he kills kab. he murders the youngest member of their team in cold blood and calls it a transaction. he calls her “free hearts” and lashes out and refuses to see reason - she thinks it’s evil. fuck, she CALLS him evil and fucked up, references music to try and make it all make sense. it’s the first friendly fire she’s witnessed on lifesteal and it’s impossible for her to justify.

but she stays.

she stays, and she finishes the build with him and they laugh together still despite it all. they finish the trial and even after that she defends him to 4C and Cube. she tells them it wasn’t what it seems and there was more to it than murder, even if she’d seen it was little more than animalistic brutality.

after all, he’s reassured her that they’re fine, right? he’s got no problems with her yet, they’re still friendly, she’s safe as long as she’s on his safe side. she’s always been cautious; what’s one more danger to tiptoe around?

like what if they dated and kissed and were super awesome. lily helps him bleach his hair in his dorm and he always walks her to class. she teaches him all about muggle music and takes him to concerts. he lifts her onto his shoulders at the concerts. she always paints half of her face in slytherin colors for quidditch matches. he always (begrudgingly) goes to slug club things with her.

and they're so cute and very romantic and they love each other. and their ship name is redrose because lily is a redhead and his name is rosier.

In case it's not obvious: this piece is a COMPOSITE of official Sailor Moon art and my own lines. I spliced elements of four different pictures from Naoko Takeuchi's art books and added the dress and arms recreate the little doodle/concept of Usagi and Chibiusa I edited earlier. Further iterations are still in the works.

lily snorts and shakes her head, grabbing her headphones from evan. "okay, okay. shut up, i can't handle you insulting my abba."

"sorry, evans, i just don't like girl groups singing pop music." lily gasps and flips him off.

"alright, shut up." she rolls her eyes and switches the tape in her walkman to bohemian rhapsody. "this is inarguably one of the best songs in the world."

"i really highly doubt that." she waves him off and presses play. "wait! oh, lils, i know this one." he mumbles nonsense in a vague tune before- "mama ooooh!"

"you sound like a dying cat!" lily shouts at him as she starts laughing. he grabs her shoulders and starts to shout.

"didn't mean to make you cry-"

"oh my god! evan, go away!"

"if i'm not back again this time tomorrow-"

lily grins as she takes evan's face in her hands and starts to sing with him, "carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters!"

"see? i love this one!"

"okay, hold on, now you gotta sing it all with me!"

"oh fuck, really?" she laughs and jumps up onto her feet. "oh my god, this is gonna be bad, evans." lily opens her mouth but doesn't get a chance to sing before there's a bang on the door.

"lily, shut up!" petunia yells through the door.

"you shut up!" evan shouts as he throws himself on the carpet by lily's feet. there's another bang on the door and receding footsteps. "i see a little silhouetto of a man!"

"scaramouche scaramouche!"
