so… I always imagine a whump scenario every night when I’m in my bed, where my most favorite blorbo is the whumpee and my other blorbo is the caretaker (hospital/medical whump being my favorite, where the whumpee is being taken care of after a highly traumatic event), it’s always been like this ever since I was at a very young age and it hasn’t changed (except the whumpee and the caretaker, depends on who my current blorbos/comfort characters are). I know a lot of people in the whump community do this too.

but thing is… if the scenario in my head gets intense enough / if I’m able to get my mind to be very emotionally invested in that scenario I create, sometimes I actually cry imagining myself in the whumpee’s shoes. no, I’m not “sad” and I’m not “scared” and it’s not because I feel super bad for the whumpee. it’s that I am that emotionally invested that tears just reflexively fall down. I’m not outright loudly sobbing, but yeah, sometimes there are tears involved. and I never see it as a bad or a concerning thing regarding my mental health, because every time I make myself cry creating a whump scenario in my head, I always get this sense of euphoria afterwards, and it actually helps me sleep better.

I don’t know if this is “normal” or if it also happens to other people within the whump community? so I guess I’m going to make a poll about the matter.

I always thought E rated fics were about anything that is, well, explicit; meaning they didn’t always have to be sexual? but like I’ve seen some people claim E rated fics are for smut only, and no matter how violent/gory your work is, if it’s not smut then it should only be rated Mature instead of Explicit?

what are your thoughts here?
