It feels kind of magical to happen across other aspecs in the wild. Once I heard a friend of a friend talk about aesthetic attraction so I tentatively asked if she was aspec and her face lit up with a "Yes!" Another time I was chatting with someone that I'd sat next to in the first lecture of a new course and (because they were talking about queer stuff) I mentioned that I was aroace and they exclaimed "No way - me too! I've never met another one!" and we were both so excited. Even just learning through the grapevine that an acquaintance (e.g. a family friend I played with when we were kids, and a girl I was in a writing group with six years ago) is ace and/or aro makes me feel so warm and happy. It reminds me I'm not alone. It reminds me that other aspecs don't just live on the internet. They are out there in the world, living their own full and rich lives.

Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky
For the Modern/Classic Sci Fi Ask Game
ngl I keep constantly forgetting this isn't an 80s-90s sweeping space epic. What do you mean this was published in 2015. Sounds Fake.
I think this is because I keep mentally classing it with Vernor Vinge's A Fire Upon the Deep/A Deepness in the Sky and Iain Banks's Culture series. I don't actually know enough about the Culture series to recommend it one way or another tbh, but I bet you would enjoy A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge (1992). It has that grand sweeping galactic setting, alien intelligences, time weirdness because of vast space distances travelled, huge scope, and high stakes.

i am begging for someone to canonize a little more info about kate's other kid because a deep dive into the wiki revealed the potential they're in the 3-6 age range when she has to go dark (assuming it's around the 2017-2018 time span) which......
the implications??????
to be fair it's based in an aside by kate's half-nephew who might not have been aware of her second kid (unlikely considering him and gordy are besties but hey who knows) that places the potential span of time from 2011 to 2014, when the line in death in heaven about kate being a divorcee is canonized. and of course doctor who canon is more malleable than playdough, so all of it can be taken with grains of salt but still!
i love stories that have kate's second kid being a young adult, i think it's fun (and i've done it all the time) but now i want to see a 2024 return to power kate trying to rebuild her relationship with an at most 13 year old at youngest 10 year old who hasn't seen her for around 6 years. like her grappling with her own terrible relationship with her parents while trying not to do the same to this kid who already probably resents her a little bit for up and abandoning them
i'm pleading i'm begging for more kate content at any given point but cmon that's the same around age that her mother breaks up with the brigadier and they fully separate the parallels-

*me suddenly awake at 3 am You know if Lockwood hadn't decided to take Holly to Wintergarden
Lucy would have been able to bring Skull
who would have warn Lucy that that small ghost boy was a murderer long before George announced it
cause Skull was a greater asset than Holly at that time but
Lockwood was distrustful of ghosts and didn't like how Lucy was getting closer to them
so he made a staffing decision that took away the greatest use of her talent
and she in turn reached to a ghost she thought was a victim

God wishes to communicate Himself, to pour forth the love which He Himself is. That is the first and the last of His real plans and hence of his real world, too. Everything else exists so that this one thing might be: the eternal miracle of infinite Love. And so God makes a creature whom He can love: He creates man. He creates him in such a way that he can receive this Love which is God Himself, and that he can and must at the same time accept it for what it is: the ever astounding wonder, the unexpected, unexacted gift. […] God must so create man that love does not only pour forth free and unexacted, but also so that man as real partner, as one who can accept or reject it, can experience and accept it as the unexacted event and wonder now owed to him, the real man.
- Karl Rahner (Theological Investigations, Volume 1: God, Christ, Mary, and Grace, pages 310, 310-311), trans. Cornelius Ernst, O.P.

Rewatched afterimage and I'm still confounded by people who go "garak was lying about the closet thing" that's the one of the only realistic parts of this episode. He doesn't even think of it as counting as traumatic, excuses it by saying all parents discipline their kids, seems almost embarrassed when Ezri regards it as abnormal, and gets pissed off the moment Ezri starts asking him more questions about his father's patenting style. That's what people MY AGE do when you tell them their parents hitting them is bad and fucked up.

2020s Doctor Who: Big budget, explosions, a million camera angles, CGI, the works
1960s Doctor Who: wobbly sets, very obvious models, actors stumbling over their lines, long moments of nothing happening/people walking and saying nothing
And I love them both.

im gonna go off on one in the tags pls enjoy
#ive been going by jay online since i was 13 irl since i was 15/16 and my mum cant get used to it#me my friend and both our mums hung out last week and i heard my mum telling his mum 'i just cant get used to [their] name. they want to be#called /jay/ but i just cant do it' literally everyone else including my brother and my dad uses my chosen name#apart from when theyre around my mother! because her force of disgust is definitely more important than my agency and want to be called by#my own name... i have been thinking about wanting to be called another name like. interchangably with my name#and i think id go with yasha. its the diminutive of jay so like. if we friends i want to be yasha x#but also realising how much i want to have autonomy over my name came from picking a name in 2021 for practise in chinese#and my friend helping me decide between something that sounds similar (林植 cos the first character kinda sounds like my eng surname) and a#more literal translation where i was like the translation of jay is 松鸦 i could use that haha and she went but the 鸦 character is awful#you could be 松雅! its then a pun and makes me sound fancy. and i was so happy just making choices and getting to like#pick my own name that peoplw could use. really a revelation. anyway i was kinda on hold for a bit living at home but now im freer hearing#her go on that 'jays choice of name is so hard on me' rant really made me..... start thinking and reminiscing about my name. and me. u know#jay wasnt even my choice its just my initials that i started going by as like. plausible deniability that i wanted to change my name#i remember thinking more about it when i was younger and deciding against other names Specifically because it would be easier to go#'its just my initials!' yeah. im 25 is it too late to change names#sorry for long rambly disjointed rant. hope this was enlightening if u made it this far

Rejoicing in Heaven
1 And after these things I heard the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, "Hallelujah! The salvation and the glory and the honor and the power belong to the Lord our God. 2 For true and righteous are His judgments; for He has judged the great whore, who corrupted the earth with her fornication, and He has avenged the blood of His servants at her hand." 3 And they said a second time, "Hallelujah! And her smoke shall ascend upward into the ages of eternity." 4 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, Who sits on the throne, saying, "Amen. Hallelujah!" 5 And a voice came forth from the throne, saying, "Praise our God, all His servants, and all who fear Him, both small and great."
6 And I heard a voice like that of a great multitude, and like the sound of many waters, and the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, "Hallelujah! For the Lord God Almighty has reigned.
7 Let us be glad and shout with joy; and let us give glory to Him; for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready." 8 And it was granted to her that she should be clothed in fine linen, pure and bright; for the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints.
9 And he said to me, "Write: Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb." And he said to me, "These are the true words of God." 10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. Then he said to me, "See that you do not do this! I am a fellow servant of yours, and of your brethren, who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."
11 And I saw heaven open; and behold, a white horse; and He Who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He does judge and make war. 12 And His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written that no one knows except Him. 13 And He was clothed with a garment dipped in blood; and His name is The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven were following Him on white horses; and they were clothed in fine linen, white and pure. 15 And out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He might smite the nations; and He shall shepherd them with an iron rod; and He treads the winepress of the fury and the wrath of the Almighty God. 16 And on His garment and on His thigh He has a name written: King of kings and Lord of lords.
17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, "Come and gather yourselves together to the supper of the great God 18 So that you may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of chief captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all, free and bond, and small and great."
19 And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies, gathered together to make war with Him Who sits on the horse, and with His army.
20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet who worked miracles in his presence, by which he had deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. Those two were cast alive into the lake of fire, which burns with brimstone; 21 And the rest were killed by the sword of Him Who sits on the horse, even the sword that goes out of His mouth; and all the birds were filled with their flesh. — Revelation 19 | A Faithful Version (AFV) A Faithful Version Bible Copyright © 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 York Publishing Company.
