A/N: I named Rook's siblings after the pieces of a chess-game as a headcanon! (btw they’re french names)

🧁 You stood beside him outside of Heartslabyul as he put his phone away, he had read a message from his father saying they had just arrived and were coming to his dorm

🧁 Gripping his hand tightly, your smile made him sigh and kiss the hand holding his with such care and devotion. You really were perfect. How could they not like you?

🧁 As he spoke to his parents as you played with his younger siblings, his sister smiling as you gave her a small rose-spun flower crown as his brother messed around with a little set of toy vehicles you had gotten for Grim to mess with while Yuu busied himself

" I must admit, Trey. I’m surprised how amazing your S/O is handling those two. " " I agree with your mother. They seem so… content with them around. Unlike their last babysitter. I’ve never seen someone so happy to leave. "

🧁 Trey stared at you with his parents and smiled gently, he even had to admit, it was surprising how good you were holding them together. Normally the person watching them would be on the couch rethinking their life-choices, but not you…

🧁 And before his family left after the two days of vacation with their son, hearing his siblings ramble about how amazing you were as they held tiny gifts you had made them, he knew you were the one

🧁 He can’t wait to see your reaction after graduation day

🐺 He really wanted you to meet his family. To a beastman of his kind, family is everything. They raised you and gave you a chance at life for crying out loud!

🐺 His family and his are very close, and that is shown multiple times throughout your relationship. The way he would smile gently when looking at the photos on his camera roll that contained his grandparents, parents, and younger siblings made your heart swoon

🐺 Because of how close he was with you and how close he was with his family, he was very happy when the ‘Family Day’ was announced to happen

🐺 He immediately had sent an email to his parents with the note that he wanted them to meet you, who was his new S/O, and hopefully his only one

🐺 When they had arrived, their tails all wagged as they hugged, you just smiled as your family walked away to speak to another one of your close friend’s parents, who were visiting him for the next few days to help with P.E. classes while Vargas was away

🐺 His siblings had gotten bored and pulled you away from their older family members, asking you if you had anything fun to do, much to your enjoyment

" Y/N! Lookie what I made! It’s a drawing of you, grandma, grandpa, papa, mama, and big brother! " " Oh, that looks so cute, sweetie. "

🐺 Jack smiled as you gently held the drawings that his younger sister and brother made of you and his family, and once his mother and grandmother caught a glace, they couldn’t stop complimenting how good you looked alongside their son, much to his embarrassment

" You know, your son did a good job picking an S/O. " " I know. Honestly, I figured he’d go for a meat-head. Oh, how wrong was I? "

🐺 His tail wagged slightly as he overheard his grandfather and father speaking to one another, they really liked you? Now he knew for certain that you were a keeper

🐍 Jamil did not want to deal with his sister coming to Night Raven College, since she was known to be quite hard for him to handle, especially with Kalim there

🐍 When his sister did shoot him a text saying that she was just a couple minutes from school grounds and was planning on coming over after the day was over to see her brother, he groaned and asked her not too

🐍 Unfortunately, she was very stubborn, much like her brother. Not that he admits it

🐍 She did send him a small message saying that she wanted to meet his supposed S/O as well, but he had gotten busy keeping Kalim from jumping from his balcony and onto his magic carpet, so he had no chance to actually read the message

" Y/N! It’s so good to finally meet you. Let me just say my brother doesn’t stop talking about you over summer, it’s gotten annoying. "

🐍 Jamil watched with wide eyes and flushed cheeks as his sister and Kalim began discussing how much Jamil talked about you after your first year’s summer, revealing just how much he admired you back then until current day

" Okay! Let’s not keep this going, it seems that Jamil is flustered~ " " Shut up… "

🐍 Najma smiled and pat her brother’s shoulder with a laugh as she grabbed your hand and dragged you around Scarabia as Jamil followed you, her, and Kalim

🐍 He watched as you would smile and try keeping the two energetic people calmer than usual, thank goodness you had just as much patience as him when it comes to this kind of thing

" My older brother always raves about your eyes, saying they looked like the night and day’s sky, comparing the sun to the sparkles your eyes contain. He’s so cheesy! " " Right? I heard him talk about their selflessness with so much happiness that I thought he was another person! " " Alrighty then! Let’s calm ourselves, I don’t want Jamil erupting like a volcano… " " Aw! They care so much about you, brother! How sweet. "

🐍 The blush on his cheeks erupted at how calm you acted with him, you cared about him that much? Normally whoever discusses with his sister just agree that he’s an oddball

🐍 You really are an amazing person, huh?

🏹 Rook adores his siblings, both older and younger, very much

🏹 They are fairly similar to him when it comes to personalities, but they are quite different in their own unique ways, his oldest sibling, Leroy (King), for example loves to take photos instead of watch for a while like Rook

🏹 When he received a letter from one of his oldest younger sibling, Chevalier (Knight), saying that they were going to come by and visit him, he smiled and told you immediately, asking if you would care to meet his family

🏹 You just smiled and nodded at his enthusiasm, you knew he cared for his siblings and you very much, so you understood why he wanted you guys to meet badly

🏹 Hugging you from behind as he pressed his hat on your head to protect you from the sun’s strong rays, Rook’s signature smile seemingly was twice as large as he awaited the arrival of his multiple family members

" Rook! "

🏹 Turning around from the bench, Rook laughed with a booming sound as his three younger siblings, Chevalier, Évêque (Bishop), and Pionne (Pawn), jumped into his arms as his older ones, Leroy and Reine (Queen), stood and chuckled

🏹 Reine looked at you and pushed her hair behind her ear as he embraced you. This didn't surprise you, you predicted that all of the Hunt siblings were very affectionate and bold with their actions

" It is a delight to meet you, Y/N! Our brother sends us letters about you constantly! I must admit, it’s sweet to read how kind you are with our unique brother. "

🏹 Hearing that made your heart swoon as Rook nodded and smiled sweetly at his younger siblings, patting their heads as they showed him photos of things they had either caught or had made during the past few days

🏹 He is unique like they say, but he’s your kind of unique, and you wouldn’t change him for the world… despite Grim’s many protests while Yuu holds him back…

Something I’ve noticed across collecting different cards is that Twisted Wonderland seems to have a bit of a skew in which characters get character x player ship bait. Between events and card lines, some characters look like they are getting neglected in the ship teasing category. Is there some kind of popularity bias behind this? Like maximizing profit or game popularity by targeting certain groups of fans among the fandom?

Mmm… I haven’t noticed a skew, personally. If there is one at all, I’d wager it isn’t significant and it’ll probably depend a lot on what point in time you’re evaluating at. Since TWST is consistently releasing new content, the voice lines are sure to “even out” eventually if given enough of a waiting period. For example, you could say that the GloMasq boys have “more” bait lines… until Playful Land boys were released the year after, thus leveling the playing field.

All cards have character x player ship bait to some degree. Most of them will have at least 1-2 lines which involves complimenting you/your look (and if not in the card lines, then directly in the event, especially when Yuu has changed into a new outfit), Yuu touching them in some way (or being invited to), or asking Yuu to hang out or to do an activity with them. Everyone gets these lines because there are fans of every character that have spending power; it doesn't make sense to intentionally devote more lines to one while leaving the others starving for content when there are big spenders for all characters (which will vary widely anyway depending on the server too, so there are very few consistent "favorites"). Devoting time and energy to every character is what makes the most profit in the long run, as you risk losing the fans (and money) of "less popular" characters if they don't get new food too. It doesn’t matter that the high spenders for like… Azul stay because they’d still be losing the revenue coming in from Jack stans who dropped the game due to content drought.

I would say that what is and is not categorized as a "shipping bait" line depends a lot on other factors, the strongest of them all being individual perception. For example, if you ship yourself/your Yuusona with the character, you may be more likely to perceive any line spoken by your favorites as "more romantic" than other characters. This feeds into your preexisting expectations, and is therefore a form of confirmation bias. Meanwhile, if you ship two canon characters with one another, there are many more potential combinations so it's less likely that the particular ship you're into will get "bait". Additionally, some people are more liberal with what they perceive to be romantic or not. For example, Ace inviting you out to do something can be seen as both platonic or romantic, based on who is judging the line because there isn’t anything inherently romantic in spending time together. This is also the case in the main story or events; some players see Yuu giving Malleus the VDC/SDC ticket in book 5 as "a date" while others do not. This brings me to another point: character relationships within the main story and their personalities will also have a drastic impact on what is perceived as romantic or not. Rook, for example, speaks in a very flowery manner. Because of this, a majority of his lines could be seen as "bait". Characters that are gruffer (Jack) or "loner" types (Idia) would naturally have fewer inviting lines due to their characters. And again, with Ace, since he is presented as one of Yuu's closest friends in the main story, it's easy to perceive him as a platonic bestie when reading his lines since your friendship is already established.

Lastly, I think it's worthwhile to consider that there are also nuances that are lost in translation between JP and EN, which may alter which lines are seen as "bait" and which aren't. A really popular one I see floating around is Malleus's vignette level up line, which is translated in EN as "You aren’t afraid of me. But I’m starting to become afraid… of losing you.” Many fans perceive this as romantic and often joke that “Malleus missed the meeting about TWST not being a dating sim!” However, this line has a different context in JP which reads as more platonic.

The original Japanese line is お前は僕を恐れない。そんなお前を失うことが僕は恐ろしくなり始めている。This roughly has the same meaning, but the wording Malleus uses seems to specify that he is afraid of losing the Yuu that is not afraid of him. EN omits the そんな (son na) part, which would refer to a type or kind of person (as in, “son na hito”). In this case, Malleus is afraid of losing “the kind of Yuu that is not afraid of him”. So really, the original meaning of the line is that he is expressing a fear of what would happen if his true identity comes to light (as Yuu is the one person who doesn’t know), not that he is afraid of losing Yuu as a whole.

To summarize: it’s up to individual perception and, given enough time, every boy will get their fair share of fanservice for the player.

Vil Schoenheit

A famous celebrity! He grew up in NRV when he was a child but moved with his father to the city after his dad hit it big. Has been an actor since young.

Moved back to NRV when he was older for peace and to escape paparazzi but is gone for the entire spring season every year for film shoots. He often expresses his dislike for being typecast as a villain.

He often helps promote some of the local farmers on Magicam if they impress him.

Seems to have taken a local farm boy named Epel under his wing as he sees potential in him.

He goes for morning runs nearly everyday, sometimes alongside Jack.

Holds film appreciation events with Ortho at the library every Thursday. Sometimes arranges plays for the children in town to act in too!

Good friends with Vil who often fusses over him. He’s also a ultra mega fan of his works as well as Neige’s. (Do not enter his tent; it is filled to the brim with limited edition Vil and Neige merch to the point he had to dig a hole in the ground to make more space).

Helps Trey out with his experiments every Friday and occasionally joins Vil and Ortho in the library for film appreciation.

Often digs in the garbage cans not for food but for information. (Bro has read every letter you’ve received).

Goes down to the mines sometimes to gather iron for his arrows!

Is often found just hanging out with Vil, down in the mines or in the forests hunting or foraging.

He really wants to join the adventurers guild and explore the mines but he can’t get past Rook.

Plays rugby with Leona and Ruggie every sunny Sunday.

Sometimes helps Deuce out while he’s working on his motorcycle (He’s so hype about it).

Is often found around Vil and Rook or in the orchard.

Hello there, hope everyone is doing fine. This is my new story, Weeping Maiden. The first Arc will be in RSA. Hope you all liked seeing Yuu because it was his last appearance until NRC's arc. The story will be with a Female Reader. It's Yandere themed story.

Summary

You were just a tester for your friend's project. On the last days, you go to sleep and wake up in Twisted Wonderland (the game your friend worked on). But instead of waking up in Night Raven College, you found yourself in Royal Sword Academy. At least before Yuu somehow begs for you to come with him.

PROLOGUE part 1

She wasn't really in the mood but it was a good escape. [Name] could hear people talk about it, pitying her and all. The “poor girl”, and “it must have been hard” were endless, she felt bitter. It was hypocritical of them. Acting like you were sorry, saying they hoped he would be found soon, but not even doing anything to help.

Naturally, [Name] isolated herself in games and other things. Everyone gave up on finding him and after unsuccessful pleas on her part, she just shut herself off to not see any of them. To not face the reality of his disappearance and her family breaking apart. How they all demanded that she move on. It was impossible, so she just stayed locked up in her room.

It has been 3 years now, and she is completely a shut-in refusing to even talk to her parents who ended up giving up on trying to get her out. It was one of those days when she got an email from her friend, she wanted to break someone's record on a speedrun. It was a hard level so she fully focused on it. In the end, she failed in her speedrun. [Name] grumbled when she saw the mail. Reading it, she sighed. Right, recently her friend asked her to be a tester for a game project she did with some company, Twisted Wonderland. It was a gig or some way to earn some pocket money. Up until now, she liked the game, it was interesting.

After sending her report for the game, she returned to her ongoing game when she got a text.

"_ I'm sorry

_ For what?

_ for everything

_ why? What do you mean by that?"

No response. Her friend, Hatsuko, was the only friend she stayed in contact with. It was strange as they never talked before his disappearance. She was the only one who tried to help her find some traces. Maybe she gave up on helping her. The deal between them was that she would be paid 40% less than she should but in exchange, Hatsuko would try to help her find him.

[Name] tried to call her but had no success. Her phone wasn't responding. The young girl panicked trying to call her again and again.

A few hours later, she felt tired. Her eyes were red and puffy and she felt like crying. She ended up falling asleep on her bed.

[Name] felt a warm hand on her head. Slowly, a muffled voice could be heard around her. Opening her eyes slowly, she looked at the old man hovering over her.

“_Where…

_You are in the Royal Sword Academy. We found you unconscious in the main hall.

_uh… who are you?

_I’m Ambrose, the Headmage of this School.”

[Name] looked confused as she talked with the friendly old man. She was confident Royal Sword Academy was the rival school from Twisted Wonderland. The game her friend asked her to test for her. At first, she thought she was dreaming, it has to be it. After a long conversation between them, the kind elderly decided to keep her here until she got home. It was funny how her situation mirrored Yuu, the game's main protagonist. The difference was that she was in the RSA, and that headmaster was a friendly man. He looked more responsible too.

From their chat together, she learned that she was unconscious for three days. Meanwhile, Ambrose researched to know who she was so he could call her parents, but he found nothing, even when he tried to call anyone from her phone contact. [Name] thanked him for his help. At least he was more responsible.

“_So I guess you will stay with us for the time being dear. But as a girl, I can't just let you sleep in a room full of boys.

_Do I have to disguise myself then? I mean, I’m a girl so…

_Oh, dear no. There is no need for that. You will stay in an old dorm.

_I see but…

_You will be here as a temporary student. Don’t worry, we don’t know how this happened but I can’t leave such a young child alone and in the cold. Until then, you will be under this school's responsibility.”

[Name] couldn’t help but feel both anxious and relieved. The old man seemed sincere, and knowing she had a place to stay until then helped her to calm down. The old man walked her to the school after she ate something. She could feel the other students' eyes on her, all of them were curious.

“_Ah Neige. Good, I was looking for you.

_Hello, Headmaster Ambrose. And you are… ah, the girl who appeared in the sacred tree room. Are you okay now?

_Yes, thank you I'm [Name] by the way.

_[Name], Neige will help you around when I’m not around.

_Come to me if you need something.”

It was strange to see them in real life when she used to watch them through a screen. The young girl followed Ambrose after her little tour. The director took her to her future dorm. The difference between here and Ramshackle dorm was too big.

“_It’s a little, I'm sorry but I can’t find anywhere better.

No, no. It's okay.”

Her dorm looked like a mini castle. It was so generous of the old man, that it felt suspicious. But what could she do? He was her only option. Also, the way he looked overjoyed at her presence made her feel kind of guilty. Like she shouldn't be doubting him. [Name] knew he was supposed to be king, but was too kind. They walked into the dorm it was beautiful, with flowers everywhere almost like in a fairy tale. She supposed that it was normal for the big rival of Night Raven College. They were based on the heroes from fairy tales in opposition to the main cast.

“_This is Royaldawn dormitory, it will be your home dear, please take some rest.”

[Name] explored the dorm a little before finally resting in her room. she looked at her locket before closing her eyes and holding the small pendant tightly in her hand.

“_Brother…”

Yuu looked different, so lifeless, it was worrying everyone on the campus of Night Raven College. He was in this state for three days now. He was mumbling and mumbling without even stopping about how he couldn’t feel it anymore. He looked particularly on edge if not ready to jump on anyone he saw. The aura around him changed too, it looked darker, more unhinged too. Yuu were becoming unstable and maybe a little crazy too.

“_Hey Prefect, how are you?

_I can’t find it…”

Ace looked at his friend rummaging in the grass looking for something. He never saw him panic like this before, even in the middle of an Overblot. Ace got on his knee and started to search with him.

“_What are you looking for?

_My necklace, it’s a silver locket.”

The two Heartslabyul students looked everywhere for it. Yuu was shaking as he was slowly breaking down. Tears were trailing down as he frantically searched for the lost locket. The more he couldn’t find it, the more he was frantic.

“_I CAN’T FIND IT, I CAN’T FIND IT, I CAN’T FIND IT, I CAN’T FIND IT, I CAN’T FIND IT!!!

_STOP! YUU!!!”

Their scream got the other students’ attention as they helped the two Heartslabyul pin the magicless prefect down to prevent him from tearing himself down. It looked terrible.

This takes place during the "Glorious Masquerade"event. This can be read as a one shot or even a full length work. Each part connects and can be its own beginning. I hope you all enjoy these.

First up is Epel.

Can I have this dance?

The Noble Bell Lecture Hall was the perfect place to hold a Masquerade. The school was elegant, dignified, decorous; the very place itself looked and felt sacred. All of those things and the antiquity of the school itself pulled the whole event together. It was something out of a fantasy book back at home; a dream. Now, Renmu was living that fantasy as a reality. If it wasn't for the series of unfortunate events that took place just the night before, Renmu would almost wish they could come back again next year.

With those things in mind, Renmu had never been to social gatherings before. What was he supposed to do? Was there a book on things like this? A rule book? A manual or a "How To” guide? Anything? He knew just standing there would make him look silly but then again, he would just look silly if he tried to look like he was doing something. Grim was no help since he was long gone. He went with Ruggie to the buffet table to eat. So much for sticking together. There were so many faces he didn’t recognize that it was driving him crazy. Though it didn't seem like anyone was judging him or staring at him. In fact, many others weren’t even concerned about what to do or what was right and or wrong. So many boys ranging from NRC, RSA, and NBC were mixing in the lecture hall, talking, laughing, and dancing with a familiar face or an acquainted one. They were all putting their differences behind them and associating as equals hand in hand.

Renmu was going to just find somewhere to sit and wait the rest of the night out but someone tapped him on the shoulder. Renmu spun around to realize it was Epel.

“Can I…have this Dance, Renmu?” Epel asked.

Renmu was surprised that Epel was asking him to dance with him, not that there was anything wrong with Epel. He gave Renmu something to talk about since their history of farming was shared. Also, he was a fellow freshman and a friend. Epel was still expecting an answer from Renmu, his hand still being offered for Renmu to take. Renmu had’t realized that he hadn’t answered and was keeping him waiting. Renmu nodded softly, taking the smaller boy's hand. Epel led them to the dance floor, never letting go of the Prefect's hand. It was kind of embarrassing for Renmu. He was kinda glad that his mask concealed his face a bit. Once Epel stopped, he took the lead and began their dance.

It was kinda awkward since their heights made it a bit difficult. Epel was noticeably shorter than the Ramshackle Prefect. They were doing a Foxtrot. In this world, it was called a Houndstep. It was quite simple since there were less spins than a waltz would. The only thing was that Epel had a hard time placing his hands correctly on Renmu’s back and keeping up with his steps. The silence was a bit nerve wracking for Renmu. He looked around them. Everyone was off in their own little worlds to care that Epel was leading their dance and he was the smaller one here. In fact, some did stop to stare but only because they were the talk of the Masquerade right now.

“I-I thought you were going to say no…” Epel finally spoke softly. “You…didn't seem interested.”

Renmu shook his head. “I wasn’t expecting to be asked to dance. Especially from you, Epel.”

“Oh…why is that?” Epel asked dejectedly.

Renmu now registered what he just said and how Epel perceived it. “Iie, Iie, Iie, I didn’t mean it like that. It’s just, you’re not the one to like dancing, especially not in a setting like this.” Renmu explained. “I know Vil-Senpai makes you do things like this, even when you don’t want to.”

“O-Oh, yeah well, Vil said if I was to ask all gentleman-like, then I could have a better chance at getting a dance.” Epel replied.

“Ah, so you asked Vil-Senpai how to me if I wanted to dance?” Renmu asked smugly.

Epel flushed red as the fairest queen's lips. “T-That's not what I meant!” Epel shouted. “Vil drilled basic ballroom manners n’ etiquette into mah noggin’ before I left. I was needin’ some’n to show fer it.”

Renmu laughed. He loved it when Epel reverted back to his country boy self. Sometimes he was hard to follow but he loved to hear it nonetheless.

Epel took a step forward and ended up stepping right on the Prefect’s foot, causing him to stumble into him. Renmu caught him and held him up. Now Epel was really embarrassed. Epel sighed. “Don’t tell Vil about that embarrassing fall…”

Renmu couldn’t help but laugh at his request. “I won’t tell, Epel.”

Epel gave Renmu a soft smile before speaking again. “So,” Epel started as he pulled away from Renmu. “Did you wanna lead now?”

“Oh, you want me to lead?” Renmu asked. “I thought you would prefer to lead our dance since you asked.”

Epel shook his head. “I-I don’t mind if it's you after all. Besides, I think it would be best if I just asked you to take the lead…”

Renmu waited for a moment before offering his hand to Epel which he gladly took. Renmu placed his other hand at the center of the Pomefiore students' back and Eepl put his other hand on the Prefect’s shoulder. Renmu picked up where they left off just moments ago. Epel would have been opposed if anyone was to lead a dance with him. He wanted to be the one in control, the manly one. But when it came to Renmu, he stopped caring for some reason. Maybe it was because it was Renmu. Renmu never judged him for wanting to be manly at his size. He knew that the very idea of being small bothered Epel so Renmu always supported him when he needed it or assured him that he was manly just the way he was. Then again, it made Epel sometimes want to prove his manliness even more when it was Renmu.

“Renmu, did Riddle tell ya about how I held mah own out there on mah broom?” Epel asked excitedly.

Renmu nodded. “I did. I heard about all your heroic efforts. I'm happy to have classmates like you guys.”

Epel wasn’t expecting such a response. He was just trying to gloat a little bit to the Prefect. Epel didn’t know what else to say now.

Renmu smiled. “Sono Toori. I don't know what I would do without you guys sometimes.”

“W-Well you can rely on me to help you out, Renmu. I’m strong and ther ain’t nothin’ that can get n’ mah way!”

Renmu chuckled deep in his chest. “Arigato, Epel.”

Their conversation soon trailed off as their dance continued. This time with Renmu taking the lead, their steps were in sync and the rotations smooth. Their capelets swayed with each step and rotation they made. Renmu dipped Epel low and gracefully. Epel sputtered like a fish at Renmu as he held the smaller boy from fully falling to the floor. Renmu just smiled brightly at him and pulled him back up into a spin. Epel laughed as Renmu kept them twirling around. They weren’t even dancing correctly anymore.

To Epel, the way Renmu looked, amongst the other twirling pairs in the room, illuminated by the warm glow of the chandeliers, made him look so ethereal. He looked manly even. Like Malleus did in his attire. He looked like a prince. He looked as though he fit the atmosphere, like he was made for it all.

“Ah, ya make me feel like ya darlin’ when ya do that.” Epel mumbled, his cheeks as red as his apple blossom mask.

“Ah, Gomenasai.” Renmu muttered.

Epel looked adorable with his mask on. The apple blossoms around his eyes were pretty and complemented his lavender hair. It was fun that they all got to dress up for the occasion. Everyone's outfit represented them in more ways than one. No one looked the same and yet they all fit the part so nicely. Renmu really hoped that they could have more opportunities like this in the future. Yeah there were times where they were fighting for their lives before they could even enjoy the fun things but even the bad things made memories. Renmu wanted to look back one day and say “Ne, Ne, remember when we got tricked into going to a ball at Noble Bell College and almost got killed by Rollo and Firelotus'?’ Then we got to dance the night away afterwards because y'know, we saved the day?” Those very things made memories and brought them together and Renmu loved every bit of it. Or maybe Renmu was starting to become twisted like the rest of them.

“Hey Renmu, look!” Epel suddenly shouted.

Renmu whipped his head around in the direction Epel was looking in. At first Renmu was confused on what Epel was looking at until he saw Rook. Rook was dancing with Neige, but that wasn’t the problem. Rook was balling his eyes out as he danced with the Royal Sword student. Neige was all too happy to be dancing with Rook but it seemed that Rook wasn’t ready for that step in their relationship.

Neige reached up and wiped away his tears which made him cry even more. Epen and Renmu shook their hands in disappointment.

“Poor Rook-Senpai…” Renmu chuckled.

“Vil would be appalled to see Rook shed a tear for his biggest rival.” Epel muttered.

“Let’s just hope he doesn't find out.” Replied Renmu.

Epel shuddered. “We wouldn't hear the end of it if he did.”

The song started to come to an end. They finished the last couple of box steps and unhooked their arms. Everyone took a step back and bowed at their partners. The lecture hall, once filled with the lively music from the orchestra, erupted in a round of applause.

“Uh, thanks for dancing with me, Renmu,” Epel said over the loud applause. “That was actually pretty fun for a change.”

“Yes, I had fun too.” Renmu said with a smile. “I’m glad I got to have this dance with you. My first dance at that.”

Epel couldn’t help but smile. “Well, ima go get some food. See ya later!”

Renmu watched the smaller first year run off through the crowd, his cape billowing behind him. With the next song starting soon. Renmu needed to get off the floor and out of the way. He just now needed to find something else to do.

“Renmu!”

Renmu turned around to find Deuce running up to him. Deuce weaved around the other students, muttering apologies as he ran around them. Once he got face to face with the Ramshackle Prefect he took a deep breath and yelled…

the darkness of the night is broken by the light of the fire lotuses. beautiful, red flowers that burn brightly and lighten up this terrible scene

locals and visitors alike are passed put on the ground, their bodies engulfed by the flowers, while he stands by the Bell of Solace, grinning down like a god at the catastrophe he created

and inside a small room in Noble Bell College sit two students, hugging eachother

they originally locked themselves in there for safety, but now the burning flowers have reached them, and the student can feel their magic being sucked out of them

"mon amour" said the young blonde boy. "I believe this will be the last moment when we can use our magic" he says as he tightens his arms around his lover. "its a tragedy. the beauty of magic will be taken away from us. oh great seven, why are you doing this to us?" asks the young hunter to no one in particular

"we won't be able to attend Night Raven College anymore.." said his partner. "dear, I doubt we won't be separated.. I don't know where I'll go" they say quietly and look down with a solemn expression. "I don't know if or when I might see you again, Rook"

a dark look falls upon Rook's face. "ma chérie, I knew it was too good to be true" he sighs. "my love.." they look at him. "we had such great plans for this trip. we were so excited for the masquerade" they say sadly

they look down, then hesitantly speak. "what if..what if magic is holding me here, in this universe? and once these flowers are done with their job, I'll go back to my world?" they ask as they lift their head to look at him. "I might lose you"

they both stay silent for a few moments, looking at eachother. "well then, dearest" he say with a sad smile, then stands up. "allow me to have a final dance with you" he extends his hand towards them

they look up at him, dumbfounded. but then they smile and nod, getting up to join him. they both get ready to dance with their lover, probably for the last time

admittedly, the room isn't ideal for this, it's too small, too cramped, but the two don't care as they dance silently. neither one dares to speak, as if the silence between them is holy, or a precious artifact that will break with the slightest sound

they're both hurting, mentally and physically. the magic being stripped for them is causing them to feel weak, but they try to ignore it. the mental pain is worse. their whole reality is being flipped upside down, because they didn't realise Rollo's vicious plan in time

"mon amour" whispers the hunter as he looks at his partner, who suddenly feels lighter. "you're disappearing" he whispers tearfully. his partner looks back at him with the same pained expression. "I know, dear, I know" they say and rest their forehead against his

"let's just enjoy the time we have left together" they whisper and holding closer, no longer dancing. the two just hold eachother close, scared. "I love you" he whispers. "I love you too" they whisper back

and then only one person is in the room. the young hunter. his lover is gone. soon enough he passes out from the exhaustion of the fire lotuses draining his magic

when he wakes up at a hospital he's crushed. his lover is gone. when he goes back to night raven college to collect his things, he refuses to answer any questions about that dreaded night. it's a night he wants to forget, but also wants to keep in his heart, for it's the last time he saw his lover

and his lover? well, they woke up in their bedroom, confused. they're sad, but they don't know why. it's weird, but they shrug it off as them having a bad dream, as they stand up

and yet, their hand still finds its way around the necklace with a little bow and arrow charm hanging around their neck

I really love your writing. If it is possible could you write about an ignihyde reader that has a crush on Rook, and leaves him flowers, poetry, and stuffed animals. As Rook is an excellent hunter, it shouldn’t take him long to find out who the reader is, but there’s a catch. The readers UM is shape shifting. They can change everything about their appearance. Thus, puzzling Rook to no end. How long till he figure it out, and what does he do when he finally catches the reader?

Ahh it's my first request!! I hope you like this!

Your love life has always been like an unfinished video game: full of potential but perpetually stuck on “pause” because talking to people is hard and you have a knack for turning invisible (literally) whenever you get nervous. But lately, you’ve found yourself in a completely different sort of situation—one that involves Rook Hunt, the most poetic hunter of Night Raven College and the object of your not-so-secret, shape-shifty affections.

And when you say not-so-secret, it means you’ve been leaving a trail of gifts that practically scream, “NOTICE ME, YOU HANDSOME WEIRDO.”

It all started innocently enough. A flower here, a cute stuffed animal there, and, of course, the occasional badly rhymed poem you stayed up way too late crafting. You know, typical middle-of-the-night crush behavior. The thing is, you didn’t sign your name. Nope. You decided to go full stealth mode, and using your Unique Magic to shapeshift every time you left a gift. One day you’re a tall, mysterious student from Pomefiore; the next, a shy sophomore from Savanaclaw. It’s the perfect plan!

Except… this is Rook Hunt we’re talking about. He’s a hunter, a tracker. He could probably find a needle in a haystack with his eyes closed, blindfolded, and reciting French poetry. So it didn’t take long before Rook realized someone was very much into him—and that someone was playing hard to get (catch?).

But here’s the twist. You’ve made yourself the ultimate puzzle. Every time Rook thinks he’s close to figuring you out, you shapeshift into a completely new person. One day he follows the scent of roses, thinking it will lead him to his admirer, only to find an Ignihyde student carrying around a bouquet of tulips. The next, he tracks down a trail of tiny stuffed animals, only to spot you as an unsuspecting Idia lookalike casually sipping tea in the courtyard. (You panicked, okay?)

“Ah, mon amour, you are like the wind—impossible to catch, yet always present,” Rook muses one day as he stands in the middle of the school courtyard, staring wistfully at a lone stuffed squirrel you’d left behind. Meanwhile, you’re hiding behind a hedge, shapeshifted into a first-year Octavinelle student, silently praying he doesn’t sniff you out like some kind of love detective.

But you can’t help yourself. Every time he gets close, your heart pounds, your magic flares up, and—poof!—you’re someone else again. It’s been weeks of this now, and Rook is officially stumped. He knows it’s you, but at the same time, he doesn’t know it’s you. It’s both thrilling and terrifying.

One day, you think you’ve outdone yourself. You leave Rook a stuffed owl—because, you know, symbolism—and a particularly sappy poem about how his eyes are like “two radiant moons lighting the darkness of your soul.” (Cringe-worthy, but heartfelt.) You shapeshift into an Ignihyde student again and casually start making your exit, congratulating yourself on a job well done.

But then, as you’re about to sneak back to your dorm, you hear it: “Ah, I see you at last, my elusive muse.”

Oh no. OH NO.

You freeze, half-transformed between yourself and the random character you picked that morning. Slowly, you turn around, and there he is. Rook. Smiling. Not just any smile, but that knowing smile, the one that says, “I’ve been onto you this whole time.”

You’re caught. And not in the cool, romantic way. More like the “rabbit caught in a snare” kind of way.

“I must say, you’ve been quite the challenge, mon cher,” Rook says, walking toward you with the confidence of someone who’s won every game he’s ever played. “But even the most skilled of hunters can’t resist a mystery. And what a mystery you’ve been!”

You try to play it cool, but your brain is currently doing the equivalent of the Blue Screen of Death. Do you transform again? Disappear? Fake your own death?

Nope. You’re paralyzed.

Rook stops in front of you, tilting his head slightly as if sizing you up. “I’ll admit, it took me longer than expected. Every time I thought I was close, you slipped away… like a wisp of smoke.” He steps closer, and you feel your heart about to explode. “But now that I’ve found you, I must ask—why all the hiding, my chérie?”

He knows. He knows.

With a nervous laugh, you finally drop the act—literally. Your transformation fades, leaving you standing there, fully you, cheeks burning. “Uh… surprise?” you manage weakly.

Rook’s eyes light up like a kid on Christmas morning. “Ah! Magnifique! I knew it! My instincts were correct, but what a splendid revelation!” He takes your hand dramatically, and you swear he’s about to launch into a sonnet. “All this time, it was you—you—my mysterious admirer! The one who leaves me such lovely tokens of affection! And yet, you kept me in the dark, playing this delightful game of cat and mouse…”

You’re still trying to process the fact that Rook actually figured it out, while he’s over here going full monologue.

“I must say,” Rook continues, still holding your hand, “your talents are impressive. To evade me for so long—c’est incroyable! But why, mon cher? Why not reveal yourself sooner?”

“Well, uh…” You scratch the back of your neck, completely flustered. “I thought you’d think it was weird?”

“Weird?” Rook blinks at you, clearly baffled. “Why would I think that? You have done nothing but shower me with affection in the most creative ways! Why, I am honored by your attentions!” His grin widens. “And now that I’ve found you, I can return the favor, oui?”

“Return the—wait, what?” You blink at him, your brain short-circuiting again.

Rook leans in closer, his voice dropping to a playful whisper. “Did you think the hunter would not also become the prey? My dear, you’ve caught my attention as well… and I must say, I’m quite taken with you.”

Your heart skips approximately fifty beats. “You… what?”

“Ah,” Rook sighs dramatically, placing a hand over his heart. “You truly are a marvel. But now that I’ve caught you, I won’t let you slip away so easily.”

You’re still standing there, trying to process the fact that Rook Hunt, Rook Hunt, the walking poetry machine, is flirting with you. And not just in a casual way.

Wait why is holding his bow like that? Is he trying to serenade you with just his bow as his accompaniment?

“So,” Rook says, his smile widening, “shall we continue this game of ours? Or perhaps… a new adventure, together?”

You stare at him, your face about to combust from sheer embarrassment and disbelief. “Uh… sure?”

And just like that, Rook laughs, a joyous, carefree sound, and pulls you into a hug. “Magnifique! The hunt is over, but the journey has just begun, my chérie.”

As for you? You’re pretty sure this whole situation is a fever dream.

But hey, at least you finally got your guy. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll survive his endless poetic declarations.

umehara appears (again)

I know he’s a prolific VA but tell me why I keep getting jumpscared by this man 😭 This is like the 7th time where I’ve consumed media, went “wow, this voice is nice and it sounds kinda familiar!”, then looked up the VA and found out it was UMEHARA… I don’t think I’ve run into any other TWST VA in the stuff I play/watch to this frequency…

I wanted to share that Umehara voices this character in a recent GBF story event; it’s a younger version of a 68-year old butler-knight ex-mercenary named Sevastian. In the past, he was known as Wolfe and??? His hair actually looks similar to Leona’s (color and length) and he’s basically this world’s version of a beastman (Erune) and also his cleavage is showing.

Over the course of the story, Wolfe falls in love with a woman. All GBF story events are fully voiced, SO WE CANONICALLY HAVE A L*ONA VOICE CLIP OF HIM SUGGESTING TO ADOPT A Cheka CHILD WITH A HUMAN 💀 AS WELL AS OTHER ROMANTIC LINES… (I mean, yeah, Umehara has also voiced in real otome games but I feel this character is the closest in tone and attitude to Leona, making his lines the most transferrable to TWST.)

P.S. Okay but picture L*ona in this fit, I think he’d kill it—

We also get various lines that feel like things Leona has actually said before or would actually say:

“You’re really going to ignore what I just said and invite me along?” I swear to god Leona has said this before to both Silver and Rook for being overly friendly or insistent that he join them for an activity.

“I, on the other hand, wish you could vacate my life permanently,” sounds like a sarcastic formal comeback he’d pull out when forced to put on airs but he still wants to insult the other person. HIS PETTY ERA………………. ……. …… ….. … . .. ….. .. . … .. . . .. . . .

Those are only two examples, but there’s a lot more on the actual event story OTL
