I've made a realization. It feels dumb that I haven't realized it until now.
When you're watching a movie on a sketchy website, and you see p*rn pop-ups, it's because the website thinks the viewer will click on it because they're attracted to it. NOT because the website is trying to be more annoying and give the viewer an extra challenge to test if they REALLY want to watch the movie.
I've been treating the P*rn pop-ups like fnaf jumpscares this whole time.

I gotta say, props to the Homicipher team for truly, completely, utterly understanding their target audience. The game reviews are wall to wall positives of the "who's the target audience for this, you ask? ME", the tag is similarly stocked, and I wanted stuff in the game that similar games wouldn't deliver and Homicipher always had an answer. It's got some rough spots but it's so good 👌

star wars is so good because it has a built-in deus ex machina trope that is frequently referred to by people in that universe. Did you want us to struggle to decide on what choices we'd make each playthrough? Because that's me. I love so much of what happens and it's hard to make choices and I usually love how it all plays out!!
Oh for sure— or more like, what I wanted was for you guys to follow through on the decisions you make. Y’all deliberating and struggling is just an added bonus for me haha
And on that note (sorry to derail this ask anon)— there was an ask sent to our inbox wondering why I disabled rollback, and why I’m forcing you guys to save scum instead of giving ya’ll a QOL feature present in most VNs.
To *that* anon, sorry! I had a whole response drafted but I accidentally deleted it and so I’m gonna respond to that here since this ask was somewhat similar.
And to that end I say— it’s exactly as you had stated then. It’s because of intent! And I’m not going to enable it because of that very reason.
Keyframes has a theme and a goal— and that is each of your choices eventually lead to a bigger picture. They don’t seem like much now (or they do— I love seeing all of your reactions to the replayability lol) but they all eventually snowball to how much your character has changed and the kind of relationship they have with others.
You said it’s the same thing as saving, but I disagree haha. To me, saving— at the very least— marks a moment where you thought you could do something different. For all the aha cringe in the following statement— that’s your Keyframe buddy. You’ve used a precious save slot for an opportunity to change.
Of course, I don’t want to encourage save scumming— but I also don’t want to make it easier for you guys to take back your choices. Because then what was the point of making this game in the first place?
Yadda yadda, reload a save file if you want to see what the other options lead to. But otherwise, I encourage you guys to just play while looking forward as much as you can. Enjoy what is currently happening, don’t dwell on the what ifs, and just follow through. If things go well during the campaign, this IS the start of your next two years.
Anddddd that’s all I’ll say about this matter! People can continue to try and convince me otherwise, but if you’re asking me to compromise the theme I wanted to convey with this game just so one can more easily see what other options lead to— then haha I’m afraid that’s not gonna work on me.
