Hot oil massage is a traditional form of massage therapy that has been practiced for centuries in many cultures around the world. It involves the use of warm oil, typically infused with herbs and essential oils, which is applied to the body and massaged into the skin. The oil is heated to a temperature that is comfortable for the client, and the therapist uses long, flowing strokes to soothe and relax the muscles.

Every time I see writing advice like 'remember to stretch your wrists!' I remember the horror my physiotherapist had when he learned I was stretching my wrists before writing but also had chronic nerve pain.
Now this is important. It's nerve pain. He stared at me and then said: Stop stretching.
I stared at him in shock and he said: Muscular pain is different from nerve pain. Stop stretching. Nerves don't respond to stretching like muscles do, it's two totally different treatments. Don't believe me? Stop stretching until our next session and tell me how you go.
And folks I've been free from nerve pain in my wrists ever since. After about a decade. And that's 2 straight years now. 2 years.
I still get muscular pain, which I stretch when that comes up and only when it comes up. But the specific pain I had from ulnar nerve impingement in both hands completely vanished. I was unknowingly making it worse because I thought stretching the nerves was the same as stretching the muscles, and thought the answer applied to everything.
(Tl;dr everyone is different. My physiotherapist is studying to become a medical doctor and will quit out of the field soon, but I always appreciated that everything he told me was solidly backed up with peer-reviewed studies and never came out of nowhere. Also his 'try it for a month and see' was so much better than 'I know I'm right' - because it left a door open for the people who realise what they thought was nerve pain was probably muscular in origin).
#personal#nerve pain vs. muscle pain#different treatments for different things#any writing advice telling you to stretch your wrists#CANNOT be applied universally#until you know exactly what's causing your pain#and friends if it's carpal tunnel or guyon's canal or ulnar nerve#the best treatment is actually resting your wrists#and not stretching#if the stretching is helping chances are there's muscular stuff going on too#anyway i'm not a doctor#but it's worth trying salkfjdsa#also i'm allowed to do other stretching#i just had to unpack the myth that stretching relieves nerves#the same way it relieves muscles/tendons

It’s disability pride month, and if you are disabled in the U.S. from Long Covid I want you to know that you’re not alone, and you’re valid in whatever you feel. Whether that’s sorrow at your new problems or rage at society for failing you, you are valid, and it is truly messed up that society is continuing to fail you.
#disability#trauma#chronic illness#long COVID#COVID#Tbh I’m not sure if I have long covid or not but I keep swinging between despair and fury#The brain fog SUCKS#I might have always had it but it feels especially bad now?#And I have all kinds of respiratory problems that got exacerbated#And possibly chronic fatigue but it’s unclear#And I’m one of the lucky ones!!!#I can still exercise without needing three days of bed rest after!#I was so RELIEVED when it turned out I could do that#I did like. Three weeks of breathing rehab to make sure#Not sure if it helped but now I’m not getting post-exertional backlash nearly as much anymore#And I didn’t lose my sense of smell or get my taste messed up#And I don’t need a respirator just an inhaler and some allergy meds and to take frequent breaks#And like. I know so many people have it worse#And that suuuuucks#But EVEN THIS makes me want to scream and rail half the time#Update as of Sept 2024 — this is no longer true#Got Covid again and now I can’t exercise without being too tired to move for three days#🙃#Probably will die mad about this actually#I had SUCH a good time working out one night#But then the next morning#Nope#head-to-toe muscle pain#couldn’t do any chores#Couldn’t even feed myself

so... basically, one of the first actions that barton does in the morning after waking up is the ' big stretch ' thing that cats normally do. and yes, he does this even if there is another person sleeping in his bed with him, so he is not embarrassed of it at all lol. it just relieves all of the tension in his muscles okok i'm sorry, i don't make the rules JSJSJ
#OF MONSTERS AND MEN: musings.#ANGER'S HELPED ME STAY ALIVE: headcanons.#here's a little tidbit for y'all about barton that i thought was a bit funny / fluffy. cue there at least being one or two cracks-#that come from his bones / joints right as he's doing this LMAO because it really is like i said... it just relieves the tension out of his#muscles so well for some reason so man's has been doing this for YEARS. but just imagine how confused a person would be if-#they had slept in the same bed with barton for the first time and all they see is just. barton stretching like a cat ☠️#AHH he really is something else sometimes isn't he guys

#my jaw is kinda funny#no it’s not it’s the worst#but it does work so points for that I guess#anyway it’s almost always tense and lots of muscle knots and shit#its frequently causing me headaches#and last time I was at my new chiropractor he gave me a stretching exercise for me to do whenever it hurts#and it worked great the first time it relieved some of the pain it was more relaxed it was great#it worked the second time as well#the third time however the muscles must’ve not been as tense holding it tightly together#bc my hypermobility showed up instead#and all of a sudden my mouth was the limiting factor#the corners of my mouth started hurting form being stretched out so much and my jaw could’ve still moved if there had been enough ‘skin’#which is so fascinating#I know my jaw is one of my more hypermobile places#or at least one that causes me a lot of issues#anyway today the stretching exercise worked and helped#and was lot limited by my mouth#which isn’t even small to begin with 😂

anyway i love karen kalamazoo pine because one the one hand she has a lot of complex inner feelings and struggles to figure out how to voice her insecurities and be vulnerable with people. It's easier to be funny and lighthearted.
On the other hand she thinks she's the funniest person in the world. Dumbass standup comedian here, performing for an audience of 1 24/7
#kaz: yeah my childhood home stopped feeling like home after that and im angry and relieved about never going back#also kaz: you think pigeons have different dialects across the country? do u think pigeons speak pidgin#my favorite pink haired idiot#big of heart and muscle. dumb of ass and impulse control#text post#gl misc#graveyard lesbians

Embrace others for their differences, for that makes you whole.
this quote has meant so much to me ever since I first saw it in TCW. and now it has an even deeper meaning for me.
today, after years of wondering and searching, I was officially diagnosed with ASD and ADHD. it was thanks to TBB that I was even able to come to the decision to get tested, and I'll be forever grateful for these characters and what they represent 💙
fun fact: I was today years old when I discovered the symbol of ADHD is a butterfly. in my fic series MLWTBB, I had Wrecker wear a shirt that I own irl, which is a yellow t-shirt with butterflies on it. I've headcanoned him having ADHD for a while now, so the yellow butterfly shirt is even more appropriate now 🥰
#the bad batch#star wars the bad batch#tbb tech#tech tbb#tbb wrecker#wrecker tbb#literally cried while I was drawing this lskjdfgioglfdk#I've never felt so relieved in my life as I was today#the pure validation of it all is straight euphoric#and it's all thanks to these boys#\o/#Goggles™#Muscles™#star warz#my artz

when you have a terrible headache all day and you finally find the correct place to massage that makes it go away for a little bit 😭 bliss
#I’ve had this headache for days#pretty sure it somethjng muscular cuz it’s only on my left side#and it goes from like behind my ear up to my scalp and behind my eye#and also down my neck and into my back muscles#so I’ve been trying to relieve it by massaging my back or neck which helps like slightly#bht I just found that pressing under my jaw is. amazing and makes it fully vanish for a bit…#the human body is insane.#I think if you have pain in one area it shouldn’t like. affect other areas#pretty rude

Release back pain
Exercise can be helpful in relieving and preventing lower back pain. Here are some exercises that can be beneficial:
Pelvic tilt: Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the ground. Tighten your abdominal muscles and press your lower back into the ground. Hold for 5 seconds and release.
Knee-to-chest stretch: Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the ground. Bring one knee up to your chest and hold for 15-30 seconds. Repeat with the other leg.
Bird dog: Start on your hands and knees. Lift your right arm and left leg straight out, keeping your back straight. Hold for a few seconds and then switch sides.
Bridge: Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the ground. Lift your hips up toward the ceiling, squeezing your glutes. Hold for a few seconds and then lower back down.
Cat-cow stretch: Start on your hands and knees. Arch your back up like a cat and then lower it down like a cow. Repeat several times.
Cobra pose: Lie on your stomach with your hands under your shoulders. Press up through your hands, lifting your chest and arching your back. Hold for a few seconds and then lower back down.
Child's pose: Kneel on the ground and stretch your arms forward, lowering your forehead to the mat. Hold for several seconds.
Remember to start slowly and gradually increase the intensity and duration of your exercises. If you experience pain or discomfort during any exercise, stop and consult with a medical professional.
