In today’s fast-paced corporate world, the pressure to meet deadlines and achieve targets often leads to increased stress levels among managers. Unfortunately, some managers resort to yelling as a means to enforce discipline or express frustration. However, this approach can have severe health implications for both the managers themselves and their subordinates. This article: Yelling Managers…

Ryne and Gaia are like. Such good parallels and foils to each other it makes me just a little insane.
Like Ryne is sweet and caring and she always wants to help others and make them feel better even to the detriment of herself because she has seen and known suffering and doesn't want others to have to live like that too. If she can make someones life better, even if just a little bit, then she will. But she also puts everyone elses well-being and feelings so far above her own that she often ends up trying to help in a way that doesn't actually solve anything because it still ends up with someone hurt (such as trying to properly fuse with Minfilia knowing it might end up with herself disappearing). She's not a doormat, but she does have some people-pleasing tendencies.
Gaia, however, is the exact opposite. She's prickly and sarcastic and thinks of herself and her needs first and foremost, everyone else is secondary. It's not that she's cold or uncaring, she doesn't ignore people's problems, she just doesn't see them as her business most of the time (A product of being raised in Eulemore most likely). She doesn't consider the long-term outcome of what she does or says, she lives solely in the present and the future is a problem for when it happens.
These opposite traits also play into each other. Ryne inspires Gaia to care more about others and Gaia inspires Ryne to prioritize herself more. Gaia makes Ryne live more on the moment without thinking solely of what the future will bring, and Ryne makes Gaia think more on what her life will be going forward and to actually consider what she does and says and how that affects things. They feed into each others good traits (Ryne's caring nature and Gaia's sense of self) while also helping them deal with the bad traits (Ryne's people-pleasing and Gaia's aloofness).
Their pasts are good paralells too. Ryne was isolated and lonely until Thancred took her away but even then, he was distant and emotionally neglectful, so she ended up lonely in an entirely different way. Gaia had a family and caretakers that she wasn't particularly close to, but after the 'Fairy' started talking to her they got even further away until she couldn't even remember them, and the 'Fairy' was the closest thing she had to a friend even though it was what isolated her to begin with. Ryne had constant companionship but no support, and Gaia had 'support' but no companionship.
Even just. Regarding the whole identities thing they are just. Perfect. Ryne has lived with Minfilia's shadow on her shoulder her entire life and never got to learn who she actually is. She thought that she had to become Minfilia for her life to be worth anything, that it's the only way her existance is justified. The person closest to both her and Minfilia(Thancred) indicated(in her mind at least) that he wanted Minfilia to be here in Ryne's stead(which wasn't really the case but she didn't know that). The only way to get her out of that shadow was to remove her from the identity of Minfilia, hence why her new name is so important(as well as the hair and eyes being her natural colors instead of Minfilia's all too recognizable ones).
But Gaia didn't even know about Mitron or Loghrif until Eden. She had the 'Fairy', but to her it was just some voice in her head which was nice enough to her. To her, Loghrif is just some lady Mitron loved, she has no real connection to her. She has a connection to Mitron, both as the 'Fairy' and as remnant feelings from Loghrif, but none to Loghrif herself(aside from the obvious reincarnation stuff). Gaia has always been her name. It may have been Loghrif's originally, but she is so far removed from that identity that even for all of Mitron's effort to 'return' her to Loghrif, it'd never work. Loghrif is Gaia, but Gaia is not Loghrif. Simple as that.
Eden's story works so well because Ryne and Gaia are opposites in that specific way that compliments each other, rather than pits them against each other.

For a moment I thought Doumeki was going to mention that Kohane was worried about Watanuki and asked Doumeki to look after him - but instead he pivots to the thing I had completely forgotten about and mentions the balloon.
How long ago was the balloon. Forever ago. It was from before Watanuki fell out the window.
NO WAIT I WILL FIND OUT. PLEASE HOLD.
Balloon appeared in Chapter 50, which I seem to have read in 2017, and Watanuki gives it to Kohane in Chapter 58. So this balloon is seven years old for me. This balloon is the age of a small child.
I suppose it’s not as extreme if you go by publishing date. Volume 8 was published in Feb 2006 and Volume 14 was Feb 2009. But that’s still three years!
Clamp really playing the long game here as if we would expect anything else at this point.

Have we, as a fandom, progressed to the point that we can realize that Twilight of the Apprentice, while a good episode, is not a particularly great Rebels episode and is certainly the least functional finale in the entirety of Rebels?
#like I enjoy twilight of the apprentice#but it’s largely focused on the relationship between one recurring character and a villain that is barely in the show#and that relationship is only meaningful in any way if you’ve watched a completely different show#aside from that it only resolves one of the plot threads of the season (inquisitors)#while the others (Hera becoming a leader for the Rebellion Sabine growing toward accepting her past Zeb reconnecting with his people#and finding peace and even chopper becoming a more complex character what with the introduction of his backstory and his newfound ability to#connect to others outside of the Spectres and the Rebellion growing and becoming more structured)#are completely left behind#4/6 of the MAIN CHARACTERS of the ENSEMBLE SHOW do not even appear in the SEASON FINALE#the main villains are unceremoniously killed off not by the efforts of the main characters#but by a completely new guy who you know nothing about if you haven’t watched a different only vaguely connected movie and a slightly more#connected TV show. but even then lots of stuff doesn’t add up because Ahsoka and Maul had never met before when TotA aired#at a lot of points TotA BARELY feels like a Rebels episode and more like a continuation of TCW (the Ahsoka and Vader fights$#it’s a well written episode overall hence how it manages to somehow make this work#but it’s more a resolution to TCW’s Anakin & Ahsoka dynamic than anything else#it’s not really Rebels and it’s certainly not a satisfying finale to most of the season#it just seems like it is because it plays on nostalgia and does have a strong resolution to Ahsoka & Vader#ok hot take for the night! will be watching this episode tomorrow#don’t kill me#star wars#is this the original post tag#rebels#star wars rebels#sw rebels#twilight of the apprentice

considering the true ridiculousness of that heist and how completely implausible every single thing they did was, the episode should have felt slower for me. usually i need a bit more than, waiter who is clearly not like the rest because he's in a literal mask and going in the entire wrong direction, to agree to suspension of disbelief. but even as i was thinking about how truly bad this heist was, it was still enjoyable and hit enough points of tension and had great pacing, and the overall episode felt like it went by in a flash.
but also,,, like, what is the point of it all????? it's not like the one ring. it can't actually do anything. rose's dad doesn't just lose his wealth and privilege because he lost this ring?? (if they do that i am going to both laugh and be so annoyed.) i truly do not understand, but i'm willing to play along because its a fun ride.

My mother is dropping hints that she wants to move in with me after she retires in a few years which is extra fucking crazy because I live in a one bedroom apartment with my spouse and am nowhere near in a financial position to purchase a house so what does she think is going to happen? Someone sleeps in the fucking living room? I pull the money for a house or a bigger apartment out of my ass?
Also I'm not her best option by a long shot? Her house is nearly paid off and worth bare minimum twice what she paid for it so she could definitely take that money buy something outright if she wanted so idk why she's looking at me (okay well I do know, it's because she's weirdly dependent on me and expects me to manage her life for some fucking reason)

Drama, chaos, confusion, and madness intrude on my life every single day.
Coworker A wants 30 minutes on my calendar to “talk about a project” when what she actually wants is to vent about Coworker B. DRAMA!
My foster dog breaks her potty-training streak by squatting down and loosing her bladder all over the kitchen floor. CHAOS!
There’s a $35 fee from our bank because I meant to transfer money into an account but accidentally transferred out of it. CONFUSION!
Our podcast is late because I spent all of Thursday morning convinced it was Wednesday morning, even though I wrote “Thursday” at the top of my to-do list: MADNESS!
This is why I must be like Alyssa. When it comes to time management, I cannot entertain these distractions.
The pursuit of productivity for productivity’s sake is a symptom of toxic capitalism, which we do not wish to propagate. You are not obliged to systemize, optimize, or monetize all your precious moments upon this planet.
But our modern lives are full of endless, annoying actions to take and tasks to manage. Procrastination and disorganization invite a lot of unnecessary stress into your life. So today we’re talking about time management techniques. If you struggle with drama, chaos, confusion, and madness, try one of these time management methods out and see if it helps you!

PSA on deescalation
Listen to the person! Yes, when people are angry they don't always communicate clearly and sometimes say things that they don't mean. But they are still intelligent human beings capable of knowing how they feel.
Leave the situation! If it's safe, leave the situation! It takes two to tango and it's harder to fight when you don't have an enemy anymore. If the person is telling you to leave you probably should.
Also you should almost never trap or prevent the other person from leaving! Letting someone who is upset leave allows them to get some space alone, get space from the conflict, feel safer, and get some adrenaline out by moving. You may feel it's not safe to leave the person or let the person leave. But try to balance those concerns with the fact that it's not fair to hold them hostage in a situation they don't feel safe in, at that point you're antagonizing them. Also you should respect that person's autonomy and judgement, they know themselves better than you do and often they want to avoid the conflict escalating as well.
Validate the other persons emotions! This helps show concern and make someone feel heard, which helps stem the conflict and stress. You don't have to apologize or deny what they did is wrong but express understanding and compassion for the distress they are feeling.
Express concern not judgement! If you think they "need help" ask if they "are okay?" ask if they need help. But don't tell them to "calm down."
Communicate your concerns! If you're concerned that safety of the the other person or other people if you leave the situation let them know. You might be able to work out a deal so that they walk a certain way so that you can see them get away safe. You can give them resources. This also communicates concern.

This all comes from what I've learned studying psychology and education. As well as from working in schools and mental hospitals. I don't have time right now to include references but if you curious about things mentioned I encourage you to look up deescalation techniques as well as the individual techniques I've mentioned.
