, just mates! It was almost impossible to resist the Romantium. But they remembered how bad they felt after woohooing - twice... They love each other too much to bring even more misery among them. Kiyoshi: "What are we supposed to do now?" Jack: "I don't know! I - I'm not ready for more!"

After a while. Vlad: "Are you sober again? Can I let you out? I need to start my duty on the bridge..." Jack: "Sure. Thanks, pal." Vlad just sighed, opened the force fields of the brigs Jack and Kiyoshi had locked themselves in to keep their distance, and left. What is this now again? ...

Jack and Kiyoshi cooled down enough to manage the last quest for the Grim Reaper (until the event broke again -.-) Make Ambrosia! Jack decided the fridge in the crew mess wasn't fancy enough for this special meal, so he went upstairs to fetch the ingredients from the captain's quarters... (Really. More in a future post ^^')

Jack and Kiyoshi are utterly in awe with this futuristic kitchen! They've never seen anything like this before.

Tadaaa! Well done, Boys!

I don't know if we are going to continue this event, should it be fixed. There are only three rewards left (two potions and a Death Flower, if I remember right) so we could just skip it.

Beat the first half (I assume it's half) of Inscryption. It took me about 7 hours, even knowing what things did and where powerups were (watched a few Markiplier videos before deciding I wanted to play myself).
Talked my roommate (@too-many-blorbos) into trying the game. She beat the first half in 2ish hours.
She did not die once on the final boss.
Also a fun fact, where it took me ~12 tries to beat Ganondorf in TotK, WITH my best gear, she ALSO beat him in one go. Without flurry rushing because she hated the timing of it.
My roommate's gaming skills are cracked.
#we were talking about it earlier#i tend to figure out mechanics fast and then go high-risk setups for everything i want#like i'll hunt lynels and get eternal squirrel exploits in order to deal massive damage#but i SUCK at shields#meanwhile she plays it safe until she figures everything out and then she's FANTASTIC at risk v reward assessment#thinking about it more this also happened in bg3!!! my strategy was 'hit things as hard as you can as fast as you can'#and she had to be like 'no. slow down. cantrip on the weak guys. whittle it down'#and THEN we killed minthara#roommate is a strategic genius at gaming#and i have never once beaten her in a pokemon battle since she picked it up in earnest#bee's rambles#real coffee hours

........I think I may have accidentally optimized too hard in E33 bc a boss that i think was supposed to be fairly hard was uh. annihilated in three or four turns
#saint.txt#LM in act 1. if you know you know#I've seen both sci.el and mae.lle hit 9999 damage cap multiple times and these bosses are not keeping up w/ my optimization#I wasn't actually trying to minmax I think it accidentally Just Happened:tm: bc my brain recognized that going All Damage No Defense Fuck i#We Ball was an optimal strategy the game design encourages me to take#I mean I wasn't even really trying I just recognized that the design of this game means it outright rewards my glass cannon tendencies#so everyone's stats are nothing but agility/luck and a tiny bit of vit which I honestly don't really need but keep for safety#and all my pictos are built around damage/AP generation/high risk high reward gameplay like +2AP on parry but +50% dmg taken#I'm hoping that later bosses will catch onto this and start getting harder but. if not um. I may have to set personal limits sbhgbjdhj#now I'm kinda sad that I didn't get to see all its moves VHGSFVH

What markers do you use and what kind paper? The textures are so Delicious
Very basic paper, actually! I find I overthink when using expensive stuff and it makes my sketches worse.
As for markers, I use Copics! Not that this is an endorsement (my first set were a very nice gift), but I have really liked using alcohol based markers over water based ones; lovely texture, good blending, and less streaking. However, the price can be *brutal*, and you can very easily get by with other markers + pencil crayons.
#ask#art faqs#fancy supplies are nice but the dont really help THAT much for art skills. Consistancy and persistance does.#I balked the first time I needed to go in to buy a few new ones to fill out my roster.#if you are going to invest; my strategy was to make those fancy new supplies a reward for drawing X amount of days in a row#that way one doesnt buy a bunch of stuff for a soon to be abandoned hobby#Art is a relatively cheap hobby at its basics. You do not need the fanciest and most expensive things.#I think watercolour is the only exception for me; that paper better be high grade. The paint mix also matters#but I digress. Buy what you need and not what you want. Save your money.#Guilt will make you stop drawing. Hoarding supplies and never using them is wasteful#when I drop money on new colours I'm going in with a list of what I want#and looking through the swatchpad for hours until i get the right colour.#cant emphasize enough how fortunate I am to have been gifted my copics. I never would have bought them on my own.

I hate being called a perfectionist because it builds up this idea of someone with a work ethic and rigurous self-discipline when I'm... not. It happened after my 100% score on an oral exam, and I sort of accepted it because to admit that I got by because I'm lucky to have a good memory and be able to understand and remember the subject just by paying attention in class some of the time and cramming for 24 hours would be disrespectful to both the professor and her subject. And this isn't to humblebrag about my memory; while I won't be falsely modest and deny I'm proud of my relative ease with academics, I genuinely wish so badly I could work steadily and constantly towards a goal instead of relying on wits and adrenaline at the last possible secondâmost of all because it doesn't work all of the time; I failed an exam recently because I couldn't get off the computer.
#Rattles the bars of my brain. Let me do something that isn't easy and instantly rewarding.#And I hate wording this because it sounds like I'm complaining that I barely worked for a 100% score#and on the one hand I *was* happy to discover I could do it#but on the other hand I wish I could've done it with half the stress#and the same strategy did not work with my other exam so...#Ughhh trying so so hard not to be ungrateful or snobbish about my relative ease of understanding + memorisation#because it's complicated that it's something I like and value about myself but it is not enough.

i do have something intelligent to say about the game actually. i really like how the pacing's been so far... it hasn't felt super slow or super rushed at any given moment yet. the plot itself seems relatively straightforward so far, but that's to be expected again of the vibe/genre... and i'm not even fully convinced that it's going to be straightforward the whole way through because of the ambiguity of the main trio's backstories & lore (kabbu/leif especially) + the tensions re: elizant ii's goals, the wasps, so on. the depth of the world is just crazyyy i love how fleshed out everything feels... the history the kingdoms the Bug Politics of it all. i keep bringing up the fucking sandbox desert because it's such a good example of how bf teases its worldbuilding throughout -- it doesn't hit you over the head with anything, there's some forced exposition-y bits esp. about leif's backstory but the way the World Itself works is there for you to uncover and piece together mostly on your own.
i think some of the platforming bits are annoying (e.g. a lot of the honey factory) but it's outweighed by the fact that the dungeons are relatively straightforward. i think if they were more zelda-esque & involved more backtracking i'd be more frustrated (the perspective isn't great with the jumping/controls imo), but thankfully they are pretty much one-way paths to the end (with puzzles & fights along the way).
the linearity of the dungeons is easily counteracted by how open-world the map itself is. there's TONSSS of sidequests and particularly in between-dungeon periods you have a LOT of leeway to do whatever you want and finish things in whatever order you want and fight minibosses whenever you feel ready which i really really like. particularly like... i'm thinking rn of my playthrough, i'm technically "in" chapter 4 but i have like, again, a checklist of the 272739483930 places i have to explore instead of progressing the plot lol. there's a LOT of things they add to make even backtracking feel fresh -- the new npcs walking around old areas, the bounties, and so on. it's soooo much fun to me to go through and squeeze every last bit of dialogue out of each area.
speaking of. my god. there is SOOOO much dialogue and flavor text and Fun Things to read in the game. the writing in the game is so fun and every character has SO much personality i'm so crazily attached to the main trio it's unreal. it's really funny how leif keeps commenting on how nosy we are but I LOVE BEING NOSY!!!! I LOVE THEIR GROUP DYNAMIC!!!!!!! I LOVE ALL THE NPC DIALOGUE AND HOW THE THREE OF THEM HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT EVERY NPC THEY INTERACT WITH AND AREA THEY ENTER the fact that each room has custom dialogue is just NUTS to me there is SO much to learn about the world and if what they're talking about isn't interesting/groundbreaking lore-wise it's just funny as fuck. god. i love it when games have The Characters in them it makes me lose my mind. anyway
#ciphertexts#bugs live#also the fact that every npc has a unique sprite and design is just crazy to me. it makes me want to draw them all so bad#auuugh. augh ough FUCK i have so many things to say about everything but most of them just boil down to Wow Guys.#I'm Really Liking This Game I Had On My Steam Wishlist For Four Years That I Knew I'd Enjoy But Never Purchased Or Played. Are We Surprised.#outside of the platforming being a bit annoying i really can't think of anything else i've been like actively frustrated with#hard mode & the medals + the way the trio's skills interact add a good degree of challenge/strategy to the fights...#and the lack of number/powerscaling while simultaneously preventing you from feeling Weak is done REALLY excellently.#it feels rewarding too like every time i beat a hard fight after strategizing my medals and stressing over item usage and tp conservation#i've like Felt. Real Physical Relief. it's really good man.

What to Do After Beating the Paintress in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
youtube
Starting the Real Endgame
So youâve taken down the Paintress and expected the credits to rollâbut surprise, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is just getting started. Act 3 kicks off with a massive shift, opening up new areas, secrets, and features you couldnât access before. Whether you're looking to hit the level 99 cap, hunt down hidden bosses, or complete side quests, the post-paintress world is packed with content.
In this guide, weâll break down everything you can do after defeating the Paintressâfrom unlocking flight to exploring the endless tower and building character relationships. This is your roadmap to mastering the endgame of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Unlock Flight and Explore Hidden Areas
Right after Act 3 begins, one of the biggest updates is that you unlock flying. This feature opens up previously unreachable spots on the map. Youâll find new zones loaded with optional challenges, tough enemies, and side paths that werenât accessible before. Look out for portalsâthese act as fast-travel hubs and lead to secret areas loaded with loot and encounters.
The best way to approach this? Start revisiting older regions. Check your map for any unexplored icons or places that seemed out of reach before. Youâll be surprised how much the world of Clair Obscur expands once flying becomes available.
Find Hidden Bosses Across the World
Once youâre airborne, you can start tracking down hidden bosses. These aren't just random monstersâtheyâre characters youâve already encountered during your main adventure, now waiting as secret boss fights in remote areas. Some of these bosses are inside the portals you just unlocked, while others are roaming the open world.
Don't be shocked when you run into enemies with hundreds of millions of HP. This is where youâll want to focus on serious builds and maxing out your levels. The endgame in Expedition 33 isnât just for sightseeingâitâs a full challenge on its own.
Build Character Relationships and Unlock Gradient Attacks
If you havenât been spending time at your camp, nowâs the perfect moment. Talk to every NPC youâve recruited. Strengthening relationships unlocks gradient attacksâpowerful moves unique to each character that can make a huge difference in high-level fights.
Some of these bonds even unlock mini side quests. For example:
Spend time with Lun, and youâll be tasked with finding her parents near Serene's Island.
Build your connection with Myel, and sheâll eventually ask you to help locate Alicia.
Befriend Manokco, and heâll lead you to a quest to bring Nooco back by heading to the Sacred River.
Once these side stories are available, your map updates to show where you need to go. Itâs a smooth way to explore and keep progressing without getting overwhelmed.
Swim, Collect, and Unlock Luminina Pools
If you're leveling up your relationship with SKA, youâll unlock a new traversal ability. Specifically, youâll gain access to Luminina poolsâthose water patches you've seen around the world. With SKAâs help, youâll eventually be able to dive and swim underneath these pools, reaching hidden spots that hold color of Luminina.
These areas are often tucked away, so backtracking is worth it. Donât forget to scout all previously visited zones. You never know which patch of water will lead to a fresh collectible or secret path.
Tackle the Endless Tower Challenges
One of the biggest late-game features in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the Endless Tower. You canât miss itâit takes up a huge part of the map and is marked by a golden disc near the center. Once you find the main portal, step through and walk across to the inner portal to enter the tower itself.
Inside, youâll find a canvas that lets you begin a series of increasingly tough trials. Youâll start at Stage 1, Trial 1, and each level gets progressively harder. These battles are serious, so make sure your team is optimized. Hit level 99, equip top-tier gear, and donât skip those gradient attacks. The Endless Tower is the ultimate test of your builds and combat skill.
Level Up to 99 and Optimize Your Builds
The new level cap is 99, and youâre going to need every bit of it. Many of the hidden bosses and tower challenges feature extreme health pools and powerful moves. Simply progressing through the story wonât be enoughâyou need to grind, optimize, and experiment.
Hereâs how to prepare:
Revisit areas for XP farming.
Fine-tune gear and ability setups.
Use character synergy to your advantage.
Maximize unlocked skills through character bonds.
Donât skip enemy groups on the way to objectives. Every battle adds up, and the tougher you get, the more ready youâll be for whatâs waiting in the endgame.
Donât Miss Any Side Quests or Hidden Encounters
The world in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is packed with content thatâs easy to miss if you're rushing. After defeating the Paintress, take the time to explore every corner, portal, and dialogue tree. Character quests, relationship events, and optional boss fights are everywhereâmany tied to specific NPCs or items youâve collected along the way.
Use your map regularly. Areas with lingering fog or unchecked objectives may now be accessible. This is also a great moment to wrap up any side content you skipped earlier. Whether it's for lore, loot, or just the fun of discovery, the game rewards your curiosity in Act 3.
Conclusion: Thereâs a Lot More to Explore Post-Paintress
Finishing off the Paintress doesnât mean you're doneâfar from it. With flight unlocked, level 99 goals, the Endless Tower, and hidden bosses scattered across the map, the game opens up in big ways. Whether youâre building deep character relationships, tackling the toughest enemies, or exploring all corners of the world, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 gives you more than enough reasons to keep going.
The best approach? Take it one step at a time. Thereâs no wrong order, but every activity pushes your party closer to being endgame-ready. Dive into the post-Paintress content and see how far you can go.

Norel vs WL. who shall win
Mentally ill rat vs God
I love Norel but there's no way that pathetic little wet tissue is winning this one, he's gonna fold like origami papper. The only reason he's as dangerous as he is is because he's an influential political figure with the backing of an entire kingdom, its army and personal criminal ties. Only reason he's able to overpower gods in this story (well, canonically only one fledgling god, but there are different flavours of AU I made for fun) is by setting traps and by literally throwing an entire army against them, the only reason he still lives and keeps getting away with this shit is because he's not in the main line of fire when something inevitably goes wrong, it's the people he has working for him that are ripped to shreds and not him. The two only AUs where he does manage to capture her was done through magical traps and use of void to significantly weaken her to the brink of death.
1 on 1 though? That cunt's folding like a lawn chair. The second he's in a room with any of the vessels (that can fight and aren't Whisper) he's dead dead.
#thylacines can talk#asks#faaf au#oc: norel#hes built like a toothpick hes skilled in magic but cant fight for shit#range maybe he has a chance but close combat hes fucked. hes fucked against anyone who knows how to fight#his strategy involves deception and throwing so much shit at the gods until they keel over#but like. capturing regular vessels was a hassle and capturing Flower/THK was risky as hell as they were a full realised god at the time#although very new and inexperienced god but still very much a god. it was a high risk high reward kind of situation. he had to throw an#entire army at them and use magic chains to bind them. An experienced god like PK or WL? Theres gonna be a lot more casualties and a lot#more luck necessary. if hes allowed to use anything. involving other people. and has enough time to prepare then MAYBE. maybe he has a#fighting chance. but hes gonna have to get lucky. this is why him talking with PK post them finding out what Norel did is a hypothetical#realistically he's dying the second these two meet#sorry about the text wall i like rambling about my ocs
