I think its pretty phenomenal, it honestly has the best stakes of any MLP episode i've seen when it comes to magnitude. the stakes are personal, and yet they feel world ending, deeply emotion and character driven. The fact that Sunset Shimmer has gone so far into goodness that she would gladly sacrifice all of her memories for her friends is utterly phenomenal. Also visiting Equestria is at its absolute funnest, with the same tone, she gets to reunite with celestia and have a bunch of rly cute interactions with twilight! Also wallflower is fine enough for a badguy, i think her actual dialogue is a bit too soft for her actions though. its pretty funny that someone that should be saying "I WILL NEVER STOP HATING YOU-- AND I'LL MAKE SURE EVERYONE ELSE FEELS THE SAME" she says something like "now everyone knows youre the biggest meanie" which is like baby talk. its amusing to me. Concidering her actions, her way of demonstrating her desires is surprisingly tame. Also i love that part where scitwi is like "You made the mistake of fighting the power of friendshi--" And pinkie just shouts "yeah we get it LIGHT HER UP LADIES!!!" And they all fucking shoot wallflower LMAO thats so funny to me. they might as well have been holding AK-47s at that point. Good antagonist though, very interesting role to a phenomenal special with status quo-affecting stakes.

as always I’m thinking about the Stede/Izzy/Ed dynamic and trying to figure out how they can still win. I started going through this in the notes of a post and realized I just wanted to talk about it lmao so here we are

I’m Okay. So here’s the thing. I am so pro steddyhands. Like frankly it’s a dynamic that I love and want to see more of and like. As more mentally healthy individuals I think they would be soooo unstoppable like actually peak romance and chaos. BUT they are. Not. Mentally healthy individuals like they are all so incredibly fucked up. And that is maybe a post for another time. Anyway so I have two ideas about the ideal plotlines for these three, which I call the realistic plotline, and the one that won’t happen but would be sooooooo gay plotline.

This post ended up being kind of long bc I talk a lot lmao so here’s a cut.

Even though I want in my heart a steddyhands endgame, Jenkins has said that the third season would (if greenlit) be the last, and that’s just not enough time to work out a well-written and satisfying romantic end for the three of them. Also, I just honestly don’t think steddyhands was ever in the cards for this show; it would just be way too messy idk. Realistically, I think we can definitely get an Izzy and Ed reconciliation, and we’re DEFINITELY getting stizzy bonding this season, so at the very least they’ll all be friendly going into the third. But this season is obviously about Stede and Ed learning to trust each other again and get to know each other better before they go back into romance. They have shit to work out and they’re clearly gonna be starting to do that in the next few eps.

I thinkkk the plan is for them to heal this season and actually figure out their feelings for each other bc let’s be so real, they were so fucking repressed in season one and had just BARELY realized they were in love before things went to shit. The third season will probably just be them becoming proper husbands and co-captaining and like fighting the British yippee. Cannot wait.

As for Izzy. Oh my god Izzy. Okay. So he’s sticking around for now. He’s been the only one looking out for his crew this whole time (and honestly I think he and Stede might bond over that. Stede kind of gives very few fucks about his crew but he values their lives and doesn’t WANT to leave them behind. Tbh breaking them out while also dealing with Ed’s death was just so insane of him and like. He’s gonna be such a good captain.) and anyway, we know he’s going to be teaching Stede pirate things. Not to mention that everyone loves Con so Izzy’s undoubtedly going to be hanging with the crew and keeping them organized while Stede and Ed fuck off on their bonding excursions.

My running theory for Izzy in season three is that he’s going to be captaining the Adventure. (For those who don’t know, the real life Blackbeard had the real Israel Hands captain that ship for a hot minute.) Izzy’s wanted to captain a ship for a long time, and I mean, he’s the Revenge’s captain in all but name at this point. So once he’s sure Ed and Stede and the crew aren’t going to set the Revenge on fire and accidentally kill themselves, he’ll go off to captain the Adventure and have his own healing journey during the third season. Hell get to figure out what it’s like to be out from under the shadow of Blackbeard, and like honestly it’ll be way less stressful and he’ll have a good time. Season three can cut between his adventures and the Revenges adventures, and the overarching plot will have all of them reunite in the latter third of the season (deus ex machina Izzy PLEASE). They’ll work together, have a final reconciliation where they all end on good terms, and either Izzy will go his own way as his own pirate captain, or he’ll decide that he’s grown and healed but he still likes working with New Ed and he stays on with the Revenge or they form a fleet with the Revenge and the Adventure and maybe another ship that shows up at some point in the third (I just feel like a fleet of two ships sounds stupid sorry). Maybe they’ll give Izzy a boyfriend in season three also. Like maybe it’s just me but I feel like getting laid would fix him.

I’m really, really excited for Stede and Izzy to get closer this season. Their little enemies to romantic rivals to still romantic rivals but they have bigger things to worry about to besties is just so real. And I think that them being closer is going to just bring this new balance and dynamic that we haven’t seen before.

So that’s the realistic plotline. Everyone ends up happy, we have pirate husbands, and no one dies except for the British. Onto my insane pipedream plotline also known as the outline for the fic I will probably never write.

Basically, it starts off quite similar to the above prediction for the rest of the show. The only caveat is, the show extends past three seasons. I don’t know that Jenkins will keep writing after the third, even if the response is huge, just because he seems really dedicated to telling the story properly, and unless he decides now that he wants to keep it going, a fourth or more season would mess up the pacing of the show, especially since the season three finale is supposed to the The Show Finale. But for the sake of this fic outline, let’s pretend we get as many seasons as we want.

I still think Izzy should captain the Adventure. Like I really firmly believe that his and Ed’s relationship cannot fully heal unless they part ways for a bit, and as an Izzy diehard I just want him to have fun without worrying about Ed 24/7. I want it to be light, though. Like mostly just him working out his shit with Ed and what he wants from his life going forward.

Meanwhile, Ed and Stede get to have their honeymoon phase on the Revenge. They’ll have a mostly functioning crew for once, and I also like the idea of them escaping the law or fucking up nobles. Like just really have a fuck the rich moment. Once again, it’s light. BUT I also want them to acknowledge that they miss Izzy. Like Ed will tell stories about the years he worked with Hornigold and how he fell in love with pirating and probably compare this new beginning with him and Stede to when he set out on his own captaining journey and as he reminisces and starts to get over the trauma he never really dealt with, he’ll realize just how much Izzy was always there for him, and he’ll regret how he treated him when Izzy was the person closest to him for so long. Also, generally seems to be leaning away from being a full pirate rn. Like he’s definitely starting to realize that there’s more that he wants out of life, which he’s going to have to balance with pirating being the more that STEDE wanted out of his life.

Meanwhile, Stede will have his pirating tricks that Izzy taught him, and while Ed has his own style and certainly lots of pirating experience, he’s already taught Stede a lot, and, quite frankly, he’s a terrible teacher. Like. We saw how the sword fighting lessons went. Izzy is going to be more effective, and I think he and Stede are going to have a lot of fun once Izzy realizes that Stede actually respects his advice and genuinely wants to improve. Like that’s going to be really good for them. But then Izzy leaves, and Stede’s left with not very many people to go to with advice or ideas. People that will critique him (mostly) fairly. Once again, Ed loves Stede, but he mostly just wants Stede to be happy, and he’s good just being on the sidelines watching his husband slay the pirate life. So Stede misses Izzy too.

So does the crew. Ed tends to view himself as quite separate from the crew, and while that’s subject to change, I don’t think he actually knows how to be a good captain? Like. Izzy has been doing his job for him for forever. Meanwhile, Stede cares about the crew’s well-being, but he really isn’t that close with any of them. He very much sees himself as their leader, and lets them do whatever the fuck they want as long as the ship isn’t sinking and they all get to do some good old fashioned raiding.

Izzy, on the other hand, spent a long time in the space between captain and crew. While he sees himself as part of the crew, he has a huge responsibility that inherently comes with being first mate and is further burdened by the weight of dealing with post-breakup Ed. He earns the respect of the crew when they see how much he takes on for them. “He’s our dick.” While Ed’s prestige intimidates crews into following him, and Stede initially bought a crew, Izzy earned the respect of his crew, and he proved to them that he cared about their lives and their well-being. So yeah, going back to the Ed/Stede co-captaining chaos means that the crew is going to miss Izzy.

Note here that I think the Adventure would already have a crew. I don’t know under what circumstance they’d need a new captain, but let’s imagine that that’s what’s happening here. I want Izzy to be fully out on his own, without any of the crew he’d had before. Our season one crew stays with the husbands. In my mind, Izzy meets a guy from the Adventure, they become besties, and then that guy invites Izzy to come be their captain bc the old one like died or whatever. New guy is Izzy’s first mate, and helps him work through some of the Issues.

And Izzy LOVES being captain. He likes the responsibility, he likes looking out for his crew, and he enjoys looting and fucking over other pirates and colonizers and it’s just a whole vibe for him. He’ll earn the respect of this crew as well. He prioritizes their lives over his own, and they genuinely enjoy working for him.

Here’s the thing, though. Being captain is lonely. He has his own quarters, which are pretty fucking sparse. He has a new crew, and while making his own name is good for his ego, no one on his new ship knows him the way his old crewmates did. And let’s be honest, while his crew enjoys working for him, he runs a tight ship. He’s abrasive. He’s brutally honest. He can be cruel. He’s fucking insane with a sword. Let’s not forget that this is a man who, unlike Ed and Stede (for now) very willingly murders. Izzy can be SCARY when he’s not running himself ragged trying to please and take care of and save the man he loved without getting the rest of his crew killed.

So. He’s not really bonding with the crew. They aren’t friends. They’re just a team of pirates who trust their very scary leader. He’s close with his first mate, at least, since that’s the buddy who brought him onto the Adventure. For the most part, the isolation isn’t bad. He’s allowed to reflect and grow and become more confident in himself. He realizes he’s his own person and not just Blackbeard’s guard dog.

Still, he finds that there are things he misses about the Revenge, so when Ed and Stede find themselves in a tight spot (with the British? I do think it would be so fucking funny if we had ANOTHER Badminton), Izzy doesn’t hesitate to come to their rescue. He saves the day, gets to talk a bit with the husbands, and they decide that while being separate was good, maybe traveling together is something they can do again. The Adventure joins the Revenge, and we end season three.

THEN in season four we get to see the three of them together again. Their time apart has helped ease tensions, but there’s still work to be done before we enter poly territory. So Ed and Stede are fully in a relationship, with Izzy on the outskirts. Izzy’s gotten over his blind devotion to Ed and has grown closer to Stede, and it’s comfortable, but sometimes still a bit weird.

Izzy’s (and by extension, Ed’s) past is coming back to haunt him in this season. People he thought he’d left behind show up, enemies he’s made are coming back for revenge, and he can’t deal with it all on his own. Ed and Stede have to help him through it, and they have his back the way he had theirs at the end of season three. Ed begins to realize that he didn’t know Izzy as well as he thought he had back when they were shipmates, and so they get to talk and properly discuss what went wrong between them (namely Ed’s dismissive attitude towards Izzy and Izzy’s inability to accept Ed as anything other than the Dread Pirate Blackbeard).

Stede and Izzy get to be Violent together while Ed stays behind and organizes the auxiliary wardrobe, and now that Stede has improved on his swordsmanship even more, they get to have a lot of fun. Bonding via murder, my beloved. They learn how to work as a team, which would just be SUCH a dynamic like gentlemen pirate plus rabid chihuahua? Nothing better.

Eventually, I think the Adventure would make its departure. Izzy’s first mate would become captain, and they’d part amicably. Izzy stays with the Revenge. With Ed and Stede. The three of them take meals together. Izzy is a co-captain in all but name, preferring to remain first mate as long as he gets a say in what they do and where they go. He loves working more with the crew again, and they’re more responsive to him than they’ve ever been.

And slowly but surely, they all realize their complicated feelings for one another. Secretly and without telling each other, obviously. Ed and Stede are both confused with themselves because they’re HAPPY they have and love each other, but they also both value their time with Izzy so, so much, and of course they can’t say anything to the other because then Ed will think Stede doesn’t want him anymore, or vice versa, and that’s not what’s happening.

Izzy is just so fucking confused bc he can tell that how he felt about Blackbeard hasn’t gone away, exactly, but something’s different. And when he and Stede are fighting together or preparing the next ambush or discussing plans for their next stop, it’s so fun. Fighting with Stede is like breathing in a way that fighting with Ed never was. So. What the fuck? But it doesn’t matter how he feels anyway because Ed and Stede are together and why would either of them ever want to replace the other with Israel (Basilica) Hands?

So while they’re each having an existential fucking crisis, the entire crew knows what’s going on, or they at least have realized that there’s something weird happening with Izzy and the captains, but it’s not bad the way it had been before. So there’s betting pools going on who’s fucking who and whether or not Ed and Stede will leave the other for Izzy or if they’ll all just end up being together.

And just as things are reaching a breaking point between the three of them (Izzy retreats from them both, snapping at them and refusing to open up the way he had been previously and yelling at the crew more than usual, Ed stops talking to anyone at all, preferring instead to do target practice with Jim, and Stede is throwing himself into one raid or project after another, staying up through the night until he can’t stay awake any longer), our main conflict comes into play. We’ve been dealing with someone from Izzy’s past all season, and things finally come to a head. Tables are turned, and now Ed and Stede have to work together to save Izzy from whatever the fuck is happening. During this time, they realize that Izzy is equally important to the both of them and vital for the co-captain dynamic and they’re like. Fuck. Now we REALLY have to save Izzy.

And god, Izzy’s been saving their asses this entire time, hasn’t he? He’s always been there, and now they need to be there for him.

So uhhhh they rescue him and everyone kisses yippee that’s the ens of season four. Season five gets to be the True Poly Season, where they get to fuck around and be the baddest bitches of all time and it’s beautiful.

And that’s my rough outline for. What the show could be? A fic I want to write but probably won’t? Uhhhh yeah 👍

Klance- When Keith is way with the blade of marmora

First of all, Lance is sooooo annoying when Keith is away. Bro will not shut up about his super hot grumpy emo boyfriend. Keith’s name leaves Lance’s mouth at least 199 times a day, if not more.

Second of all, Keith is the complete opposite. He gets really really quiet, more quiet than he normally is. He doesn’t mention Lance at all but his name never leaves Keith’s mind. He only really gets talkative around Lance so without him, Keith doesn’t talk unless he has to.

THEY TOTALLY SWAP JACKETS BEFORE KEITH LEAVES EVERY TIME!!! Keith has literally turned around and come back to the castle just to get Lance’s comfy green jacket. Keith likes Lance’s jacket bc it smells good and actually keeps him really warm. Lance likes Keith’s jacket bc it’s small and scuffed up and worn but he prefers to hold Keith’s jacket close to him rather than actually wear it all the time. He’ll just walk around the castle with the red jacket thrown over his shoulder or clutched tightly in his arms.

When Keith is only gone for a couple days, Lance gets sooooo excited when he returns to the castle. He goes running through the halls with red cheeks and the biggest grin to meet Keith in the hangar when he arrives.

“KEEF!!!” “I told you to stop calling me that.” “I missed you! Did you miss me? Oh my quiznak, you totally missed it! Pidge caught a piece of equipment on fire yesterday. It was so crazy and-“ Cue Lance talking Keith’s ear off while he just smiles and nods along.

If Keith is gone for longer than like a week, bruh it’s so dramatic when they finally reunite. Just picture a teary-eyed Keith on his knees, still in his blade suit, clutching a happy crying lance in his arms. They just miss each other sooooooo much.

The whole team is like 🥹🥹🥹

Pidge specifically is like “I’m not crying, you are…”

Pretty much every time Keith is traveling back to the castle, he’s exhausted. There’s a lot of pressure on him, a lot of weight on his shoulders right now. He’s always on high alert, super tense and barely getting sleep. BUT when he finally sees Lance again and hears his voice and feels his embrace, he gets a sudden rush of energy. Now he wants to pull another all nighter just to catch up and spend time with his bf.

Oddly enough, Lance spends a lot of his time in the training room when Keith is gone. No one’s really sure why but Shiro thinks is bc Keith is always training and so being in that room makes Lance miss him less, ya know? Pidge is like 99% sure it’s bc he wants to actually practice so he can impress Keith with a super cool new move he learned when he gets back. Pidge is correct

If Keith has any down time while he’s away, he likes to just daydream. There’s not much else he can do so he stares off into the distance and gets lost in thoughts about his tall dreamy boyfriend and the last time they made out and how he can’t wait to feel his thin arms around him again and how he misses the smell of his nightly face masks and the sound of his voice and the texture of his hair and the freckles on his tan face. I could go on for days.

The second Keith leaves, Lance begins planning 😈 He racks his brain with cute date idea and nice things he can get/make for his bae. Every time Keith returns, after the initial hugging and kissing and excited smiles and small talk, Lance is giving Keith something nice or trying to take him out for a space picnic or some sappy shit like that.

Pretty much every time a date is planned, it never happens. Keith first complains that he’s too tired to go anywhere and then convinces Lance to makeout cuddle with him in bed instead.

But Keith does get really flattered and smiley and red when Lance gives him a pretty rock he found on a planet close by or a stuffed animal from the space mall or something like that. He just feels so special and he thinks Lance is just way too cute and pure for this world. He’s like ‘aww he was thinking about me’.

While Lance runs his mouth all day about missing Keith and anticipating his return, the night time is different. Lance cuddles Keith’s jacket or pillow in bed and lays awake for a while wondering exactly what he’s up to at this very moment. Is Keith thinking about him right now too? Is he safe? When will be be back? Poor baby boy is stressed about the love of his life.

Lance often has nightmares when Keith isn’t in bed beside him. It’s almost the same bad dream every time, just slightly different. It’s always Keith is on a mission with the blade and ends up hurt or lost or…worse. And Lance wakes up in a cold sweat every time. He wouldn’t know what to do with himself if Keith never came back to him.

Keith will never mention it to anyone ever but he has bad dreams when he’s away from Lance too. He often dreams that he returns to the castle to find the whole team gone, Shiro Lance Pidge, everyone. It scares the hell out of him, he loses sleep over it a lot.

That’s why they’re so intense when they reunite after a long time away from each other. The longer they are apart, the more they both worry about the other and the more these terrifying dreams occur. So when they finally see each other again after like a two month mission, they’re so overwhelmed with happiness and relief that they are both brought to tears.

When they finally sleep beside each other again, OH MY GOD THEY BOTH SLEEP SO GOOD. They feel so comfy and content and safe.

Keith snores pretty much every night but when he comes back after a long mission and finally gets to fall asleep next to the love of his life, his snoring can be heard from Earth probably. He’s just finally relaxed enough to get some good sleep again, he can’t help it. Lance thinks it’s cute and he knows it’s bc his poor baby is sleep deprived.

Long story short, these two are so deeply and madly in love. I don’t think two people have ever been this in love before. Throughout this entire space war, the thought of each other is what really keeps them both going. They’re fighting for the safety of the universe…but they are each other’s universe 💙❤️💙❤️

Episode 7 is?? Perfect??

My incoherent thoughts below.

Colin crying? CRYING? I was dreading that confrontation at the start of the episode but choosing to use the shot of Luke crying made it so much more devastating. Sure, you could have had him yelling and being loud and angry, which is justified. But to be quietly and tearfully DEVASTATED? With the tears running down his cheeks? Uff. Punch me harder in the gut, why don't you Luke.

I got a brief Penelope-Benedict interaction. I'm THRIVING.

I really enjoy Colin grappling with his beloved Pen being LW. I live for the angst.

Portia is a pleasant surprise. She's always wanted what's best for her daughters and has never apologized for that. But I also appreciate her being honest with Penelope about why she is the way she is, and that she's trying to be better. That's what I wanted with this season and I'm so happy Penelope is receptive to it.

(I also need a special one-off series with a young Violet and Portia SO badly. These two have a history that goes beyond being neighbors. I need to know more)

Violet falling victim to what her children endured when they met someone they were attracted to? Karma.

I do love John and I'm going to pretend that what's going to happen isn't actually going to happen. He's so sweet on Francesca.

The Genevieve and Penelope scene was so lovely. Gen dropping her accent with Pen because they each know the other so well. Gosh, I wish Gen could have been at their wedding.

The "WHAT GOOD AM I TO YOU?" leading into sex? UMMMM. HELLO? They're constantly horny for each other, we are so hashtag blessed. Also, there is nothing Colin loves more than sticking his fingers into Pen. I said what I said.

Kate-Anthony-Colin was a nice surprise but I should stop being surprised. Jess has done an amazing job linking the Bridgertons together this season.

THE WEDDING?! Their nods to each other, letting the other know that they're okay, that they want this was so beautiful. And to top it off, Eloise cried. My love.

Also? Prudence crying at their wedding? SOB

The Benedict and Eloise scene at the wedding? I'm so torn about who I think the next season main is going to be but I know whoever's season it is, the other will be very much apart of it. These two are so close, how could they not? Both of them are feeling lost this season. Unsure of their place in society, unsure of how to feel about love. I just want them to find peace and love.

Kate and Anthony are very sweet and they're clearly explaining why Jonathan and Simone won't be in s4 much but to travel to India while she's probs 6 months pregnant is... a bold choice.

The wedding dance to "You Belong To Me" was so perfect. I love that it turned into just them dancing because no one else mattered in that moment. They were just two people, who love each other deeply. And the soft way Colin ran his fingers down her cheek SWOON. If the Queen hadn't shown up when she did, he absolutely would have kissed her. He started to lean down!

PENELOPE WAS ABOUT TO STEP FORWARD. I think we can all agree that Colin would not have handled that well if she hadn't been interrupted.

Penelope and Eloise reuniting. Okay, I cried.

Bisexual Benedict RISE. I'm honestly sooooooo surprised they revisited it as I thought it was just a tease from season 1. I'm excited for him to meet his Sophie but I'm also excited for him to explore his sexuality before doing so.

I suspected that they'd follow the books and have Cressida find out about Penelope but I wasn't sure how exactly she would do that. It was really clever how they did it. As of now, I really do sympathize with what Cressida is going through and I think her doing what she can to take ownership of her live is great. How that's going to turn out for her in the last episode (and therefore how I'm going to feel about it) is another story.

nahh but fr, i think i wrote this down somewhere before but it's uh. kinda outdated now ._. sooooooo...

Lupin is easily the one she talks to the most outside of Jigen. She's known him the longest, having first met him at the same time she reunited with her brother, and he did help save her life back then, so he's the one she's most comfortable with. Plus, since he a) is close with Jigen and b) was involved in her kidnapping and rescue, she doesn't feel the need to be as secretive as she usually is and is able to be more open with him than most other people.

He comes around fairly often--sometimes with Jigen, sometimes without--and most of the time they have a couple of drinks and joke around, talk about life, shit like that.

He still tries to flirt with her because of course he does, he's Lupin, but weirdly enough he's more reserved and gentlemanly with her, especially when Jigen isn't around. When he is, Lupin likes to see how far he can push it before he is threatened with bodily harm. He usually get's shut down pretty quick, but whether they admit it or not they all know it's all in good fun.

tl;dr they get along pretty well! Lupin's definitely one of Aiko's closer friends both in and outside of the gang.

Goemon doesn't talk to her nearly as often as Lupin and Jigen. They've only met a handful of times, really. Having come around later than everyone else, he's a little behind on Aiko and her whole deal, so he's usually pretty quiet around her (though her being an attractive young woman who also happens to be his friend's sister doesn't help with that, either).

While they haven't spoken much, she seems to like him a lot. He's quiet and polite, which is a nice change of pace from how rowdy the rest of her boys seem to be. She still loves them, obviously, but it's nice to have someone a little less chaotic around for a change. Even if he is a modern day samurai carrying around a sword.

Truthfully he doesn't feel much different about her, though she does tend to be a little more boisterous than he is, especially when she's around people she's comfortable with (i.e. Lupin and/or Jigen) and double especially after she's had a few drinks. Still, she seems nice.

tl;dr they don't talk to each other very often but they like each other well enough.

Unfortunately there's not a whole lot to say about Fujiko or Zenigata since Aiko's never actually met either of them, only knowing about them from secondhand accounts courtesy of Lupin and Jigen. As far as she knows Fujiko's either an absolute bitch or a goddess who can do nothing wrong and Zenigata is the guy trying to put her brother and their mutual friend in jail. I imagine if they ever did meet Aiko would just be kinda wary around both of them. I can see her maybe warming up to them a little bit (more so Zenigata than Fujiko, though) but never enough to drop her guard around them, really.

I also feel the need to mention that because of a typo my friends and I now joke about Aiko being like, super down bad for Zenigata. Do what you will with this information.

Also he probably doesn't count but I briefly mentioned him in The Aible and also just want to talk about him a little bit but Dynamite Joe! He's a guy! Who may or may not have had sexual relations with her brother! Fun!

Basically Jigen set up Joe as Aiko's emergency contact because lord knows he's a hard man to reach and the list of people he trusts, especially with his sister, is like, microscopic. Joe was his only real option outside of the gang. She didn't really like talking to him at first since he was loud and scary and kinda gross but after a while they warmed up to each other and surprisingly ended up becoming pretty good friends and Jigen absolutely hates it.

IT WAS SOOOOOOOO MUCH FUN WTF!!!! i honestly expected (and dreaded) we'd be immediately foist back into Sole Hero Of The Universe Mode, and the fact we weren't has made me SO HAPPY i decided to stick with l'aiha for dt msq!!!! this expac was PERFECT for her, a chance to learn about a new culture and get away from her mantle!!!! it's everything i could've asked for and so much more!!!!

tural is BEAUTIFUL and so detailed, i loved the rites half of the expac and the way the plot twisted midway through was really fun to me!! i've seen ppl say the first and second half feel like different stories but i honestly disagree, i think zoraal ja and sphene are perfect opposites of wuk lamat and koana, and i think getting to see how coming into your own can be done right and wrong was really neat. i think they're two sides of the same coin, the coin being the story, and while i do wish we'd had more time to set up sphene's storyline, i think all the story beats themselves are great!

i LOVE the implications of the ending too!!!! we have this artifact now that has provably opened passageways to other reflections—something l'aiha has been deeply interested in and researching since shadowbringers!!!! if this is where the next 10 years are going, i am STOOOOOOOKED

i'm also so pleased with how l'aiha and j'sera (her sister, i renamed her bc dyslexia) have developed through this expac! i wanted them to grow closer now that they're both out of their comfort zones, and that's exactly what this story gave me. l'aiha becomes deeply attached to j'sera to the point of overprotectiveness throughout the rites—then, it's decided that l'aiha should stay in tuliyollal during the barrier stuff because there are 4 wols in her canon, and ONE should stay in the city. she therefore has to let sera go, and sera gets the chance to come into her own during the second half of the expac, rising to the challenge without anyone—her sister, her mentor, her parents—to protect her. when they reunite and face zoraal ja together, l'aiha gets to see how capable sera is and how much she's grown since they left sharlayan. l'aiha no longer feels compelled to coddle her, and sera no longer needs to cling to l'aiha! it's SOOOOOOOOO GOOD.

(i've also decided that, when zoraal ja orders the second attack on tuliyollal, the dragons aren't as close as they are in canon, and l'aiha uses azem's crystal to summon them to the battle. because it's cool hehe.)

sera herself got SOOOOOOO MUCH out of this expac!!!! i haven't fleshed out all of it yet, but i definitely think dt is where she and leviathan-egi start to really bridge the gap between them. leviathan-egi deeply respected its previous master, sera's mentor, and it's reacted extremely poorly to sera. it doesn't respect her as its master, treating her instead like a kitten to defend. but like l'aiha, leviathan-egi starts to realize sera has grown a lot in tural, and that it doesn't have to do all the work alone, that they can cooperate and become stronger for it.

i did NOT expect to end up shipping her and erenville, but as the story progressed i really really felt like they were a good fit! i've decided they became friends over the three years erenville was in sharlayan, so they're already familiar with each other, and aside from wuk lamat and krile, they're only REALLY familiar with each other, so they provide one another with much needed support during so much uncertainty and newness! it's sera that goes with erenville to shaaloani, and he tells her a lot about his mom during that time, so cahciua's loss hits her pretty hard too. (cahciua also DEFINITELY knows they like each other LMAO.)

i'm still getting my thoughts together for minfilia and valensia—the expac was just SO perfect for l'aiha and sera that i basically forgot to think about them VKFNKHCCHKVM. i want to though!!! i have ideas, and i think they'll both have their own strong places in dt—i think minfilia and sphene will be SO interesting, as well as valensia and koana!!

i'm just SO happy. i think dt is maybe my new first or second fav expac. i adored every second of it, it's like it was molded perfectly out of what i wanted for l'aiha and sera especially! ough. hough!!! i'm so happy.

ok my opinion now that i finished y8's story (spoilers)

tldr; overall it's a flawed but better end for kiryu than 6 imo. n ichiban is there <3 don't play this as your first yakuza game please don't you will get so much more out of this if you actually know who tf anyone is

it wasn't as awesomesauce as it seemed like it was gonna n it fell into the usual rgg problems - while surprisingly fixing a big one

kiryu's story effected me a lot 🥲 while ichiban's was just mostly "well i get to see ichiban yay". not to say i didn't care at all lmao the hawaii plot definitely still had it's strong moments (especially the scene w chitose after the bryce boss!!!) it just didn't hit the same overall

positive: KIRYU. i honestly loved most of the kiryu stuff. letting him look back outside of traumatic flashbacks.... letting him have a nice time..... giving him all these new friends that won't die on top of reassuring him that his old connections are still alright.... getting his ass punched by akiyama lmao. it really makes you realize how weird of an ending y6 would've been if that was truly kiryu's last game. so nice to finally be able to acknowledge previously tossed out characters/story beats in-game. seeing shinada mentioned… i cheered (i wish he was actually in there tho). on the hawaii side: tomizawa n chitose r sooooo good i didn't even think i'd end up liking chitose but i lov her.... n ichiban is the ichiban as usual

n the main villains don't die this game!? they're expected to live w what they did, even the evil cult leader!?!? kiryu's line abt not being able to change anything if you're dead wow wow wow hearing that after the prev games where a lot of them die even when they were able to change wooooooow. the pre-credits ending was sooooooo strong. I LUV KIRYU :( :) :(

Everything goes according to plan and Nick and Ziggy marry and have children. How?

Well, when a man and a woman love each other very much they- I'm joking I know you know how babies are made.

Honestly Nick's plan nearly worked. His real flaw was the pride of naming Sam. Had he left it, it was the perfect stage on which to reunite with Ziggy. "Hey, sorry, you were right I'm scared and I miss you", which is what the note was saying was enough to make Ziggy feel reconnected to the one person that *gets* it and take stock of her own loneliness. Hell, it could have worked even after naming Sam if they had died and Ziggy would have been devastated and reached out. From that reconnection (and she did call him!) it's just a matter of kindling the connection and with the Devil Magic (super strong after these recent sacrifices) things should fall into place with his desire. He'd also make her Mrs. Goode bc he doesn't want to sneak and at this point with his reputation and all it's doable.

Also, and he's not that stupid, he'd keep the Pact from Ziggy and while he would eventually indoctrinate their son he'd treat her better and more inclusively and as a *partner* vs what the Goode men usually do to their wives. Plus I think he and Ziggy would want a real *family* as in at least a couple of kids and not in the Heir and Spare format his dad did. Like they'd actually love both those kids as *kids*. And actually, weirdly, I think Will would be a key ingredient to it working. For the one, his acceptance of her would mend a lot of the resentment Ziggy would have and carve the path for the Sunnyvalers to not be able to say shit and have to include her. But also in wanting a family for Nick, and making Ziggy see Nick did care for his little bro, and in wanting their kid to have a sibling or siblings to love and bond with. Realizing they do have someone watching their back, in a way.

Honestly he was sooooooo close at so many times. If the kids had just died as quickly as he'd planned, then he just had to reach out for "mutual" comfort with Ziggy, offer his love and protection of her in this crazy town, maybe make sure their first baby is an "oops we gotta get married now" bb and then it would have been basically smooth sailing. Especially when at a point with the sunken costs of a couple kids and being Mrs. Goode, it's possible Ziggy catches on but knows it's too late to bail at this point. And then Nick gets everything he ever wanted..............

lmao ok I have soooooo many thoughts after the 3x07 reveal that jones is the dictator. liz-max-jones centric disorganized ramble-y thoughts & speculation under the cut lmao

first, this reveal tells us sooooooo much about max. max quite literally has no limits on his powers, except for bringing someone back from the dead. I remember this interview nathan & jeanine did back before s1 started airing where nathan said that max didn’t know what his limits were bc he’s just so scared of his alien abilities. and now we have confirmation that it rlly is just self-imposed limitations (like nathan even said in the interview lol). this also gives us the reason as to why the alighting wants max!

as we saw from isobel and michael’s attempt to stop jones, their abilities are no match for his. max is the only one who can possibly stop him. and that requires letting go of his self-loathing and fear. I hope this means some rosa & max bonding, as I think rosa giving max some kind of confirmation that she doesn’t hate him and doesn’t hold the cover-up against him will go a long way in him forgiving himself (also I’ve wanted rosa & max to be besties since 2x01 why have they not had a single one-on-one scene outside of rosa’s mindscape when he was dead 😩)

some jones thoughts: given his repeated insistence to max that they need each other and are stronger together, what if jones isn’t “complete” without max? as max is his clone, maybe he had to diminish his abilities for max to be created? so, what if booting him out of max’s body makes him weaker? and knowing the sword stores energy from jones’ kills also explains his personality! he’s cold and practically emotionless except for amusement and frustration/anger. we know that destruction and killing feels good for the aliens (see max’s manic state in 1x13 after killing noah lol) and there’s no way that amount of mass murder wouldn’t start to take it’s toll. (it’s also interesting to note that there’s an inherent instability to this power- we haven’t seen any other abilities cause an effect like this towards the aliens.)

3x07 also put way too much emphasis on liz’s alien science for it to not come into play at some point in taking down jones. given the repeated mention of severing connections, I think liz might figure out how to do so and break jones’ bond with maria before he has the chance to get the info he’s after. and even if liz doesn’t figure it out in time, I think severing the connection btwn jones and maria will be necessary to get her out of her coma.

I also think that getting rid of jones’ sword will be necessary in a one-on-one fight. my current theory is that liz will find a way to destroy it, which would be a nice way to tie-in her disarming that alien tech in 2x13 into this season’s A plot. (another way this could go is that max is able to gain control and he uses it over jones, but I’m personally hoping for the destroying it route lol.)

anyway all this rambling brings me to my big theory about where things are headed this season. so I’d been saying that jeanine’s comment of liz and max “making their final decision together” was hinting at a proposal. but as we’re about to be 8 episodes deep into a 13 episode season with very little movement wrt echo outside of liz apologizing for her experiments last season, I find it hard to see that happening organically. and with the stakes we have now- jones in maria’s mind, michael & isobel having no chance at taking down jones- the words “final decision” sound a bit darker to me.

so what if max is fighting jones and it looks like he’s going to lose, but liz refuses to leave him? what if max and liz are prepared to die together? it would demonstrate that they’re always going to choose each other and their unwillingness to be apart, and also just be some really good angst lmfaoooo. and tbh at this point I don’t think they’ll reunite romantically until after jones is gone (writers pls prove me wrong 🤞), so if they don’t have the chance to discuss their feelings before the inevitable max-jones fight, this would make it pretty clear to both of them how they feel lol. also love a good “can’t believe we survived” kiss and this would be the perfect opportunity for it!

You padded your way across the room and slid the panels open. "Kuroo-san, do you need anything?"

He greets you with a smile. "Dinner time, come."

"Sorry, I'll skip, I just ate snacks that Saki-san bro-"

He completely ignored what you were trying to say and grabbed your wrist. "No skipping meals in this house." He lectured as he pulled you towards the dining area.

You tried to yank your hand free from his grasp, heels digging against the wooden flooring of the engawa. "I'm fine, rea-"

"Seriously, I do-"

"Hep hap hep!" He paused in his steps, let go of your wrist, and finally faced you. "Look here my dear cousin, it may not be obvious to you but Ji-ji loves you very much. So imagine our shock when he allowed you to go -yeah, 'Tsumu and 'Samu told me. You," He emphasized. "Who was long lost to him, and the daughter of his only daughter."

"What are you trying to say?" You asked, irritated, though you didn't really know what got you riled up all of a sudden.

Well, that caught you off-guard. Once again, something pulled at your heartstrings at your cousin's words.

Cousin. Wow, it just dawned on you that you have one -scratch that, four cousins. Your father was an only child and you barely saw your relatives from his side. You've always thought about what it was like to have cousins that visit every holiday, celebrating family reunions, sharing meals over long tables.

Now, this cousin of yours just asked you to spend one night with them. Just one night and you were so selfish to even think about bailing out.

His boisterous laugh filled the hallway, when he calmed down, Kuroo affectionately ruffled your hair. "Nii-chan. Call me nii-chan."

The dining hall was just as magnificent as the rest of the house. The area is well-lighted and the sliding panels were pushed to the side, letting in the night summer breeze. Instead of plain zabutons on tatami mats, padded floor-level, polished wood chairs were placed around the chabudai.

All your cousins were already seated when you and Kuroo arrived. The twins(greeted you) and your most lovable cousin, Hoshina (glowered at you), sat on the left side while you and Kuroo sat on the right. You mumbled a soft 'good evening' at the trio, not letting Hoshina's antics get to you.

Saki-san arrived with two women carrying their food.

"Your grandfather will not be joining you for dinner tonight." She informed. "He will have his meal in his room."

Your cousins were about to ask why when another person beat them to it.

"Why, is he not feeling well?"

"Of course, ji-ji isn't feeling well. Someone here gave him a headache."

Your eyes narrowed at her thinly-veiled jab. You opened your mouth to retort but once again, that 'voice' spoke.

"Be careful with your words, Hoshina-san, you don't want to eat them later."

Your brow shot up at the lawyer's words. You clearly didn't need him defending you but his counter made your cousin shut up. You're not thanking him though.

"Man, I'm hungry!" Atsumu -or was it Osamu, you weren't sure, cut the tension in the air.

"Come on, Ushiwaka-san, take a seat." Kuroo invited and gestured for the seat beside you.

You silently prayed he wouldn't accept your cousins invitation. After your excange earlier, you were sure there was bad blood between the two of you now.

"Sure."

Ah, shit.

Ushijima took a step towards the seat beside you when another presence interrupted him.

"Good evening everyone!"

All heads snapped to the direction of the new comer.

"Kotaru-kun!"

You did a double-take. Was that delight in Hoshina's eyes? Wow, she could be real gorgeous if only she always smiled that way.

"Hey, there Shina-chan," He greeted with a wink and you swore your cousin swooned. He proceeded to greet everyone then his eyes landed on you. "Who's the beauty here?"

It was Kuroo who spoke.

"Our cousin, y/n, just came from Tokyo."

"Cousin, eh? Well if that's the case then I'll seat next to your pretty y/n. What do you think Kuroo?"

"Nice to meet you, y/n. I'm Kotaro, I'm the marketing manager of your grandfather's company. Iff you want to know more about the family business, feel free to ask me."

You chuckled at his casual flirting. "I'll keep that in mind. And nice to meet you too."

"So, what's your work back in Tokyo?"

"Nothing fancy, just waiting tables at a cafe and-"

"Are we going to eat or what?" Ushijima's irritated voice interrupted your chat. "Why don't you talk about what you do for a living some other time and finish our dinner so we could go check on your grandfather."

What the hell is this dude's problem?

Kotaro leaned towards you and whispered in your ear. "Don't mind him, he's always been a little stiff." He said then snickered.

You fought the grin that threatened to come and instead focused on your meal. Even with your attention focused on the food, you could feel everyone sparing you glances periodically while Hoshina's looks were accompanied by visual daggers.

"What are you al doing here? And why are your faces like that?" The old Washijo asked when the lot of you entered his room. His voice was stern but the fond look in his eyes was obvious as he looked at you all, one by one. "Even my marketing manager is here, did you come here to report or are you just lurking around?" He jeered lightly.

"Of course not, boss. Since when did you see me just lurking around your home? I came to give my monthly sales report and I'm glad that I did otherwise I wouldn't be able to meet your pretty grandchild."

You flushed crimson at his words. What a flirt!

"Since you said that my granddaughter is pretty, you are forgiven." The old man said warmly as he glanced at you. "But what are you all doing here? I'm not going to die yet."

"I think they are not used to eating dinner without, especially now that y/n has arrived," And with an uncharacteristically handsome smile, he added. "Is it beause of over-excitement or old age?"

Okay, what?

Did this man just threw a half-joke half-insult at your grandfather?

"That's what I tried to tell Saki-san earlier, but you knew her, she's very strict."

And he got away unscathed?

You looked around warily but it seemed everyone was fine with it, like it was common occurence.

The old man assured all of you that he was fine and shooed everyone out.

Except for you.

"Now, please leave me with y/n/, I would like to speak with your cousin privately. We have some very important matters to discuss."

Each of them said their goodbyes and to your surprise, all your cousins gave the old man an affectionate hug -with Hoshina even placing a soft peck on your grandfather's temple.

The last one to leave the room was your grandfather's lawyer, he turned to close the sliding panel when your eyes met.

Your insides churned at his unreadable gaze. It wasn't friendly but it wasn't hostile either but you were sure that his look held meaning.

Hi, don't mind me, just here to remind you not to think of Gon finding out Killua almost died twice and he didn't even know, blaming himself for not paying enough attention and being incredibly clingy for a while after. Or maybe he finds out while on Whale Island, where Killua isn't with him, and he carries that guilt along with that budding longing which makes missing Killua even more painful. Yes, I rewatched the darts scene.

...And good day to you too. WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME.

Worst part is I’m pretty sure Gon knew something bad happened to Killua after his fight with Rammot, and probably even more after his near-death experience in the cave, since Gon is very, very perceptive. He just - couldn’t process it. His brain was literally filled with self-loathing and revenge, he couldn’t possibly add the guilt of Killua almost dying for him on top of that.

Since Gon has a lot of time to reflect on Whale Island, there’s a good chance he would realize all of this, how much Killua did for him while he wasn’t looking - and he would hate himself so much, Killua did all of this for him, and Gon was too set on his goals that he didn’t pay attention to the most important thing in his life. 

He would think about how Killua did his best to try and hide it from him to keep this burden off his shoulders, and even though he feels extremely guilty, a new fondness and warm feeling of love would overcome him. Killua did all of this... for him. Without telling him, without asking for anything in exchange.

He’d keep all of these feelings bottled up, until the moment they reunite and he’d just let all of his affection for Killua pour out, because he has to, he wants to compensate for all the hurt Killua had to go through because of him. (he would be sooooooo clingy. hand holding. hair petting. hugs every chance he gets. words of affirmation every 10 minutes. killua would just get smothered in love.)
