Who here likes ✨crime✨??
This Ides of March, make it special by not only stabbing Caesar 23 times, but by robbing from the rich for the sake of the poor. Or, at least, reading gay stories about it.
The Raffles Stories were written by E. W. Hornung in the early 1900s-10s, following the felonious exploits of AJ Raffles and his besotted chronicler, Bunny Manders. You can read all of these excellent stories, conveniently delivered to your email inbox for free, by subscribing to the Letters From Bunny Substack. The first story, The Ides of March will start the series off on, as you may have guessed, March 15th, otherwise known as our favorite Tumblr holiday. More information can be found at the link below:

I hope you will consider subscribing if you have not yet. Cheers to the death of Caesar! 🗡️

okay, so i know that it’s done to give the viewer a self insert-y role in the story BUT ALSO why are all these men just staring and documenting their bestie’s every move?? like in universe these dummies publish their writings. like your obsession with him is not even a disguise. just tell him you love him already and get it over with.
half of them are just a series of love letters though. watson just wants holmes to think that he (watson) is super neat and cool for being there to make holmes famous and awesome in the public eye
and the EXACT same thing is true of bertie with jeeves. like bertie has no need to be writing about how amazing someone who is significantly below him in class and social standing but he WANTS jeeves to think he’s cool and smart and appreciative of all that he’s done
now we move on the raffles and bunny which is the same thing again but this time bunny is doing it because he appreciates everything raffles did to get him out of the bad spot he had been in and wants raffles to know that he was worth spending time on
in conclusion, these bitches gay

"Yet it was whispered in the school that he was in the habit of parading the town at night in loud checks and a false beard. It was whispered, and disbelieved. I alone knew it for a fact; for night after night had I pulled the rope up after him when the rest of the dormitory were asleep, and kept awake by the hour to let it down again on a given signal." -The Ides of March

RAFFLEITES, IT IS TIME!
The week leading up to the Ides of March will be dedicated to E. W. Hornung's stories about A. J. Raffles and Bunny Manders. The week starts on Saturday and above you have the official prompts list. The prompts are meant as inspiration, so you can use all of them, pick one or two, or disregard them and do your own thing! All sorts of works are welcome and encouraged - the main point is to celebrate the Raffles stories together as a fandom!
To participate, tag your posts with the official tag #rafflesweek2024. You can in addition use #rafflesweek to add your posts to the general collection of Rafflesweek works from past years.
A reminder that the official Raffles tag on all other days of the year is #crime and cricket, which of course also can be used in addition!
If you have any questions regarding participating in Rafflesweek, do not hesitate to send me a telegram.
Let's go a-Raffling! 💎

So here's what I've been working on for the last 3 weeks.
Be gay and do crime in Victorian London in this new way to experience E.W Hornung's 1898 short story-- a contemporary counterpart to Sherlock Holmes.
The Ides of March is the first of a series of crime adventure stories starring the hapless and sweet tempered 'Bunny' Manders, and his daring, manic former schoolmate AJ Raffles, who drags him into a glorious and dangerous life of criminal sin.
This Visual Novel presentation of the story includes: --2 sprites with 12+ expressions and poses  --7 backgrounds --10 illustration inserts --7,500 word script

I'm so enjoying following along with both the Jeeves and Wooster and Raffles and Bunny stories via Substack! I haven't felt an urge to post about them on Tumblr since I'm really enjoying their respective discords, so I wanted to mention it! Trying to get into a new fandom is always intimidating, so I'm really happy with the newsletter setup - each installment automatically creates a space for people who are new to the stories to enjoy and discuss them side by side with people who are experts. And everyone being very nice and thoughtful also helps! If you're intrigued, it's definitely not too late to join in with either. I already knew all about the delights of Jeeves and can't recommend it enough, but I'm currently very intrigued, fascinated, and slightly in love with the wonderful Raffles and Bunny. 🐇

I have fallen into the pit of Sherlock Holmes inspired characters where one is the brain and the other is the semi-clueless but also mostly normal one whose got a lot of heart and soul and is the viewer’s way of understanding what the hell is happening in the story.
Sherlock Holmes, Poirot, Jeeves and Wooster, and Raffles and Bunny, just to name a few. this character dynamic has me in a chokehold and I NEVER want it to let go.
The stories all work really well because we have that window into characters of such incredible levels of intellect that they NEED another person to make it understandable to the reader and the humanity in the partnership with the other person makes the other character feel more human. It’s a beautiful way to tell a story and I blame Conan Doyle for me entering this rabbit hole.
I’d like to add that this post from @jus-alilcomforblelad is incredibly accurate since I also started with BBC and discovered the other versions of Holmes and have come to truly understand the devices used to make the stories as compelling and interesting as they are. Which then caused my spiral into my current state (which I wouldn’t trade for the world).

"I don't know whether smoking's forbidden in one's bedroom, but you'd better take one of these and stand tight, Bunny, because I'm going to say something offensive." I helped myself with a laugh. "Say what you like, my dear fellow, if it really isn't you and I that Mackenzie's after."
letter day! gentlemen and players part two its antics time
(and bonus jealous bunny of course)
