The Kings House (Jaidan)
Quinta: I’m not sure what to be more mad about, you in jail or that you don’t trust me? Jai: Trust you about what Mum? Devan: Here we go Quinta: Maxiene, you don’t trust me knowing you have a little crush Jai: So you are not mad about me being in Jail, but are because I like Maxie? Quinta: Well I know why you were in jail and yes Jai: Can I get new parents?
Quinta: Now why would you want that? Jai: Because I was arrested tonight for trespassing Quinta: I know that already Devan: Yep she knows son Jai: Shouldn’t you be mad? Quinta: No, why is it that I can’t know my son likes his friend?
[Cookie scratches his ear] Jai: Because if you know, the entire country club knows, which means everyone knows. Quinta: Is that all? Jai: No, I just don’t want Maxie to know because if she finds out she will hate me, I don’t wantto lose her because I caught some juvenile feelings

The Emmy nominations are actually really good. Same with the Bear season 2: Best Comedy: Lead Actor in Comedy(Jeremy), Lead Actress in Comedy(Ayo, she is the frontrunner, but Selena or Jean have a shot of taking that), shout-out to Liza (Tina) and Lionel (Marcus) getting first nominations 🥰🥰🥰.

Top Jewelry Looks from the Women at the 2024 Emmy Awards: Stunning Red Carpet Moments
Top Jewelry Looks from the Women at the 2024 Emmy Awards: Stunning Red Carpet Moments
The 2024 Emmy Awards are back, and so are the top jewelry looks! After last year’s SAG strike reshuffle, we’re finally seeing the stars step out this fall, and they did not hold back.  Bulgari Serpenti necklaces slithered across the red carpet on everyone from Saoirse Ronan to Maya Rudolph and Da’Vine Joy Randolph. Of course, diamonds kept things timeless, but it was the bold pops of color—think…

Dear President Biden,
We come together as artists and advocates, but most importantly as human beings witnessing the devastating loss of lives and unfolding horrors in Israel and Palestine.
We ask that, as President of the United States, you call for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Gaza and Israel before another life is lost. More than 5,000 people have been killed in the last week and a half – a number any person of conscience knows is catastrophic. We believe all life is sacred, no matter faith or ethnicity and we condemn the killing of Palestinian and Israeli civilians.
We urge your administration, and all world leaders, to honor all of the lives in the Holy Land and call for and facilitate a ceasefire without delay – an end to the bombing of Gaza, and the safe release of hostages. Half of Gaza’s two million residents are children, and more than two thirds are refugees and their descendants being forced to flee their homes. Humanitarian aid must be allowed to reach them.
We believe that the United States can play a vital diplomatic role in ending the suffering and we are adding our voices to those from the US Congress, UNICEF, Doctors without Borders, The International Committee of The Red Cross, and so many others. Saving lives is a moral imperative. To echo UNICEF, “Compassion — and international law — must prevail.”
As of this writing more than 6,000 bombs have been dropped on Gaza in the last 12 days — resulting in one child being killed every 15 minutes.
“Children and families in Gaza have practically run out of food, water, electricity, medicine and safe access to hospitals, following days of air strikes and cuts to all supply routes. Gaza’s sole power plant ran out of fuel Wednesday afternoon, shutting down electricity, water and wastewater treatment. Most residents can no longer get drinking water from service providers or household water through pipelines…. The humanitarian situation has reached lethal lows, and yet all reports point to further attacks. Compassion — and international law — must prevail.” – UNICEF spokesperson, James Elder
Beyond our pain and mourning for all of the people there and their loved ones around the world we are motivated by an unbending will to stand for our common humanity. We stand for freedom, justice, dignity and peace for all people – and a deep desire to stop more bloodshed.
We refuse to tell future generations the story of our silence, that we stood by and did nothing. As Emergency Relief Chief Martin Griffiths told UN News, “History is watching.”

This anon is Portuguese :D
So there's a few tidbits that I really enjoy:
- In Portuguese, there's a word that inspires a big part of our culture (music, literature, paintings, you name it), which is saudade. It describes the feeling of longing for something that is gone, may it be temporarily or permanently.
- We have quite a few legends in the country but my favorite is about the death of Inês de Castro. For context: one of our Kings, D. Pedro I, fell in love with his arranged wife's aid, Inês de Castro. But since Inês has ties to the neighboring kingdom, Pedro's father feared a loss of independence and had her assassinated in the Quinta das Lágrimas.
Now the legend is about the consequences of the assassination: D. Pedro went mad in his grief, battled his own father and hunted after the assassins. He only caught 2 of them and proceeded to execute them by ripping their hearts out, one through the front and the other through the back. He also declared Inês queen and had her corpse be sat on the throne and her hand kissed by the court. There's even records of this, if I recall correctly.
- We have a genre of music called the Fado, very celebrated in Portugal. Unfortunately it's not as popular anymore but it's still a iconic part of our culture here. I don't personally know much about it though but I do encourage looking into it, if anyone wants to listen to a few of those songs :]
- We have had plenty of amazing writers: poets like Fernando Pessoa, novelists like José Saramago, all pretty influential in Portuguese culture but none as important as Luís de Camões (Portugal Day is even on the day he supposedly died). This man was a poet and one of his works, The Lusiads, is pretty much THE Portuguese piece of literature. It's considered an epic, which has over 1k stanzas total and is a hero-ified tale of the first travels to India that passed below South Africa, back in the 15th century.
Aaahhh these are all wonderful! I wanna read more about Inês now ( ; ω ; ) (and I'm def gonna hunt down The Lusiads and read up on it!!) Thank you for sharing!!! <3

TODAY (10 of June) IS PORTUGAL DAY WOOOO🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹
More specifically Day of Camões and Portuguese communities
So who was Camões?
Luís Vaz de Camões lived in the 1500's and died 5th of July of 1580, and no-one is sure when he was born, but we think it was 500 years ago so that makes today extra special.
He was born into a lower class noble family, and was the man who wrote an epic poem called Lusíadas , (LIKE THE ODYSSEY OK??? ) one of the 2 WRITTEN BY THE PORTUGUESE!!!! (The other one was written by Fernando Pessoa, and it is very nice as well, and talks abt how amazing we are hehe)
It was finished in 1572, and talked about the discovery of the way to India by sea (we did that), and mixes it with some elements from the roman gods, and its amazing I 100% think everyone should read it. It was all written on 10 verse stranzas/strophes all with 10 metric syllables so yeah impressing. It contains a lot of history as well, and well known stories (atleast in Portugal) like the romance of Pedro and Inês.
THE ROMANCE OF PEDRO AND INÊS
This is a real Romeo and Julliet kind of story, where Pedro, the heir to the throne of Portugal, and he gets and arranged marriage with a Spanish princess, and in her court comes a lady named Inês de Castro, and they fall in love and she becomes one of his mistresses. Except she was special, and he spent a bunch of time with her and 2 kids with her. Then his wife dies and Pedro refuses to remarry (he had kids with his official wife too so no big deal right? wrong) and his dad is afraid that he marrys Inês, since their marriage would endanger the kingdom's independence, and it was church wrong cause they already had kids. So he murders her. Well he sends someone to murder her and she dies. Sad. BUT in Lusíadas it is VERY DRAMATIC AND SHE MAKES A SPEECH ASKING THE KING (D. Afonso btw) TO SPARE HER AND WOW ITS AMAZING
Irl she was assassinated in "Quinta das Lágrimas" (in Coimbra), which translates to "Farm of Tears" (it rlly was sad) and there are some stones on the fountain where she where she was killed (maybe) that are red and legend says it is her blood that stained those stones forever (heartbreaking ok)
THEN YOU THINK PEDRO WAS HAPPY?? NO. THAT MAN WAITED UNTIL HIS FATHER DIED AND HE WAS KING SO THAT HE COULD SAY THAT HE HAD MARRIED HER AND SHE WAS THE QUEEN.
I mean TRUE LOVE OK??
She was coronated post-mortem and her body was moved to a grave that Pedro had made for her and him where they forever would be together LIKE OMG TELL ME THATS NOT SWEET
And he also assassinated the man who killed her except one, who he later pardoned near his death
There is also a story (it's just a story, not real) that he pulled her out of her grave, gave her fancy clothes and a crown and made every noble person kiss her hand as a sign of respect to the queen (it didn't happen but IMAGINE THAT OK) When in reality he made a big parade while we was moving her body.
ANYWAY
It is an amazing book I won't say more because this is already too long but I CAN , JUST ASK!!
Yeah, good Portugal day to you!!!
Tagging some people because this took way too long for no-one to see ok

IF YOU READ THIS FAR PLS REBLOG TY!!!
