A Year of Animation Day 15: The Red Turtle
Date: January 15, 2025
Day: 15
Content Watched: The Red Turtle
Year: 2016
Rating: PG
Run Time: 1 hr. 20 mins.
Okay guys, we're fifteen days in, and I am officially dreaming in animation. I don't remember what exactly the dream was about, but I know it was drawn in the style of Persepolis. Anyway, on to The Red Turtle!
Tumblr media
I researched this one, and there are multiple types of animation used. The characters are hand-drawn, from what I understand, directly into the computer. The backgrounds, on the other hand, are hand-drawn with charcoal and had color added via computer. The turtles and the rafts are CGI. I would say the differences in animation show. I watched this with my husband, and he said the backgrounds almost felt like a different movie. I don't think either of us commented on the difference between the people and the turtles, however.
I do get the impression that the animators here paid close attention to detail. The storm at beginning looks so real I actually forgot for a moment that the movie was animated. They also take time to show you things like the flies buzzing around the dead fish, and I like how more and more animals are revealed on the island as the film goes on, as if the island is warming up to the character... or perhaps him to the island. But I would not say there is a lot of motion in the film. In fact, large chunks of it are just one person on a beach or in a forest, and they are the only thing that's moving. And this has really gotten me thinking about hypothesis seven.
Tumblr media
Up to now, I haven't really thought about the underlying premise of hypothesis seven--that for an animated film to be good, it must have a lot of motion. So far, my argument has just been that the hypothesis is incorrect because modern animation has plent of motion. But here is a film with very little motion, and that feels very purposeful. In fact, I would argue that if it had more motion, it would not be as good. It's the stillness of each scene that makes it sophisticated. So I think the very premise of hypothesis seven may be wrong.
In The Red Turtle, the lack of motion emphasizes the solitude and isolation of being on the island alone. Even after the man marries and has a son, the vast majority of the motion being restricted to the human characters reminds us that they are the only people on this island, which, of course, is why the son eventually has to leave. It's also why we feel for the woman at the end of the movie when her husband dies. And I even feel sad for the turtle by the end, in her lonely, solitary existence. The emptiness on screen is provocative in the same way the busy locations of Perseoplis were. It strikes at something deeper within us.
Tumblr media
My favorite animation is the crabs. I think they're cute, and I did as soon as they first showed up. I liked watching them walk around the island dragging fish around and getting them stuck in their holes. I also thought it was funny when the baby tried to eat one, but I was sad when the seagull ate it afterward.
My favorite overall scene is probably when the adult son is swimming with the turtles. I'll admit, the film reminded me a bit of Wendy, which is one of my favorite movies, and I kind of expected the people to become one with the island, or at least with the turtles in a similar way to how the children in Wendy command volcanoes and swim with the Mother. In the long run, it turned out to be a lot less magical than I expected, and this scene was probably the closest I got to that movie.
Tumblr media
This is not to say that I didn't like the movie overall. I've seen reviews online, and it seems like most people either really like The Red Turtle or really hate it, and I think that's because it's so different. It's an artistic movie, which I could kind of tell from the DVD commercials, which were all for indie films. It doesn't really follow the three-act structure that we're all so familiar with in the United States, and I think someone who is used to that might be disappointed watching it. Instead, it really just follows one person and his life. It reminded me a lot of the movie About Time, which essentially does the same thing.
I did enjoy this movie, but I don't think I would watch it a whole lot if I owned it. I don't think that's only because of the unusual plot structure (or lack thereof) because I think if I owned About Time, I would watch it a lot. But About Time has a clear message at the end about living in the present, and this was just... someone's life. No more, no less. I guess, on some level, I still want my fiction to be nicely wrapped up. Nevertheless, I'm glad I saw it, and I think that there are other people out there would very much enjoy it because it doesn't follow a more standard plot structure.
Finally, I want to talk about the soundtrack because this is what I liked most about it. I'm used to music in movies being overly present in one way or another. Often times, it's the sound balancing--where the dialogue is really quiet and then when the music picks up, it gets really loud. I find this particularly egregious in superhero movies. And I know that someone's going to say something like, well of course it gets louder during the action scenes, there's all this stuff happening, it would be louder in real life. But I find it really distracting when I have to change the volume every five minutes because I either can't hear what anyone is saying or my ears are about to get blown out.
I thought the music in The Red Turtle was delightfully subtle. And really, I shouldn't say music, I should say soundscape because in many scenes, there isn't music, but you can hear the waves, the wind, the birds--it sounds like you are on an island. When the music is there, it's usually really soft and subtle--you barely notice it. It does rise in some scenes--the part where the son falls down the mountain, and again during the tsunami. But maybe when there's no dialogue to compete with, the composers feel like they have more room to be expressive with the music.

Tomorrow, we begin season 3 of Avatar: The Last Airbender and we'll get to see just how similar it is to Persepolis.

Note
just remembered The Wild existed, I used to think it was a disney movie but apparently it's not?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was distributed by Disney.
My special memory of The Wild was my dad and I were driving to the theatre to see it, but a movie reviewer came on the radio and talked about how much the movie was bad, and my dad awkwardly telling me how critics are just harsh on movies like that. The critic was right.
The Wild is fascinating because most people assume it’s just a shitty knockoff of Madagascar. The story goes tho that the two movies were in production at the same time (and The Wild possibly earlier..), and Madagascar was simply the cheaper and faster of of the two and was released much earlier. There is a very possible chance that Madagascar was actually a knockoff of The Wild in a similar matter to Dreamworks’ Antz and Shark Tale, rather than the other way around.
I don’t know enough about the production history of The Wild to know for sure if that theory holds weight. Would be fascinating if true because Madagascar is still very much the better of the two. It’s been a while since I saw it but I remember it even as a kid finding most of of the jokes not being very funny and the how everything looked kinda creepy.
The only thing that I usually remember about this movie is the flesh eating wildebeests, and the fact the main characters were on an animal curling team.
youtube
This clip is also now pissing me off because they call the curling target the “red bullseye”. That is not what that’s called, it’s the house. The penguin also seems to chuck the stone (turtle) like some combination of discus and bowling, and in the next scene not in this clip we see our “heros” use their anaconda as a sling to shoot their stone. These animals are dogshit at curling, it’s disgusting to watch.

Touchstarved Demo Review
Tumblr media
Played the demo of Touchstarved and I can’t get it out of my head. Refreshing tumblr every three seconds to read people’s stances on the game so I’m going to do it myself. Here’s are my current stances on the characters.
KURAS
Rather secluded and to himself, initial reactions wise I was disappointed in not getting to know more about him in the demo. but at the same time, the demo set the stage for what exactly I could expect from his route. Slow-burn. Much like what I expect Mhin’s route to be like, but moreso focused on getting to know his past. He doesn’t voice his internal struggles because he has a firm barrier he sets between himself and other, probably hates getting too close to human’s because he is immortal and doesn’t like the idea of getting attached to things that are temporary.
Also, after listening to the Q and A on YouTube and how supposedly Kuras will do some messed up shit in his route, I’m really excited to see what’s up with this tight-lipped doctor. He is definitely not the nice, charitable doctor that he is known for in Lowtown.
On a positive note, his design is probably my favorite in the game! Very unique, gorgeous, and ethereal, so pretty that I know if he existed in real life he’d be out of my league and would be popular just because of how jaw-droppingly gorgeous he is. Mr Steal your girl, but he’s respectful so he won’t be a home wrecker.
(More reviews under the cut)
LEANDER
A character that I thought looked so suspicious and weirded out, but fell in love with when playing the game. I thought he looked like a psychopath!
Because I’m a stupid, easily manipulated dumbass, I initially didn’t really capture his red flags when playing the demo. Every time he let me touch him, my heart beat wouldn’t stop! And his blush is so adorable. He seemed like the trustworthy nice-guy that just wanted to help a poor soul out. And uh, chest. The chest really had an effect on me and his entire outfit didn’t help. Black turtle necks awaken something in me, yknow? And the belts? Hoe energy.
After replaying the demo a few times, it just stands out to me how much of a player he is. Before realizing MC was at the bar because of Kuras, he was in flirting mode and probably considering MC to be part of his escapades. The disappointment in his tone and face when he found out MC was there for business 😂😂.
We get the most information of Leander from the special conversation with the characters so I am quite pumped to know what exactly this guy is about, cuz each person has varying, colorful opinions on him. I find it so funny that Vere, the most flirtatious in the game, is weirded out by shameless Leander is. Maybe that is Leander’s flaw? The leader of the Bloodhounds, envied by many and respected by most, is the most submissive and horny bitch on the planet. Ok ok, I’m done. But I could go on and on about this man.
(Side note, Mhin and Leander definitely had a drunken one night stand. And Mhin absolutely regretted it)
Even after reading all the theories on how sus he is, his interactions were probably my favorite in the entire game. I’m just so intrigued by him.
VERE
Not the biggest fan of Vere. I’m not into animal ears and tails.
Im going to be honest in real life I would be flustered by Vere’s advances and probably feel a sort of fascination towards him echen to attraction, but he’s not really the type that I want to romance in games. Also the fact of the matter is is that sexual innuendoes just not my thing, especially when it comes to first impressions. And my first impression was getting my key stolen so nice.
Irl Vere can be acquaintances at most. I would be there just to hear the juiciest details about some drama. He would always have some snarky comment that would make me laugh. I love some dark humor. But at the same time, he’s dangerous af. I wouldn’t want to get too close to him. He has major issues and idk when he would snap, that’s the scary part! If I tease him playfully and he was not in the mood, off goes my head.
I like his relationship with Ais, adds more juiciness to the story. Love me some love triangles. Reminds me of Rime and Felix relationship in Last Legacy.
I would like the challenge of winning him over though. Because his route would probably be so unpredictable and challenging, I feel more motivated to play and invest in his story
AIS
I love his character design! Probably my second favorite in the game. Ais exudes confidence, competence, and strength. Major main character vibes from Ais. I’m guessing that’s why Leander hates him. HOW DARE YOU BE THE CENTER OF ATTENTION, LITERALLY THE CENTER OF ALL THE PROMO ART YOU FUCKIN BASTAR-
I personally do not feel that much of a love connection towards Ais as much as Leander. More like, I chill with you. I could grab a drink with you and talk about life. Yes. Maybe when I play his route they’ll prove me wrong. Im still curious about him so can’t wait to play his route. But I don’t see much of a red flag in him as the others, he just seems like a chill guy that went through hell. I’m guessing he’ll show his dark sides in his route.
It’s concerning that he’s attracted to Vere cuz Vere is…Vere. Problematic. Chaotic. An Asshole. Hmmm, is Ais technically an enabler? Yes, but Ais also starts bar fights. They’re both bad. It’s also interesting how generally people would say ethically good qualities on why they are attracted to someone but no, Ais is just like “yeah he’s an asshole, you can trust him just don’t listen to anything he says.” It’s hilarious. That also contrasts with Leander’s bio how he sees Vere as a damsel in distress cuz he’s delusional and has white knight syndrome, while Ais sees people who they are because he’s the black sheep “that have the clearest view of the world.” That’s probably why Vere loves him. Ais is the only person that sees his crappiness and still likes him. What a Chad :,)
MHIN
They reminds me of a friend I have. Quiet, standoffish, takes time to open up, a MASSIVE sweet tooth. I really want to pet their heads but I know they’re going to smack it away if I even try to touch. 😭😭
Mhin, the angsty teen. Considering Mhin’s bad temperament and similar curse thing with MC, I’m going to guess it’ll have major Beauty and the Beast vibes. Tempermental Mhin and MC who would turn them into a better person and teach them how to love themselves, with or without the curse.
The friendship with Mhin and Kuras make a lot of sense. Mhin feels at peace with Kuras cuz he’s a good listener and the only introvert in the friend group. Mhin needs someone that won’t try to annoy them like Leander or Vere. But I remember listening to the stream with the developers, and they were saying how terrible Kuras is and can’t wait for people to find out about it. Will Mhin feel betrayed when they find out the truth about Kuras? Do they already know? So many questions.

Hi there!! I’m such a big fan of your reviews, you did a great job with them!! 😄
My biggest questions would be;
Who’s your favorite turtle? And if you had to choose just five episodes from the series, which ones would be your all time favorites? 😁
Thank you!! Have a great day!!
Thank you so much for the kind words! For the record, I'm Team Donnie, always a big fan of the inventor/scientist archetype. (Also my favourite colour is purple, so he gets an extra point right there.)
I feel like when it comes to picking the top five episodes the natural inclination is just to pick the first five, and with good reason; nothing that came after S1 had as much time, care or money afforded to it. So just to make things interesting, I'm going to set everything from season one aside and pick five more episodes that I think also deserve to be celebrated.
5. THE DIMENSION X STORY
Tumblr media
The Turtles having to fight their way into the Technodrome (and back out again) somehow never fully lost its allure. This one and "Shredder's Mom" both rank highly in my estimation, and while this is the less visually impressive of the two I think it wins out for how willing it is to mix things up, sending the Channel 6 regulars to Dimension X while two of the Turtles remain behind. Wild, far flung adventures that tap into the more sci-fi aspects of TMNT, and the cherry on top is that this is easily Vernon's best episode - it turns out he's more interesting as April's rival when he's doing well and she has to work to regain the upper hand.
4. THE NINJA SWORD OF NOWHERE
Tumblr media
This one gets few points for innovation - Shredder and his crew jostling with the Turtles for control of some ancient magical artifact or high-tech invention is standard stuff for season three, and in this case, it's a dimension-hopping ninja sword. But rarely, if ever, has it been done this well. Splinter and Shredder battling in dimensional limbo is great, and the animation team handling this one really went above and beyond. Ninja Sword of Nowhere almost feels like it should have been held up as a textbook example of what a Turtles episode circa 1989/90 should be, a reference point that could be shown to writers or animators for what the show should be trying to acheive.
3. SPLINTER VANISHES
Tumblr media
The intended 100th episode, even if it didn't turn out that way, and one that I remember feeling like a big deal while watching it as a kid that still held up upon revisiting it as an adult. I always know it's a really good ep when writing the entry for it takes hours as I agonise over it, trying to make sure I articulate everything I want to get across to the best of my ability, and I remember dwelling on this one for a looong time, thinking about how the story compels the Turtles - and us - to consider what happens when the adventures end, when it's time to grow up and move on. Probably the most emotionally resonant episode of TMNT '87, and even though Splinter does not come across well by the end of it, the journeys we go on with each of the Turtles as they explore their post-hero lives easily outweigh that. The fact that "Splinter Vanishes" accomplishes all of this and is a non-Shredder episode - when let's face it, they're more often than not filler shows - makes it all the more remarkable.
2. SHREDDER TRIUMPHANT!
Tumblr media
I have mixed feelings about the show continuing into the Red Sky era because this episode, the season seven finale, felt like it had brought TMNT '87 to its natural end point. I love how it plays upon the sense that the Turtles (and the viewers) have that they've seen and done this all a million times before, and it quickly becomes apparent that this time things are different, that finally Shredder and Krang are competent and have learned from all their previous losses, setting the stage for one final showdown. All the main characters - the Turtles, Splinter, the Technodrome regulars and the Channel 6 crew - get their chance to shine and show how they've grown over the course of the show's run. A milestone episode for sure.
1. TURTLES ON TRIAL
Tumblr media
I think for me this is still The One, the single episode outside of the first season that I'd consider peak TMNT. It's also the first episode I remember seeing on TV, which I think set me up to have entirely unrealistic expectations about how good Turtles would be; fortunately the rest of the run was still a good time even if we never quite got here again.
I like to see my heroes really have to go through the wringer, to have everything thrown at them and somehow just about make it out victorious, and so the environment we see the Turtles forced to contend with here, a city full of people who have been conditioned to be actively hostile towards them, while they're also dealing with the usual Shredder/Krang stuff, makes for compelling television. Yes, Clayton Kellerman and "On Trial" are a perfect encapsuation of the media landscape at the time - which still feels relevant today - but on top of that this is a gorgeous episode with some terrific battles between the Turtles and Shredder's bunch. It's simply the bee's knees. (Or should that be the turtle's knees?)

Here we are... Best Animated Feature noms...
My predictions were 4-out-of-5...
THE BOY AND THE HERON, NIMONA, ROBOT DREAMS, and SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE all got in...
The one I got wrong was TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM, which to be fair, I did say in my previous post that that one was the wild card out of my predictions. Despite the high praise and tons of nominations TMNT:MM got elsewhere, in addition to a single win, I guess those who were nominating it for the Oscar just didn't think the oozy gross-out turtle action-superhero movie cut it.
Instead, we have ELEMENTAL, so Disney Pictures gets at least one slot this year. The last time they were shut out entirely was for the features of 2011, the year they released the critical dud CARS 2 and the completely dumped WINNIE THE POOH. I was pretty sure that this year, they also wouldn't make it. ELEMENTAL's critical reception was fine at best, nowhere near the acclaim MUTANT MAYHEM got. WISH was both a critical and commercial dud, so that had no chance, only ELEMENTAL did... Maybe the Academy just didn't feel like pulling a 2018 and nominating two superhero action animated movies. Maybe they decided to have just one IP-based movie in the race, and opted for an original story. (As NIMONA and ROBOT DREAMS are based on pre-existing source material, BOY AND THE HERON references a novel that plays a part in its story.) Maybe something else about it wasn't all to their liking. Maybe Disney is just that powerful that they got themselves a slot.
I still think this is a strong line-up, and again, it speaks to how robust this year was for features both mainstream and independent.
And I will admit, even though I wasn't in love with the movie, ELEMENTAL getting into the race is very nice, I feel. Director Peter Sohn's first Pixar feature, THE GOOD DINOSAUR, was both a box office flop and didn't get a nominated for the Oscar (it shared the year with sister Pixar movie INSIDE OUT). It was also a film that he inherited after its original director got removed from it. ELEMENTAL was his personal project from the ground-up, and after a rough opening and all the press jeering that it was going to be this big flopperooni, it had excellent legs at the box office... and now... It has a Best Animated Feature nom. Talk about staying power! Maybe Pete Docter should think twice about that statement he made back in the summer, about trying to go back to Pixar's "roots" in trying to figure out what audiences supposedly want from this studio.
Anyways, Pixar usually gets a nom every year. For 2022's animated features, TURNING RED was in the running. 2021, LUCA. 2020, SOUL, which won for that year. Last time Pixar didn't get a nom at all was for 2016, their sole feature that year was FINDING DORY. Got good reviews and made beaucoup bucks, but it shared a year with Disney Animation's ZOOTOPIA and MOANA, two heavy hitters which ended up getting the noms. So, outside of FINDING DORY, MONSTERS UNIVERSITY, and CARS 2, Pixar usually never misses a nom whenever they release a single movie in a calendar year.
Most of Paramount's Oscar noms in animation were for DreamWorks movies they released circa 2006-2012, which are all now Universal movies since Comcast owns all of DreamWorks Animation outright. Funnily enough, the inaugural Best Animated Feature nominations included Paramount's JIMMY NEUTRON: BOY GENIUS, which was up against eventual winner SHREK, and MONSTERS, INC. Paramount then began distributing DreamWorks movies in 2006, and scored nominations with KUNG FU PANDA, HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, KUNG FU PANDA 2, and PUSS IN BOOTS. For a non-DreamWorks nom, there was RANGO, which won for Best Animated Feature of 2011... Ever since then? Only one movie, ANOMALISA. The films they released from 2015 to now just never made it: SHERLOCK GNOMES, WONDER PARK, SPONGEBOB 3, RUMBLE, etc. MUTANT MAYHEM really had a good shot at getting in... Maybe TRANSFORMERS: ONE surprises later this year, I don't know. Paramount's animation history post-80s is so weird...
Anyways, congrats to everyone. I'm personally rooting for either BOY AND THE HERON, or NIMONA.

The Return of Lowder Reviews: Power Rangers Wild Force
This will also be the final review done in this format because after this I will have special screen cards showing what I am reviewing.
Plot Summary:
In the wilderness while having been raised by the local natives, a young man named Cole leaves to search for his past. In the city of Turtle Cove, four Rangers are battling two powerful orgs but are outmatched. The orgs leave, and Alyssa comments on how they need a fifth Ranger, but their leader Taylor disagrees. Cole arrives in the city and tries to find the people in his photo - his parents. He saves animals from a shady shelter run by two devious people. Cole and the animals make it out of the shelter safely and the animal snatchers are revealed to be the Duke Orgs Toxica and Jindrax. After being knocked out by the four Rangers the next day, Cole wakes up in a jungle and five robotic animals greet him - Lion, Tiger, Bison, Shark, and Eagle - the Power Animals. Cole makes his way to a temple, where he is greeted by the Rangers and their mentor Princess Shayla. Cole shows them a red crystal with the lion in it. They surprise him by showing him their colored crystals. The Org from earlier returns to wreak more havoc in the city. Shayla dispatches the Rangers. Taylor gives Cole his Growl Phone and shows him how to morph. The Rangers are still unable to defeat the Orgs. They combine their weapons into the Jungle Sword, destroying Plug Org. Jindrax and Toxica appear. Toxica grows the Turbine Org grow into a giant. The Wild Zords come to help the Rangers and destroy the org.
Barbed Wire Org starts to attack the city with his wires. Jindrax and Toxica find the old org temple and find Master Org, the father of all orgs. The Rangers arrive in the city to fight the org, but while Cole tries to reason with it, Taylor wants to fight. An army of Putrids welcomes the Rangers, and Cole sticks to his plan and tries to reason with Barbwire Org. After he finds that orgs do not have hearts, he goes with Taylor's plan and morphs. The Rangers destroy Barbed wire Org with the Jungle Sword, and he grows to giant size after Jindrax and Toxica make themselves known to the Rangers. The Wild Zords come from the Animarium, and Red Lion tells Cole they need to combine the Wild Zords, forming the Wild Force Megazord. The team puts together their Crystal Sabers, and the power animals come together, and the Megazord is formed. The Rangers use the Mega Roar and destroy Barbed Wire Org, so Master Org creates a new plan. Back on the Animarium, the Rangers give Cole a make-over, officially making him part of the team.
Master Org gives Toxica and Jindrax a pep talk in preparation for his next dastardly plan. Cole reads Taylor's Ranger rule book but says there should only be one rule: teamwork. Taylor storms off and arrives in the city, noticing a woman telling her child about the Animarium. The story is told, but with a terrible result. Camera Org surfaces and makes everyone invisible with a single click. Taylor runs into Jindrax and the two fight until Camera Org makes Taylor invisible. The other Rangers come, and while Cole lures away Camera Org, Alyssa, Danny, and Max take on an army of Putrids. Cole tricks Camera Org and gets his film, restoring everyone's visibility. Taylor meets up with the Rangers, but Camera Org wraps them up. Cole unleashes his new Lion Blaster, destroying it, so Toxica revives him into a giant. The Rangers call the Wild Force Megazord, which destroys Camera Org with the Mega Roar. Taylor makes peace with Cole, accepting him as the new leader.
Max reads the newspaper and suggests that he and Danny check out the haunted temple to see if it has an org. Danny's mind is elsewhere, though, as he has his eyes on Kendall, whom he has a crush on. Kendall and Danny ride off, leaving Max behind. An upset Max decides to check the temple on his own, but gets scared and runs back. The next day, Danny tries to apologize but is distracted by Kendall once again. It turns out Bell Org was at the temple and traps Max in one of his bells. The other Rangers arrive to fight Bell Org. Danny hears Max inside the bell and runs to save him. The two best friends reconcile, and the Rangers regroup. Danny and Max injure Bell Org double and then form the Jungle Sword. Toxica resurrects the org into a giant, but the Mega Roar destroys it. Danny visits Kendall to tell her about his true feelings but chickens out. Luckily, Kendall finds a note Danny left for her.
Alyssa goes on an archeological dig for school, and while snooping around a cave, she finds a glowing Wild Force emblem. Later, she, Princess Shayla, and Cole check it out. Tire Org starts terrorizing the city, and three Rangers show up to fight it. Tire Org stalls Taylor, Danny, and Max, giving him time to dash over to Cole, Alyssa, and Princess Shayla. He kidnaps the princess, and the Rangers try to run after him. The power animals send the new savage cycles, and Alyssa stops Tire Org; the Rangers destroy Tire Org with a blast from the cycles, and Alyssa saves Princess Shayla. Toxica resurrects the org into a giant, and the Wild Force Megazord is formed. Master Org kidnaps Princess Shayla while the Rangers are busy and forces her to open the seal. Alyssa leaves the Megazord to help the Princess but is knocked out by Master Org. When Shayla tells Master Org that she can't open the seal, only the chosen one can; he decides to blow it up. After Master Org leaves, Shayla and Alyssa inspect the rubble and find that the Power Animal behind the seal still lives. An animal crystal appears before Alyssa and summons the Elephant Zord, forming the Wild Force Megazord sword and shield mode. Tire Org is destroyed, and Cole tries to master his new savage cycle.
Alyssa reads a story to Max and Danny about a creature in Turtle Lake that can grant wishes. Max falls asleep and has a dream about the Megazord getting defeated. Max wishes the others would stop calling him a kid, and as the book instructs, he writes it down on paper, puts it in a bottle, and throws it into the lake. That night, the Rangers fight Ship Org, who stole Max's bottle. Max is knocked out, and the Rangers take him back to the Animarium. There, he has the same dream, but this time, a voice tells him to use the Spear of Pardolis. He confides in Princess Shayla and then returns to fight Ship Org. The other Rangers join him, and the Jungle Sword destroys Ship Org. The Rangers then call their Wild Zords after Toxica revives him into a giant. Max's dream becomes a reality, and Princess Shayla remembers that Pardolis was an ancient Animarium warrior who had control over the Giraffe Zord, his spear. The Rangers then call on the Giraffe Zord, forming the Wild Force Megazord Spear Mode, and Ship Org is destroyed.
When jogging, Taylor stops by at the air force base and remembers when she first came to the Animarium. She meets two boys: wearing black and white, running from a security guard. She saves them from capture and finds out from the security guard that she was the best pilot Turtle Cove ever had. Then, Cellphone Org starts attacking the city and can disrupt the Rangers' ability to morph. He injures Taylor, who manages to hide in an abandoned factory. Putrids find her, but the two boys save her using psychic powers. While the other Rangers deal with Cellphone Org, Taylor is tasked by the boys to get two flowers from a cliff. The others break Cellphone Org's antenna, allowing Taylor to morph, fly, and get the flowers. The boys give her two seeds, and she then returns to the others. The Jungle Sword destroys Cellphone Org, and Toxica revives him into a giant. The Rangers notice the boys Taylor met before. The boys sprinkle pollen from the flowers on each other, turning them into the Black Bear and Polar Bear Zords. The seeds Taylor was given turns into animal crystals, and the Wild Force Megazord Double Knuckle is formed. Even though Cellphone Org is destroyed, Red Lion becomes tired from taking in energy from the bear brothers, causing the Megazord to overload.
The rangers learn of a magical Soul Bird in the forest that can heal the Wild Zords. Cole thinks that it may heal the Red Lion, so the Rangers head off to find it. However, they are stopped by Toxica, Jindrax, and a grown Bulldozer Org. Since Red Lion is still exhausted, the Rangers can't form the Megazord. Red Lion objects and says that he will fight, so the Rangers do what Jindrax and Toxica want them to. However, they need to use the bear brothers again. Red Lion becomes exhausted and injured, so the other Wild Zords try to protect him. Cole tries to find the Soul Bird, and Jindrax and Toxica go after him. But Taylor, Alyssa, Danny, and Max stop them. Cole encounters Master Org, who scares away the Soul Bird who states that the Soul Bird is never seen twice. The gorilla crystal then comes to Cole, who reunites with the others and forms the Kongazord. After Bulldozer Org is destroyed, the Rangers find a Soul Bird egg, and Cole becomes sad because the little chick won't know its mother... like him.
A wandering General Org called Retinax battles the Rangers to prove his worth. With Freezer Org's help and sacrifice, the Zords are frozen, and the Rangers are rendered powerless. The Soul Bird hatches, restore the Zords and powers and help the Rangers defeat Retinax. Master Org later finds the defeated Retinax and destroys him.
Master Org releases the General Org Nayzor, who finds and releases another Duke Org - Zen-Aku. Zen-Aku defeats the Rangers and steals the Elephant Zord from Alyssa.
An injured Alyssa is tended to by Zen-Aku after being attacked by Toxica and Jindrax. Zen-Aku summons his Dark Wild Zords (consisting of the Wolf Zord, the Hammerhead Zord, and the Alligator Zord) to battle the Rangers' Wild Zords.
As Cole takes on Zen-Aku, the others take on Bus Org who disguised himself as a bus which they had to free the passengers from. After defeating the Bus Org, the Rangers face Zen-Aku. He also combines his Dark Wild Zords into the Predazord and steals the Giraffe Power Animal from them.
Zen-Aku frees Motorcycle Org and kidnaps Princess Shayla. It seems that back in Taylor's past, she couldn't defeat Motorcycle Org and Princess Shayla had to seal him away with a spell. Shayla's necklace brings back memories for Zen-Aku. The Rangers battle Motorcycle Org and Zen-Aku and get back the Princess. After the Motorcycle Org is destroyed, Zen-Aku summons the Predazord which defeats the Kongazord. Taylor is defeated by Zen-Aku, who steals the Bear animal crystals.
As Zen-Aku begins to remember his past, Nayzor plants a bug in his head, which convinces him that he is evil, making him even more dangerous to the Rangers. This was unlikely proven when he crashes the Rangers' battle with Lawnmower Org and destroys him.
The ancient Animus intervenes to reveal Zen-Aku's true identity - Merrick, the ancient warrior who defeated Master Org by using the cursed wolf mask. By beating the Predazord with new zords, the Rangers break the curse, returning Merrick to normal.
After a failed attempt to retrieve the stolen Animal Crystals, Merrick must fight the Quadra Org, a Chimera-type Org who was created with the power of the crystals. With the Rangers tied up, Merrick battles on his own until his Wild Zords return to him and give him the power to morph into the Lunar Wolf Ranger. After Quadra Org was destroyed, Merrick destroys Nayzor and reclaims the stolen crystals.
Toxica secretly powers herself up into the newest General Org - Necronomica. This puts her into conflict with Jindrax even when he finds Karaoke Org. Merrick helps the Rangers defeat her with his latest vehicle - the Wolf Savage Cycle. Afterwards, Toxica and Jindrax make their escape after Toxica makes Karaoke Org grow.
Jindrax finds Master Org zapping Toxica after he found out that she used the Org Crown on herself. After being persuaded by Jindrax not to destroy her, Master Org order both of them to make themselves useful and find another Org. Signal Org makes Cole lose his memory. He ends up on a farm, but is eventually found by the Rangers and returned to normal to defeat Signal Org. Also, Alyssa discovers that Cole's parents have been presumed dead. Following Signal Org's destruction, Toxica and Jindrax explore Master Org's chamber based on Toxica's suspicions that he may be human. However, Master Org catches them and using his vines transforms Toxica and Jindrax into more powerful forms as well as brainwashing them into being completely loyal to him.
Bowling Org makes Max learn a new bowling technique, the tornado spin. To learn the move, he must convince his old bowling coach to regain his will to bowl.
Danny competes for Kendall's affection while the Rangers try to find Wedding Dress Org and his captives. Kendall discovers that Danny is the Black Ranger and inspires him to turn the tide against the Org single-handedly. In the end, Danny's life doesn't allow them to be together.
Alyssa's father is in town and calls Alyssa for lunch. Samurai Org stirs up trouble and Alyssa must recall her father's training to defeat him.
Nayzor is resurrected as the stronger Super Nayzor. He is defeated by Cole's new weapon, the Falcon Summoner. During the battle, Cole also manages to defeat Toxica and Jindrax which reverses their brainwashing and returns them to normal. They then abandon Master Org, determined to find someone to help them take down the impostor. When Master Org makes him grow, Super Nayzor is destroyed as a giant by the Rangers' new Megazord, the Isis Megazord which is made up the Falcon, the Deer, the Giraffe, the Rhino, and the Armadillo Zords.
Wes and Eric track down three MutOrgs from the future to Turtle Cove, where they team up with the Wild Force Rangers to battle them. The Rangers are incredibly overpowered, and only with the intervention of Jen are they able to escape. The MutOrgs managed to find their way to Master Org. The four remaining Time Force Rangers later arrive from the future, bringing Ransik and Nadira with them. They track down the MutOrgs and Ransik manages to destroy their mutant halves. This allows the 12 Rangers to destroy the trio. Afterwards, the 12 Rangers find that Ransik is now human.
Posing as his original form of Dr. Victor Adler upon him being found, Master Org kidnaps four of the Rangers and reveals his true origin to Cole. In a heated battle, Cole destroys Master Org's Org half, reverting him to an average human. Meanwhile, Toxica and Jindrax have found a replacement to lead them - General Org Mandilok. After Mandilok blasts Master Org and leaves him for dead, he comes back to life when an Org horn appears on his head.
Zen-Aku returns in a separate to rejoin with Merrick. Only by learning to accept help from his friends does Merrick defeat this evil from his past.
Cole befriends a mysterious young boy named Kite, who helps them defeat Mandilok's two new Duke Orgs - Artilla and Helicos.
Flute Org controls the citizens of Turtle Cove, and the Rangers, with his music. A surprising ally comes to their rescue - Animus.
Jindrax teams up with his brother Juggelo to prove his worth by destroying the Rangers. After his brother is killed, Jindrax narrowly escapes.
The Rangers battle for control of the Wild Zords against Lion Tamer Org. The Zords are broken free of the Org's spell by Kite, who displays some mysterious powers.
Mandilok convinces Kite that humans are no good and unleashes Monitor Org. Just as the Rangers defeat Monitor Org, Kite reveals himself as Animus and breaks off the control device that Jindrax and Toxica placed on the Wild Force Megazord. He determines that humans do not deserve the Wild Zords' help and takes them away.
The Rangers struggle to defeat Toy Org without their Zords. When Animus truly believes in humanity's soul and the Rangers' commitment to protecting the Earth when they fight against Toy Org, he returns the Zords to the Rangers.
Cole and nine other Red Rangers from the previous series unite to destroy the remaining generals of the Machine Empire who are excavating Serpentera.
To prepare for his return, Master Org sends the ninja Duke Org Onikage to take care of business. Onikage succeeds in kidnapping Shayla and destroys Toxica, and then creates Shadow Rangers to fight the Rangers. Master Org reappears and destroys Mandilok. The Pegasus Megazord destroys Onikage, but Master Org walks off with the Princess.
Jindrax sets up both the Rangers and the Locomotive Org to re-energize Toxica's horn, which he uses to fish her out of the Org Spirit World. Meanwhile, Master Org prepares the Nexus for a mysterious ceremony and snatches Princess Shayla's necklace, for it.
The Rangers battle resurrected Retinax, Nayzor, and Mandilok to disable the Nexus's force field so that their new allies Toxica and Jindrax may sneak in and rescue Princess Shayla.
Master Org returns and attacks the Rangers with his new form. He destroys all the Wild Zords and the Rangers' powers. The Wild Zords later return, along with other fallen Wild Zords, and destroy Master Org with an Ultra Roar. The Rangers then beat the Org Heart so that Master Org won't come back.
Thoughts:
I think that Wild Force is a good show and enjoyed my time watching the show with things I like the story, designs, some of the characters, and villains but I do have some criticisms like some of the episodes being forgettable, some acting and line delivery being a bit iffy, and some of the characters not having much going for them. Overall, I enjoyed this season and will always have good memories of watching this season.
Soundtrack:
I love the theme song and enjoy most of soundtrack because of its mystical feeling nature.
Characters:
(I will only be covering the rangers and villains for seasons that don't have any noteworthy or memorable side characters)
Tumblr media
I think the rangers are mostly good. I enjoyed Cole and thought his story was a great one. I enjoyed Danny for his kind personality. I enjoyed Taylor for her growth from resenting Cole for being the leader to making peace with Cole being the leader. I enjoyed Alyssa for her caring and kind personality like Danny. I enjoyed Max for his funny personality and friendship with Danny. I think Merrick is the least good of all the rangers but that mostly comes from appearances being infrequent and his personality being forgettable but his story about redemption is my favorite thing about him. Overall, I love the rangers despite some their flaws.
Tumblr media
(I couldn't find one that had all the Villains but if they were there it will be Jindrax and Toxica in good, Zen-Aku in good, Mandilok in ok, Nayzor in good, Artilla and Helicos in ok, Onikage in good, Juggelo in ok, and the Mut-Orgs in good.)
I enjoyed Master Org along with the rest of the Orgs for their concept but their execution varies with it overall being executed well. Master Org is probably my favorite character of this season because of his voice, his story, and how threatening he is. My issue with him is how he disappeared for a few episodes before returning because I almost forgot he was a thing before returning.
The other orgs I enjoyed for what they bring. I liked Jindrax and Toxica for their comedy and friendship, Zen-Aku for his design and his role in Merrick's story, Nayzor for how threatening he is, Onikage for his voice and ninja-like appearence, and the Mut-Orgs for tying into the last season by being a combination of Mutants and Orgs. I don't really have much to say about Juggelo, Mandilok, Artilla and Helicos but I thought they were all fine for the role they served.
I thought Prince Shayla and Kite were fine but I don't have much to say apart from that I didn't care about them.
Favorite Episodes:
Some of my favorite episodes include "Reinforcements From The Future" because of how cool it is and it was nice seeing the Time Force rangers. "Team Carnival" because of being a fun episode. "Taming of the Zords" for feature multiple Wildzords and generally being an enjoyable episode. "Forever Red" for many obvious reasons like having 10 red rangers onscreen at once is cool, enjoying the fight scenes, character interactions, etc. "Fishing For A Friend" for being an enjoyable plot important episode and showing one of the supporting villain's humanity. "The End Of The Power Rangers" for being a great finale to this season and showing how much our characters have grown since the begin of the season.
Designs:
Tumblr media
I like the designs of the suits and think they are some of the best in Sentai and PR.
Tumblr media
The Zords to me are overall great with some lacking but they still are able to show off how great they are.
Tumblr media
The Megazords have to be some of my favorite from PR and Sentai with how varied they get and with each of the combinations not feeling redundant but some are ranked lower due to them being used very little.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, I think that Wild Force is an good season and think people shouldn't skip it if you are rewatching all of Power Rangers.
Overall Rating and Tier Ranking: 8/10

I was half asleep last night and I started thinking about when Percy was in the BoL on the ranch. I started reviewing all the animals they had there and I was like Apollo’s cows, flesh eating horses, red turtles, green turtles,… then I was like I wonder if Mario orders his turtles from Geryon. Then I was positive that Geryon had said that he delivers the turtles to an Italian plumber. Then I was like what a sick plot twist, awesome crossover!!!!

A Recap of The Red Turtle.
An animated film about a stranded man on a mysterious tropical island guarded by a massive sea turtle.
Tumblr media
Shipwreck to shipwreck?
Tumblr media
The movie begins with an unnamed man fighting to stay afloat and get back to his small boat during a dangerous ocean storm, after a brief black screen we see him washed ashore onto a bamboo forested tropical island far from any civilization. After searching inland for fresh water and fruits he began searching the outer parts and spots a floating barrel in the ocean, making his way to it from the top of a cliff he slips and falls into an enclosed cave, thinking fast he spots an opening just big enough underwater and manages to slip through but when he inspects the barrel it breaks.
He then gathers fallen bamboo to start working on a raft, at night he spots a group of baby sea turtles making their way to the ocean, after dreaming of flying across a bridge stretched across the ocean he wakes up and begins constructing the raft and a boat ramp to move it into the water. While resting and eating he feeds a small group of crabs then gathers more food and sets sail while the crabs watch, his raft is soon broken by an unknown creature, and he is forced to swim back to the island where the crabs seem to greet him.
He immediately starts working on another raft until the sounds of cicadas suddenly stop, he heads to the beach only to find that there's nothing there and the sound of the cicadas return. Some time passes, as seen by him now having facial hair, he sets sail again on a raft twice as big only to be met with the same fate. After living on the island for what appears to be months, giving the state of his clothing, he is woken one night by the sound of a quartet (a 4-man orchestra) but upon closer inspection they disappear then reappear at a different location to only disappear again.
The following morning, while working on a third raft he spots a dead sea lion which was briefly shown the day he arrived. Making customized pants from the fur he sets sail on his biggest raft yet equipped with two sails and a bamboo spear, after his raft is attacked and broken by the same creature, he finally meets it face to face, a red sea turtle almost three times his size. After identifying him as a non-thread it leaves, and the man is once again forced to swim back to the island.
The Red-Haired Woman
Tumblr media
After expressing his frustration in the forest he spots the same turtle coming onto land, with rage in his eyes he rushes to it and hits it on the head with a peace of bamboo then flips it onto its back. Later that day he is building another raft while the turtle lays in the scorching sun unable to move, that night after realizing what he's done he desperately tries to flip it over then splashes sea water onto its face. He sleeps besides it and wakes up to look around the beach but when he looks back he's in shock to see a red hair woman inside of the turtle shell, he makes sure he isn't dreaming then rushes to give her fresh water and builds a small shelter to protect her from the sun.
The next day he realizes her shelter isn't enough to keep the rain from passing through the leaves so he heads inland to gather more but upon return the woman is no longer there. After the day passes the woman, now in the ocean, watches him sleep at the edge of the shore. Realizing he has no clothes he drops his tunic and wait in the forest for a moment then walks out only to find her casting her broken shell into the ocean, seeing this he hesitantly casts his unfinished raft into the ocean then sinks into the water for a swim.
She soon joins him and the two seemingly embrace for a moment. Getting out, they sit on the sands of the lagoon where he reflects on his previous outrage while she opens oysters, tracing her fingers down his face they both walk back to the island where they embrace and eventually kiss.
New Life
Tumblr media
The movie introduces their newborn boy who finds a glass flask washed up near the rocks, the parents begin to draw in the sand with the dad drawings caveman fighting mammoths and the mom drawing a turtle. The scene shifts to the family picking plants near the same cave entrance at the start with the son falling into it this time where shortly after he learns to swim, after the mom instructs him to swim underneath he passes through the same opening his dad did, exiting the cave he meets a small green sea turtle who just looks at him for a moment before his dad swims to get him.
A few years later the son, now a teenager, is now swimming with two green sea turtles for a short time. The scene moves to the whole family gathering oysters in hand crafted baskets, the son heads inland while the parents stay on the lagoon but suddenly notice the seagulls acting strangely. Noticing the water in the lagoon has cleared, the mom then looks out at the ocean only to see a huge tidal wave heading their way, meanwhile the son notices the sounds of cicadas has stopped and heads back to the beach only to be forced back when the tsunami reaches the shoreline, all while the parents desperately run to the island.
After surviving, the son climbs out of the fallen bamboo and searches the island for his parents, he finds his mom passes out in a ditch with an injured leg but no signs of his dad. His mom signals that he was taken by the current into the ocean and after hugging her he sets out to find his dad with the help of his now three turtle friends. An entire day passes when he finally catches a glimpse of his dad hanging on to a peace of baboo for dare life but soon falls into the ocean due to exhaustion, the turtles help keep him from sinking and the son pulls him above the surface where the turtles help them back to the island.
Finally reaching the shore they are greeted by the mom with a hug finally united after a few days, they clear the broken bamboo and build a huge pile where they then burn it at night. Several years later the son, now a young man with facial hair, dreams of the ocean creating a giant wall around the island. Taking time to walk around the island and think about what he just dreamt he is spotted by his dad but wasn't followed. At the end of the following day he sits next to his parents where they silently understand that he wants to leave, they spend the final night sleeping together as a family and the parents see him off the next day where he swims out into the ocean with his turtle friends.
The Rest Of Our Lives
Tumblr media
The couple now alone grieve the departure of their son and spend time comforting each other. Many years later the couple, now elderly, spend their days walking around the island and dancing with one another. One night while the mom sleeps, the dad looks out at the ocean as he slowly closes his eyes and passes away in his sleep, the dying sounds of the cicadas as this happens wakes the mom and she finds her lover now deceased. She spends the next few days next to him grieving until one night she lays next to him holding his hand and slowly turns back into the red turtle then leaves towards the ocean where the movie ends.

Over the Hedge: The Big Heist is an American computer-animated heist comedy film loosely based on the comic strip of the same name by Michael Fry and T. Lewis. Produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Universal Pictures, it is the sequel to Over the Hedge (2006). The film is directed by Joel Crawford and co-directed by Karey Kirkpatrick from a screenplay written by Paul Fisher, Bob Logan, and Kirkpatrick and produced by Bonnie Arnold. The music for the film was composed by Heitor Pereira and songs were written by Ben Folds.
In the film’s ensemble voice cast, Steve Carell, Wanda Sykes, Thomas Haden Church, Allison Janney, Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Avril Lavigne, and Omid Djalili reprised their roles from the first film, with the exception of Bruce Willis (who retired from his acting career in 2022), Gary Shandling (who passed away in 2016), William Shatner, and Nick Nolte, all of whom are replaced by Stephen Stanton, Drew Massey, and Jess Harnell.
Based on the storyline of the 2006 tie-in video game, the film follows RJ, Hammy, Verne, and the gang, who feel that they need to have more things for the log. This leads them on a wild romp through six different areas to snatch different things while avoiding the Verminator during their heist, who tries to defeat them by using a mind-controlled vermin he has captured as his henchmen.
A sequel to Over the Hedge was first announced, with Karey Kirkpatrick returning and Joel Crawford helming the project. As with DreamWorks' previous films The Bad Guys and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, the inspiration for the film's animation style came from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which gives it a visual style that resembles storybook illustrations. To make the film look like a comic strip, the team focused more on a Peanuts Movie style design by using new technology, different than what it was in the first film, which utilized the realistic style like Shrek (2001).
The film received positive reviews from critics, with praise for its animation, voice acting, writing, and humor, with many deeming it superior to its predecessor.
Cast
Steve Carell as Hammy, a hyperactive American red squirrel.
Wanda Sykes as Stella, a short-tempered, sassy stripped skunk.
Thomas Haden Church as Dwayne LaFontant, an over-zealous, middle-aged pest exterminator nicknamed the "Verminator".
Allison Janney as Gladys Sharp, the president of the El Rancho Camelot Estates Home Owners Association.
Eugene Levy as Lou, a North American porcupine and Penny’s husband.
Catherine O’Hara as Penny, a North American porcupine and Lou’s wife.
Avril Lavigne as Heather, a Virginia opossum and Ozzie’s teenage daughter.
Omid Djalili as Tiger, a Persian cat and Stella’s fiancé.
Stephen Stanton as RJ, a duplicitous, selfish, con artist, and extremely intelligent raccoon, and Ozzie, a Virginia opossum and Heather’s father.
Drew Massey as Verne, a naturally cynical ornate box turtle and leader of the foragers.
Jess Harnell as Vincent, a murderous, sadistic and conscienceless American black bear.
Shane Baumel, Sami Kirkpatrick, and Madison Davenport as Spike, Bucky and Quillo, Lou and Penny's three identical children. They appear through the use of previously-recorded material from the first film and the 2006 tie-in video game.
Brian Stephane as Nugent, an excitable Rottweiler whose only spoken word is "Play!". He otherwise communicates by barks.
Charlie Schlatter as Milton, a mole who is mind-controlled by Dwayne LaFontant.

I’m continuing my trend of animated films for my next screening at the London Film Festival and the film I chose next is right up my alley. Madara in the real world: Chapter 3
Prologue Chapter 1 Chapter 2
I drove down the gravel road, watching from the corner of my eye as Madara inspected all the buttons on his door. I saw him roll the window down, his hair flying in his face as we got on the road, he quickly fumbled to roll the window up, which I did for him as he started cursing. He hit the unlock button which I relocked immediately, his eyes focusing on the lock moving up and down as he hit it again, making me roll my eyes and lock it again.
"Please don't unlock the door, I'd rather not get into a car accident." I chuckled, seeing him glance at me then turn away quickly.
"Where are we going?" He asked, changing the subject quickly.
"The mall, it'll have multiple places we can go to find something you like." I said, thinking I could also take a quick peak in Spencer's while there. The rest of the 20 minute ride was silent, save for when he discovered the radio and started changing the channels until he came across the button that played my Spotify, Streets by Doja Cat coming on making me grin.
"What is this?" He asked, his face not giving away much on if he liked it or not. His features tended to stay quite stoic.
"Its music from an artist called Doja Cat. She's actually one of my favourite artists." I said, mouthing the lyrics lightly as he watched me for a moment, his eyes watching my hands, drumming lightly on the wheel, my leg moving as I pressed on the pedals, my soft lips silently mouthing sensual words. He turned away from me abruptly, not that I really noticed. I turned into the malls parking lot, parking quite close with how early in the day it was.
"This is quite big." He said, eyeing the building as we stepped out of the car. I came up behind him and shrugged.
"It's got multiple stores in it, they all need space so it needs to be big." I said, walking forward as wind blew around us, Madara quickly came up behind me and I felt his hand on the edge of my skirt.
"This may not have been an appropriate choice of clothing for this weather." He muttered to me, his cheeks a light pink as he avoided my gaze. I grinned and moved his hand to my hip, continuing to walk with him by my side.
"Not if you're beside me." I said with a slight grin, seeing him huff but he didn't move his hand, pulling me closer slightly as another gust of wind blew past, it was quite funny with the 11 inch height difference.
We entered the mall and I guided Madara to our first stop, just a simple H&M and Levi's haul for now until we got into the center of the mall. I let him look around, asking him what he thought of some pieces I thought he'd look good in, we ended up getting the majority of his things here, though he wanted to look around a bit after spotting a jacket and some shoes he liked. Most of his clothes were some shade of black or grey, navy blue and dark red were really the only variation in the fabrics. I found that Madara leans more to the professional or clean looking styles in this world, many pants being a form of dress pant or solid denim as opposed to sweatpants or the like; though I still made him get some of those.
His shirts also didn't vary much either, most long sleeved or turtle necked, I made him get a few t-shirts however even if just for around the house. I was currently eyeing the spencer's across from the current store we were in, waiting as Madara tried on a few jackets, I was hoping after this I could take a quick look at their anime shirts and the back section. I was always looking for a new sexy anime girl shirt or new toy to review.
"Do you want to go over there?" I jumped a little at his voice, putting a hand over my heart as I let out a breath.
"You scared me." I breathed, trying to calm my racing heart as he looked at me with a slightly amused smirk.
"I can tell." He said making me roll my eyes. "You didn't answer my question." He said making me sigh.
"Yea, I wanted to see if they have any new anime shirts or new toys in the back." I said, looking back at the dark store, seeing the brightly haired employees putting plague doctor squishmellows up making my jaw drop. "I'm getting one of those stuffies." I said, making Madara raise an eyebrow.
"Why?" He asked making me roll my eyes.
"Because I have a thing for anything cute and fluffy. Why do you think I like you?" I said, turning around and walking up to the counter. "You found what you want?" I asked, seeing Madara blink in confusion by the quick change in topic and nod, following me as we went up to pay, adding another bag to our many that I held.
"Let me carry these." He said, grabbing the bags as we exited the store.
"No, I got it." I said, trying to protest but he just took the bags anyways. "Rude." I huffed, walking after him into the spencer's.
"I won't let a lady carry everything when I'm perfectly capable of helping her." He said making me blush slightly, turning away and exploring the Spencer's I've become so familiar with.
"Hey Alex, looking for anything specific?" Zane, the only male employee of the store asked. He was a sweet kid, only 16 and always looking to help when you need him.
"Just looking around." I said, looking at the new septum jewelry they got in. "Does that say glow in the dark?" I asked, looking at the black ring with a neon green heart. Zane laughed and nodded, taking it out of the sealed case.
"Indeed it does, we also have some matching earrings over there by the shot glasses." He said making me nod.
"Fuck yea." I said, turning to him with a grin. "Got any more sexy ladies for me?" I asked him, Madara raised an eyebrow at this but didn't comment, observing as the teenage boy lead us over to the t-shirt display, pulling out a white shirt of a green haired lady in a ramen bowl in a very revealing position with her ass out. I grinned and nodded, grabbing the shirt.
"Sexy ramen lady? Hell yea." I said, Zane chuckling and pulling out a light pink one.
"Personally a fan of the 'you've yee'd your last haw' cowboy possum but, to each their own." He said making my grin widen.
"I like that, I'll take it too." I said, taking the shirt he handed to me and walking into the back section, Madara's gaze dropping to the floor as he caught sight of the lewd items.
"Must we be back here?" He asked making me roll my eyes.
"Don't tell me you're embarrassed, Madara?" I teased, not getting a response making me turn to him in surprise, seeing his head hung low, refusing to meet my eyes as I stepped closer. "Madara, you don't need to be embarrassed." I said, standing under him so he was looking at me and grinning as he tried to look away, only to avert his eyes from the sexual items around us and back to me.
"Can we leave?" He asked before I grinned, stepping back as I bit my lip.
"Only if you pick the next thing I wear in my videos." I said, seeing his eyes widen as his eyes glanced to the wall of scandalous outfits, his face turning flustered in a tsundere way making me grin wider.
"W-what?" He stuttered, the normally stoic Uchiha looking like a deer in headlights as he stared at me.
"You heard me. Pick." I said, grinning as I looked at the wall, smirking as I spotted an Akatsuki lingerie set, another of a cat, a maid, a cop, a nurse, then one of a school girl, the list went on. He hesitantly looked at all the clothing, if you could call it that, and took a few nerve wracking moments tracing his eyes over them, gulping down the foreign anxiety building in him.
"That one.." He said, pointing to a skimpy demon set as he quickly looked away. I grinned and picked one of them in my size, going up to the checkout counter to pay and go home. Madara was quiet the whole way to the exits, I was carrying half the stuff after arguing with him upon just leaving the store. Just as we got outside Madara put his hand on my hip again, the wind had picked up quite a bit since we entered, my hip flush against his as his hand kept the other part of my skirt down. We got to the car, putting our stuff in the back, resulting in Madara awkwardly trying to hold my skirt down, which had me chuckling before getting in, leaving the slowly populating mall.
I pulled into the garage after a short while, stepping out and opening the back to grab our stuff, Madara hovering behind me to grab the rest. I moved to squeeze past him, accidentally brushing against him as I made my way into the house, the Uchiha following close behind. I set the bags on the table, turning to Madara only for him to set the bags on the table before rushing upstairs, leaving me confused to sort through the clothes. I shook my head and let Seth out for a pee while I started to unpack everything, organizing it all so one bag held shirts, another of pants and then his jacket hung up and shoes still in their box on the table. I hauled the bags up to his room and paused, raising a hand to knock, hearing rustling on the other side of the door.
"You okay?" I asked, stepping back as he swung the door open.
"How do you use the shower?" He asked, I blinked in surprise and took a moment to respond.
"I can show you. Uh.. Are you alright though?" I asked as he pushed past me into the bathroom, leaving me to follow him and quickly show him how to use it.
"Thank you. Now, get out." He said, pushing me out of the room and locking the door in my face making me blink. I was very confused now, he was acting really strange. I decided to brush it off and go put my own things away, hanging up the new shirts and putting the new lingerie set on a hanger to wait for my next shoot, tossing the squishmellow on the bed. I got out my laptop and headphones, decided to take this time alone to spend editing the videos I shot last night, thankful these videos were not nearly as hard to do as youtube videos for editing.
I managed to work through them within about 2 hours when I finally heard the shower shut off, the door opening a few minutes later. Damn, what the hell was he in there so long for? I had moved to my pc and was casually playing Stardew Valley when Madara walked in. I paused the game quickly as I spun my chair around to face him, blushing as I realized he was shirtless, I also noticed he didn't have the Hashirama cells anymore, now just a thin scar where Hashirama would have originally stabbed him in its place.
"Hey, whatcha doing?" I asked, my eyes widening as he leaned down to my face, narrowing his eyes as I leaned back in my chair.
"I don't know what your game is here, but it needs to stop. Or it will end very badly for you." He growled out, I could feel a shiver go down my spine at his tone, my breath hitching as I stared into his dark eyes.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I said, my mouth felt dry as his intense eyes stared me down, he scoffed and pulled away, letting me breath.
"If you don't stop, I may not be so tolerant next time." He threatened, walking out as his still wet hair clung to his tense back. I was frozen there for a moment before I simply turned and went back to my game, internally freaking out as my face was stuck bright red from his words and because of how close he got to me. It took everything in me to focus on his words and not his chest, I just wanna… Ugh! I need to calm down.
