HEEHEEEHEHEEE DO I EVER

i started writing a quick list, got carried away, and just went hogwild, so under readmore for length. the list is NOT comprehensive by the way, i grabbed the ones i had an immediate bookmark for but PLEASE know i have a solid twenty or thirty more in my favourites folder. feel free to send recommendations if you have any!

starting off strong with under my skin by queen whamgram. for those of you unlucky enough not to have read it, it's an ongoing canon compliant story following alastor and charlie falling in love and developing a relationship together, and it is literally always open in a tab both on my laptop and on my phone. just the best, best, best charlastor fic. i adore it so much. please read this story and then scream about it with me.

absolutely anything by @firebreathingrubberduck who is just an absolutely queen legend saint of charlastor smut, but a soft place in my heart is always reserved for i can explain, which is an au where charlie and alastor are roommates (alastor is a serial killer, and that's shockingly not the major obstacle in this story.)

i'm obsessed with split by midnightchemist, who has matched my freak on twitter too many times to count and whom i adore. it's a two parter, where through unforeseen events, human alastor is brought to hell to meet demon alastor and charlie. it goes exactly as you hope.

midnight fawn by justmondayagain is shockingly not smut! but it's a domestic au where alastor and charlie become parents and are handling a newborn. it's genuinely so soft and loving that i sometimes reread it whenever i'm feeling out of sorts, it just turns me into mush. the author has been adding chapters to it which is like every christmas present at once.

hallowed be thy name by yinyentwins was probably the first charlastor oneshot i ever read, and god what a perfect way to introduce me to the fandom. originally set as just the one chapter, it looks like the author is planning to expand, which has me SO excited. just a warning that it DOES mention consensual open relationship / infidelity, but it's not a major component of the story.

worship by shardetector is a two-shot of canon-compliant charlastor first time (and also second and third.) it's both soft and extremely sensual, and just a total delight to read. it focuses on alastor's point of view and just immediately starts in on the action, i'm a huge fan of this fic.

broadcast by carried_away is a SUPER CUTE human au. charlie and alastor become unplanned work partners to open charlie's rehabilitation center in new orleans, but face a growing opposition comprised of shady characters. the chemistry between the two is INSANELY good, but the author does a fantastic job of spacing out the scope of each character and their influence. absolutely loved this fic, and it's completed!

shadows in the bayou, by shirokitsune95, is an ongoing human(?) au that has got me absolutely enthralled. you know when you're reading a story, and the prose is just so gripping, and you don't realize you're finished the chapter until the last line? that's sitb. just absolutely stellar writing, and as it's only a few chapters in, the mystery and intrigue is really getting set up. there's immediate chemistry between charlie and alastor which i adore (nothing i love more than the two finding instant connection together and flirting without realizing it); i'm really excited to see where this one goes!

wrecking force by zirekile is my absolutely favourite professor / student au. erin won't see this so she can't stop me saying nice things here, but goddd i love the dynamic set up from the first few chapters. alastor is hot and cold but clearly drawn to charlie, and charlie is just such a cute goof trying to make sense of their insane compatibility. highly recommend.

i think you might be ruining me (i might like it) by gloriouscacaphony was, i believe, written in response to a tweet i made talking about how i wanted to see more fics have alastor just gobwild for charlie when she's touching him, and this fic delivered tenfold!!! canon compliant, simple one-shot where charlie blows alastor and he collapses about it, my FAVOURITE

you need to read both a stormy night in the hotel and the labyrinth by ventessa, because oh my goddd oh my god, oh my god. stormy night follows charlie and alastor's sexual awakening together and the development of their physical relationship - it's just supremely hot, well-developed, and surprisingly tender. there's insane character development even while they're fucking, which is the height of talent in my personal opinion. labyrinth is an au that hooked me immediately, where each year, contestants of hell navigate a mysterious and deadly maze; the winner achieves immunity from the annual purge. charlie enters to achieve immunity for all of hell, and meets the elusive and dangerous radio demon. currently, both fics are unfinished, but they're still worth the read i HIGHLY encourage it.

the devil in love, by shadow_logic. i actually recommend all the charlastor fics shadow_logic has written, but their fics are the kind you don't want to just shuffle through looking for distraction. shadow_logic is such a brilliant, clever, witty writer; you feel so accomplished when you get a reference they're putting down, and just so drawn in to every plot and twist. it's a rich and rewarding kind of story, each and every time.

impulse, by causa, explores one of my all-time favourite charlastor tropes - the mating rut. warning for infidelity within the fic, but alastor being just so down bad for charlie is my weakness, and he's this with the fic in spades.

i do, mrs malveaux by mochaangel HOOHOOOOO LEMME JUST SAY. MOCHA DOES THIS TIME PERIOD SO WELL. it's a human au where charlie and alastor agree to marry to mutual benefit, but not for love - or so they think!!! and there was only one bed!!!!!! as always, mocha knows what my heart craves and serves accordingly.

hush, hush, hush - here comes the boogeyman by thebonezone is a dark fic, but it is. so good. genuinely made me reevaluate myself after i finished. kat writes an au where human charlie accidentally (or not so accidentally) stumbles upon a demonic entity, who finds himself enticed with her. size difference comes out to play BIG time here, and there's definitely monster overtones (he's a demon harold) but my god, what a way to go.

behind the curtain, by devoted_stargazer, has a simple premise: charlie is shopping for a halloween costume. alastor is coming along to help her out of it. they fuck in a changing room (rosie i pray you have cleaners.)

talk to me, alastor by divinedevil has phone sex - in hell! another amazing fic with alastor down so bad for charlie; he goes from nervous to ravenous in about three lines. IDEAL setting.

preaching to the fire by mithril_owl. it's a priest au!!! mithril is one of my favourite charlastor authors - their other fics are just an absolute delight - and they very kindly allowed me to read over this one, which i failed to make any edits to because a) it was perfect, b) PRIEST AU PRIEST AU PRIEST AU!!! a oneshot with just phenomenal pacing and stellar chemistry, I'M A FAN.

to the radio demon on his birthday, by papercrane. this is one of my all time favourite one-shots, shockingly tame all things considered. it's a burlesque spin on the canon dynamic, and alastor is absolutely heart in his eyes head-over-heels obsessed with charlie. cherry-wine sweet and the smoothest pour, i adore this drabble.

puppetry by fluffyboots. krissie is one of those writers who just radiates talents. every update looks so effortless, and more importantly, every update delivers. puppetry is a canon-compliant au wherein charlie, before she begins her hotel, seeks to know her subjects better, and sets up temporary residence in cannibal town. she's drawn into the allure and intrigue, of course, but more specifically, she's drawn to alastor, the mysterious and charismatic master of the radio. this story is ongoing, and brilliantly, breathtakingly, written.

i would be absolutely remiss if i did not mention the charlastor classics, so without further ado!

the riddle of magic, by rubyfoxfire. i read up to chapter fifty in two days (sleep was not included) and was absolutely obsessed from there on out. ROM is canon-adjacent - it follows the general premise of the series, but deviates pretty far in terms of its own canon. ruby does a fantastic job exploring the evolution of alastor and charlie's relationship as alastor teaches her his form of magic. this fic is a long one, but i find it well worth the jaunt - it's got such a rich lore, strong development, and powerful structure. it might take you a few days, but you'll be the better off for it.

the taxidermist, by angelus19. this is probably the defining charlastor fic - even if you haven't read it, there's a good chance you've heard about it. the story is split between alastor and charlie's perspectives, and that can be jarring at first; that being said, there's a huge reward in keeping up. a scene told from one view gets new context in the next, and the chemistry is developed over several chapters. this is a human au, written long before the series aired, so the author really developed the lore as their own, and it's stunning. arguably my favourite part is that, once alastor admits he wants charlie, he is loathe to keep his hands off her. the fic has concluded in the spanish translation, and the english translation is just missing the ending!

smiling man by musevalentine. this is such a great fic; do not ever ask me to read it again LMAO. another human au, and a long one; the plot weaves a gripping narrative, and it's always that urge to find out what happens next that will keep you going. disclaimer, i do like this fic - i think it's well-written, well-plotted, and incredibly well-structured. that being said, i finished reading it at 5 am on a tuesday morning and literally just stared at my ceiling for three hours before i could get up after. this is a heavy hitter, and it's not a happy ending, but it's worth a mention in terms of older charlastor fics that are famous in the fandom. do not go into this expecting a good time, but don't miss the development by skipping it all together!

Dick was never a jerk to Jason when he was Robin- they got along because Dick is mature as hell and in one retelling- Jason was a jerk to him!! And when he came back as Red Hood he had literally not a single damn reason to treat Dick like shit! Not a damn one! But he did, didn't he? Cause he's the fucking asshole! How dare you make Dick grovel towards that bastard! Dick has only ever tried to help him! Reached out during his Batman run, over and over! Also- Dick never put Jason in Arkham with Joker just a few cells down???? What the fuck! The Joker and all those other fuckers had been broken out of Arkham by Black Mask already for like the whole run??? Jason went to Arkham after losing to Dick, and Gordon put him in there because One he fucking deserved it, Two the literal circumstances?? And at that point!! Arkham was fucking rehabilitated itself!! By Dick!!! Because Bruce had him go undercover there for real, and Dick was actually tortured there before he got out!! So Dick put in the work to get that shit in order to actually help people!!

Dick never chose Damian over Tim- Tim refused to engage with him over his grief, shut him out, and left of his own devices! He never told Dick his suspicions on why Bruce was alive, never! And Tim is not the one to bring Bruce back either, there's a whole team at that point! Dick learns Bruce is alive through tossing his 'dead' body into a pit and the body comes to life as a zombie. Tim didn't tell him shit! Tim is also not a little crybaby- Damian cutting his line was a fucking blip on the page, he was momentarily shocked, that was it! He put Damian on his Hit List, which is why Damian cut his line. And his first attempt at "murder" is just pushing Tim off the dinosaur statue in the cave, he didn't go all assassin on him! Also Dick wasn't even there the first incident and wasn't told about the second incident. Alfred is the one who gave Damian Robin and Dick accepted him because he saw that Damian needed help! He needed guidance! He didn't fucking fire Tim the way Bruce fired him, and fuck all of you for thinking that Tim or Jason or fucking anyone has more right over Robin than Dick Fucking Grayson! He tried to promote Tim and Tim walked off. How dare yall make Dick fucking grovel towards that bastard!!!

The Aether Foundation funds a lot of research into studying artificially created pokemon like genesect. Since genesect are too aggressive for most trainers to handle and too dangerous to be left on their own, quite a few of them have been rehabilitated at Aether Paradise.

N has befriended quite a few ultra beasts who can't return home through Gladion and Aether Paradise.

Brycen met Diantha before she became champion through their acting careers. She once fifted him an amaura egg.

Piers is a fan of Roxie's music.

Colress went to Area Zero and met the AI professor before the time machine was shut down. He pocketed a few paradox pokemon for his troubles.

Lenora treated Cynthia to a battle and a private tour of her museum when she visited Unova in BW1 and the two had a giant nerd fest together. Steven made Cynthia promise to bring him to meet Lenora next time she visited- and she did, during the Pokemon World Tournament.

Bianca once tried to study the Abyssal Ruins, but after realizing something was down there with her she decided some things are better left alone. The stranger with a togekiss who was a little too interested in the plates Bianca had found also didn't help.

Juliana, Florian, and Kieran went to Nimbassa City on a BBA League Club fieldtrip to the Gear Station Battle Subway. After they had to leave early due to Crispin's motion sickness, they spent the rest of the day dressing up their pokemon in the Musical Theater. This was all three's first time in Unova.

Virizion felt sorry for Iron Leaves for being ripped away from their world by a human's folly, and more or less adopted them into the Swords of Justice. Keldeo was excited to have an underclassman. They parted on incredibly good terms after encountering Iron Boulder and Iron Crown, where Iron Leaves decided to go with them.

I do imagine he would have a family post-canon after he’s (hopefully) found and recovered.

I’m a huge fan of @omagpies’s post-canon fix it AU “and the door below it splinters,” where Curly and Anya make it, start over, fall in love, and eventually settle down and have a child (would highly recommend giving Magpie’s fic a read if you like Curlya. It’s incredibly wholesome and sweet). Been meaning to make fan comics of their au for awhile. It will happen, so keep an eye out! :)

My morbid obsession with Coruscant has always been around how we've seen it (it's so twisted! it just keeps burying itself, layer by layer! the iconic episode 10 Luthen&Lonni shot is of course an excellent example of the old mostly-forgotten infrastructure but my favorite glimpse of the depths is actually in the final Clone Wars season (there's a fucking lake! fucking what. and even THAT is like... so HIGH relative to the surface) (the SURFACE! there's some twisted remnant of a dead planet down there!) (I have gathered through the course of researching for a TBB fic that the TCW portrayal is largely born from a canceled video game called 1313? I think? Lost to the Dark Times the Disney I imagine. Anyway I digress)(MiniPoe just came down to tell me about his Sonic Encyclo-speedia and something about Metal Sonic getting too much backstory(?)(maybe?)so I lost my train of thought)).

BUT if we take a moment to imagine the infrastructure that must go into keeping the lower levels habitable (I'm not sure what the canon (if any) on how deep one can go) with food and water and air (I mean - AIR, at some depth surely it's just suffocating surely??) -

Side tangent there was an old EU novel in the New Jedi Order bonkers era where a mass evacuation of Coruscant/collapse of the government-ish happened and the novel Traitor has a character wandering the desolation of the planet and all the destruction and I don't remember a lot from it (there were def monsters though) but it's probably where my obsession was born.

Additional side tangent one of the EU X-wing novels has a fun little bit with a star destroyer buried (somehow??? these books were written pre-prequels, mind) under the city and it blasts its way free and just MAYHEM DESTRUCTION DEATH like millions of people just -

LAST side tangent in I thiiiiink the EU Jedi Academy trilogy (do not quote me on that) (also pre-prequels days) the Very Young Solo twins wandered off and ended up finding their way to the bottom of Coruscant where they met a dude who was like... a self-proclaimed king of the underworld (I think he'd once been some govt lackey under Palpatine maybe? I read these like 14 years ago lol) and he'd fled and was ruling happily in the depths and upon being informed 'oh hey yeah it's not like that anymore the Empire is gone you can come back up now' he was all "why would I I am a KING down here?" and just fucked off back to the basement.

Point being the EU was ridiculous as all fuck but it had fun playing with Coruscant before we had a Lucas-approved visual of Coruscant.

BUT if all the wealth up and fled Coruscant after the Empire. Hm. I mean, we still see a significant govt presence on the planet a handful of years later in Mando s3 I believe? So I like to imagine there was a sense of 'hey let's not murder trillions via negligence' but as time goes on and instability heightens and whatever the fuck First Order schisming or some shit (sorry I'm the worst sort of Star Wars fan (the type who thinks Star Wars would be good if only it were good))-

I feel like Coruscant would actually become a bastion (lol (no one gets that joke probably)) for remaining (wealthy) Imperial ideologues. Like - maybe some money would flee but I actually wonder if plenty wouldn't move in and continue enjoying living atop all the poor denizens of the depths. Content to live in the shadow of former Imperial glory and leave the New Republic to its rebuilding.

Ensuing power struggle with underworld warlord sorts who have been moving up since the Empire was yeeted? Waiting until the New Republic gets bored rehabilitating the galaxy to come all the way up and claim the prime real estate?

Eventual massive division and power struggle among a bunch of chaos factions, basically, is my proposal. Eventually, winning becomes more important than maintaining the infrastructure and supply lines. Eventually, maybe, the vicious competition for said supply lines ends up severing them altogether. Plenty of safer business to pursue, in the galactic rebuilding. Coruscant slowly fades from the greater galactic awareness. Left to its madness. Left to tear itself apart. Left to rot. Eventually left, undoubtedly, by many of the same sorts who set it on its slow death spiral in the first place.

Coruscant eventually goes dark.

Coruscant eventually goes quiet.

Every new level constructed through the millennia was, of course, built to be the best, the top, built to last.

How strange to finally have one emerge the victor, standing proud atop a dead city.

But the planet is just the same thing it always was, far back as history remembers - a tomb at the heart of the galaxy.

Which of the following ShigaDeku fic ideas sound the most interesting to you?

I have a handful of ShigaDeku fics I've been consistently working on over the past couple of months. I keep switching back and forth and writing out small scenes for each story in order to get a sense of the direction I want to take them in. They're all different flavors of dark romance and hurt/comfort and have great potential. I just can't decide which one I want to write first. Help meeeeeee! 😭😭😭

I need your opinions, ShigaDeku fans! Could you tell me which one of the following story ideas sounds the most interesting or even rate them out of four like 1/4, 2/4, etc. based on your interest? 🥺👉👈

Canon Divergence Soulmate AU

Dark romance, action, hurt/comfort, and psychological drama.

Long-lost childhood friends to mortal enemies to soulmates.

Heroes vs. villains dilemma (fixing systemic issues in hero society together with Hawks + Aizawa + the League of Villains).

Izu and Shiga discovering they're not only childhood friends but also soulmates whose souls are tied to each other for eternity.

Set in canon universe and loosely follows the MHA storyline EXCEPT it actually has a genuinely hopeful ending, gives the League a redemption arc, and achieves lasting changes for society!

Yakuza Stepbrother AU

Dark romance, suspense, hurt/comfort, and crime drama.

Izu and Shiga are stepbrothers through Inko's secret marriage to All For One fifteen years prior to the beginning of the story.

Shigaraki inheritance dilemma (Izu signs away his rights to the fortune away because Inko (on her deathbed) told him to do so in order to protect him from getting involved with mafia drama. Too bad she didn't consider Shiga becoming obsessed with Izu upon meeting him and dragging him into the mafia world anyway). 😅

Yakuza territory war dilemma (because Izu is technically Shiga's stepbrother by marriage, he's threatened strongly encouraged to stay with the Shigaraki family until its safe for him to move out.

Tartarus Rehabilitation AU

Dark romance, thriller, hurt/comfort, and psychological drama.

Izu is a therapist-in-training who believes in rehabilitation for criminals. Shiga is a serial killer incarcerated in Tartarus for going on killing sprees targeting people who are cruel to animals.

Due to one of Izu's co-workers being sick, he's called in to cover for an interview with none other than Shiga himself. By the end of the interview, Shiga becomes infatuated with Izu and refuses to speak to anyone else or release important details about his murders unless Izu is the one questioning him.

Shiga's obsession eventually becomes worse and worse until he breaks out of Tartarus with the help of All For One (because of course he does) and Izu is like, well shit, time to go into hiding!

Paranormal Fantasy AU

Dark romance, paranormal fantasy, hurt/comfort, and horror.

Izu is a mystic who specializes in healing medicine for immortal beings like vampires, lycans, shapeshifters, mages, certain kinds of demons, undead, cursed beings, and of course, all of the supernatural hunters who get hurt keeping these beings in line.

Shiga is a hybrid of unknown origin (haven't decided if he's going to be a half-demon or half-vampire yet) who gets grievously injured one day defending his territory from an opposing coven leader.

Dabi drags Shiga to Izu's remote cottage and demands that the mystics heal his coven leader or he'll slaughter him right then and there. Izu, never being able to deny someone in need of healing, decides that he'll heal Shiga as long as his coven provides protection while he stays in their territory, and Dabi agrees.

Over the course of a week, Shiga stays in Izu's cottage with him as Izu slowly uses his magic to heal Shiga's wounds. Shiga spends the entire time obsessively taking in every detail of Izu's life, trying to figure out why he's on the run and how Shiga can make Izu join his coven and make him stay with Shiga forever.

Pretty please let me know which one of these story ideas you liked the most! My ADHD brain is really struggling with which one to go for, so I would really appreciate your opinion on these. 💚💚💚
