For how much Machete is described by others as off-putting, he really is a beautiful dog. Does Vasco ever tell him so? That his eyes make him look earnest, his fur the most comforting shade of white like cream, the way his ears catch light like stained glass? If someone doesn't tell him so, he'd forever think he was ugliest duckling

I think Vasco definitely tries, sincerely and often, but Machete is very reluctant to accept compliments and positive feedback. Especially if it's about something as personal and innate as his looks.

No new pictures update from the bricklaying, as I didn’t take any. The project now will have to be finished some time after the weekend. Disappointed but not surprised :/

We had the longest morning meeting that we’ve ever had, I had to water the entire property, and then I forgot about 10 o’clock group break, plus I was mandated to leave two hours early since I wasn’t approved for overtime… everything was against me 😔

I have half of chapter 32, but the next half just isn't coming. I think it has more to do with not having the time or space to breathe and work than not having the inspiration, but I'm frustrated.

My advisor just mentioned another abstract and another conference. I have a review essay due on that paper I mentioned where I'd like to blow up some of their talking points; I have a presentation in a few months, which is nice, except I haven't done any of the natural mineral research to back up my conclusions. And I still haven't touched my historical work.

In the meantime I'm answering mundane start-of-the-semester logistic questions and pestering people for natural samples. I was supposed to contact this guy to plan an event but ghosted him on accident and now it's too late so I feel guilty about that. I have to send a professor a news article link with questions because I don't know anything about Nickel Laterite leaching but I'm curious. I have to make a list to get the samples from storage because they're not my samples, and ask the professor if I can chip bits out of them.

Yesterday I realized there’s nothing stopping me from putting a pond in my backyard. And if I get it dug before winter, the snowmelt will fill it in by spring without me having to do a thing. So I started digging. And then I KEPT digging. Because it occurred to me three shovelfuls in that it’s supposed to rain at the end of the week and if I haven’t dug the entire, quite large pond by then, things will go poorly.

Generally I agree, though I think I'd make the distinction of it's not when he's fuller, it's when he's digesting. Like if he ate a mountain of ice cream, it wouldn't instantly melt, it would start to digest and would heat up his belly. So when he really starts digesting and his stomach is all loud and gurgly, that's when it kicks into high gear. It probably even makes his burps worse as it's kicking up literal gas and maybe even mini reactions to fire at the top level of his stomach (I'm thinking like mini explosions like pop rocks). That makes his belly warm and if you rubbed it, you might feel the gas or other reactions.

And yes agreed, he probably could burp fire (though depends on what's in his stomach. I think most liquid would tamp down the fire, other than maybe the chance the alcohol would ignite). Plus if there are mini explosions maybe there's a chance that he burps different colors with the different chemicals.

I think the localized Stand name that sticks in my head the most by far is Li'l Bomber. I often catch myself thinking it first before correcting myself to Aerosmith. It's just such a funny change that's completely different from the original, so you know the people making it had to take time to think up... and they went with Li'l Bomber
