"Though the price, availability, and type of data in the voter file varies by state, voter files never include information about who a person voted for in any election. This is because a voter’s decision of who to vote for is private – a 'secret ballot.'"
Your vote is private! No one can find out who you voted for. You can lie about how you voted. You can tell the truth. But people won’t know either way.

From the October 31, 2024 article:
“In the one place in America where women still have a right to choose, you can vote any way you want. And no one will ever know,” Roberts says in the ad as a woman on screen meets up with her husband after casting her ballot for Harris.
The voter winks at a fellow female voter as her husband asks if she made the “right choice.”
Republicans have responded to the video with outrage, with some claiming that a wife lying about her vote is as bad as an affair.
“If I found out Emma was going to the voting booth and pulling the lever for Harris, that’s the same thing as having an affair,” Fox News host Jesse Watters said on air Wednesday in a clip highlighted by Mediaite.
Other GOP members including Charlie Kirk said the thought was “nauseating.”

Today is General Election Day 2024. Haven’t voted yet? It’s time to get that ballot in!
Today is General Election Day in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and across the United States. Much is at stake. The presidency, four hundred and thirty five seats in the U.S. House, and a third of the seats in the Senate are all on the line. And that’s just the federal level positions. In Washington, nine statewide executive department positions, three Supreme Court positions, and three-fourths of…

With the upcoming election and political and social tension in america the pass few years it's important to one, vote. Show up to local elections, and big elections. But to also try to view the candidates from other's perspective. You may not deal with one issue but hundreds of others do. Racism isn't just social its systematic, and if you dont know what that means, it's the system that america has created benefits white people while harming people of color. The system america is built on priotizes capital above all else. There are many laws and loop holes that legalize racism and discrimination. There is legistration that effects people of color, queer people, disabled people, those who are incarcerated, ect. If you are not rich, white, and straight then the system does not care about you. You are not just voting for yourself. The best thing to do is to stay informed and being willing to listen, speak up, and willing to learn. There are a lot of people who speak out about their experiences and ways to help. I recently came across a video i feel i should mention that relates to this topic. The link is https://youtu.be/QDzL_2EP0mU?si=IEpocvPoAPyfi1lq . It is a mini documentary about using imprisoned people for cheap labor and essentially creating legal slavery. And serves a reminder the system does not care about you if you are poor, a person of color, queer, disabled. Remember to vote and try to keep others in mind when voting.

From the UK's 2024 General Election, after a recount - Labour won Hendon by 15 votes. Never say your individual vote won't matter.

(The Washington Post)
For those who don't know, the US Supreme Court just ruled that states are allowed to enforce trans healthcare for minors. Undoubtedly, this will trigger a wave of other states that either hope to pass or have already passed policies to do the same. This is going to kill children, and harm more in long-lasting ways.
So, how can you help?
FUCKING VOTE. I don't care if you don't like Biden, he's not the only one on the ballot. Vote representatives into your city council who will turn our city into a sanctuary city. Vote for governors and state reps who will, even if they don't pass new protections, oppose bans being pushed through. Chsllenge and kick out conservative incumbents who are banking on their races being obscure enough for people to not vote in.
Anyone telling you voting is useless is either lying to you or grossly uninformed and think saying this is the edgy new take that will make them look hip and informed. Yes, the system is broken. But short of burning the whole thing to the ground (which personally I'm not a fan of as I quite enjoy having like. Roads and the FDA) what we can do is to change it for the better, by starting with the local races and working our way up.

Hello everyone who lives in the United States and is over 18, early voting has been open for a little bit and stays open until the 2nd. If you’re mailing a ballot, they have to have it by the 5th so you should send it in probably by the 29th. The election is on the 5th, so don’t let the deadlines slip your mind!
Vote for Kamala and let’s keep that orange fascist out of office!

It’s Top Two Election Day 2024 in Washington State – don’t forget to vote!
Readers, a reminder that today is the last day of the August 2024 Top Two Election, the elimination round of our problematic, two-part first-past-the-post general election system. Ballots must be postmarked or returned by a drop box by 8 PM tonight, or they won’t count. Be sure yours is in, and then remind friends and family to vote, too. Chances are, many of them haven’t. Don’t assume –…

Penny: [huffs] What now? Levi: Déjà vu much. Penny: Shut up.
UNIDENTIFIED RETINA – ACCESS DENIED
Aster: Woah. Penny: Don’t suppose you can pick that? [Robin scoffed, shaking his head]
Jacob: Maybe one of these bodies would work. Levi: Jesus, no one’s dragging a dead body around-.. besides, the eyes are the first to rot. Tess: EW-.. how do you know that?
Levi: It’s basic anatomy! Aster: Nerd. Penny: Lol.
RETINA IDENTIFIED – ACCESS GRANTED
Levi: What the fuck, Robin?! Robin: I didn’t do anything! Jacob: You didn’t hack it?
Robin: No, I just looked at it! [Levi squinted suspiciously] Robin: What?! It’s not like I’ve been here before.
Levi: If you say so. Jacob: Pretty weird, either way. Penny: Whatever, let’s keep going.
Penny: [groans] This place is even more disgusting than the last. Aster: Yeah.. if this is a prank, I’m way over it. Penny: Same.
Robin: Well, we’re stuck here until we find a way out. Tess: Great. Jacob: C’mon, let’s sit down for a sec…

I think CAIR is trying to do some damage control now. They were supposed to release the exit poll for this election at 10 am ET today, but have since postponed it. Their polling and releases repeatedly state that the vote was split between Harris and Stein at around 40% each respectively. The narrative has been that the population they represent has voted Dem for the past 20 years, only because of the Islamophobia after 9/11, and they're likely trying to find out why they'd vote for a politician that has villainized Muslims in the past (Muslim ban anyone?) Yet we're seeing from other news sources that this is not the case. It was, in fact, 40% for Stein and Trump each with Gaza being the primary factor.
For example, this is from a Voice of America article on the subject.
Tumblr media
And here is the reasoning.
Tumblr media
Read that last part again.
Tumblr media
As I stated in my post about my student talking politics at me, and others on this site have pointed out as well, this same sentiment has been echoed by many across social media and IRL.
It wasn't about whether or not Trump was the better option.
It was about punishing Biden, Harris, and the Dems.
It was about burning everything down to make a point.
And here's the thing, Trump's policies and views towards Gaza are markedly worse. There will likely be an escalation, there will be no "ceasefire" or "stopping the genocide" magically as these voters want, but that doesn't matter. The Dems had to be punished.
So we're going to get 4 years of absolutely shit policies, rollbacks of rights, more policies targeting minorities, and a real chance at living in an corrupt authoritarian country all because of reactionary punitive rage based reasons.
In other words, because people decided to be immature with their vote and do a "that'll show em!"
The reasoning is utterly childish.
You don't vote to punish.
You vote to progress.
You vote to help the society you live in and help make beneficial change.
Instead, ya'll decided to act like children.
And we will all suffer for it.
When CAIR does release their data I'll update here

Colfer does a good job of capturing the tension between Artemis' intelligence and his youth.
For example, Artemis' understanding of aurum potestas est privileges the "gold" in the family motto.
Necessarily, gold was the currency of power at the time of the motto's inception, but in the context of the 21st century, the nature of power is (in some ways, in some cases etc) more complicated.
By no means did Artemis make a poor deal in divesting the People of a metric ton's worth of gold, but arguably the most "valuable" "thing" he gained from his clash with the People was proof of their existence.
There's also this scene in TLC:
“Artemis was a little dazed. ‘Well, apparently I’m almost eighteen.’ ‘God help us all. Artemis Fowl, eligible to vote.’ Artemis chuckled. ‘I’ve been voting for years.’ ”
It's such a funny form of voter fraud!
Artemis is rich! And yet, he influences elections by casting illegitimate votes (whether by compelling someone to vote as he would like or by casting votes using another identity) instead of, like, bribing and/or blackmailing politicians?
