Like Saburo getting left with Rei when Ichiro escaped and Rei caring for Saburo deeply but also being super manipulative and turning him against his brothers. This idea has been circulating in my brain for like a week maybe I just need to finally figure out how to draw men 😭

😊 SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES — what are your oc's career/general life desires ? what do they want to get the most out of life ?

Rei is a bit too young to have any sort of life goal set. Truth be told, he has issues with figuring these things out, like at all. Which is anxiety-inducing, but he’s also only 15 so he’ll have time to figure it out. Although, I do think he has thoughts about getting into filmmaking, since he does write from time to time.

Andie’s current major goal in life is to compete in the quad-world Championships. Which is like the Olympics (which they also wish to compete in) but bigger, since it involves all four worlds of Earth, Tsym, Effedonia, and Malcedom. Other than that, not much besides having fun. 

Timothy is kinda in the same boat as Rei, minus the anxiety. He’s just kinda going with the flow, minding his own business (but also not at all lol). Though I could totally see him becoming a professor in mythology, anthropology, or even psychology or something similar. 

Nico I feel would be content if he just has a place for himself. That’s it. So long as he can just be in peace, he’ll be fine. Obviously he’d love to have someplace to grow his plants, but more than that he’s not asking for. Though I love the idea of him running his own bakery where he grows the ingredients himself. 

Mike’s goal is to become a full-time artist. Whether that means being a freelance illustrator, hired concept artist, or even animator, doesn’t really matter. So long as he can work with something artistic and be able to live comfortably from it, he’ll be happy. 

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 FAMILY WITH MOTHER, FATHER, SON AND DAUGHTER — how many people are in your oc's immediate family ? how many people are in your oc's extended family ? do they have aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc ? who in their family are they closest with ? are they close with their birth family, or do they have a found family ?

Biological family is actually something I haven’t thought about when it comes to this wip. With the slight exception of Nico whose family is not, umm, that good. Basically, bio family so far hasn’t really been important to the story (aside from Nico) so I haven’t given time to figure that whole thing out.

Really, what’s most important family-wise is the found family of the boys !

I don’t think I’ve talked about it in depth so I’ll do it here. Something that is very important to me when I write is the relationship between the male characters. Obviously f/f and m/f relationships are important too, but specifically m/m friendships are important.

Growing up I really liked what ‘sisterhood’ represented; unbreakable bonds of friendship, trust, love, emotional vulnerability, loyalty, all that good stuff. But as a closeted enby I couldn’t comfortably identify with it, and I felt that the way ‘brotherhood’ was presented to me was missing that connection. Which, honestly isn’t too surprising given how media (and general society too) hates it when boys are emotionally vulnerable and/or affectionate with each other. So basically, I want to create a type of ‘brotherhood’ that encompasses the same idéas as ‘sisterhood’ but is more easy for guys like me to identify. 

This is actually the reason why the majority of my main characters are boys, or else transmasc lmao

he has a different sort of vibe about him while in love, rather shockingly easy to read despite the enigma of a man he was

it's hard to decipher what rei is thinking, of course (nothing too unusual); but, instead, there's a bit of a skip, if you will, in his attitude and demeanor

there's a shift in the way he talks, a more teasing (?) speech. he's commenting and cracking some jokes here and there, that sly and dirty grin of his now looking a little less so

sasara and rosho have never been more confused by their teammate. it's subtle, definitely, but they could certainly sense that something was amiss. it was that obvious, in a sense, even if they couldn't quite put their finger on it

it's the way his smiles feel more genuine and have a much brighter air around them; it's the way his teasing is a bit more light-hearted, and the happiness is ever so evident in his tone

and he has the softest tone imaginable (well, as soft as they could imagine when it came to rei) when he comes to talk about a particular person - never delving into the specifics of course. it's hard to miss, after all, especially with the way he looked much more visibly relaxed

and, well, it's pretty obvious to his teammates that he was nothing more than in love (which was somewhat of a foreign concept? perhaps. rei certainly didn't seem like the type from how they got to know him)

yet rei fervently denies

"an old guy like me? in love? ha, you're too flattering nurude"

why, he hasn't been in love in ages! or so it seems like. he couldn't possibly be in love, not when one of the most important person to him has been long gone

it's been too long in fact; he couldn't quite recall the last time he felt such lively feelings, when his old heart felt so rejuvenated

yet the prospect does somewhat intimidate him. it's been so long, in fact, and it's a little hard to let someone else in after his past or even accept the fact that he's fallen for you, hard

yet, it's becomes much more painfully obvious. sasara and rosho almost can't bear to see their teammate deny just how hopelessly in love he was with this mystery person (they'd certainly almost have no clue it was you)

and they try to get him to confess, to admit that he was, at the very least, in love (if only for the satisfaction that they were able to deduce rei correctly) despite his insistence

but...he's a bit of a persistent fellow, that's for sure, much to his teammate's tad annoyance

and it's not until one day when he's chatting with you again amidst the osaka streets, keeping up his usual act, that rei realizes once and for all

it's odd how his heart rate spikes a little when you look directly in his eyes - just a bit that it was barely noticeable; even more so, it's odd how at ease? he feels around you, how it feels a tad harder to keep up his walls. your presence is comforting, a little annoyingly so

and it doesn't take too long to figure out how right those two were, how he let himself find comfort in someone again. it's a little funny, perhaps, rei unable to help but chuckle at himself (since when did those two beat him at his own game?)

Rei Yamada was sure joining art school would be a good idea! It really wasn’t he felt more and more like shit as this school kept pushing his boundaries in his practices than he met one of the acting majors of the school he decided he was gonna try talking to her it took awhile but eventually he had a chance and well it went really well an artist and actor a pair made in heaven high school was still the worst thing to happen to him but Rei was really happy to meet his future wife and mother of his kids during those years but now she's gone his kids hated him, and he was doing science….his life is bullshit.

OC-tober day 2: Dance

I've been working on OC-tober stuff very slowly but i have them done! I just keep forgetting to post them. @oc-growth-and-development

Rei breathed out, lifted her arm, and raised her leg back.

“Stop. Do it again," Cassian's voice echoed in the dance studio softly.

She sighed and went back to her starting position. She repeated the movements.

“No. Again.”

She put her foot down and sighed, “Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong Grandpa Cassain?”

Cassian walked over to Rei and guided her movements, “Your leg and arm are stiff and you need point your toes.” He let go of her leg and arm and stepped back, “Again.”

She frowned and tried again.

“Good. Continue.”

Rei inwardly smiled and continued with the routine.

rei, despite his sleaziness at times and the aura of mystery that constantly surrounded him, was a man of his word, first and foremost

he keeps the promises he makes, his end of the deal always, even when dealing with the most egregious of clients, you've come to learn throughout your guys' relationship

it could be the smallest or most inconsequential of promises, ones that would perhaps slip your mind, but rei would always stay true to his word

so when he makes a comment to you one night indoors, a little bit tipsy perhaps (though it was difficult to tell since he was never one to get too flushed or vulnerable given his high alcohol tolerance), stating that the two of you were going to get married one day, it was practically going to come true

it was a bit hard to not pass if off as a lighthearted comment on your end, however, perhaps as nothing more as a endearing statement, said to know just how much you meant to him

as much as in your heart you knew that it was a promise your boyfriend had made, especially since as easygoing and flippant as rei seemed, he never would make such bold statements if he truly didn't mean it, you decided to simply pass it off as simply his teasing way of saying 'i love you'

perhaps it was the fact that such a comment made you just a tad too flustered, given that rei had said it so casually (and with such an attractive yet genuine smile he wore!) or perhaps it was because he had been so casual about it that you passed it off as nothing more than drunken talk

but well, the thought of spending the future with rei, of being able to call one another husband (not that he doesn't already as a pet name i'm sure lol), ahh, that did feel rather good actually

rei is quite the difficult man to read, even in relationships, so the proposal surely comes as a surprise as well, rather out of the blue

he's quite secretive after all, always so good at hiding things to the point that it didn't leave much to suspect; well, besides the fact that rei very much gave off sleazy vibes

never does let you know of his intention to propose, and when he purposely drops hints here and there, usually in quite the teasing sense, rei always does so in a way that it wasn't too suspecting of what he actually was thinking of

rei def plans out the entire interaction in his mind, even when the proposal isn't all that big

it was a decision with much weight behind it after all, asking the love of his life to marry him. he had someone rather important to him before, and perhaps it was because this was such a similar experience to him that it meant a lot

ofc, i don't think he's one to have much anxiety behind such a choice. actually, i think it comes quite easily to rei, having confidence and having made up his mind; but i also see how he may be a little hesitant at first, though from what we know of rei, i think he's able to sort it all out pretty quickly or with ease

when it comes time, his proposal is, well, certainly not generic or cheesy, i'll give you that

honestly, i think rei would propose quite casually as well, though in place of his usual frivolous attitude, he was actually quite serious

"how about you become my husband?"

it was so casual, so out of the blue, as if it was nothing more than an ordinary question, that it completely catches you off-guard

marriage?? ah, that certainly was an idea. you had no idea that rei had actually steered the conversation in such a direction so that he would be able to pop the question

but really, instead of that lighthearted tone of his you had come to expect, rei sounded quite serious

there was a sort of genuine smile on his face, a soft look in his eyes, his tone rather serious. it made rei seem just a tad bit vulnerable maybe, as if he was opening himself to you

rei had certainly meant it, wanting to marry you that is. ah, he loved you so, one of the most important people in his life (and there were few and far between i assume)

he truly did want nothing more than to spend the rest of his days as an "old man" (he loved to joke of himself like that) with you

i'm sure he has a ring box in like his pocket or something as well - mayhaps with such a glistening jewel at its forefront, so beautiful and radiant in any sort of light, the best of the best for you - ready to slip it on you if you do accept, to make it the title of fiancé official

well, the title fiancé always did have such a nice ring to it in rei's mind
