Regulus, absolutely despising it but wanting to make it perfect, goes to Sirius to ask him how to show Remus that he wants to court him. Because he only knows the pure blood way, and normal ‚dating‘ is a strange concept to him

Sirius, thinking his snake of a little brother wants to humiliate Remus, and tells him the most stupid shit that will turn the tables and cause Regulus to be the humiliated one.

Remus, after Regulus surprisingly did exactly as Sirius told him, is so pissed that he would have probably cursed the younger boy, if there hadn’t been so many witnesses.

Sirius, now realising that Regulus had been honest about wanting to court Remus, grovels and begs both Remus and Regulus for forgiveness.

Regulus is too hurt and embarrassed to do anything but curse Sirius after he told the truth, vowing to never look at Remus again.

Until Remus stands in front of him, following the entire pure blood etiquette of the first courting step, after a detailed instruction of Sirius about the whole thing.

The next day rumor has it that both Regulus and Remus are off the market.

Boys and girls from all houses and years were weeping.

Sirius is hoping they forgive him before the wedding, because he would love to give either his brother or his best friend away to the other, depending on who wants to walk down the aisle.

A few years later, he does.

Regulus is frightened. It is not Remus’ height, or his scars that make him feel this way. It’s his gentleness, the way someone as imposing as him can be so utterly unaware of the threat he poses, how someone like him cowers at the barest hint of confrontation. Remus is so unlike him, yet in many ways entirely alike. Regulus can’t decide how to feel about it. He cannot comprehend the way Remus is able to look at him, with such fondness.

When Remus looks at him, he sees him. This is terrifying and yet so utterly gratifying, all Regulus has ever wanted was to be seen and Remus seems to understand this. He doesn’t push him, he doesn’t ask for anything, he’s just there. He’s there and that’s enough.

Sirius would probably faint when Regulus and Remus, his little brother and his best friend, announce their relationship.

And then he would be torn: should he threaten Reg or Rem? Should he have the shovel talk with both or none?

In the end he just settles on „If I hear of any broken hearts, there will be broken bones.“

Both know he is bluffing, as he would never hurt any of them, but they are also very touched by his attempt at support.
