As promised I went ahead and continued my "ghoul guide" with a part 2 (part one linked in replies)! This one covers stuff specifically with a made up lore guide of in-world ghoul stuff as if they were a sort of unique magic entity.
This one wound up way longer and had to be split so expect a third final one eventually lmao. for now though... I'm gonna take a break and yell. Bonus extra info plus the transcript under the cut!
ID in ALT text!
Bonus note: While not portrayed in the guide, it’s important to know a detail about ghouls’ origin called “memory echoes”. While ghouls are formed from humans past who lose all memory of their previous self while maintaining an assumed personality from before, at times certain instances of events, actions, items, and otherwise can trigger these “echoes”. Echoes are very rare, but a valued treasure to ghouls; they make them feel more connected to their past and more “human”. Upon triggering an echo, a ghoul will become completely listless, unable to respond or react until the echo has completed, usually within seconds.
“Memory echoes” are described as blurry faded memories that often show featureless shapes and colors, but a very strong “feeling” of a Deja-vu of the moment. They feel viscerally real and can have a mix of the senses i.e. touch and smell, but produce no recognizable faces or imagery of the self. No ghoul has ever reported fully remembering one, nor any semblance of their true past beyond the haunting leftovers.
Begin Transcript:
A Compendium of Hell’s Derivates
While there are many theories on the demonic nature of ghouls,
The true source is surprisingly Human.
Souls cannot be recreated; rather, they’re Recycled and Reborn
The cycle of ghoul creation started for unknown reasons…
But one thing is Certain:
Natural forces do not change easily.
Raw elements collide with the fuel of life itself until one connects
by His command
A violent injection of pure elemental magic
Rewrites and erases all memory and one’s past, drastically altering the soul…
These new powers lend to the powerful allies of the ministry,
However….
… new powers are a dangerous toy.
While coined as “Feral”, new ghouls would better be designated “Raw”, “Unbound”, and “Lawlessly Dangerous”
First formed, they are still elements;
Torrential, Aimless,
Incapable of coherent thought or rules
-but with time, coherence returns to the individual
Who grows much like a life cycle’s stages without necessarily aging.
The overall cycle is the same per ghoul, yet varied enough each rises differently…
First form: “Raw” – Second form (1): “Feral” – Second form (2) – Third form: “Stabilized”
Catalyst, violent, poor formation – Unaware, wild, chaotic – Conscious; can act like oneself; less raw – fully formed and recognizable
The first form, “Raw”, is notably so violent the devil himself does not release them until stage two.
The second form in stage one of a “Feral” ghoul is much like the forces of nature; free willed and wild, understanding minimal speech.
Take caution: they can be mischievous and cause decent damage.
In the second stage of a “Feral” ghoul, they behave like typical people; however, they’re still very free and may choose to never fully stabilize.
Note: you can tell they’ve reached this stage by presence of a tail and civil habits.
If desired, a ghoul reaches the final form: “Stabilized”. They’re transformed into a stable humanoid body, a form less powerful but safer.
Note: Talented ghouls can change form at will in this stage between secondary Feral and Stable.
When it comes to location, each form is most likely to be found:
Raw: Hell, contained
Feral (Stage 1): wilds/natural areas
Feral (Stage 2): wilds and civil areas
Stabilized: anywhere people go
Seeing feral ghouls is not uncommon, and can even be considered lucky!
They tend to provide free protection to keep their home
Ghouls can only stabilize via ministry ritual;
One can assume they’re ministry members if stable, even off duty.
Ghouls are uncommon, but found most places if looked for;
This seems especially true near ministry placements.
Ghouls only form from adults and don’t “age” traditionally, yet they’re still mortal
Deceased ghouls do not seem to return or recycle.
Summoning intentionally pulls only second stage feral ghouls or stable ghouls from anywhere,
They don’t always like this however (see other guide).
The cycle of ghouls serves a main purpose – as forces for the Dark One, in return for rebirth
However, there are two channels through which they serve.
1) Natural defense against corrupted holy magic
Non-stable ghouls defend at will naturally where they live
2) training to fight, protect, and uphold the ministry’s efforts in the name of the Devil.
Contrary to belief, summonings cannot grab from “nothing”;
Like the creation of a ghoul,
Their element, once developed, is what becomes pulled by nature
The force of such pull is incredible,
A disorientating test of will so great…
…it can render even the most sound minds rather violent.
This is why while some choose to stabilize, others may not;
But should a mind change, they can be freed or re-summoned.
Alternative to wild summoning, one can summon from trained ghouls over feral;
Many ghouls are trained for ministry positions all over, but any can be summoned if unassigned.
Though stabilized, unassigned ghouls are not contractually bound to anyone until assigned.
They’re great for extra work hands and being able to know what kind of team mates you’ll get without leaving it to chance.
Summoning any ghoul however reverts them to feral form, and the challenge to tame them remains the same.
Just because you know a ghoul does not mean an easy summon.
Finally, be warned: forcing unwanted breaking or upholding of a summoning contract
Will have dire consequences.
Aside from rarity of an element, there are “power classes” within each element.
Tiers:
Rarity of an element does not equal strength.
The break down is as follows:
Rare – extreme and dangerous power. These ghouls earn a specialized title.
Quite strong, stand out in their class and very sought after.
Most common tier; average and decent powers that are expectable.
Weak powers, but some uses are applicable.
Uncommon – ghouls who possess little to no powers. Ghouls in this tier may at times suddenly change power tier without warning to any other category.
S-Tier ghouls are quite rare and a sight to behold- truly, they embody nature’s power.
End transcript.

8 TIPS FOR A WHOLESOME SUMMER
1] PRIORITISING SLEEP. You’re sleeping with your mouth closed, because you’ve learnt how open mouth breathing affects your jaw, posture and overall health. You’ve got those little sticky mouth strips from Amazon to help support with keeping your mouth shut during the night and as a result sleeping like a baby.
3] YOU ARE IN YOUR ‘NO’ ERA. Saying no to absolutely anything that doesn’t align with your truth. No to the boozy party because you’ve quit drinking, no to the consuming voice notes and calls with your ‘still’ friends (still broke, still complaining, still getting no where). The more you say no, the more you are creating space for what is meant for you.
4] ENJOYING HOBBIES. You start pouring more into activities that fill you up. The yoga workshops, dance classes, painting, cycling, running, making fermented foods. You're becoming more wholesome, and its from a place of truth and love.
5] LOOKING AND FEELING YOUR BEST. You’re not worried about dropping a little cash on some key items for your summer wardrobe, because you know looking good will only amplify your radiance. This starts at home, sleeping in your best night dresses, wearing the kimono robe around the house. Ensuring your nails toes are clean and groomed, even if this is a weekly at home job. You prioritise looking and feeling your best even if this means waking up a little earlier to get ready.
6] LISTENING TO MUSIC THAT LIFTS YOU UP. Not the songs that keep you in the trap of overthinking him. Spiritual songs, songs of praise, affirmation songs, music with soul. As result you feel more connected to God, your truth, and grounded.
7] MAKING ACTUAL PLANS FOR THE THINGS YOU WANT TO DO THIS SUMMER. That means booking the flights, the train tickets, the restaurant you’ve been wanting to try. Pull out your diary and make the plans. Go live your life. Even if you do this alone, the most important thing is you don’t let this summer pass you by. You live it, you breathe it, you make it as fulfilling and exciting as possible.
8] READING. Having a physical book to read, to travel with, to have close to your heart is the perfect way to expand your mind and take a much needed screen break…Fiction, or Non-fiction, go to the bookstore or library and enjoy the feel of the recycled paper on your finger tips as you indulge in something of interest.
9] REDUCE SCREEN TIME. Whatever your current screen time, the goal is to reduce it by 50%, so if you’re currently on 4hrs per day, get it down to 2hrs. The less time on your phone, the more time in the real world, you’ll find you become more present, and enjoying life instead of being a slave to your device.

Mawile
Mawile (#303)
Muscipulaferrus muscipulaferrus
General Information: Mawile the Deceiver Pokémon, this Pokémon looks benign and pleasing at first, but don’t let this fool you—it’ll use its massive jaws on the back of its head to eat unsuspecting prey! This second set of jaws are actually highly-derived horns that bio-evolved over time to become a second mouth. Only an evolutionary biologist could explain to you how this happened, and that’s not me. These horn-jaws will mercilessly tear apart its prey, and once it does that they’ll secrete powerful digestive juices (like a Venus flytrap) and slowly absorb its food until it is completely digested.
Mawile is capable of mega evolution!
Regular Mawiles average at about 2’00 feet (0.6 M) tall and weigh about 25.4 pounds (11.5 kg). Mega Mawiles are 3’3 feet (1 M) tall and weigh 51.8 pounds (23.5 kg).
Habitat: Mawile prefer to live in caves and mountainous regions, but can sometimes be found living near factories, powerplants, and metal recycling plants.
Life Cycles: Mawile live relatively long lives, with the oldest known ones in captivity being around 50 years old. They are born as singlets or twins to a pair of parents that rear them for the next 2-3 years of their lives. At this point, they move away from their parents to find their own territory. Around 5 years old, the Mawile becomes reproductively mature, and they may incline themselves to seek out a mate. A Mawile may be inclined to have a child every 3 or 4 years. Not much eats Mawiles, and most of their predators (Dusknoirs, Aggrons, Tyranitars, etc.) tend to only hunt them when they’re little or elderly. A fully grown, healthy, young, Mawile is a force to be reckoned with in this part of the food chain.
Behavior: They are not particularly social creatures, but can reasonably tolerate being in small colonies when food is plentiful. Otherwise, individuals are capable of being pleasant enough around those they don’t perceive as either food or threats, but beware: Mega Mawiles are aggressive and vicious and hungry.
Diet: Mawiles are apex predators in the rock/steel/ground-type food web. They successfully capture and eat Arons, Larvitars, Magnemites, Beldums, Klinks, Meltans, juvenile Orthworms, Bronzors, Klefkis, Varooms, Drilburs, Ferroseeds, Togedemarus, Tinkatinks, Bonslys, Roggenrolas, Rockruffs, Rolycolys, Naclis, Geodudes, Glimmets, and Carbinks, amongst others. An acute reader will notice that these are small Pokémon, and that is because Mawiles can only eat what they can fit in their mouths, and Mawiles are relatively small compared to many rock/steel/ground-types that are available. Because of this, they rarely compete with other apex predators of the rock/steel/ground-type food web, like Tinkatons or Onixes and Steelixes, who overwhelmingly prefer to eat larger prey, or rockier ones in the case of Onix. Mawile prefer to eat steel-types, but will eat rock and ground-types if hungry enough. They cannot digest Pokémon who are not rock/steel/ground or at least made of these materials.
Trainers, if you want to feed your Mawile, there is perfectly acceptable store-bought food for them available from PokeBright Foods.
Conservation: Least Concern
Relationship with Humans: Mawiles are strange Pokémon, but are no real threat to humans nor most of their partner Pokémon. Civilizations have long recognized their vital ecological function of eating the babies of dangerous Aggrons and Tyranitars, who are infamous city destroyers when their ire is met.
In the modern age, Mawiles are brought in to recycling yards to feed on the wild Arons that make their home in them. These Arons cause quite the nuisance because that metal was meant to be repurposed, reused, recycled, etc., and harvesting raw metal after it’s been eaten is quite the chore. Mawiles are happy to clean up these nuisances, and as such are somewhat uncommon sights in urban environments.
Classification: Muscipulaferrus muscipulaferrus is the species name for Mawile, which means “metal mousetrap” or “metal flytrap.” The name refers to its trap-jaws and its propensity for eating steel-types.

Person 1:
asking people to write more f/f works themselves in response to the very mild "hey men dominate all aspects of fandom content" is like asking people to recycle more to combat climate change lol
wait... youre telling me i can make my own content? the thing i already do? holyyyy systemic fandom misogyny is solved!!
Person 2:
another important aspect of this is that reading other works is the best way to get inspiration and get better at writing. how are writers supposed to write more f/f when there is nothing for them to work with to begin with
ive witnessed in real time f/f writers get completely burned out and asking if they should write m/m content because 1) it gets more positive feedback and engagement and 2) bigger communities to inspire more works. it's a vicious cycle
and to those saying "just read m/m fic or m/f then for inspo" it just proves our point that u do not understand how queer nonmen's experiences are different to those of queer men and straight people
Me:
Ok first off I'm a woman I know misogyny is real but are you seriously comparing a lack of lesbian fic to climate change also isn't a plurality of m/m fic written by women
Also maybe it's just me but I start twitching whenever I hear 'nonmen' now
And finally there's plenty of f/f stories, they're just not gonna be in the giant ass fandoms with like 1 ½ women. But you can find thousands if you know where to look

We’re so close to Ichigo’s return and Rukia’s bankai!! But in the meantime, here are my thoughts on TYBW Episode 18:
1. Haha yeah, do your job Kyoraku, what exactly have you achieved while everyone’s been fighting for their lives?
2. He directs people to the remaining barracks? Does that mean there are some that have managed to not be replaced?
3. So I have mixed feelings about the Visored captains and their fights so far. On the one hand, we’ve had some really cool bankai moves, and they all have a sort of feral energy that I love, that reminds me they’ve all got some barely constrained Hollows knocking about in their souls.
But on the other I’m not sure they’re really contributing anything? And also the one aspect of their character design—their Hollow masks/powers—doesn’t make an appearance at all! I’m wondering if there’s some in-world explanation for this, like the Gotei doesn’t think it’s a good look for their captains to be traipsing around with Hollow masks and throwing ceros out left and right, but it seems like a real missed opportunity for the Gotei, especially when captains’ bankai were getting stolen.
4. Rose’s technique surprisingly easy to counter. If you can't hear it, then your heart can't be captured by it, or whatever. Kinda reminds me of Tosen's natural counter to Aizen's zanpakuto technique through virtue of being blind. And that, folks, is why the shinigami need to diversify their ranks.
5. RENJI!!!! RUKIA!!!! My loves you have finally come home from the war. Or, should it be you've come home to the war?
6. Love to see the reminder that Rukia can probably deadlift two captains quite easily. Though...since she only took Kensei and Rose, does that mean she left Shuuhei, Ikkaku, and Yumichika back there in the rubble?
7. I do like how Renji embraces the role of villain, haha. There's definitely a kind of return to his roots as an initial villain when he arrested Rukia and beat up Ishida and Ichigo in the beginning, but now we as the audience are cheering him on! Idk, I'm reaching for some symbolism in this fight, since it really doesn't seem that thematically meaningful for Renji.
8. It seems like...a bad tactical move for Mask de Masculine to eliminate all the little Jameses? Like you couldn't have punched Renji a bit further and then attacked him away from your little cheerleaders?
9. More Soul King lore! Did the Soul King give Ichibei his name before or after they cut off all his limbs and sealed him up? Makes me wonder what the Soul King was like back in the day, as an actual sentient being instead of a rock. And wondering if he still has some consciousness these days.
10. What’s with Yhwach turning into shadow when he has to ‘sleep’ (whatever that means)? We know that Quincies can hide in the shadows (somehow, this power is never really explained despite being kinda important to the plot? Or did I miss it?), but isn't this already the shadows, or at least the Wandenreich used to be in the shadows and is now...not? So what is left? Is it just an empty space? Is Seireitei now in the shadows? How come last time he had to sleep all the Quincies went with him, but now they can stay and fight?
11. Interesting how Yhwach seems to be some kind of soul recycler? The souls on which that he bestowed his blood return to him after death, and he assimilates their power to grow stronger. I've always thought that the Soul King's power must be somewhat simliar to this, and perhaps that is why the Soul King can stabilize the cycle of reincarnation, by channeling all the souls through himself or something (if that is indeed what his role is).
So does Ichigo in some ways also have this power, which makes him an ideal candidate for potential Soul King replacement? We know Ichigo has an amalgamation of different species/races as his soul, and is uncannily perceptive of people he fights sometimes; is that perhaps also a hint to his nature? Or is it just that he has the capacity to contain all types of souls which makes him an ideal candidate to be some kind of perfusion pump of souls?

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (Finale!)
Alright, end of the journey, my Google Docs is clean. Finally. I am free.
Click here if you want an explanation of what's going on, or if you wanna loop back to the beginning of the journey.
I feel kind of bad, because "The Timekeepers" is neither my oldest discarded story, nor a favourite of mine either. Whoops.
Bit of an anti-climatic ending, but oh well.
Concept below:
Premise: A story about time travel set in the middle of a war, set between three different factions each based on a different method of timekeeping. All of which are fighting over the singularity that will later become the universe, artificiality brought forward in time. If anyone gets a hold on it, their faction would get to rewrite the universe from the beginning. General aesthetic is shattered mirror/alternate history Earth, lots of different cultural references, but no references to actual people
Cool names for chapters/books:
Let’s Do the Time War Again
A Hand Full of Minutes
Time Waits for No Woman
The Paradox Papers
Some aesthetically appropriate music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGS4G93Q0GI
Faction 1 “The Past”: “The Sidereal Society”
Timekeeping through the tracking of celestial bodies
Sundials, the cycles of the moon, comets
Most well established faction, and by extension the most pretentious
Varying levels of power-up based on rare celestial phenomena like eclipses, blood moons, and the appearance of certain comets
Faction 3 “The Present”: “The Parliament of the Pendulum”
Pendulums, springs and precise pieces of machinery, ticking, tocking
Love their clockwork automatons, usually pair 1-3 with each of their agents
Insects for tiny tasks like lockpicking, foxes and cats for show, horses for transportation and dangerous creatures like snakes and wolves for combat
Probably have the most familiar aesthetic to real-life Earth
Faction 3 “The Future”: ”L.E.D. (Legion of the Exalted Database)”
Multiple different futuristic timelines, from killer robots to spaceships to cyberpunk megacorporations and cyborgs
Faction with the largest amount of infighting, the only thing keeping them together is the other factions trying to tear them apart
Most invested in keeping the timeline as-is, they are the future after all

Recycling: Raw materials from urban mines are becoming increasingly important
Tumblr media
Vast amounts of steel, copper and numerous other metals are built into everyday objects - and after their original use they are an important source of raw materials.
When the smartphone has had its day, it often ends up in a drawer - "one can always use it again". According to the Bitkom[1] digital association[2], around 210 million old cell phones were stored in households in Germany last year. 87 percent of the citizens had at least one discarded mobile phone. That number has more than doubled since 2015.
The drawer cell phones belong to the so-called urban mine. In contrast to the classic raw material mine, it describes the man-made raw material deposits: "All goods that we humans have ever created," explains Britta Bookhagen from the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR)[3]. These so-called anthropogenic stock or urban mines[4] include bridges, cars, houses, washing machines - and also smartphones. Gold, copper and nickel can be extracted from mobile phones, for example, and steel in particular from cars and bridges.
When strategically considering the urban mine, it is initially irrelevant "whether the goods are still being actively used and will only be released in the foreseeable future or whether they have already reached the end of their useful life," writes the Federal Environment Agency (UBA)[5] on its website. Metals and construction minerals in particular often remain in infrastructure, buildings and everyday goods for a long time. "Over the decades, enormous stocks of material have accumulated in this way, which hold great potential as a future source of secondary raw materials."
Large dependence on import
According to the UBA, the German economy uses around 1.3 billion tons of materials domestically every year - this includes products such as cars as well as pure raw materials. The Federal Republic of Germany is heavily dependent on imports, especially for metal and energy raw materials, as can be seen from the latest BGR raw materials annual report from December[6]. Especially when it comes to newly mined metals, Germany is almost completely dependent on imports.
But: the raw materials in the world are finite, international competition is growing, costs are rising - as is the pressure on natural areas and their ecosystems. The recycling of metals or building materials, for example, can therefore help to conserve the earth's natural resources - and at the same time reduce greenhouse gas emissions, groundwater pollution and biodiversity loss, says Felix Müller, who is responsible for urban mining at the Federal Environment Agency.
And an expansion doesn't just help the environment: "The vision is to become less dependent on raw material imports, rather we should become real raw material producers with secondary extraction. In this way, we can also open up a new economic field,” says Müller. According to him, the anthropogenic stocks of Germany are enriched with around 550 million tons of material per year.
Far from sustainability
The expert says: "As long as the material stocks are growing so much, we are still far away from a sustainable circular economy. But the growing stock holds the immense potential to close material cycles much better in the future than we have been able to do so far. We now have to set the course and adapt the framework conditions.” The federal government is therefore currently working on a national urban mining strategy.
"Mining" in the urban mine is not done with a bucket wheel excavator and pickaxe, but through recycling - and thus to a certain extent it is also a task for society as a whole, says the geologist Bookhagen. But she makes it clear: "Urban mining refers to products at the end of their lives." Only when all other ways, such as repairing or reselling, have been exhausted, does recycling start - "please don't put it in the drawer," says Bookhagen.
There is currently a veritable pot of gold in the German drawers. In a study from 2020, Bookhagen and her colleagues came to the conclusion that the around 200 million smartphones in German drawers contain around 3.4 tons of gold, 1300 tons of copper and 520 tons of nickel.
Material for ten years of production
Researchers at the Institute of German Economics in Cologne[7] calculated in a report published on Monday[8] that the value of the metal in unused cell phones is around 240 million euros. With a view to the material value of the smartphones sold in 2021 of 23.5 million euros, the drawer phones could cover the material requirements for new smartphones for more than ten years. However, the authors limit the calculation themselves: the reality is different, "since not all drawer cell phones are recycled and are also completely recyclable".
That is exactly the greatest difficulty in urban mining, says the expert Bookhagen: "It is very difficult to estimate which raw materials will come back to us, and how and when." On the one hand, it is not at all clear how much steel or aluminum was used in a car or a washing machine 50 years ago, nor how it makes the most sense to recover and process it. Better data is needed here. "One thing is certain: the urban warehouse is growing and has a high recyclable content."
The extraction of raw materials from the urban mine has a lot of potential to become less dependent on raw material imports and rising costs, says Bookhagen. Germany and Europe are doing well compared to other parts of the world. "But one mustn't forget: even if we could get everything out of the urban mine, that wouldn't cover our raw material requirements," the expert continues. The hunger for raw materials is too great for that.
