How? Well not only is the owner a wizard. But also a werewolf with keen senses, and the son of an extremely accomplished legilimens. Meaning he knew just what to add to your drink to make it all a tad bit better. A Mocha with a drop of calming draught for the nerves. Or an espresso with some pepperup when you’re under the weather. Maybe even a Chai with some pick-me-up, for the small physical pains.

Remus had always assumed he was happy and content with his live. His little coffee shop, apartment above it, best friend close enough for apparation. Brewing coffee during the day, retiring to a good book for the evening.

Though when a handsome young man entered his café as Remus was closing up, he slowly started to realize those assumptions were exactly that, assumptions.

La Ferme des Sept Lunes is 10 hectares of organic and biodynamic vineyards along the Rhone. They have a southeastern exposure and this paired with their altitude brings a freshness to the wines.

Most notably though, there is a high alcohol content to this punchy, dry white.

The grapes are manually harvested and picked when fully ripe - there is zero yeasting or addition of enzymes. Roussane - bright, floral, baked bread, spices, surprisingly high acidity. a rich wine defined by its nutty-spicy notes

Marsanne - almond and beeswax, weighty, can produce fairly decadent wine, similar to Chardonnay in having a big personality

Tasting notes: lemon filled pastries, vanilla, nectarine, toasty, waxy, great minerality

Pairing: pork, mature and hard cheese, poultry

Bussiness of Dreams - “Ripe for Anarchy”

Ripe for Anarchy (2019), el sucesor del disco homónimo de Business Of Dreams lanzado en 2017, es una experiencia que sumerge al oyente en un océano de buena nostalgia, con un sonido claramente inspirado por el jangle pop de mediados de los ‘80. Siendo Aztec Camera —e incluso The Smiths—sus férreos guardianes, el proyecto solista de Corey Cunningham logra un trabajo pulido y con composiciones más que sólidas. Guitarras distorsionadas hacen las veces de colchón a una voz que funciona como un instrumento más, y temas más acústicos donde un teclado brillante acompaña los interludios instrumentales generan una atmósfera equilibrada para un álbum que tiene un sonido propio en este 2019.

Tallies - “Tallies”

Con una entrada que podría apuntar hacia el lado del shoegaze, Tallies presenta su primer LP. Las composiciones, frescas, efectivas y con un aura que recuerda a los primeros trabajos de Tennis, tienen como fondo ideal un verano como el nuestro, más que al invierno estival. Oriundos de Toronto, saben construir una atmósfera llena de guiños al dream pop para mezclarla con la luminosa voz de Sarah Cogan. “Midnight” es un claro homenaje a la voz de Elizabeth Fraser y al dream pop como género.

White Fence - “I Have To Feed Larry’s Hawk”

Hipnótico, paródico, pero siempre firme y con un excelente trabajo detrás, White Fence ofrece un disco camaleónico que evoluciona según el paso del disco. Tim Presley juega a ponerse caretas: cuando no juega a ser Lou Reed —o el Bowie de “Ziggy Stardust”— en “Neighbourhood Light”, se disfraza de alguno de los héroes de la psicodelia de fines de los ‘60 o de todos a la vez.

Este LP es un desfile de géneros, un proyecto que puede volverse ocioso pero no lo hace, y que mantiene una coherencia que hace las veces de hilo conductor para lo que parece un galimatías pero que al verlo en perspectiva es un rompecabezas cuyas piezas encajan a la perfección.

Grandchildren - “Grandchildren”

Lo bueno, si breve, dos veces bueno. Lanzado al ruedo en 2010, hoy presentan su cuarto disco de estudio. Un trabajo contundente, que va desde el folk lleno de armonías e interesantes vueltas melódicas de “Ok I’m Waiting” hasta “Phantom Pains”, con su aire de jazz-rock que también recuerda a aquel riff de “Three of a Perfect Pair” de King Crimson. 

En este recorrido hacen paradas por temas casi a capella, donde una tímida base se acerca y acompaña las voces de Aleks Martray y Shari Bolar. Acorde a una tendencia que en muchos ámbitos se extendió desde el año pasado, donde la duración de los álbumes puso en tela de juicio la frontera entre EPs y LPs, Grandchildren no supera los 30 minutos, pero es todo el tiempo que necesita la calma contundencia de sus composiciones.

Lorelle Meets The Obsolete - “Líneas En Hojas (single)”

Parte de su último disco, De Facto, este ensoñador single del dúo mexicano oriundo de Guadalajara tiene un arranque popero que luego se va volcando hacia lo psicodélico, acompañado por balbuceos sobregrabados y un bajo frenético que funcionan de umbral para un estribillo luminoso, que encandila a quien se ponga enfrente. Lorena Quintanilla y Alberto Gonzalez se encargan de trasladar al oyente por un desierto lleno de sonidos que se entremezclan para dar nacimiento a una obra que es tan agresiva como liberadora.
