The Story of Recioto della Valpolicella: Passion and Tradition. Featuring Cantina Benedetti as one of the Finest Amarone Producers
The world of wine is filled with fascinating stories that intertwine tradition, history, and the sheer dedication of winemakers. One such story is that of Recioto della Valpolicella, a luscious and unique wine originating from the Veneto region of Italy. In this article, we will explore the rich history, winemaking process, and the significance of Recioto della Valpolicella in the wine world. Additionally, we will shine a spotlight on Cantina Benedetti, one of the esteemed producers of Amarone wines, including Recioto della Valpolicella.
A Historical Journey
The origins of Recioto della Valpolicella can be traced back centuries ago, to the hillsides and vineyards of the Valpolicella region in northeastern Italy. The Valpolicella wine region is nestled between the city of Verona and Lake Garda, creating a unique microclimate perfect for cultivating grapes. It is believed that the ancient Romans first introduced viticulture to this area, and winemaking traditions have been passed down through generations ever since.
Recioto della Valpolicella holds a special place in the region's winemaking history. Its roots can be traced back to the ancient technique of "appassimento," which involves drying harvested grapes to concentrate their sugars and flavors. This method was likely developed as a means of preserving grapes during times of hardship and uncertainty. Over time, winemakers discovered that the dried grapes produced a unique and sweet wine.
The Making of Recioto della Valpolicella
Recioto della Valpolicella is made primarily from three indigenous grape varieties: Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara. These grapes are carefully harvested by hand, usually in late September or early October, when they have reached optimal ripeness. The clusters are then carefully sorted to select only the healthiest and most mature grapes.
After the initial selection, the grapes undergo the appassimento process. Traditionally, they are spread out on bamboo racks or straw mats in well-ventilated rooms or lofts, allowing for controlled dehydration. This drying process can last anywhere from three to four months, during which the grapes lose a significant amount of their water content, concentrating the remaining sugars, flavors, and aromas.
Once the grapes have reached the desired level of dehydration, they are gently pressed to extract the intensely flavored must. The must is then fermented slowly and at controlled temperatures to preserve the wine's unique characteristics. The fermentation process is halted before completion, leaving a considerable amount of residual sugar in the wine, resulting in its sweet and luscious profile.
Traditionally, Recioto della Valpolicella is aged in large oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop complexity and balance. The aging process can range from two to five years or more, depending on the producer's preferences and the specific vintage. This extended aging period contributes to the wine's depth, richness, and ability to age gracefully over time.
The Essence of Recioto della Valpolicella
Recioto della Valpolicella is renowned for its sweetness and complexity. Its vibrant ruby color allures the senses, while its bouquet offers a symphony of aromas, including ripe cherries, dried figs, raisins, cocoa, and a hint of spice. On the palate, the wine envelops the mouth with velvety smoothness, showcasing flavors of dark chocolate, blackberries, and a touch of balsamic. The residual sugar balances beautifully with the wine's acidity, resulting in a harmonious and lingering finish.
The wine
's sweetness makes it an ideal pairing for desserts, such as chocolate-based confections, fruit tarts, or creamy cheeses. Its versatility also extends to savory dishes, where it can complement rich meat dishes or be used as an ingredient in gourmet sauces and reductions.
Cantina Benedetti: A Beacon of Excellence
When discussing the finest producers of Amarone wines, Cantina Benedetti stands out as an exemplary representative. Situated in the heart of the Valpolicella region, Cantina Benedetti has established itself as a family-owned winery committed to producing exceptional wines that embody the spirit of the land.

Each step of the winemaking process is carried out with precision and attention to detail, from the selection of the grapes to the final bottling.
Among the array of wines crafted by Cantina Benedetti, their Amarone and Recioto della Valpolicella offerings truly shine. The winery's approach to winemaking embraces both tradition and innovation, resulting in wines that encapsulate the essence of the region while embracing modern winemaking techniques.
Cantina Benedetti's Recioto della Valpolicella exemplifies the qualities that make this wine so beloved. With their skilled hands and dedication to quality, the winemakers at Cantina Benedetti produce a Recioto that enthralls the senses and showcases the unique character of the Valpolicella grapes.
Conclusion

@jegulus-microfic | march 16 arrange | words: 1094
hiii i don’t have much to say about this one really. it exists so you can enjoy it:3
Sirius lit another cigarette, still thinking about what he could do to make his brother and best friend stop pining after each other. He knew them his whole life—he basically raised Regulus and let James and his parents raise him. He knew them both inside and out, could see how one looked at the other, how they talked with each other, and how they cared for each other. He’s heard rants from them both about how they felt. And still, he couldn’t come up with anything.
When he lit up his fourth cigarette, the door behind him opened. Remus stood there, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
“Honey, what are you doing? It’s almost three in the morning; come to bed,” his fiancé croaked in a sleepy voice.
Sirius sighed at that, propping his head on his knees. “I don’t know what to do with Reggie and James.”
“What about them?” Remus asked, walking closer and taking one cigarette for himself.
“You know, I want to help them get together, but I don’t know how I should do it. They would be so great together, Moony,” he groaned, throwing his head back.
Remus stood there, smoking, looking as if he were contemplating something. After a minute, he said, “We should arrange a date for them.”
Sirius sat up straighter and looked at his partner with a bright smile and hopeful eyes.
***
On Friday evening, James found himself in front of his mirror, getting ready for dinner with Remus and Sirius to celebrate their engagement. They chose this fancy Italian restaurant on a rooftop at Thames. It was too posh for James’ liking, but they served the most delicious pumpkin ravioli he ever ate, so he didn’t complain.
He put on a deep maroon shirt and black dress trousers, completing the outfit with a black trench coat, and went out. He lived just a few blocks away, so he took a walk there.
As he got to the restaurant, James approached the hostess and gave her the name from the reservation. She led him to a small table at the back, next to the window with a view of the river.
“Can I bring you something to drink, sir?” the woman asked with a polite smile.
“A bottle of white wine, please,” James replied, smiling back.
Regulus arrived shortly after him. He looked like a god with his perfectly curled black hair, wearing striped black suit trousers and a matching vest with a white high-collar shirt underneath. James felt his mouth water at the sight, but he tried to remain calm.
When the younger man approached their table, James stood up, smiling widely.
“Hi, Little Star,” he greeted cheerfully, and noticed Regulus’ cheeks turning a pretty pink colour.
“Hello, James. Where are the two idiots?” he asked, sitting down.
"They should be here soon," James replied, looking at his watch. Sirius told him that he and Remus would arrive around 8:30, so technically they had another fifteen minutes.
They didn’t get a chance to say anything else when a waiter came to them with a big wine selection.
“You choose,” James told Regulus. “I don’t know shit about these things.”
Reg just smiled and picked the one called Vernus Recioto di Soave—something sweet, he said. The man serving them poured some into their glasses, waiting for approval, then left the bottle at the table and walked away, giving them time to choose something from the menu.
“I’m taking the pumpkin ravioli. Periodt” James said as soon as he got the small book. Regulus looked at him, smirking. “What?” The older man asked, amused.
"Nothing,” Reg said, still smirking. “Why don’t you try something else? I could choose for you.”
“Oh?” James laughed a little. “Should I pick something for you, then? It would be fair, don’t you think?” In response, Regulus chuckled and nodded, mumbling a quiet okay.
They sat there for another twenty minutes when James’ phone rang: Sirius.
“Hello, darling” came from the other end of the line.
“Hi, Pads. Where are you?” James asked, giggling.
“Yeah, about that,” his friend started, dragging out the first word. “We’re not coming.” James’ eyes went wide at that.
“What do you mean?” he asked, a bit stunned.
“We are not going to the restaurant. But don’t worry, we still pay for dinner,” Sirius added quickly. “Have fun with Reggie, byeee,” and then the call ended. This motherfucker, James should kill him.
He threw the phone back at the table, exhaling loudly.
“What?” Regulus asked, confused.
James cleared his throat and answered, “Well, they’re not coming, but they’ll still pay.” Reg’s eyebrows shoot up in shock, but quickly his face turns into something mischievous.
“So we shall take advantage of my brother’s card,” he said, winking at James.
When their waiter came back, they ordered the meals they picked for each other, one beef carpaccio, the other beetroot, another bottle of wine for later, and a cheeseboard as a starter.
They drank wine, talked about what was going on in their lives, about dumb people they had to work with, and joked about their past. As the dishes arrived, they were already halfway through the second bottle, so another has been ordered.
When they were done with the main courses, the waiter suggested a dessert, so they ordered all seven there were.
“Can you charge someone by their card information?" Regulus asked when the waiter brought them the bill. The man just nodded in response, writing down the numbers Regulus gave him. They left a generous tip and went out of the restaurant.
James put his arm around Regulus’ shoulders, pulling him closer as they went down the river in the general direction of James' flat. Everything seemed funny to them at this point, so when they got to the apartment building, both of them were practically crawling on the pavement. After a few more minutes of laughter, they gathered themselves enough to look at each other with wide grins.
“It’s late, and it’s too dangerous to walk this far,” James said when Regulus suggested he should go home. “You can stay at mine, though,” he added, feigning nonchalance. The other’s eyes sparkled at the statement.
“Can I really?” he asked flirtatiously.
James laughed breathlessly and shook his head in response. Taking Regulus’ hand, he led them both to the second floor, to his flat.
When Sirius came to visit James the next morning and saw his best friend and brother cuddling on the bed, all he could think was that his mission had been accomplished.

pairing v x stripper!reader conspectus there will be no good man to ever walk this earth again, every single one of them is bad; all they ever do is hurt you but with taehyung.. he hurts too good to be bad. word count 1.3k words notes mentions of: explicit language, alcohol, drugs, and implicit nsfw themes (MINORS BEWARE>:^(()- lightly inspired by closer(2004), iykyk already - happy reading!!
the purple mixed with blue hues of smoke that clouded your gaze as your hips swayed to the sensual tunes being played by the dj, gave you a delicious taste of liberty - sad to say it would only be so quick, now that you're back here.. up on this stage, dolled-up and dancing for men that want nothing more than to fuck you senseless and leave you in tears - it was an infuriating truth really, but you've grown indifferent to the idea.
after having worked almost a year in this bar, you've slowly accepted that all of them were vile pieces of shit - no exceptions: not the bartender who was decent to you, not even your guy friends at school who respected what you had to do, most especially not the guys who insensitively teased you for it, and most especially not your favorite actor. no man will ever be good! at this point - jesus, the gays, and everyone else in time eventually fit into that "bad" mold you originally only made for men..
all the good in this world really just went poof and dissapeared, you could barely remember the last good thing that happened to you - the thought compels you to sigh as you take the last dip of your routine holding the pole that stood pristine, a cacophony of your male fans cheer watching their money that held on for dear life in your panties and giggle to themselves at the thought of having their hand so near the very thing they craved in life. you give them one last finger bite you'd know they'd go insane for, before the lights shut down and you hurriedly collect the money that fell from your skimpy underwear to then head into the makeup room where the rest of the girls are heavily breathing.
"you good, girl?" sweetest girl in this hellhole, gigi asked you with a hand on your hip - look of genuine concern colored her eyes.. "always mommy." the indirect response making her snort and playfully roll her eyes, "oh y/n.. i can't with you!" she feigned annoyance while simultaneously gently handing you a glass of water and rubbing your back in comfort, you graciously accepted and took a few deep breaths in.
a few beats pass and you feel that same feeling you did again on stage gradually embrace you, having you at ease until you hear that stingy and irritating voice of your manager - "wake up, mathilda. you have a regular waiting in room 3. go, now." the name no longer confused you, and you were back to the same bold person on stage - you rushed a thankful adieu to gigi for her kind gift of hydration before rushing to the room where he had probably been waiting for you awhile.
you open the door to see an old face, speak of the devil - it's taehyung. "hey mathilda." he says manspreading, his shirt opened with a hand holding a glass of recioto; eyes tinted with fond longing, tinted with dark longing. "taehyung.. you've come to see me.. again." he chuckles at this, "why? you tired of me already, mattie?" you smirk but internally flush at his poisonous charms.
"i'd never be tired of you, taehyung." you neared him with a coy look and lied, but the light that dimmed in his eyes told you he knew; sipping the red wine wistfully. "i've always been honest with you, mat. why do you like lying to me, even your name - mathilda, is that even your real name? are you even my good little girl?" his breath reeked of more than the wine as he dared to almost kiss you, lips inches apart itching to wrap in each others warmth.
"me? taehyungie.. i don't like lying to you.. i love it." you'd cockily admit, which made him raise a brow - the very last sip of his wine slipping into his lips down his throat, you were envious of that red liquid; oh how you wished it was you instead.. which you wanted badly, driving you to add more fuel to the fire:
"and yes i am your good little girl.." he places down now empty glass, a subtle smile and a light pink colors his cheeks though his true feelings are unclear with his eyes looking away from you, this only moves you to continue:
"my name? you're right, it's not mathilda.." his eyes return to look at you with his favorite coy expression painted on your face he yearned to look at for the rest of his lifetime.
"hey daddy, i'm y/n. it's nice to finally meet you." a beat passes. "taehyungie? daddy? you naughty little girl." you smile devilishly, the smile everyone loved but him, taehyung for one was extremely infatuated by it - by your entirety.
another beat passes and he brings himself to question you: "if i asked you to, would you kiss me?" the two of you looked down the near proximity between your lips.
"if you asked, i would have to call security." you reminded him of the no touching policy, you attempt to remain indifferent but failing to do so as he adorably pouted and looked away, bringing you to smile adoringly - taehyung circles the room distancing from you, it's a little pang to the heart but it wasn't like the many small pains that hurt you greatly more than once before - it was a pain you pathetically enjoyed, though it killed you to admit it.
"strip." taehyung demanded, his voice husky and soothing to which you proudly obliged. his first official request, no what ifs or could you's - you wondered where he'd find the balls to finally ask of you to properly do your job, amusing yourself whilst you amuse him.
the color of the brunette's eyes saturate beholding your stature, astonished at the perfection you are. you fail not to blush at this but grandly he was too fixated on your beauty to notice, it was an odd feeling that has never occured before which had you fear the sentiment but also compare it to the freedom you felt slightly on that stage realizing how similar it was. his hands hover over the curves of your figure fighting the urge to hold you, love you, and touch you, he couldn't risk being discarded now that he's seen this piece of art he could not bring himself to stop looking at.
you let the feeling finally take over and the ecstatic embrace of freedom breaks you from all burdens and you open up to taehyung like the previous sessions he's had with you, you touched his chest feeling him and your eyes meet with equivalent hunger. the green light entices you to inch closer and closer with no more regard for company policy and the two of you finally kiss.
you could no longer remember what happened next - it was all a blur, but that feeling of freedom remains embedded to every inch in your body. mostly now, that taehyung holds you in his arms like he wanted to protect you from all the bad things in the world, like he'd probably always dreamed of; the way you'd dream of one day being held by someone. and you loved that, you treasured resting on his chest looking up to his peacefully slumbering visage and feeling content as you realize that even with the existence of bad men there's taehyung to alleviate the thoughts of them and help you escape.
he was no different from the men that wished to bed you in the eyes of others really, but to you... he has made you rethink of this idea you set on men, he had made you feel real, and taehyung was first to actually do so. you'd like to stray from his arms now, but you'd love to stay.. and so you close your eyes and almost levitate from the rebirth of life in your body that he's allowed you to feel again in so long.
© live laugh love kim taehyung, good boy.

Porca merda!
A very real and very lethal arrow has just lodged itself securely in the exterior wall of Fannar's residence. The red heart tipped arrow, firmly embedded, has a white card tied to the golden feather fletching at the end. An individual adorned with large white wings and a tightly wrapped cloth diaper covering their ass sprinted to the arrow they launched and places a beautifully wrapped gift basket underneath it before they retreat into an unmarked vehicle and speed away. Opening the card would expose gorgeous calligraphy neatly detailing the ramblings of someone likely experiencing a break in reality.
Buona Festa degli Innamorati!
I hope my gifts find you in good spirits! Unfortunately, I could not be the one to hand deliver them to you since you live just a little bit too far for me to send in a timely manner. Therefore, I have paid some very lovely and silly people to dress as gli aiutanti di Cupido. If you see a young (naked) man wearing big angel wings and running around with an archer’s bow please do blow him a kiss as thanks!
Usually, I wouldn’t go out of my way to do something like this since Valentine’s Day is almost exclusively celebrated between couples in Italy, but I thought it might be fun to surprise you. As the country of origin for the tradition, I was ordained by St. Valentine himself in a dream to carry on his mission of love and subverting authority on February 14th. Since I have no idea (or desire to find out) if you are in a relationship or not, I have taken the liberty of assuming not and created a wonderful care package for you! Please find two bottles of Recioto della Valpolicella wine, a box of handpicked chocolates and sweets, a dozen heart-shaped biscotti and torta tre monti, a clay face mask, and two bath bombs. I may have stuffed some other little things in the basket before I wrapped it up, so whatever else you find should be considered a wonderful surprise! Unless you were the recipient who ended up with my house keys, then I will need those back.
Even though this is supposed to be a day for lovers, I believe with the utmost conviction that the most neglected form of love is self-love… in the words of someone who has inspired millions: “If you can’t love yourself, how in the HELL are you gonna love somebody else?” And in that spirit of practising self-love, I have attached various pictures of myself in the Cupid ensemble I’ve decided to wear for the day. We all have to start somewhere, and I really do think I may love how I look in this, wouldn’t you agree?
Enjoy your day and make the most of what this world has to offer. Love comes from all sides.
Affectionately,
Feliciano ♥
(P.S. if my arrows have caused any property damage and/or you were unlucky enough to have been shot by my untrained archers, please fill out the paperwork at the bottom of the basket and submit your claim to my email.)
Fannar isn't proud of the noise he just made, although given the circumstances - and everyone around them stopping and staring, too - he thinks it's fairly justified. The strange individual is speeding off before anyone really gets a chance to say anything, and then they all stand there looking at each other for a second. Finally, Fannar steps in and carefully dislodges the arrow from the wall, and reads the card.
He can feel the red creeping up from his neck, as well as everyone staring at him. "It's for me," He says, very bashfully, to everyone around. He then promptly covers his face with one hand, and - sensing his embarrassment - everyone laughs and disperses, some patting him on the shoulder as they go. Yes, that will be a story for them to share, he's sure: The embodiment of their country getting a literal arrow shot into his building, for Valentine's.
The blush hasn't dissipated from his cheeks even as he's taken everything up to his flat (after sheepishly poking at the hole left in the wall), and laid it out on his kitchen table. He has a good laugh at the letter, and then looks through the gifts. How can he ever repay something like this??
[SMS: Feliciano] I received your gift today. How can I make this up to you? It's so much! Thank you, so so much. I promise, the next time you visit, we can go for dinner or something. Thank you again!!
If his blush has started to dissipate, well, peeking at the pictures of Feliciano has him hiding his face in both hands in the hope that his cool hands might help assuage the heat of his face. Fuck.

About Tedeschi
The Tedeschi Family wine business can trace their roots back to 1824 when Nicolo Tedeschi purchased several vineyards (although the family have records of owning vineyards back to 1630). A descendant, Riccardo Tedeschi, purchased vineyards in 1918 which included Monte Fontana and their famous Amarone vineyard, Monte Olmi. Today Tedeschi remains a family business and, through a combination of tradition and innovation, is one of the foremost wineries, and one of the top producers of Amarone and Recioto wines, in the Veneto region. The family manages 74 hectares of vineyards, of which 29 are family owned. Amarone della Valpolicella is considered to be the most prestigious wine of the Veneto region.

Three Bruichladdich: 13 Year (1993) Recioto Finish, Elements of Islay Br6, and 14 Year Links Series Carnoustie
Review by: ZoidbergOnTheRocks At long last I am at the end of my box of embarrassingly neglected Bruichladdich samples!! I thought I’d never get through them all. I guess it’s time to start swapping again! Here are the last three, and it’s a random grab bag of expressions that didn’t fit in with the other groups. Tasted on 3/19/2021, neat in a Glencairn. The History of Amarone della Valpolicella: Legacy and Tradition. Featuring Cantina Benedetti as one of the Finest Producers of Amarone
Tumblr media
In the vast panorama of Italian wines, Amarone della Valpolicella stands out as a true masterpiece, encapsulating centuries of winemaking traditions and embodying the passion and dedication of generations. This article delves into the fascinating history of Amarone, exploring its origins, winemaking process, and the esteemed Cantina Benedetti, recognized as one of the premier producers of this iconic wine.
The Origins of Amarone della Valpolicella: Amarone della Valpolicella finds its roots in the stunning Valpolicella region of Veneto, Italy. The area's winemaking history dates back to ancient times, with evidence of vine cultivation during the Roman era. However, it was not until the late 18th century that Amarone, as we know it today, began to take shape.
The Winemaking Process: The unique character of Amarone lies in the winemaking technique employed to produce it. The grapes used for Amarone, primarily Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara, are harvested late in the season when they have reached optimal ripeness. The grapes are then carefully selected and left to dry on racks or straw mats for several months, a process known as appassimento. This drying concentrates the sugars and flavors, resulting in rich, complex wines.
The Transformation of Recioto into Amarone: The story of Amarone is intertwined with that of Recioto, a sweet wine also hailing from Valpolicella. Historically, Recioto was the region's most revered wine until a fortuitous winemaking mishap in the mid-20th century. A batch of Recioto was accidentally left to ferment completely, yielding a dry, powerful wine. This serendipitous discovery led to the birth of Amarone, which quickly gained popularity for its boldness and depth.
Amarone's Rise to Prominence: In the second half of the 20th century, Amarone della Valpolicella began to garner international acclaim. Its unique winemaking process and exceptional quality captivated wine enthusiasts worldwide. This newfound recognition prompted a surge in demand, leading many wineries, including Cantina Benedetti, to focus on producing Amarone as their flagship wine.
Cantina Benedetti: Crafting Excellence in Amarone: Among the esteemed producers of Amarone, Cantina Benedetti stands out for its unwavering commitment to quality and traditional winemaking techniques. Located in the heart of Valpolicella, this family-owned winery has been producing outstanding wines for generations.
The Benedetti family's dedication to their craft is evident from the moment the grapes are harvested. Only the finest grapes are selected, ensuring that each bottle of Amarone reflects the distinct terroir of the Valpolicella region. The appassimento process at Cantina Benedetti is meticulously managed, with precise control over temperature and humidity, resulting in grapes that are perfectly dried and ready for fermentation.
The fermentation and aging of Amarone at Cantina Benedetti occur in large oak casks and barriques, where the wine develops its remarkable complexity and elegant structure. The winery's skilled winemakers carefully monitor the process, allowing the wine to mature gracefully over an extended period.
Cantina Benedetti's Amarone offerings exemplify the wine's signature characteristics: deep ruby hues, intense aromas of dark fruit, chocolate, and spices, and a rich, velvety palate. Each sip reveals the meticulous craftsmanship and passion poured into every bottle.
Preserving Tradition in an Evolving Wine Landscape: While Amarone della Valpolicella has seen immense growth and popularity, maintaining its authenticity and connection to tradition is crucial. Cantina Benedetti recognizes this responsibility and remains committed to preserving the time-honored winemaking practices that have defined Amarone for centuries.
Conclusion: The history of Amarone della Valpolicella is one of perseverance, innovation, and unwavering dedication to producing exceptional wines. From its humble beginnings to its rise to international acclaim, Amarone continues to captivate wine enthusiasts with its remarkable depth and complexity. Cantina Benedetti, with its commitment to traditional winemaking methods, stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Amarone, ensuring that future generations will be able to savor the magic of this extraordinary wine.

Costolette di camoscio alla Grappa
Costolette di camoscio alla Grappa
Tumblr media
