Movie "Top Gun 3" looks like it's going to take off
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 12/01/2024 - 22:28in Fun, Military
Aviation enthusiasts received great news today, when it was announced by various Hollywood media that the movie "Top Gun 3" began to be developed.
It was announced through The Hollywood Reporter, that Top Gun 3 is officially in development by Paramount Pictures, but not yet official by the studio that released the first two films.
Tumblr media
Tom Cruise and Joseph Kosinski, during the release of "Top Gun: Maverick".
With the return of actors Tom Cruise, Miles Teller and Glen Powell, the production will feature Joseph Kosinski, from "Top Gun: Maverick" in the direction. The script is already being written by Ehren Kruger, co-author of the second film.
Tumblr media
Although Tom Cruise signed a non-exclusive pact with Warner Bros earlier this week, it seems that he will remain busy with Paramount for some time. Cruise is currently filming Mission: Impossible 8 with the studio. The actor's space film with NASA is also fermenting at Universal. Doug Liman is driving this.
Tumblr media
The original 1986 "Top Gun" introduced viewers to Cruise's bold, if not impulsive, "Maverick" as a student who tried to prove his worth in the U.S. Navy's elite fighter pilot school.
Tumblr media
In the sequence that he hit theaters in May 2022, thirty-six years later (and some delays), he had to deal with his status as an elderly aviator while reconciling the loss of his best friend and co-pilot "Goose" (Anthony Edwards).
This time fans won't have to wait so long for the next movie, as Paramount recently announced that it has reached an agreement for "Top Gun 3". Now we have the hope that "Maverick" has been promoted to captain or will finally retire.
Tumblr media
Actors Glen Powell and Miles Teller will return to their characters as Lieutenant Jake "Hangman" Seresin and Lieutenant Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, respectively. Producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison are also expected to sign the sequel.
Tumblr media
Miles Teller.
Tumblr media
Glen Powell.
Although Bruckheimer has repeatedly pretended to be shy about the possibility, Kosinski previously suggested that there are more stories to tell about Cruise's Pete "Maverick" Mitchell.
"Is there another story that is convincing enough for us to need to come back?" Kosinski asked. "It seems to me that at the end of this movie Maverick still has a little gasoline in the tank."
Tumblr media
"Top Gun: Maverick" was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Film last year and took home the Oscar for Best Sound. In addition, its box office revenue of almost $1.5 billion shows that even after almost four decades, fans have never lost that loving feeling for the franchise. It was also the highest-grossing film of Cruise's career.
Paramount has not yet released information about the third film or its history. The production and release dates are also not clear.

France overtakes Russia and becomes world’s second largest arms exporter
The latest analysis of arms transfers conducted by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) found that the US led the global arms race, while France outpaced Russia in weapons shipments, according to Politico.
Paris has significantly increased its export market share from 7.2 per cent in the previous five-year period to 11 per cent due to efforts to expand into such regions as India. Pieter Wezeman, a senior researcher at SIPRI, noted that sanctions imposed on Russia “contributed to the increase in French arms exports.”
France’s rise was fuelled by major deals for Dassault Aviation’s Rafale fighter jet with countries, such as Qatar, Egypt and India.
In the past few years India, Egypt and Indonesia all choose French combat aircraft in competitions that included Russian alternatives.

Dassault Is Increasing Monthly Production of Rafale Jet Fighter - Technology Org

Dassault Is Increasing Monthly Production of Rafale Jet Fighter - Technology Org
French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation has announced that it is ramping up the production of Rafale fighter jets. These 4th generation jet fighters have been in service since 2001.
Dassault Rafale has been in service since 2001. Image credit: Tim Felce (Airwolfhound) via Wikimedia (CC BY-SA 2.0)
La Tribune reports that in 2024, Dassault Aviation plans to increase the production of its jet fighters to 3 Rafales per month. Later, the company should start producing 4 Rafales per month. The move is linked to a large pile of export orders, as well as an order placed by France itself.
Dassault hopes to reach an annual production rate of 33 Rafale fighters this year. It may not seem like that many, but the company has never reached such a number. And achieving this goal will not be easy, since many subcontractors are involved in the production of the Rafale, and not all of them can deal with such a pace with ease.
Despite such ambitious plans, Dassault faces serious delays in the production of subcontracted aircraft equipment. The company’s CEO notes that it takes subcontractors about a year to catch up with aircraft production.
The Rafale has quite an interesting history. In the late 1970s, the French Air Force and Navy were looking for a new jet fighter. France joined efforts by the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Spain to develop what later became the Eurofighter Typhoon.
Disagreements over the division of labour and other important questions led France to step back and develop its own fighter jet instead. Not for nothing – France was practically the only European country that had the capacity to develop and produce a fourth-generation jet fighter on its own, without the help of other countries.
In 1986, Dassault presented the Rafale prototype, which took off for its maiden flight that same year. The jet fighter was further developed and entered service in 2001.
[embedded content]
The Dassault Rafale is a twin-engine supersonic jet fighter with a wingspan of 10.9 m and a length of 15.27 m. It is a very versatile jet fighter capable of intercepting enemy aircraft, delivering deep strikes on ground targets, and engaging ships.
With the help of the ASMP missile, the Rafale could also deliver a nuclear strike. Rafale fighter jets are currently in use by France, India, Qatar, Greece, Croatia and Egypt. India and the United Arab Emirates are also waiting for them.
Ukraine has expressed its desire to become a user of the Dassault Rafale as well. It wouldn’t be a bad option, but no steps have been taken in this direction. The F-16 is probably the better jet fighter for Ukraine anyway, simply because there are almost 15 times more of them in the world.
This means that there are more countries that can offer parts, technical support and training. Ukraine is already in the process of getting F-16s so getting distracted with the Rafale probably would not make that much sense right now.

KAI forms Strategic Partnership with MBDA to improve Armaments of its KF-21, FA-50, etc. Aircraft
Tumblr media
The Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) Company recently formed a Strategic Partnership with the European Weapons Manufacturer MBDA Group aimed at strengthening the Armament Capabilities of the Aircraft made by KAI such as the KF-21 Boramae and FA-50 Fighting Eagle.
This means that the Weapons Suite of the FA-50 will be expanded to include those made by MBDA. No specific Weapons were mentioned which will be integrated into the FA-50, but MBDA does make Air to Air Missiles like the Advanced Short Range Air to Air Missile (ASRAAM), MICA Missile and the very long range Meteor Missile.
MBDA also makes Tactical Missiles like the SPEAR and Brimstone, and Deep Strike Missiles such as the Storm Shadow. Note that MBDA also makes the highly touted SPECTRA Self Defense System used by the Rafale, not sure though if this can be integrated into the FA-50.
The Philippine Air Force (PAF) operates a Variant of the FA-50 called the FA-50PH Fighting Eagle, so some of the above Weapons could be an option for them in the near future

France qualifies Rafale for the F4.1 standard
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 27/03/2023 - 18:30em Military
The General Directorate of Armaments (DGA) of France pronounced the qualification of the F4.1 standard of the Rafale combat aircraft on March 13, 2023, allowing its entry into the era of collaborative air combat.
The F4.1 standard includes notably collaborative air combat capabilities, the integration of 1,000 kg AASM weaponry and a strengthening of the aircraft against cyber threats.
This new standard brings great developments in capacity in the field of air combat: integration of the sight on the Scorpion helmet, improvements in fire control for the use of the Meteor missile (missile managed by an aircraft other than the firing aircraft), evolution of passive threat detection algorithms, as well as greater data exchange capabilities between Rafale jets.
Tumblr media
The F4.1 standard also allows you to benefit from the integration of the 1,000 kg AASM weapon with GPS/laser guidance, greater protection against cyber threats, new functions for Talios, OSF and RBE2 sensors and first developments in the field of connectivity.
Work carried out jointly by the DGA, the army staffs and the Department of Aeronautical Maintenance (DMAé) in collaboration with the industry
The qualification of this standard mobilized several DGA expertise and testing centers, in connection with the test teams of the French Navy, the Air and Space Force and Dassault Aviation. The first Rafale testing campaign to the F4.1 standard, in charge of the DGA Flight Test Center, took place in April 2021 in Istres. Numerous tests in the field of electronic warfare, resistance to aeronautical environments and armaments have also been carried out in the last two years in the DGA Information Management centers, DGA Aeronautical Techniques and DGA Missile Tests.
Tumblr media
All Rafales of the Air and Space Force and the French Navy will be gradually adapted to this new standard.
The operational experimentation of the Air and Space Force and the French Navy began on March 3, 2023 and a first boarding aboard the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle is planned in this context during the spring.
