genuinely hillarious how blunt the week before is in regards to ralph's identity. i dont think any other peice of fnaf media has ever been so blatant about any lore detail ever. ralph legit goes "they used to call me the phone guy" at one point

Keep in mind, Michael Afton didn't have a real support system.

His father didn't pay attention to him unless he was manipulating him to do things (Sister Location). His teenage friends were bullies and implied to have left him after The Bite. The people on the street who waved to him probably only wanted free pizza coupons from him.

So when Michael hears someone on the phone actually telling him he's doing great? That he's proud of him ? And doesn't expect anything in return (except possibly finding his body so his daughter knows what happened)? And all while Michael is fighting for his life against everything else that wants him dead??

That's Michael's brother in arms.

When Michael finds his body, one week later, would he hesitate to embrace him?

Is that why he gets fired for odor?

Have you read The Week Before yet? I really enjoyed it, all that sweet sweet Ralph/Phone Guy content is so good. Do you have any thoughts on it?

10/10, definitely my favorite FNAF book. Phone Guy has been my favorite character for years, so getting a whole book dedicated to Ralph has been awesome, even if it makes his death so much more tragic. Only not an 11/10 because Ralph is really bad at remembering/estimating when things happens (and he does acknowledge he may be misremembering so that's something at least), which makes theorizing about timeline stuff a bit more difficult lol

But also the book flat out has the names of some of the MCI kids brought up in relation to their animatronics. It's nice to get some confirmation about which one is which rather than just very probable assumptions. Also confirmation of CC/Dave being around which is very convenient for me lol

But yeah. Love the book. Everyone should read it

Got my hands on The Week Before, so be prepared for a full analysis later but for now my biggest take-away is just that they’re so mean to Jeremy Fitzgerald??? Like a guy had his brain taken out by one of the characters and Phone Guy is like “I wonder what he did to provoke it? If you ask me the whole thing was blown way out of proportion.” Like why are you blaming him????

Honestly Ralph is so interesting in the fact that he is a victim of Fazbear Entertainment (I mean he had to leave hints in his phone calls because Management apparently reviews the calls) and yet also defends the place, shutting down the rumors about the Bite of ‘87, mopping up the blood and not reporting on it, but it makes sense, especially from what we learn about him.

He loves the job, he’s an overachiever and seems to follow authority but also holds some frustrations (thinking to burn the place down) and with him gaslighting himself, it makes him so much more tragic.

He’s a man who works for a job that doesn’t care for its employees and yet he loves the place and adamantly defends the place. It makes sense since he had worked there for who knows how long. He’s probably a little desensitized to the dark side of Fazbear Entertainment.

Its also not that he doesn’t care (from what we pick up he cares a LOT) it’s just combined with working for them for so long and (imo) kind of having a Disassociation Disorder (which I could go into but that’s for another time) it makes so much sense why he’s the way he is (constantly stressed, making jokes often even in stressful situations, and probably has a lot of unaddressed psychological problems)

Anyways Ralph needs to get some therapy and a job that doesn’t cause him intense emotional distress.
