how did ratchet and hot rod come to be close enough that rescuing drift together is something they would do? is he like his annoying (affectionate) nephew or something?

I think Roddy would be into all kinds of dangerous activities so he would hang out in fish hospital quite a lot as a result. And after some time befriend Ratchet~

I think it would be funny if he would also hang out with Drift separately. Not in any deep and meaningful way but Drift would let him hide on his boat from predators. And Hot Rod would give him some little friendly gifts like shells and fish because he has no idea what humans like but if they're catching fish it means they need it right?

As a paramedic, Ratchet's alt mode in tfp driving around Jasper is hilarious to me.

We usually know who is on what ambulance unit and where the other ambulances are. They have GPS trackers on them/on the ambulance's phone, so dispatch can see where they are. Jasper is a small town, so their EMS/Fire dept is likely small as fuck. So the first responders all likely know each other and what's going on.

NO ONE can track this weird ass ambulance. Dispatch has no idea where it came from.

The other medics in Jasper being like "what fucking unit is that" or "what THE FUCK." There's no department marking or star of life on Ratchet's alt's exterior, but it has lights and sirens. Which is fucking illegal.

The other first responders talk about the Mysterious Unknown ambulance that is OCCASIONALLY spotted like a fucking cryptid. It becomes an inside joke/urban legend.

I watched the whole Unicron arc in Transformers: Prime recently and this was all I wanted to draw XDD I always wish more emotion and tears were shown in times like this.

I am also experimenting with their tear color. Originally I headcannoned cybertronian tears to be their bodies coolant, and so I drew it green. But after Breakdowns line "Boo hoo! I'm shedding lubricant!" While fake wiping a single tear away.. it tells me that they CAN cry and that they obviously cry lubricant. Not coolant.

Buuuuut I felt like blood red tears would be more interesting than the standard yellowish color of clean oil. So I went with that and called it a quirky cybertronian thing <XD

I'll likely change the colors when I make their official redesigns. But hey it was fun to draw for this post at least! :}}
