my highest grade of the semester (an A++) was on a free form, unstructured, reflective essay about language

my lowest grade (literally a 0 on the 1st draft LOL) was on a highly structured, analytical, argumentative essay about one bible verse

I think this shows how difficult it is for my adhd brain to focus in on the small tiny important details, I can never "fulfill the assignment" on these types of papers cuz there are so many tedious rules and formatting and it's GROSS. it hinders the creative juices. non structured free flow reflective essays that focus on the big picture tho?? mmmmmMMMM yes

Imagine decorating your apartment for the winter holidays with Mikey. 

You’ve been feeling a bit down and stressed between school and general life happenings, and have been struggling to feel the holiday spirit permeating from every store and winter market. Mikey was worried. You were always there for him, and he hated seeing you upset and stressed. His natural resolution?

 Kidnapping. Kidnapping for a date that is. He took you to pick out a Christmas tree. At first you wanted to complain about the cold, but then he pulled out matching hats and scarves he’d seen, and found a stand that sold hot chocolate and hot cider. He bought one of each so you wouldn’t have to spend any energy on making a decision. Mikey knew you already overwhelmed from making so many other decisions, he thought trying to choose one hot drink might push you over the edge (it wouldn’t have… or so you tell yourself). 

You brought up that if he was worried about you making a decision over hot drinks, what about having to make a far more important decision of finding the perfect tree? Wasn’t that an even harder decision? Mikey’s brain buffered for a full minute before he went “Well…” And headed back to the car he had  stolen rented (there’s no way a tree would’ve fit on the back of his bike). You laughed and intertwined your arm with his as you walked up and down the aisles of available trees. 

Finally, you found the perfect tree, a cute stout one, with a nice top for a star. “Good thing I have a ladder so I can place you up there.” Mikey cheesed. Upon setting the tree up in your apartment, you went about decorating the tree. Emma had helped Mikey think of various activities for this big date, and helped him plan out the finer details. They’d picked out a few ornaments pre-made from the store, and also picked out a few ornament making kits. Mikey didn’t have many crafts that he’d made as a kid, so you both found special meaning and happiness in creating ornaments together. 

Of course, no date is complete without snacks. Two gingerbread house kits and a cookie decorating kit also appeared out of some hidden corner. When you looked at Mikey incredulously, he responded with a simple “the car can hold a lot,” and you secretly wished he would always drive a car. You blasted Christmas music, created your own music video for Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You, and enjoyed warm cookies, fresh out of the oven. 

To round off the night, you both cuddled on the couch while watching your favorite Christmas movie, perfectly content and once again at peace. The distraction from your stress and reminder that at the end of the day, Mikey would always love you and think you were one of the most brilliant people he knew, helped you feel like no matter what the next day might bring, you would get through it.

Israel has just bombed a hospital where hundreds of wounded and refugees were taking solace. Journalists in Gaza have reported there was hardly a single body whole in the aftermath (If you can stomach it, there's a video of a father holding what remains of his child). At least 500 people killed by IOF soldiers, who planned this action, got into an airplane and dropped that bomb willingly. The deadliest attack in five wars, according to the Ministry of Health.

Israel has denied ownership of the attack and said it was a misfired Hamas rocket. Originally, they celebrated it on their social media, saying they had destroyed a Hamas target, treating the deaths like an unfortunate collateral. After international backlash, they posted videos to their social media claiming it was a Hamas rocket. The video, though, shows a second explosion 40 minutes after the airstrike, and they edited it our of their tweet in a pathetic attempt at covering up.

Israel has said multiple times that they were going to bomb hospitals. They told doctors to evacuate and leave their patients to death because they were going to bomb, namely: Al Shifa, Shuhada Al Aqsa and the Quwaiti Hospital. Al Shifa housed at least 10.000 refugees and wounded, and worked as a hub for the press because it was one of the only hospitals that still had working generators. Medical crew worked with sirens blaring to signal the hospitals were not empty. This was a purposeful massacre. These people died hungry, thirsty and in pain because of the Israeli government's cruelty.

CNN and other media outlets already tried to pin the blame on Hamas, parroting back the pathetic propaganda being sold by the IOF. Even in death, Palestinians can't be respected and are used to further their own oppression. These people's deaths are not going to be in vain. Within our lifetimes, Palestine will be free.

Take action. The Labour Party in the UK had an emergency meeting today after several councilors threatened to resign if they didn't condemn Israeli war crimes. Calling to show your complaints works.
