"I have to enforce the law, and the law is not always about justice" except random times when she disagrees and will fully become the lawyer for an opposing party in full defiance of her bosses.

"Your honor I simply do not vibe with the law" and will say so in court to the point where she once got held in contempt.

Started her legendary string of "Go After The Large Company Instead of the Obvious Target" cases just because Liv asked.

She will actually do literally anything that Olivia asks...sometimes when she does something especially unhinged I go to check the scene before and 90% of the time she's doing whatever it is to appease some vague whim of Liv's.

Ride or die for the SVU squad as a whole after working with them for less than a year and knowing that they have cost her like all her political capital (something that was very important to her...she says so in her introductory scene).

Exactly predicted fetal personhood legal issues 25 years before the Supreme Court overturned Roe.

Wanted to execute a woman for the first time in NY history for feminism reasons.

Spends like 80% of all work meetings, with other people in the room who are often actively talking to her, just staring at Olivia.

Always down for a Crazy Scheme (especially when she gets to deceive others).

She has a lot of moments of understanding the law as a weapon (ie how to I use it to my own ends as opposed to viewing it as a holy ideal) that is only now actually becoming a common philosophy in law school circles.

WAY more loose-cannon moments in general than I remembered.

Also I feel the need to reiterate just how many bridges she will burn and loops she will jump through for the slightest hint of approval from Olivia. Just...so gay.

Seriously just like how in House a casual viewer may get distracted by Wilson's "Definitely a Normal Person" disguise and miss how he is just as crazy as House, Alex is just as batshit as known exhibitionist-asphyxiation-in-the-middle-of-the-courtroom fan Rafael. And I love her dearly.

What I think some of the ADAs do while waiting for a jury verdict:

Rafael: he’s either A, fighting off a headache and practically downing ibuprofen- or he’s squabbling with Liv- heavy in the last one-

Alex: Skimming though law Text books for absolute funsies (also because she’s over thinking the court cases she mentioned during indictment and she has to double check or Liz will never hear the end of it-) that or she would go chat it up with Cragen over some drinks (only Alex is drinking, cragens AA boys would have his ass if he drank-)

Sonny: Oh my boy is stressing. He’s pacing, biting his nails, loosening his tie because suddenly it’s a million degrees in that room- then he panics even more and the second someone asks if he’s okay, especially Rollins- the nausea hit him-

Casey: To be honest she’s probably just chilling in her office, and this is for simpler cases, I feel like she will just sit in her mess of an office (Seriously it looks like a mad scientist lives in there-) and mess with her soft ball things, that or going to bat with Elliot, that usually ends in her having to book it back to the court house quick enough to get the verdict-

You can’t tell me that Rafael doesn’t have a cat. Maybe one of his neighbours moved out, he hadn’t really had any interactions with them other than trying not to lose his shit at them through the wall when he’s working on a case late at night and they’re listening to something with a deep thrumming bass that sits uncomfortably at the base of his skull and makes his eyes blur.

When they move out he’s not heartbroken and barely restrains himself from jumping for joy as he watches the removalists carry out the last of their belongings until he overhears them.

“Hey is this their cat?”

“I guess so, must not want it anymore.”

And Rafael knows these people aren’t the greatest example of the human race but leaving a pet behind is pretty fucking terrible.

He keeps watch from the peep hole in his door until the removalists are closing the door shut behind them and walking away and then he’s slipping out of his apartment and into the now empty one next door.

He takes a small amount of satisfaction that his corner apartment is much bigger and nicer than this one and is grimacing at the general state of uncleanliness it has been left in when he’s suddenly aware of something soft brushing against his pants leg. Looking down and seeing a small tabby cat staring up at him with bright green eyes.

It looks slightly thin and as he reaches down and takes the loose, ratty collar in his hands he can see the name ‘Princess’ scratched into a small plastic pendant. His lip curls and he scratches behind her ear, “What a god awful name.”

Not Princess purrs against him like she agrees and he sighs for a moment before gently gathering her in his arms and standing up, staring at her idly, green eyes on green eyes.

“If you promise not to scratch at my couch or my suits I can try to remember to feed you every day.” He murmurs lazily, the cat simply pushes her soft head against his and he huffs out a laugh. “Oh I am very likely going to regret this.” Before carrying her home with him.
