He’s not only the king of games but also the king of comforting his loved ones

Yugi is very perceptive of others feelings especially your own. When he realizes you’re sad, he immediately tries to comfort you.

He will be by your side and ask what has happened

He will do everything in his power to comfort you. Be it words of affirmation or genuine care. He’s very loving and will be extra fragile towards you when you’re sad

As you cry he holds you. If you don’t like being touched when you’re upset then he gives you space

He will give you his jacket and hold your hand as he speaks gently to you.

Yami

what I love most about this former pharaoh is how he handles people’s feelings with grace. This is ten fold for his significant other

When you cry he dries your tears with his sleeves of his jacket and cups your face so you look into his caring yet piercing red eyes

His positivity knows no bounds and he’s quick to cheer you up even when you’re crying

He’s a sweet boyfriend with a way with words. Even when you’re crying

Duke lends his shoulder to cry on and picks you up in his arms so you can sit on his lap while you cry

Kaiba is quick to demand who hurt you. His eyes turn cold at the very thought of someone daring to hurt his beloved

He orders someone to buy you your favorite treat, stat then returns his attention to you

He uses his handkerchief or tie to wipe away your tears gently

His demeanor is so soft with you as he listens to what you have to say

He’s comforting but very gentle In his words. His advice is always top notch as is his problem solving. He will do everything in his power to make it right

Mai Valentine

Mai certainly shows tough love but only when it’s necessary. Her love for you is very well shown. She’ll be so worried when she see’s her baby darling crying

She’s quick to baby you and immediately figure out what could be wrong

She might be quick to look for anyone who could’ve possibly hurt you. She’s much like her harpy duel monsters. She’ll gladly sink her claws on anyone who gets on her bad side.

: ̗̀➛ Yugi had never seen you around before. You didn’t go to his university and when he was in school, he hadn’t seen you there either. Nevertheless, his mouth became dry and his face flushed the second you walked through the door. 

: ̗̀➛ You explained to Yugi your situation. The tri-colour haired male had offered you help to create a formidable deck. He picked out all sorts of monster, spells and trap cards. 

: ̗̀➛ “Thank you so much Mr….” You trailed off, realising you hadn’t gotten his name. 

: ̗̀➛ “Moto. Yugi Moto,” he said proudly. 

: ̗̀➛ You went pale. THE King Of Games?! 

: ̗̀➛ Yugi couldn’t help but feel his heart beat faster as your lips curved up to offer him a shy smile. 

: ̗̀➛ “What’s your name?” He asked, wanting to keep you there for a few minutes longer. 

: ̗̀➛ “Y/N,” you replied. 

: ̗̀➛ “It’s nice to meet you Y/N,” Yugi smiled and offered out his hand for you to shake. 

: ̗̀➛ From that day on, Yugi was seeing you everywhere. It was like he couldn’t escape you both in his mind and in reality. 

: ̗̀➛ He told his friends about you, the beautiful woman that had come into his Grandfather’s shop in search of the perfect deck. Of course Yugi’s friends continuously encouraged him to ask you out the next time he saw you. 

: ̗̀➛ Yugi was unsure of what to do. He wanted to ask you out, he really did, but he was afraid of rejection. 

: ̗̀➛ The next time Yugi saw you was, once again, in his Grandfather’s Game Shop. 

: ̗̀➛ You walked in in a huff, looking distressed. Yugi became immediately worried upon seeing your distressed expression. “Y/N… What’s wrong?” He asked as he made his way to the front of the counter. 

: ̗̀➛ “I can’t play this stupid game!” You groaned, throwing your cards on the floor in a pile. 

: ̗̀➛ Yugi was slightly taken back by your… tantrum. 

: ̗̀➛ “You can. Everyone can. The trick is to believe in the heart of the cards!” Yugi replied. 

: ̗̀➛ “The heart of the what?” You asked, crinkling your nose up in confusion. 

: ̗̀➛ “The heart of the cards!” Yugi said, pausing before continuing. “As long as you believe in your cards, and have faith in them, you can never truly lose.” 

: ̗̀➛ You stared at Yugi as if he had three heads. You watched as he slowly bent down and scooped up your cards into a neat little pile, passing them to you with a gentle smile on his face. 

: ̗̀➛ “I can teach you,” Yugi offered. 

: ̗̀➛ You were shocked. 

: ̗̀➛ “You? The King Of Games? Teach me? A nobody?” 

: ̗̀➛ You couldn’t help but laugh slightly out of surprise, but when you looked at Yugi and saw a serious expression on his face, you halted the laughter immediately. 

: ̗̀➛ “I guess it couldn’t hurt…” You mumbled, shuffling your feet on the floor. 

: ̗̀➛ “Great. We’ll start tomorrow.” 

: ̗̀➛ The next day, at noon, you met Yugi at the Game Shop. He started by teaching you the basics of the game, what sorts of monsters did what, what spells and traps did what etc etc. You were listening intently, making mental note of all the things Yugi was saying to you. From that day on, the two of you became inseparable. 

: ̗̀➛ The next few weeks flew by so quickly, it was as if you had just blinked. With Yugi’s teachings you were becoming increasingly better at the game of Duel Monsters. By no means were you an expert, but you were getting better. 

: ̗̀➛ “That was a great game! Well done!” Yugi encouraged. He felt his breath hitch in his throat as you offered him a warm smile in return. 

: ̗̀➛ You see, over the last few weeks, Yugi had developed feelings for you and more than just the initial crush he had on you when you had first walked into the Game Shop. He was falling in love with you. You had gotten to learn all about him and in turn, he had gotten to learn all about you.

: ̗̀➛ His friends words constantly echoed in his head: “ask her out Yug’! What’s the worst that could happen?” So, Yugi took the plunge. 

: ̗̀➛ “Say Y/N…” he said, watching as you placed your deck of cards in your pocket and hand him the duel disk he so kindly lent you. You looked at him and tilted your head to the side as if to say ‘yes’. “Would you… Maybe… Like to accompany me to dinner? Tonight?” 

: ̗̀➛ You were surprised to say the least but didn’t think of it as anything more than a friendly dinner. “Sure,” you smiled.  

: ̗̀➛ Yugi was shocked at your willingness to have dinner with him, but tried to keep it cool. He watched as you left the Game Shop and immediately began preparing for the evening. He booked a reservation at his favourite restaurant and dressed up all fancy for you. 

: ̗̀➛ When you turned up at the Game Shop at 7pm, like you had agreed, Yugi was breath taken by your appearance. He always thought you were beautiful but there was something about tonight… He couldn’t put his finger on it, you looked even more stunning than usual. 

: ̗̀➛ When you arrived at the restaurant, Yugi immediately found a candle-lit table in the corner of the room and led you to it, pulling out the chair from the table and offering you a seat. 

: ̗̀➛ You blushed as he did this, a gesture you had never had from anybody before.

: ̗̀➛ Throughout the night, he ordered you some of his favourite foods and you just talked about anything and everything. You learnt even more about him, about how he got so good at card games, his family life… everything. 

: ̗̀➛ Yugi found himself falling further and further in love with you as the night went on. 

: ̗̀➛ Eventually, the two of you left the restaurant and Yugi walked you home. 

: ̗̀➛ When you reached your home, Yugi took your hand in his. “I had fun with you tonight,” he stuttered. “We should do it again.” 

: ̗̀➛ You grinned, your heart fluttering against your chest at the thought of dining with him again. You nodded excitedly. 

: ̗̀➛ “Can I… Can I kiss you?” He asked. His eyes widened as soon as the words left his lips, but before he could take it back you pressed your lips to his firmly. 

: ̗̀➛ Immediately, Yugi closed his eyes, letting himself fall further into the moment. His hands rubbed your forearms comfortingly and you hummed into the kiss. 

: ̗̀➛ When you pulled away, you looked into Yugi’s eyes and bit your lip. “I liked that,” you smiled. 

: ̗̀➛ He laughed. “I liked that too.” 

: ̗̀➛ You said goodnight and walked into your home with a racing heart and red face. 

: ̗̀➛ The next few weeks were filled with dates and surprises from Yugi but your Duel Monsters training never stopped. In fact, he seemingly pushed you harder, but this time would give you kisses as rewards. 

: ̗̀➛ Yugi introduces you to his friends a week after your first date. His heart is just so full of love that he has to introduce you to the people he cares about the most in the world.

Both you and Joey Wheeler have been in a relationship for about a year. While both you and Joey have alot in common, especially dueling. The thing is that Joey has a poor background while you're a wealthy influencer.

A year ago, the first time Joey met you, he admitted about being a huge fan of yours because of (the wealthy influencer career of reader's choice). You felt admired by it. You also became flattered when he ask you out, which you told him yes, then you and Joey exchanged phone numbers with eachother.

One year later, not much has changed, except the fact his feelings of insecurity grew. It's not about another person he's worried about taking you away or anything like that. You always wanted to take care of Joey, especially in a financial way, and even if he doesn't need financial help, you always spoil him with stuff, especially when he's not expecting you to. While he appreciates you doing things for him especially his needs and spoiling him without expecting it, at the same time, as time went he keeps feeling like he's take advantage of you, even tough he hasn't asked much from you.

One day, you noticed he was feeling down, so you decided to surprise him by bringing him to an expensive japanese buffet, since it has plenty of food that he likes, you thought. Once you brought him there as his surprise, he still feels down, while trying to hide it from you, as he pretended that everything is going fine for him. You basically know better, despite of not being aware of his insecurity.

After you and Joey went in the expensive japanese buffet, you and Joey ordered drinks (japanese sodas). As you were about to pay the cashier prior to getting yourself and Joey started to eat, he rushed to pay for both your buffet meal and his buffet meal to risk spending most of his money he has left (if not all of the money he had left). You're happy for him that he did pay for both buffet meals and all, however you're confused and concerned about his behavior as well. So, he decided to wait on himself and you to get the buffet food to have you sit down to wait for him. You then thought up ways to have a serious talk with him.

After Joey brought your food and his food to the table you told him, "Hey, Joey. If you don't mind, I think we need to have a talk. Not just about you feeling down, however it's also about you behavior at the register, prior to the waitress finding a table for us.". Joey knew why you did want to have a talk, however he pretended to be okay by agreeing as he replied, "Okay, (Rich Girl Reader Name).". You then explained in concern, "Well you see Joey, I noticed earlier today you were feeling down, so I thought maybe taking you to the expensive japanese buffet would cheer you up, then I noticed that you paid for both our buffets. I mean it was nice of you to do so, however I'm concerned about you, Joey. I'm starting to be scared that you might be ashamed of me for some reason. Please don't act like you don't know anything. I know you're hiding your emotions and I like to you to be honest with me. Are you ashamed of me or not?".

Joey did start to feel worse about himself, knowing what he did made you feel bad about his own behavior. He then replied, "No, no. That's not true all (Rich Girl Reader Name). I just have been ashamed of myself honestly. Tell me, (Rich Girl Reader's Name)? What did you really see in me?". You were shocked about what he told you by asking, "What do you mean Joey? Are you implying that I only said yes to being in the relationship with you out of pity due to me being wealthy and you're not?". He replied honestly, "That and I feel like I'm taking advantage of you just from you paying for everything for me, despite me not asking you to. I mean I appreciate everything you did and are doing for me and all. It's just that due to my poor background and you're so wealthy, I just feel like I'm a terrible boyfriend for you for you paying for everything, while I never have been able to buy you anything expensive! I just don't know why you stayed despite this, if you're not pitying me! I also have been worrying about one of us or both of us getting insulted due to you being tons richer than me, and then one of these days people will be convincing us to snub eachother, because of this. Why did you never leave me, despite of knowing my poor background, if pitying me isn't the case?!".

You then realized the real reason why he was feeling down, then you went on his side of the table to hug him, as you told him, "I'm sorry you've been feeling insecure about this. If I would have known that I would have found another way to cheer you up and tell you that I still love you and I took you in and stayed by your side, because I find you cute, funny, kind hearted, and all of these amazing qualities you have. I promise, I'm not going out with you out of pitying you over me being more wealthy than you. I'm going out with you, because you're better than all the other guys I met. All other guys did was use me for their own personal gain and (anything else to the reader's imagination). You're different Joey. I told my parents about you and they're convinced that you're using me for my money, and I told them similar as what I'm telling you. You're not taking advantage of me, because you didn't twist my arm (metaphorically), for me to get you anything or even help you, Joey! And you're not like any of the other men I dated! You're better than them, because to me riches don't matter to me! All that matters is that we love eachother, because of I can't marry you or even have you, then I refuse to marry anyone else nor even be with anyone else! I love you for who you are! Not for what we can do for eachother nor out of pity!," you then kissed his forehead. He blushed, then happy tears came down as he said, 'I love you for who you are too, (Rich Girl Reader Name) and with all my heart.". as he hugged you, then proceeded to kiss your forehead back. Both you and Joey Wheeler, then actually started eating together afterwards.

After your date night at the expensive japanese buffet with Joey Wheeler and talking things out with him , your relationship with him has grown stronger for it. Even to the point where he is no longer insecure based on the "wealthy and poor background" relationship. His life (with you), has been much better eversince then.

Summary: You and Joey Wheeler eat dinner together in Shinjuku ward. Set post DSOD. Fun fact: I always write my Reader character based off of myself or someone I know. This means she may not be as generic as is customary for this type of story. Each reader also has a specific place in the Yu-Gi-Oh world, and is basically an OC with set connections and feelings about the various canon characters and other reader characters. This is reader V, who is dating Joey Wheeler and acting as his manager. She is a bit anxious. Word count: 1879 “How about dis place?” asked Joey, looking at the detailed plastic food in the picture window of a restaurant. You were looking at the signage with your smartphone, trying to translate. “Okay, so these are tonkatsu, and these are curry, and they also serve something called ‘shabu shabu?’” “I thought your phone was gonna translate for ya?” Joey still used a flip phone, so he liked to find instances when your smartphone failed to do what you wanted it to.

“It did for the other foods,” You stepped closer to your boyfriend, brushing up against him. Behind you, people continued to walk past on the sidewalk. Despite being after nine at night, the Shinjuku ward of Tokyo still bustled with people. “I know what curry is, da other two...” “Tonkatsu is the breaded pork with cabbage,” you pointed at the plates, “but I don’t know what shabu shabu is. This sign talks about it, but there’s not a display version.” Shoving your phone in your pocket, you joined Joey in studying the fake food. “I know my mom recommended we try tonkatsu.”

“Your mom’s a great cook, so if she says it’ll be good, den we gotta try it.” Joey reached for the door, “Ya down?” “Sure!” You figured there wasn’t much chance of disliking breaded pork. Inside, abundant wooden paneling gave the place an old-fashioned Japanese feel. Each of the tables had a dark glass cooktop built into the center. Seeing your arrival, the man behind the register said something in Japanese. Joey held up two fingers, and the man nodded, stepping away from the counter to point the two of you to a table tucked in a corner. You sat in the chair, and Joey slid onto the bench across from you, grabbing the tablet from its holder at the end of the table. “Dis should make things easier.” Slightly jealous Joey had beaten you to the electric menu and ordering device, you pulled out your phone again and grabbed the Japanese menu. Why was the restaurant so cold? Glancing up, you saw you were directly underneath an air conditioning vent. “Could we switch places?” You gestured at the vent.

Joey grinned. “Leave it ta me ta date da coldest girl in Domino.” He was already sliding off the padded bench as he finished. After switching places, you both fell silent, each studying the menu. Choosing a meal set with tonkatsu, cabbage, rice and miso soup, you waited for Joey to make up his mind about what he wanted. Beside the docking station for the tablet was a brown, ceramic kettle-ish container with a Japanese label taped onto the lid. Translating it, you discovered it held tonkatsu sauce—information you passed on to Joey but had no intention of using yourself, you never put sauce on your food. The man who greeted you at the door returned to the table bearing two glasses of water, small white towels, and chopsticks for each of you. “I guess dese are da napkins?” Asked Joey after the man left. You shrugged, “I guess. Now focus on what you want to order.” “It all looks so good, y/n.” After Joey finally decided to get a combination curry and tonkatsu meal, he input your order into the tablet. A group of five or six people who looked to be about your age entered the restaurant, happily chatting among themselves as they were seated at the larger table beside yours. It soon became apparent they had ordered the mysterious shabu shabu, which turned out to be some sort of meat and vegetable hot pot dish which was cooked right at the table. It looked fun. Although the meat and broth smelled delicious, you felt little interest in eating that many vegetables, and the extremely long, skinny, mushrooms were right out. Joey couldn’t take his eyes off the food at the next table, which made sense since neither of you had eaten since the morning.

You reached out and placed your hand over his, trying to enjoy the moment instead of focusing on the fact your food hadn’t arrived yet. It kinda worked.

Ripping his gaze back to his date, Joey smiled at you sheepishly. “If some of those K-Pop shops are still open when we’re finished here, ya wanna check one out?”

You felt torn, while you were here in the Korean section of Tokyo, you did want to pick up a few pictures of your favorite idol, but doing it with your boyfriend felt like a weird idea. Before you could respond, the employee who had greeted you when you entered approached with your food. For a moment, neither of you thought about anything other than eating. Nervously, you picked up your chopsticks, afraid you would mess up and embarrass yourself in front of Joey. Focusing on your tonkatsu, you noticed the breading was different from what you expected. Instead of breadcrumbs, these were more like bread-shards—long and thin, which gave the surface a rough, almost spiked, texture. Raising one of the tonkatsu strips with your chopsticks, you took a bite. The breading was crispy. The pork was tender. Delicious.

For the moment, your nerves settled, and you settled into your meal. After a few moments of silent focus on food, you began to get curious about Joey’s dinner. “Could I try a bite of your curry?”

Joey looked up with puppy dog eyes, “You’d ask for part of a man’s dinner?”

“Only if I want to try it.” you gazed back with your own innocent, wide-eyed stare.

Joey’s face broke into a grin, “Yeah, dat checks out.” He licked his metal spoon clean, wiped it with a napkin, refilled it with curry and rice, and extended the handle to you.

“Thanks,” you grinned and took the spoon. Popping the curry into your mouth, you immediately regretted it. It looked like a kind of beef stew, so why was it spicy?? You almost spit it out, but that seemed gross to do in front of your boyfriend, so you gulped it down instead. “You know I don’t like spicy food, Joey!” You grabbed your small glass of water.

Joey was still grinning at you, “You were da one who asked for it. Who am I ta fight paying da girlfriend tax?”

“Okay, okay, maybe I’m slightly at fault here. But my pain and suffering is mostly your fault.” You grinned back, taking another gulp. “Can you order more water?”

Joey fussed with the tablet for a minute, “Ehh, not with dis thing.”

“That’s okay, I’ll just drink yours.”

“Dat’s fair.” Joey slid his glass towards you. “But ya shoulda known dat curry is spicy.”

“I knew some curry is spicy, and I thought you’d tell me if yours was too much for me.” You fake huffed at him.

“Sorry.” Joey was eyeing your side dishes of rice and miso soup hungrily. “How ‘bout ya let me make it up to ya?”

“By eating my food?”

“What? Oh.” He looked you in the eyes, “I got ya a little gift.”

Your eyes crinkled into a surprised smile, “You got me a present?”

“It’s not much, and I’m not sure you’re gonna like it,” he pulled his hands into his lap, “and I was gonna give it to ya tomorrow before my TV interview, but den I thought I could give it to ya now instead…”

You leaned in, “Sure! Let me see it.” You knew he had bought a couple things at one of the stores the two of you went into earlier, but never imagined he had bought anything for you.

Pulling his hands out from underneath the table, he handed you a beautifully wrapped gift box. It was light and rectangular. “The lady at da store did a great job makin’ it look pretty when I told her it was a present.”

Overwhelmed with curiosity, you tore off the paper, revealing a clear plastic box with a large white bow inside it. It was similar to your favorite hair bow, except this one had a blue, horned sheep in the center of the bow. “Aw, it’s one of the Scapegoats.” Scapegoat was one of Joey’s rarest cards, and your favorite part of his deck.

“I know ya don’t like Duel Monsters all dat much, so if ya don’t like it, I understand. But since you’re my manager, I thought it would be cute if ya had something’ with one of my cards on it.”

Joey was irresistibly endearing when he got flustered like this. You reached out and took his hands. “There are a lot of monsters from the game I would never wear, but this little guy is adorable. And you’re right, as your manager I should wear something related to your deck; it’s good for branding.”

“Ya don’t have ta like it, y/n. If ya don’t want ta wear it den—”

“Sorry, Joey, I was messing with you.” You squeezed his hands, “I don’t just like it because it’s good for your brand. I think it’s cute, and it reminds me of you, and it even shows you remembered what I like. Thank you.”

“Yep. I’ll wear it tomorrow.” You nodded at him in approval before pulling your hands away and resuming eating.

When you both finished, Joey took the receipt left with the food to the register, where he paid in cash, pocketing the handful of coins he received in return. As the two of you stepped out into the warm summer night, you slipped your hand into his. Tonight would be fun, with K-pop shopping and trying out a capsule hotel. It was easy to set aside your worries when you were with Joey.
