💖 NUTRITION & WELLBEING EDITION - 10 WEEKS UNTIL 2025 - GLOW UP SERIES [WEEK 10] - 💖
So we’re 10 weeks till 2025, the new year is fast approaching, your energy levels are in the gutter and despite mentally wanting to change your life there’s just something keeping you stuck. You wake up and it’s the same story different day, tired, hungry, moody as hell.
While you might mentally want to change your life, your body needs to be on board and to do that it’s gona need the right foods, drinks and nutrients to have you functioning at your optimal level. Taking drastic action when it comes to changing your diet is how you’re going to see drastic results in your energy levels, productivity and overall wellbeing…
The foundations:
🛌 SLEEP: All those late night movies before bed, Netflix and chill, love-is-blind binging needs to stop immediately. You need a set bed time and you need to be consistent. Waking up and going to sleep at the exact same time every single day. I recommend 10pm - 6am or somewhere around there.
🥱 Sleep with your mouth closed. Use mouth strips from amazon if you dribble, snore, or struggle to sleep properly - breathing through your mouth is most likely the culprit. It’s not natural and disturbs natures rhythm which is breathing through your nose. Mouth strips have been a game changer for me, and highly recommended.
🚫 No screen before bed. This is obvious but those doom scrolling morning and nights are over. Switch it off, read a book, pray, meditate, do what you need to. This is about resting your body before bed so you can sleep well and function at your best the next day.
Sleep supplements: Magnesium oil spray or tablets before bed
🍴 FOODS & DRINKS: 2 litres water MINIMUM per day. Absolutely no alcohol for the next 10 weeks. Strict diet of vegetables, fruits, protein and healthy fats, high quality meats and fish. More herbs into your food. Seeds, whole grains such as Chia, Flaxseed, Pumpkin seed, Bulgar wheat. More pre-and-probiotics. Sprouted veggies. Snack on nuts. No sweets, no cakes, no carbs. No bread, no pasta, no rice, no gluten. No nothing that is not a whole food, or from the earth. You are your own doctor when it comes to food, so you will know what is best for you. Above is the closest diet to nature and has changed my life. Eating vegetables in season. Removing western foods, removing vegetable oil, only drinking structured water, herb teas, and freshly pressed veg juices. Changing your diet might mean you stop eating out, you cut the takeouts, you spend your evenings researching meal preps for Keto, or healthy diet. Your life will completely change when you start feeding your body ALIVE foods, instead of nutrient deficient, processed food that keeps you craving more. Yes you are going against the grain. You will be the minority, but what are the alternatives? Stay binging? Stay eating crap? Stay feeling crap?
Supplements:
Chronium, Berberine for support with blood sugar
D3 + K2, B12, Vitamin C 1000mg, Turmeric, Probiotics,
DIM, Milk Thistle, Selenium, Iodine Drops, Omega 3, Mega GLA for women’s health.
Other:
Get full blood panel done to see any deficiencies
Invest in a continuous glucose monitor from Amazon - see how your body is responding to foods you are eating in real time.
🏃🏽‍♀️EXERCISE: There is no way around this. You need to do some fucking exercise. Even if you start with 10k steps per day. Just do it. Once you’ve switched up your diet you absolutely WILL have more energy. Join a gym, set the intention, put reminders on your phone affirming you ARE someone whoo does exercise and works out. Leave your gym clothes out before bed. Set yourself up to win. Find a friend or someone to work out with. Look on YouTube for a workout if the gym is not possible. Just try your best. This is a mind over matter. ~You got this.
🧘🏽‍♀️ Finally…STRESS FREE LIVING…
You can eat all the healthy foods, do your 10k steps but if you are involved in a stressful life, those stress hormones are going to come and f**k shit up. You have to remove stress where possible. This is the NUMBER one health destroyer. Stress literally makes is ill. It depletes your energy, exhausts you, and keeps you in survival - not much different to the animals living in the wild. Your life can be so stress free once you realise you are actually in control of a lot more than you realise. Blocking HIM. Saying no to hanging out with HER. Hanging up the phone. Removing yourself from the drama. Quitting your job. Changing your course. Deleting social media. Switching off the news permanently. Distancing yourself. There is SO much you can do to remove stress. But it’s completely on you. You have to take control if you are serious about changing your life.
That’s all for this week! Next week more advice on your pre-2025 glow-up.

Erewhon, 2800 Wilshire Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90403
Tumblr media
I like Erewhon a lot but it’s super expensive. On the other hand, they do carry products that you can’t find elsewhere and their own extensive selection of prepared foods, pizzas, sauces, soups, juices, bread, sushi, salads, etc. And if you have dietary restrictions, it’s like heaven for people who seek gluten-free, soy-free, low carb, nut-free, raw, keto, etc. The juice/coffee bar, pizzas and prepared foods look wonderful and you can order smoothies, juice, etc. Even their bouquets are gorgeous.
The aisles are narrow but they’re crammed with products that are “free from artificial preservatives, synthetic pesticides, ripening agents, growth hormones, irradiation, fumigants, fungicides or other additives. Any processing, packaging or transportation and storing must also ensure the retention of maximum nutritional value.” You can also find alternative health and beauty items, The store is clean. The clientele look clean and healthy. But if you compare prices, Erewhon is expensive compared to other markets like Whole Foods or Gelson’s.
My picks:
No 1 rosemary water ($3.49): Sparkling water infused with rosemary, no sugar added, from the UK, simple and nice
PUMFU pumpkin seed tofu ($7.79): Rich pumpkin seed “tofu” alternative
Tempeh ($3.49)
Contactless pickup and delivery offered within 10 miles of the store. Online ordering and valet parking available. They have outdoor seating. Members can save if they spend a lot at Erewhon.
4 out of 5 stars

I've been on a chocolate kick lately. 😳🍫 Going through my stash and enjoying a variety of keto sweets 😍 but portioned out and in moderation at least. 👌
ChocZero is a favorite because it's reasonably priced compared to other "keto products" - and the most delicious sugar free chocolate of any I've ever tried.❣
Yes, I still have holiday white chocolate peppermint chips! 😁 I seriously stocked up on those before they sold out last winter. 😅
The coconut bark and pecan bark are my two favorites. Very rich, so a really indulgent treat - and perfectly portioned for total choco-satisfaction! ❤
I like that they're individually wrapped as single servings. 👍
The KissMyKeto Pumpkin Seed & Sea Salt dark chocolate bars are not overly sweet, and a nice sweet & salty combo. 🍫
I love those, but they're expensive so a much more rare treat. The bars are huge though - and 3 servings per bar. ✔
The only other thing I might get at KissMyKeto 💋 is their mct oil. It's the ONLY one with a pump, and it comes in a glass bottle.
Have you tried their new keto loaf bread, btw? 🍞 I haven't, but I don't eat even low carb bread much, except simple homemade recipes... Curious if it's good! 👀
Anyway, that's my confession for the week: chocolate, chocolate, chocolate! 😅

At least I'm keeping it sugar free & on track... 😉😘

11/2 - What does Healthy eating look like to you? How close are you toward those goals?
I thought this would be an easy question but I found myself going into deep thought over it instead of being superficial. I’ve worked on my nutrition quite a bit over the past few months. Healthy eating in my mind was just focused on not eating too much junk (pizza, ice cream, fast food, etc.). Focusing on things like macros was akin to calorie counting and made my head hurt 😆. When I did a green smoothie challenge in July, it really opened my eyes to how much I was really missing in my diet.
Although in my mind I was making healthier choices (seltzer water over soda, no sugar in my coffee, whole grains over white bread/pasta), I wasn’t incorporating as much fruits and veggies as I should have. Right now, a healthy meal for me is usually tuna fish over mixed greens with boiled eggs or vegetable curry with rice. I’m making a conscious effort to continue drinking green smoothies for breakfast (my favorite being spinach, pineapple, and mango) and avoiding snacking on processed foods like chips.
11/3 - Describe a Typical day’s meals / snacks for you. Is this in line with your goals?
On a good day, I’ll have a green smoothie for breakfast, protein mix/peanuts/pumpkin seeds, apples and peanut butter, or larabar for snacks, and then a salad or veggie stir fry for dinner. This is a perfect day for me. Totally in line with eating more of a variety of foods and avoiding sugary snacks. Doesn’t happen as often as I’d like but I’m gonna keep working on it.
11/4 - Have you tried any formal eating plans (Keto, Intermittent fasting, Weight watcher etc.) in the past? How did they work for you? What did you learn from the experiences?
Let me first say that I hate counting calories so any plan that would involve that was automatically crossed off the list of things to try 😂. I’ve done intermittent fasting on and off since January. It has worked well for me because it’s super flexible and keeps me from eating too late in the evening. I noticed a huge decrease in how much I ate (and even what I ate because I got really picky about meals to break my fast with). This is something I can definitely stick with in the long run.
I tried Keto in August. I dropped weight without much effort but it’s not sustainable for me. I can see myself incorporating some aspects of it here and there in certain meals (like having a Keto smoothie with lots of protein and healthy fat - coconut oil is amazing) but I can’t say oh yeah I can avoid bread or certain carbs for the rest of my life. Like that’s crazy to me. I’m toying with the idea of becoming a pescatarian because I love seafood. I’ve already moved away from eating red meat and I’m slowly doing away with poultry.

INs & OUTs WHEN ON A KETO DIET
Tumblr media
Ketogenic diet - Keto diet
The ketogenic diet (keto diet) causes rapid weight loss.
It is something extreme so you should know its benefits and disadvantages and perform it under supervision.
 What is the ketogenic diet?
It is one in which food should be low in carbohydrates and very high in fat that induces a change in the main source of energy and metabolic status.
Its objective is to create a ketosis situation similar to that of fasting, which can be achieved either by a reduction in food intake or by a reduction in carbohydrate foods. The latter situation is the one pursued by the ketogenic diet (keto diet). Burining fat can be made easy by Keto Burn which does an amazing job at belly fat reduction.
The body, in the absence of sufficient carbohydrates as fuel (glucose), will deplete glycogen stores and the main source of energy will become the burning of fats in the liver.
You will get as a result the so-called ketone bodies (ketones) that you will distribute, as a nutrient, to the brain, muscles and other organs. It will have caused you to enter ketosis.
 Ketogenic diet menu
When preparing a ketogenic menu, your food should contain: carbohydrates (5-10%), fats (60%) and proteins (30-35%).
If we take into account that in a normal diet almost half are usually carbohydrates, the change of diet is important.
You should avoid bread, potatoes, rice, pasta and fruit to the fullest.
 Allowed Foods
The foods allowed in the ketogenic diet, or keto diet, will be mostly fatty and with some protein. The list will be as follows:
1- Vegetables with few carbohydrates: spinach and in general green leafy      vegetables, avocado, cucumber, cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, cabbage, tomato, onion.
2-Blue fish, rich in polyunsaturated fats: salmon, sardine, anchovy, mackerel, trout, tuna, pomegranate, pork rind, bonito, swordfish.
3-Meat and sausages: chicken and turkey, but you can also eat fatty meats.
4-Eggs and mayonnaise.
5-Fatty dairy products such as cream, butter, goat cheese, cheddar, mozzarella or yogurt without sugar.
6-Nuts and seeds: nuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds.
7-Virgin olive oil, coconut oil and avocado oil.
8-Salt, pepper, spices, mustard
And as in the keto diet the important thing is the type of food consumed (mainly fat, and some protein) and not so much the total calories, it is not so necessary to have examples of ketogenic diets of 30 days, or 50 days, that They are rigid and make compliance difficult. You can combine these foods as you find most convenient or appetizing for your menu, but yes, keeping in mind to diversify enough during the days or weeks that take it into practice.
 Forbidden food
In the ketogenic diet, the following carbohydrate-rich foods should be limited:
1-Fruits: contain sugars, in the form of fructose, which is a carbohydrate.
2-Those who have more and should avoid: date, fig, grape, mango, cherry, banana, tangerine and apple.
3-Those who have less and can ingest from time to time (from less carbohydrates to more): lemon, cranberry, raspberry, strawberry, watermelon, grapefruit and melon.
4-Bread, pasta, flour, rice.
5-Cereals: The ones that contain the most carbohydrates are puffed wheat, muesli, wheat bran, rice flakes, wheat and barley, Corn Flakes, and oat flakes.
6-Potatoes.
7-Legumes (lentils, chickpeas, beans, peas, beans, beans, beans)
8-Sweets and cakes, pastries.
9-Soft drinks, sugary drinks and juices.
10-Processed foods and prepared foods (often with high levels of unhealthy fats and carbohydrates)
Benefits of the ketogenic diet.
Lose weight - Lose weight
It is not necessary to count calories, and it is much more effective to lose weight this low carb diet than low fat diets.
Many people who follow this type of weight loss diet lose more than twice as many pounds as those who only follow a low-calorie diet. And it allows them to eat and maintain a healthy weight.
It is faster to lose weight than those other diets based on eating foods rich in protein and low fat.

Note
Would you be able to make a list of recipes for baking that are gluten/dairy free? I have a hard time finding recipes from scratch for things like bread, muffins, pies, or cakes.
Hi there! Thank you for submitting an ask!
This one was a fun one to do for me as I scour the internet for recipes...was a bit of a two birds one stone for me since I love baking for my friends and many of them have the same dietary restrictions.
