Hello! I'm about to start looking for a job. I've already got four references. I was wondering if you have any advice for a reference page? I have their current emails and what they were at the time I worked with them, tho none of them are with those companies anymore...getting lost in the options. Any advice?
Here's how I'd format your reference page for each reference:
[Full name of reference]
[Current phone], [current email]
Previously my manager at [company name]
Currently a [job title] at [new company name]
This'll make it clear.
I once had a job interview where they were really excited to talk to me about my experience at a particular company, and I was like "I... never worked there???" and they were like "But your reference works there???" and I had to explain that that's where he CURRENTLY worked, but I'd worked with him at his previous company. This... quelled their enthusiasm somewhat. So your concerns are valid, and you definitely want to get this right.

Can crowdsourced information during times of crisis (e.g. pandemic, natural disasters) mobilise the public into action (e.g. get to safety, assist those in need, communicate important information, etc.)?
Social Media as a Tool for Mobilization Social media platforms serve as powerful tools for crowdsourcing during crises. They facilitate not only the sharing of information but also community engagement and mobilization. For instance, during natural disasters like hurricanes or floods, platforms such as Twitter and Facebook enable individuals to share real-time updates about conditions in their areas. Hashtags like #HurricaneHarvey or #COVID19 allow users to categorize their posts, making it easier for others to find relevant information quickly. In addition to sharing updates, social media can foster community solidarity by encouraging individuals to assist one another. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many communities used social media to organize food drives, volunteer efforts, and mutual aid networks. These initiatives demonstrated how digital platforms could mobilize people into collective action even when physical gatherings were not possible.
Tumblr media
Case Study: The 2018 Palu-Donggala Earthquake The effectiveness of crowdsourced data was again highlighted during the 2018 Palu-Donggala earthquake in Indonesia. In just three days following the disaster, volunteers mapped key infrastructure using OpenStreetMap, providing essential geographic data for responders 5. This rapid mapping effort enabled authorities to assess damage accurately and coordinate relief efforts effectively. The collaborative nature of crowdsourced mapping allowed for a diverse range of contributors to participate, enhancing the overall quality and reliability of the data collected. Challenges and Considerations While crowdsourced information has proven invaluable in crisis situations, it is not without challenges. The reliability of data can vary significantly based on contributor expertise; inaccurate or misleading information can lead to poor decision-making during emergencies. Therefore, it is crucial for organizations utilizing crowdsourced data to implement validation processes that ensure accuracy. Moreover, issues related to misinformation—particularly prevalent on social media—can undermine trust in crowdsourced efforts. During crises, false information can spread rapidly, complicating response efforts and potentially endangering lives. It is essential for both individuals and organizations to critically evaluate sources and verify information before acting on it. Conclusion: Harnessing Collective Intelligence In conclusion, crowdsourced information plays a pivotal role in mobilizing public action during times of crisis. By leveraging social media platforms' affordances—such as real-time communication and community engagement—individuals can contribute valuable insights that enhance emergency responses. Historical examples like the Haiti earthquake response and recent events such as the Palu-Donggala earthquake illustrate the potential of collective intelligence in crisis management. As we continue to navigate an increasingly interconnected world, fostering a culture of collaboration through crowdsourcing will be essential for building resilient communities capable of responding effectively to future challenges. This is a real thing and I love it! Nearly all of the people I know who are specifically into pain in sex are disabled or have chronic pain (myself included). Pain is something that controls me so much of the time and it’s annoying and inconvenient at best. Being able to control pain - either by causing it, or being able to safeword/otherwise stop it - is a very very nice change of pace. Dr. Emma Sheppard does a lot of really interesting work about this!
One must imagine Sisyphus getting some sort of sick sexual pleasure out of all that

Imbolc Altar Ideas & Correspondences
Tumblr media
Imbolc, also known as Candlemas or Brigid's Day, marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. It's a time to celebrate the returning light and the awakening of the Earth.
Altar Decorations:
Candles: Imbolc is strongly associated with the element of fire. Decorate your altar with candles in shades of white, yellow, and light blue to represent the increasing daylight.
Brigid's Cross: Craft or purchase a Brigid's Cross, a traditional symbol associated with the Celtic goddess Brigid. Hang it on your altar as a protective charm.
Seasonal Flowers: Place early spring flowers like snowdrops, crocuses, and daffodils on your altar. These symbolize the first signs of life returning to the land.
Herbs: Incorporate herbs such as rosemary, thyme, and cinnamon for their purifying and invigorating properties. Bundle them together with a red or white ribbon.
Seeds: Represent the potential for growth by adding a dish of seeds to your altar. Consider seeds associated with early spring crops like wheat or herbs.
Imbolc Symbols: Include symbols like lambs, ewes, and the sun to capture the essence of this seasonal transition.
Candle Holders: Choose unique candle holders or lanterns to enhance the ambiance. Consider using candle holders in the shape of suns, stars, or nature-inspired designs.
Divination Tools: Add divination tools like tarot cards or runes to your altar for seeking guidance during this transitional period.
Symbolic Stones: Integrate crystals such as citrine for abundance, aquamarine for clarity, and moonstone for intuition. Arrange them aesthetically around your altar.
Feathers: Symbolizing air and spirituality, feathers can be incorporated to invoke the energy of the season. Choose feathers from birds associated with the goddess Brigid, like swans or owls.
Artwork: Display artwork or illustrations that resonate with the themes of Imbolc. This could include depictions of Brigid, snow-covered landscapes, or symbols of growth and renewal.
Imbolc Incense: Craft or purchase incense blends with scents like frankincense, myrrh, and chamomile to fill your sacred space with a soothing and purifying aroma.
Correspondences
Goddess Brigid: Imbolc is sacred to Brigid, the Celtic goddess of hearth, home, and inspiration. Invoke her energy for healing, creativity, and protection.
Colors: White, yellow, light green, and light blue are associated with Imbolc. Use these colors in candles, altar cloths, and decorations to align with the festival's energy.
Stones: Crystals such as amethyst, garnet, and clear quartz resonate with Imbolc's energies.
Foods: Dairy products, especially cheese, and foods made with seeds like bread or muffins are fitting for Imbolc. Set offerings on your altar or incorporate them into your celebration feast.
Water: Imbolc is also associated with the element of water. Include a small bowl of water on your altar to symbolize purification.
Creativity Symbols: Imbolc is a time for inspiration and creative endeavors. Include symbols of your creative pursuits, such as a paintbrush, musical instrument, or writing quill.
Anointing Oils: Create or purchase anointing oils infused with herbs like lavender, rosemary, and frankincense. Use them to anoint candles, tools, or yourself during Imbolc rituals.
Animal Representations: Incorporate figurines or images of animals associated with Brigid, such as lambs, cows, or swans, to honor her connection to the animal kingdom.
Wheat or Corn Dolls: Craft small dolls from wheat or corn husks, symbolizing the harvest to come. Place them on your altar as a representation of the Earth's fertility.
Bell or Chimes: Hang a bell or wind chimes near your altar to symbolize the awakening of nature and the stirring of life. Ring it during your Imbolc rituals to mark significant moments.
Decorative Cloth: Choose an altar cloth with intricate patterns or symbols related to Imbolc, such as suns, wheels, or Brigid's crosses, to add a touch of magic to your sacred space.
May you find warmth in the returning light. <3

Just if anyone is considering learning how to make cc, here's a great list to start with. Murfeelee's own tutorials are some of the most useful out there because they tell you what you need to do to get the cc to work without a lot of unnecessary detail. The TS2 to TS3 one was really useful to me :)
Murf’s Crap Advice: Starting Out
I recently discovered your blog, and I love it. I was just wondering, what do you recommend for someone learning to make custom content? I have been trying to find tutorials, but I can’t find any.
Hello! Welcome to my madness! XD
☽✶•.¸(✶•.¸★¸.•✶´)¸.•✶´☾ ☆«´¨`•°°•´¨`»☆    ☽.¸.•✶(¸.•✶´★`✶•.¸)`✶•.☾
Welcome to Murf’s School of Crap and Crap-Making!

☽✶•.¸(✶•.¸★¸.•✶´)¸.•✶´☾ ☆«´¨`•°°•´¨`»☆    ☽.¸.•✶(¸.•✶´★`✶•.¸)`✶•.☾
What do I recommend for starters? RUNNING. For the hills. Screaming. :P
Just kidding~~~~!
I’m no pro, so I say this every time someone asks me about TS3 CC Making: Read the tutorials at TSR and MTS. All of them. I’m not even lying. That’s the very first thing I did: I read the tutorials, cried, prayed, and followed along to the best of my ability…sometimes. :P
TSRW tutorials (sims3packs)

S3PE/S3OC/CTU/DABOOBS/etc tutorials (package files)

Everything in-between tutorials
http://www.blackpearlsims.com/showthread.php?57291-ALL-Creation-Tutorials-Found-Here!
There are a lot of other tutorials out there, but those 3 sites helped me the absolute MOST. As a converter (I do not mesh; it’s terrible) this tutorial helped me SO MUCH: Mesh Conversion Tutorial Using MTS Tools by Jonesi (use Ctrl-F to find the link). There was another conversion tutorial I followed as well, that I think was at a Russian site, but I haven’t been able to find it for years. That one helped me, too.
READ THESE IF YOU READ NOTHING ELSE:
How to use TSRW: https://web.archive.org/web/20150312100250/http://wiki.thesimsresource.com/index.php?title=Walkthrough:_Objects https://web.archive.org/web/20150315052828/http://wiki.thesimsresource.com/index.php?title=Category:Sims_3_Creating_Tutorials https://web.archive.org/web/20150315031019/wiki.thesimsresource.com/index.php?title=Category:TSR_Workshop https://web.archive.org/web/20150312120330/http://wiki.thesimsresource.com/index.php?title=TSR_Workshop_-_An_A-Z_Manual
How to make Objects with TSRW: https://web.archive.org/web/20150312120254/http://wiki.thesimsresource.com/index.php?title=Object_Creation_Part_1:_Meshing
How to Texture with TSRW: https://web.archive.org/web/20150312120259/http://wiki.thesimsresource.com/index.php?title=Object_Creation_Part_2:_Texturing
I posted a lot of extra tutorial links on my Simblr, as well. They all helped me, without which this simblr would be effing empty, cuz I’d’ve given up on TS3 years ago if I didn’t have CC to keep me going back when all I had was the base game, pfft.
I use TSRW for the most part, and I find the steps in those 3 tutorials to be the best/quickest method, rather than using MTS’ S3PE/S3OC methods. But to each their own, right?
Some of the very first CC I started doing at TSR was wall art, since it’s simple enough and gets you very well acquainted with how EA uses textures and how to edit them/use Gimp/Photoshop, and how to use TSRW to make stuff. This is the tutorial I used: http://wiki.thesimsresource.com/index.php?title=Sims_3_Custom_Paintings_with_EA_Meshes
From there I worked my way up to converting decor, and then furniture (which can be harder, depending on if it uses animations/joints/geostates). This tutorial was very good:  http://wiki.thesimsresource.com/index.php?title=DDS_Files_for_plant_meshing_with_TSR_Workshop
TSRW uses DDS textures, and it took me forever to understand what the heck Alpha Channels did. I cried at TSR so much, trying to figure out decor wall stickers and CAS tattoos.
It took me 5 YEARS to get a firm enough grasp of CC creation, and I still mess up a lot and run to MTS’ forums screaming for help, lol! XD They helped me with some AMAZING Milkshape advice – which you WILL need, if you want to make object creations – and there are so many great plugins, programs and tools created at MTS to make the process all the smoother.
The CAS tutorial at MTS were much more helpful for me when it came to finally making clothes and hair. 100% props goes to CmarNYC for the Mesh Toolkit (it saves lives, I tell you!), and MaybeRachel for her fabulous Youtube videos on converting clothes and hair.
Unfortunately, there is no quick and easy magic button to just create CC for TS3. I hear it’s easier for TS2/TS4, but as far as I see it, creating CC is an interdisciplinary skill that’s going to require lots of time, practice, dedication, determination, buckets of tears, colorful cussing, at least one virgin sacrifice, and by the golden llamas, freaking PATIENCE. It’s hard work, but if you’re serious (enough) about it, the effort pays off. I’m a lazy wretch, so there’s only so effing far I’m going, but I’d recommend learning how to actually mesh from scratch, not just convert from other games. #kindajealoustbh

Hello! Can you help me and/or give me examples of how to write a pre-teen? Specifically a slightly mature for their age but still socially-awkward, selfless, empathetic, extroverted 10-year-old
How to Write a Pre-Teen
Voice and Language
Simple but specific vocabulary: Pre-teens might not use very complex words, but they often know and throw in some “big words” they’ve recently learned or mimic words they hear adults use. Don’t overdo it, though—they’ll often misapply or half-understand these terms, which can create natural, humorous moments.
“It’s totally, like, a catastrophe that I forgot my project.”
Expressive dialogue: Pre-teens are enthusiastic and often exaggerate. They can also shift quickly between emotions, from excitement to frustration.
“That was the best movie ever!” might turn into “Actually, I mean, it was kinda boring in some parts, but, you know, overall…”
Thoughtful yet blunt: Kids this age often haven’t fully learned the “filters” adults use. They can be direct and say things that are surprisingly insightful or unexpectedly honest.
Thoughts and Perspective
Developing identity and opinions: They’re beginning to form their own beliefs but still echo the views of family, teachers, or friends.
“Mom says people should never lie, but I wonder if little lies are okay if they help people feel better…”
Questioning and introspective moments: Pre-teens are curious about life, relationships, and “big ideas.” They may ask questions, but sometimes keep their deep thoughts to themselves, exploring them internally.
“If friends are supposed to be there for each other, why do I feel alone even when they’re around?”
Struggle with abstract concepts: At this age, they’re just beginning to understand abstract ideas like justice or friendship but often approach them in straightforward, literal ways.
Behavior and Actions
Impulsivity and energy: They might shift quickly between activities and emotions, getting distracted or excited without much control over it. They may also blurt out ideas or act before thinking, especially if they’re extroverted.
For instance, a character might immediately jump up to help someone even if they aren’t sure what to do, or they might “borrow” something without fully considering the consequences.
Physical awkwardness: Pre-teens can be a bit clumsy as they’re still growing into their bodies. This can lead to endearing, awkward moments.
They might knock something over, trip over their own feet, or feel self-conscious in ways that show they’re still figuring themselves out physically as well as socially.
Friendships and Social Dynamics
Navigating social rules: Pre-teens are very aware of social “rules” but may not fully understand them. This is an age when they care a lot about what their friends think, but they’re also just beginning to question these dynamics.
A pre-teen might want to befriend the “cool” kids but feel conflicted when they realize their values don’t align. Or they may try too hard to impress friends and feel self-conscious afterward.
Conflicted loyalties: Friendships are often intense at this age, and they might struggle with conflicting feelings if friends argue or if they feel left out.
“I really like hanging out with Sarah, but I know Emma doesn’t. Maybe if I can make them both laugh, we could all just… get along?”
Small gestures: Pre-teens often show they care in understated ways, like sharing snacks, giving a small gift, or cheering someone up when they’re down. For a socially-awkward pre-teen, these gestures may come out clumsy but sweet.
Insecurity and Self-Awareness
Self-consciousness mixed with bravery: Pre-teens often fluctuate between trying to fit in and wanting to stand out. They might do something brave but then doubt themselves or quickly retreat if things don’t go as planned.
For instance, a character might volunteer to speak in front of the class only to feel panicked once they’re in the spotlight.
Hyper-awareness of themselves and others: They’re beginning to notice how others perceive them and may get flustered easily or worry about little things, like if their clothes look okay or if they sounded silly.
“I shouldn’t have laughed like that… I bet everyone thought I sounded so weird.”
Joking as a defense: Pre-teens often use humor to cope, covering up their awkwardness or discomfort by making jokes.
Reactions to Conflict and Emotion
Quick emotional shifts: They might go from laughing to frustrated to embarrassed in just a few minutes. They feel emotions intensely and may have outbursts or react strongly to things adults might dismiss as minor.
Heroic ideals vs. real-world disappointments: Many pre-teens have an idealized view of right and wrong, fairness, and heroism, and they may be disappointed when things don’t align with these ideals. They’re just starting to understand that people aren’t all good or all bad.
“I don’t get it… why would she lie about something like that? Friends are supposed to be honest!”
