Quilt top is all sewn up but still needs a good press. Despite the warping, I’m pretty pleased with it and I think my friend will like it regardless. No clue how I’m going to quilt it!

A one block wonder wall hanging. I used some striped fabric and loved how it turned out.
(There are two Ironman arc reactors in there because I just couldn’t help myself lmao)

My quilt top is 4x bigger than I originally planned but it's done! I am now patching together a back with leftover materials and will be attempting to actually quilt for the first time!

Okay, remember how I said "you should wash and iron your fabric first"? Well here's my exception to that rule: quilting.
For quilts I recommend using 100% cotton whenever you can. Don't wash it (unless the sizing they use gives you a reaction in which case wash that shit.) Iron it before you cut it. Some people also starch it but I'm not one of those.
Iron your seams! This made the biggest impact on my finished product, quilting or sewing. When you're done the whole top, iron it again.

Smooth like baby's bottom. Your quilting will go easier if your seams are flat.
Now here's the magic. Once you're done quilting and binding, that's when you wash it.

See that lovely crinkly texture? That's not from the thread of the quilting, that's from the fabric shrinking slightly after it was washed and dried. I'd you don't want that effect, then you should wash your fabric first so it does all it's shrinking before you cut it. Either is fine, just a difference of opinion.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE HEADCANONS!! jade and kalim are my favorite characters and they in particular gave me so much joy. out of curiosity, whats your favorite way to knit? :) -the previous anon
I do continental and I will forever be a magic loop stan (magic loop >>>> dpns and I will die on this hill). I used to be a REALLY prolific knitter, always had something cast on, and there was one year where I somehow managed to make several pairs of (ravelry link) Fireweeds socks in the space of like a month for holiday presents. but I have early-onset arthritis and it started to really hurt my fingers, so I fell off and don't do nearly as much anymore. :(
mostly what I do these days is mini projects, like little lace panels or doll clothes/accessories that I can finish relatively quickly. I might not have the time or ability to do, like, full colorwork socks anymore, but I still like making stuff!

~~~.~🌙~.~~~ || Zora (Amunet) - Dislyte || self request ::)
Wooo!!! Another post!!!! Shocker, haha ::> I got kinda burnt out since I was dealing with a lot of school stress lately, and then I got really sick! I don't have a very good immune system which makes sickness a lot more frustrating and last a lot longer so it absolutely took out all my motivation for this stimboard. AND, when I finally got the motivation back, there was some weird bug where whenever I would save my draft on tumblr and leave the "drafts" tab or let the page reload, it would revert back to the version before I saved it no matter what I did? Which would make me have to find all the posts I had to link again, and it happened like... four times. So, lots of crazy stuff delaying this next post!!! But regardless, I finally finished <3333 and I'm very happy! My girlfriend got me into Dislyte, and I fell in love with Zoras design immediately<333 She's soooo pretty ::D I had to make a stimboard for her with the coziest stims <3 Hope it's worth the delay ::)
DIY Fabric Spray Starch: Starch adds crispness and structure, providing body to cotton and linen items. It aids in ironing, easing the process of Quilting & Sewing.
Fabric Spray Starch Recipe
1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch 2 tablespoons water (from the measured water) 1 3/4 cups water ¼ cup potato vodka (Any vodka will work)
Instructions: Mix the cornstarch with the 2 tablespoons of the measured water and whisk until smooth Heat 1 cup of water on stovetop until boiling Slowly add cornstarch mixture while whisking constantly Cook for about 2-3 minutes, whisking constantly. Mixture should be cloudy in color and will be slightly thickened. Whisk in an additional ¾ cup of water and remove from heat. Let cool, add vodka. Stir well. Pour into a fine mist or adjustable mist spray bottle. Shake before using. It settles when it sits. In my experience, it lasts a full 6 months and then it gets sour and needs replacing.
About a year ago I made most of a quilt top and then haven’t touched it since. Naturally, the most logical next step was to start a completely unrelated and significantly more complex quilt top.
And I now present the beginning of: Space Cats!
Tumblr media
This one block took me all frickin day, so as I maybe eventually work up the other 19+ I’ll try to post updates. So stay tuned for more space cats maybe.
