He says he did not obey Godâs word before he was afflicted. Before problems came into his life, he went astray from God. The challenges he faced caused him to start regarding Godâs divine word. Psalms chapter 119
Teth
65 TETH. Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O LORD, according unto thy word.
66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.
67 Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.
68 Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.
69 The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart.
70 Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in thy law.
71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.

(Psalms 119:67)
Sometimes it can feel like the way God is dealing with us is a little on the harsh side.
We know from His word that He has nothing but good plans in store for us and that He Himself is good; but there are times when you can find yourself in situations where it's intimidating, painful, and all of the doors that leads out of that situation are closed and locked!
I've been there before, so I know just how displeasing those situations can be. But when the Lord gives us time to work on something ourselves and we don't do it, He'll step in and put us in a place where we are forced to deal with it.
Those situations are not so much aimed at punishment but rather at correction.
God knows how stubborn and rebellious His children can be - even towards Him. And He knows that unless He intervenes, we will continue to wander away from Him and His commandments and could even find ourselves facing consequences that we will regret.
So what seems like a unbearable and unloving situation is actually God's merciful hands correcting us.

12th February >> Mass Readings (USA)
Monday, Sixth of Week in Ordinary TimeÂ
(Liturgical Colour: Green: B (2))
First Reading James 1:1-11 The testing of your faith produces perseverance so that you may be perfect and complete.
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes in the dispersion, greetings.
Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, when you encounter various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. And let perseverance be perfect, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. But if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and he will be given it. But he should ask in faith, not doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed about by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord, since he is a man of two minds, unstable in all his ways.
The brother in lowly circumstances should take pride in high standing, and the rich one in his lowliness, for he will pass away âlike the flower of the field.â For the sun comes up with its scorching heat and dries up the grass, its flower droops, and the beauty of its appearance vanishes. So will the rich person fade away in the midst of his pursuits.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 119:67, 68, 71, 72, 75, 76
R/ Be kind to me, Lord, and I shall live.
Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I hold to your promise.
R/ Be kind to me, Lord, and I shall live.
You are good and bountiful; teach me your statutes.
R/ Be kind to me, Lord, and I shall live.
It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn your statutes.
R/ Be kind to me, Lord, and I shall live.
The law of your mouth is to me more precious than thousands of gold and silver pieces.
R/ Be kind to me, Lord, and I shall live.
I know, O LORD, that your ordinances are just, and in your faithfulness you have afflicted me.
R/ Be kind to me, Lord, and I shall live.
Let your kindness comfort me according to your promise to your servants.
R/ Be kind to me, Lord, and I shall live.
Gospel Acclamation John 14:6
Alleluia, alleluia. I am the way and the truth and the life, says the Lord; no one comes to the Father except through me. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Mark 8:11-13 Why does this generation seek a sign?
The Pharisees came forward and began to argue with Jesus, seeking from him a sign from heaven to test him. He sighed from the depth of his spirit and said, âWhy does this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.â Then he left them, got into the boat again, and went off to the other shore.
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

"The Crib." From Mark 7: 17-23.
Jesus calls a crowd to Him, then He leaves it behind. To leave is to leave Egypt, but that is not what it means for Jesus: when Jesus leaves, we go back to the Bed. The Bed is a place of darkness that needs a torch in order to have light. Without the Spirit of Light within the flesh a man is but bedding, he is dirt.
The analogy explains why we think the Self is ignited like the fire betwixt the braches of the Cherub Shrub of Sinai:
"The curious noun κĎιββιĎοϠ(krabbatos) describes a mat or make-shift mattress, apparently made from twigs and leaves, since it stems from the Macedonian word γĎιβοĎ (grabos), meaning oak. This same Macedonian word also became the Greek noun γĎιβΚον (grabion), which describes a torch made from a bundle of twigs. Where the Macedonians got this word from isn't clear, but it appears to be not Indo-European, or so say the experts."
Once we attain to the Holy Spirit and make contact, like the Christ, like a forest fire that moves around, the number, duration, and magnitude of the sins we commit should be not too many:
17 After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable.Â
18 âAre you so dull?â he asked. âDonât you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19 For it doesnât go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.â (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)
20 He went on: âWhat comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a personâs heart, that evil thoughts comeâsexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.Â
23Â All these evils come from inside and defile a person.â
The Values in Gematria are:
v. 17: He entered the house by explaining the parable. The Number is 3532, ××â××âââ, gagev, "a gaggle, quacking, rolling in."
"These are the sins. And they are not blunders."
"The verb ׊×× (shagag), to err, occurs only four times - in Leviticus 5:18 and Numbers 15:28 it's tied into the word meaning "unintentionally". Psalm 119:67 speaks of a going astray that was rectified by getting subsequently afflicted (or an affliction contracted from going astray), and Job 12:16 speaks of the misled and the misleader - but the derived noun ׊××× (shegaga) occurs more frequently.
Originally this noun must have meant something like an error or deviation, but in the Bible it's one of the words for sin, occurring nineteen times. The principle word for sin is ××× (het), which occurs thirty five times. But the root of the latter, ××× (hata), meaning to miss or miss the way, is used about 580 times.
That means that in the Bible the concept of sin was seen as missing the point or missing your purpose, much rather than deviating from an ethical or moral standard, or making a blunder of some sort."
v. 18-19: Are you so dull? The Number is 7822, ×â×××â, zahab, "gold." Gold is on purpose:
"Gold was erroneously deemed worthy of worship (Exodus 32:3-4), even though YHWH was described as to appear in golden splendor (Job 37:22). The Psalmist asserts that the words of YHWH are to be considered better than gold (Psalm 19:10, 119:72), and Jesus explains that although gold is great, it derives its greatness from something greater: the temple sanctifies the gold and not vice versa (Matthew 23:17).
Gold items were valuable but gold also held an enormous value to the wisdom tradition. Very long ago observers noted that gold is the only substance known to man that doesn't transmute into something else. And since everything else, sooner or later, changes into something else, gold was seen as the ultimate result of all change: perfection, in one word. Gold held that status until the Word of the Lord came along (or rather: descended from where it had always existed) and surpassed the extent of natural evolution."
v. 20-22: He went on. The Number is 11589, ×××××â ââ ââ"These you will squeeze out."
We mentioned the Eucharist symbolizes the feeding of the soul with spiritual food from the Torah and the Gospels. These turn water into blood as the nutrients are absorbed by the frontal lobe, the "stomach of the soul", where the conscience lies. As the blood fills the chamber and the capacity for empathy and moral conduct grow, the sins leave the system, much like the wine leaves the wine press, leaving the skins and seeds behind, so is the skin shed and the seeds of wickedness are cast aside.
v. 23: 'All these evils come from inside and defile a person.â The Number is 1904, ×××֜פ֜ץ×â, "climb, or you will lose."
See above, to climb is to seek God on Sinai, where the meaning of life can be found. It cannot be purchased in a society that does not break bread or press the wine. Such a culture will remain in the crib, in the dark.
Jesus warned the Romans were decadent and corrupt and this was why God sent Him, to enforce the Decrees and destroy them in the process. If only America was capable of doing the same, the entire world would be a better place.
