I was just thinking, "what would Redson look like if he had been taken over by Lady Bone Demon?" and I wasn't feeling like drawing so I decided to just trace over one of the scenes. I might trace over more scenes if this one gets some good traction.

As last minute as the title - my story is FINALLY HERE!!! You can access it either as a registered user or guest user.

I would provide a description about what's this is about, but I don't wanna spoil the book, so here's a summary:

"MK the Monkie Kid and his friends, alongside other allies such as Sun Wukong, will continue their adventure against their usual foes and facing the same struggles; but with the aid of a new ally - a wild card who may or may not have more influence on their story than initially thought. But she can't possibly have any connections to the events of what is happening to our heroes... right?"

Spicynoodles Tangled AU Childhood Doodles

I just wanted to draw them as little kiddos.

The design for kid Red in the bottom left corner came from this art by @py-dreamer, I think it's so adorable and wanted to draw it. He's looking at the lanterns.

The top right is Red making wings for Mei, she reaches great heights then gets stuck and while she is cat sized, she does not have a cat's ability to fall and be fine. The mayor has to go up to wherever she got stuck and get her down.

The coat and gloves were made for him by LBD to keep the power from overwhelming him. Making stuff requires precision so it's a good way for him to learn how to control his powers.

Mei is speed.

She doesn't have as many streaks and they aren't as thick because they build over time around LBD and they react to the extent of what she is doing to someone. Her tongue is blue for the same reason blue tongue skinks have blue tongues, it's to warm potential predators cause dragons are pretty small when they hatch, they grow out of it as they grow out of the danger/prey size.

Bottom right is MK telling the other orphans the story of the Monkey King, he likes to do shadow plays for them. He's not supposed to use the shadow magic because that could attract unwanted attention to the orphanage, which is what the caretaker in the top left is worried about, they are a Huli Jing/fox demon cause I wanted them to be more visually interesting.

MK's orphanage is near the border of Ironbull territory, it's close enough to be considered under their rule, but technically not in their kingdom, so it's not illegal where he is to take him or attack him. He has to hide his ears to avoid attention.

The orphanage didn't get his name from Qiuyue, and they didn't have the monkey sense to know he was trans, so they gave him the name Yawen and treated him more like a girl because they just didn't know.

So Yawen is his dead name, he chose to use the name his parents actually gave him to have a connection to them, he knows it cause he remembers everything he has heard.

But he usually keeps it private because of stuff that happened to him a bit later in life and his pre-existing trust issues.

Qiuyue left Xiaotian with her book of stories about the Monkey King. It was the stories that she heard growing up, wrote down and illustrated. It's one of the most important things Xiaotian owns. He keeps it on him or in his shadow at all times.

Baigujing - Special Agent

Baigujing or more commonly remembered as "Lady Ivory," was an ex-terrorist that threatened the city of Megaprolis. Due to her heinous crimes, she was set to be executed but was saved by an experimental program nickednamed "The Pilgram Project," created by the CC (Celestial Court), to rehabilitate convicts.

After Baigujing was rehabilitated by the program and she was pardoned of her crimes. She disappeared from the eyes of the public, only to brought back decades later after an influx of familiar crimes began to rise back in the city. In a new time, Baigujing must live her life in the Pilgram Project, once again, but this time, running it.

Bai he - Apprentice (Pilgram Pr.)

Bai he is a young woman who grew up in the wrong neighbourhood of Megaprolis, forced to fall to small petty crimes to get by, leading her to take on more than she could chew. With a charge of murder under her belt, Bai he graciously took the offer to be a part of the Pilgram Project.

Now, working under Baigujing, Bai he is able to flourish and help crack down on the influx of crimes that seemed to be suspiciously rising in the city.

Redson Niugong - Pilgram Pr.

A promising young man who just couldn't avoid the life of crime. Despite his privileged background, he was an intelligent hacker who threatened the very security that MPC (Megaprolis Police Commission) swore to keep. Eventually, his crimes were tracked back by one to many missteps he had taken.

Due to his marvellous abilities, he was accepted into the Pilgram Project under Baigujing.

Queenie Zhuwang - Pilgram Pr.

A woman running a humble bakery in a shady part of the city. Suspiciously, people who visited her bakery seemed to leave with one less family member after her services. Eventually, it was discovered that she had been creating and trafficking poisons, assisting in multiple murders.

Her expertise in poisons caught the eye of the pilgram project, and she was accepted under Baigujing.

Xiezi Shamo Huang ‐ Pilgram Pr.

A customer of Queenie poisoning her abusive husband. She seemed to continue her crimes to the rest of in-laws, her mother-in-law, father-in-law, and brother-in-law, all dying in the same way as her husband. Eventually, the receipts of her purchases were discovered, and she was convicted of murder.

She was given another chance in Pilgram Project, and accepted under Baigujing.

Bingo Long - Pilgram Pr.

A member of the Long family, an organised crime syndicate that ruled Megaprolis with an iron fist. After being arrested, his family left him to the wolves. He accepted the offer to join the Pilgram Project, under Baigujing, in hopes of getting a reduced sentence.

(backstory rewrite):

◇LBD still possesses Bai he. except now Bai he can also take control whenever she wants. they switch between who takes over and sometimes they're one consciousness. LBD is not obsessed with following destiny, but she still believes everything happens for a reason. they are both calm. Bai he likes to read and chat while LBD prefers to be quiet. they're the calm ones in the group and advise to help their friends. LBD sees Redson as her Son figure and Bai he sees Redson as her brother figure.

◇when LBD takes control Bai he's eyes become paler than usual. some people don't notice when they switch but Redson can detect it the moment it happens.

◇Bai he doesn't mind switching to LBD but sometimes she refuses to switch for specific reasons. LBD understands when Bai he doesn't wanna switch and stays quiet.

◇LBD is stuck in Bai he's body and can't switch hosts. her powers have weakened to the point she can only possess someone for half a day.

◇Bai he met LBD in an alleyway. LBD was injured and unable to move. Bai he took her in and helped her. unfortunately, her health was slowly declining. LBD could barely move at some point so she asked Bai he if she can possess her body until she recovered. Bai he agreed and now they're best friends.

Pigsy gets upset when people joke about Wukong being Mk's dad. It's insulting to him, the one that raises Mk since he was so little.

Wukong is someone that craves physically touch but also can't stand it. It stems from all the violence he's been apart of + the crown messed him up alot. He was SUPER uncomfortable with Mk touching him in the beginning. It has to be on his terms if you wanna touch him.

Macaque doesn't have a heart beat anymore.

Because of Macaque never coming back when Wukong needed him, Wukong had no trust that Macaque will come back if they have a argument. He assumes that Macaque is just gone and gets upset about it. Eventually Macaque comes back and realizes Wukong's upset but he doesn't bring it up cause he doesn't know how.

Redson doesn't really understand why his father doesn't seem to like him. He assumed that his dad would be overjoyed to see him again, not how he's acting now.

Mei had many breakdowns because of her grades and the pressure to be a spectacular student.

Pigsy got bullied alot in school for being a pig demon. It wasn't everyone, most people liked him, just a specific group of kids.

To add on to #7, Tang used to beat himself up over not being able to help Pigsy. He HATED seeing Pigsy getting bullied but he knew that if he tried to start a fight he would either get beat because he can't fight or get himself kicked out of school.

Mk gets nightmares of Wukong getting forced into the scroll. Sometimes he wonders what would of happened if Wukong never got out. He usually ends up crying.

The closest thing Sandy ever got to being violent is when one of his cats scared him and he accidently dropped Mo. He cried. Alot. (Mo was fine but he just hates his cats being hurt.)

Sandy still doesn't know Hunstman is dead. He just thinks that Huntsman was scared of him so he never came back. (Guess Hunstmans my favorite and he's dead and i hate it here god dammit.)

No one can say anything about Azure or Azure's death around Wukong because he will get upset. Macaque made a joke one time and Wukong lost his shit. He's still kinda shooken up about it.

Some of the baby monkies recognize Macaque as the one disguised as Wukong that ate the monkey and passed it around. Those monkies REFUSE to be around him. They get violent if they have to be around him.

Nezha wants to see Wukong, Redson, and the others more but his job is so demanding he barely gets to leave.

Wukong physically couldn't be around Tang for long periods of time when they first met. He got more comfortable with him over time but Tang reminded him to much of Tripitaka and he couldn't handle it.

Mei doesn't yell out of anger, like serious anger alot. When she finally yelled at Wukong because of the fire, all Wukong saw was Ao Lie screaming at him. (Stole that headcannon from a friend of mine. Thanks Ainnur you ruined my life.)

Mk brought up the fact that Wukong was willing to put the fire into himself and sacrifice himself, almost certainly killing himself in the process one time. Wukong kinda laughed and just said "Yeah, had to save the world bud. It's a shame Macaque messed up my plan, the world woulda been a little bit more peaceful if me AND Lady Bone Demon died." He wasn't even trying to admit suicidal feelings, he was just being honest. This scared the SHIT out of Mk because Wukong just admitted that he can and will kill himself if he feel he needs too.

Sandy often feels left out of the group and not as important but he doesn't wanna ruin everyone's fun so he stays quiet.

Bai he was ready to die when she was found by the Monkie Gang. She wasn't scared of death anymore.

Bai he was scared of Wukong when they first met face to face. Wukong apologized and explained himself. Over time she got a little more comfortable with him. She understands why he's apologizing but at that point she was so ready to die she didn't care who did it.

Redson wants to be around Sun Wukong again but he doesn't know how to start the relationship again. Same on Wukongs part but he's a bit more forward.

Macaque gets physical in fights fast. Partly cause his fights with Peng, Partly cause of his life before Wukong, Partly cause of Lady Bone Demon. If Macaque thinks a situation will get rough, he'll try to fight but if he thinks he'll lose he'll dip.

Princess Iron Fan unintentionally critiques Redsons's looks all the time. It messes with him alot so he's quite insecure.

Mei feels the need to always be upbeat and cheerful so Mk doesn't sink to far into depression. She can tell when he does this for her but she doesn't bring it up.

Pigsy's worst fear is that Mk won't come back home. The nightmares he's had of this is brutal.

I could make more but I'm sleeeeepppy. I'll make a part two one day though. Leave your own headcannons cause seeing other people break down these characters is so fun.

Refering to Twin Sun AU:

Wait, so where's Macaque when the pilgrims meet Wukong's brother? Where's his hot goth boyfriend to show off to the pig?!(He can so get bitches, he just has an acquired taste unlike the greedy piglet!)

Like, if Mac kept going back to the mountain while he was imprisoned, even if they argued a lot, wouldn't Macaque be on FFM helping take care of their home? Wouldn't he be there for introductions after they come to apologize? Was he hiding in wukong's room with him when they first showed up and comforting his crying boyfriend? Are they official at that point or just besties dancing around each other still? Is he visiting DBK's family? Will he show up during Redson's arc? I don't think he would miss out on the chance to show up and spook Wukong's new friends if given an actually valid chance to do so, he's kinda petty like that, the sassy bitch. Where's my favorite emo monkey?!

I feel like Macaque still takes a break from FFM for a bit after a few decades to find himself artistically - in a lot of aus I have him train under the Nine-Tailed Vixen. And since Luzhen is at home governing everything (albeit with a lot of help from the Stalwarts) Macaque wouldn't feel much guilt in going on the road.

As long as he's able to return to Five Point Mountain at least once a year.

I love the imagery of Wukong running home after the White Bone Arc, believing that he's lost the closest companions he's had in centuries - only to see Macaque standing there in their bedroom, pretending as though he hadn't rushed home at the sounds of his mate's release upon the wind.

Wukong collaspes into his mate's arms, sobbing from a mixture of frustration and loss of his party, and of relief and joy of seeing Macaque in their home again.

Macaque is ready to murder that monk if he ever dares step on to their island.

Luzhen almost beats his brother-in-law to the punch with that one. Luckily the Stalwarts, Sha Wujing & Ao Lie, and Wukong himself stop that from happening.

As they're all hashing out their demands, a deep enchanting voice comes from the Palace doors.

It's Macaque, deliberately unglamoured and dressed in silk bedclothes befitting a King's spouse. His hair toussled as if he'd just rolled out of bed.

Wukong is confused by Macaque's choice in fashion until he sees Zhu Bajie's expression.

The very same pig who had goaded their master out of spite of Wukong "ruining his chance" with the White Bone Demon, was now staring jaw-dropped at who Wukong had waiting at home for him.

Wukong's face goes red from blushing, and he socks Bajie in the face for oogling his goth bf.

Macaque still doesn't trust Tripitaka. His own sense of premonition tells him that the monk will betray their trust in the future. He wants Wukong's circlet off Yesterday.

But Tripitaka cannot remove the Circlet. Only the Buddha himself can.

Macaque growls with frustration - and threatens that if Tripitaka ever uses the Headache Sutra again, then Macaque will personally take the voice from the Monk's throat before taking his mate home with him.

Macaque occasionally pops up along the Journey - whether working/performing for his Vixen mentor, or just to check that the Pilgrims are keeping their promises. Even just to step out of the shadows and terrify them at quiet moments. And ofc to smooch Wukong as they did whenever they met under the Mountain each year - the Golden-Eyed king watching his mate emerge from the darkness like he's the moon itself.

Misfortune does happen to Macaque though. Something that leaves him minus an eye. Perhaps a version of what happens in the Jttw Stone Egged au between him and the Brotherhood - the shadow far more quick to denounce his former brothers with the confidence a healthy marriage and a supportive brother-in-law has brought him.

Luzhen is very proud of how Macaque makes things up to Wukong, though he'd never say it.

Just to be clear, it is YOUR choice on who gets possed by Lady Bone Demon in Your Mortal Monkey King AU, but if it is MK, how do you think the team would react to his possession?

Sunny and Mei would be concerned and ready to try anything to get their friend back. Redson would be concerned bur not admit it fully.

Pigsy would be a lot more determined and the rest is mostly the same.

There is definitely going to be stuff after Red Son gets rescued, it's gonna be a lot of fun.

The mayor is not going to be gone, he's going to stick around and cause more problems. My current plan is to have LBD come back eventually, and I think I'll include whatever villain is happening in season 5, gotta see how that turns out first.

After the movie portion of the story is done I'm going to take some story elements from the Tangled Series and just play around with it.

How did all of the celestial primates die? (Except for wukong and macaque)

I will go REALLY briefly over their deaths as I haven't got them as fleshed out as I want them to be.

The Two-Faced Macaque was crushed alive by Redson with assistance from Xiaojiao.

The Red-Bottomed Horse Monkey battled against Queenie, Xiezi, and Bingo. Before eventually allowing himself to be obliterated by Bingo because of how impressed he was of his opponents.

The Long-armed Gibbon was killed by Bai he, essentially obliterated, like the ink demon.

(These aren't set in stone and are definitely subject to proper development and change!)

Au where everything is the same except Mk monkey form looks like an exact copy and paste of younger macaque (aka. Long White fur, only thing that differed is the ears and the peach colored mask) (going off that headcannon that macaque had white fur but then once he got revived it turned black btw) and it pisses wukong of to no end. Because like how??? You have brown hair as a human. How the fuck do you have white fur as a monkey?? How do you not look like me at all???? You have my powers???? How come we share nothing else?? Wtf??

It also pisses macaque off too because Mk does NOT know how to take care of his new fur at all. For the longest time everyone thought his fur was grey or like light brown and Mk just has to awkwardly explain that “oh yeah no my fur is white but it gets dirty really easily so I kinda just let it fester all day until I shower”

Macaque having had white fur for centuries and having it just come back thanks to lady bone demons ice thing: “YOU DO WHAT NOW???”

Bro gets so unbelievably offended about it too- he literally drags Mk to the nearest lake when he first hears about this on flower fruit mountain and washes him like his a baby monkey. He takes out a brush from his shadow portals and starts brushing mks hair and everything. Wukong just stares wide eye at the fact that macaque was treating his successor like a little kid and going off on him like “I cannot believe you. Did wukong never teach you proper hygiene or what? In the new age of human technology and you decide to just let your fur suffer? I did this because I didn’t have a better option back then but you- I will teach how to take of your fur like it or not you little shit-“

Wukong is just in shock through most of this process but does start laughing his ass off of once the shock wears out and just a sad soggy Mk getting chewed out by macaque remains

Mei, Baihe, and Redson are all absolutely in love with Mks white hair btw.

Baihe and Mei love to play around with it and the biggest reason as to why Mk keeps his fur fairly long. Baihe loves to braid it and decorate while Mei just want to dye it constantly (and also loves to play with it during cuddles)

And because I love spicynoddles: Red son just thinks mks looks fucking majestic. Especially when he has the really intricate braids with gold decorations because Mei knows how to make her best friend look fabulous and will weaponize it
