K League 2 Seongnam signs Brazilian striker Gabriel from Ansan
Professional soccer K League 2 (2nd Division) Seongnam FC announced on the 18th that it has signed Brazilian striker Gabriel (27).
Gabriel, who stands at 184 centimeters tall and weighs 78 kilograms and is known for his fast speed and dribbling, joined the Ansan Greeners of the K-League 2 in February and completed his adaptation to the domestic stage with four goals and two assists in 18 games.
Before coming to the K League, Gabriel played in South American leagues, including Brazil, where he recorded five goals and two assists in 59 games over five years.
Seongnam head coach Lee Ki-hyung said, "We've been struggling with a series of injuries in the offense, and we expect Gabriel to fill the void well."
Gabriel said, "I joined the team late, but I know the club's goals better than anyone. I'm looking forward to working together to help Seongnam rebound."
Gabriel joined the team's training after completing a medical test at the club's partner hospital, Bundang Best Hospital. 토토사이트

thinking this labor day about all the athletes in women's sports who didn't have a stable league, who were only making decent money from a spot on their national team, who had to fight to get even a fraction of what they deserve. who spent their prime without a club league or the infrastructure to propel the sport. who came of age after title 9 in the usa [forcing schools to fund women/girls’ sports], the ones who fought for cbas and are only seeing big change at the end of their careers or after their careers concluded. who didn't have the media attention before, but are now showing just how much they can sell out stadiums and arenas. the players who played year round because overseas teams paid athletes what they were worth. athletes who endured and reported harassment but the league never took appropriate action. athletes who never had the media attention or ability to monetize their talent but who had careers that were just as impressive as the stars of today. who did it without the help of the science, technology, and medicine we have today. who set records with less support and fewer games in a season, which will be broken by kids who have had personal trainers since high school. athletes who played great games that are no long available to view, their talent no longer archived and accessible for young or new fans. athletes who still don't have a league or are just getting one in 2024. athletes who took it upon themselves to create change for which they will never reap the full rewards.
#this is across the board stuff#it's about the wnba the nwsl the pwhl and all the preceding leagues across the sports#im not athletic or good at sports but i do love the social sciences#it is the natural evolution of sport but there are lost generations#like in soccer abby wambach marta christine sinclair none of them had a club league in their prime#like cynthia cooper is the only other true guard that won mvp and she won it twice but you can't watch games from back then#women's hockey in north america is a newer story and perhaps more complex but still the stories of going from chartered planes in college#to not that in what is supposed to be a professional league#this is one of the reasons why i think we need more athlete's memoirs#like of course i want the juicy off court stuff i'm human but the amount of organizing and advocacy that athletes have had to do#nwsl#wbna#pwhl#and i want to be clear i'm not subtweeting specific players here in a mean way it's just facts#that if you are playing more games per year in your prime and you have more advanced knowledge#about recovery and training you have more opportunities to raise the bar#i actually get emo about this stuff all the time but i figured it's topical today

Solarpunk and Sports
Something I see discussed in Solarpunk communities again and again is the topic of "sports". Which sounds weird at first, until you think about it.
In general the main reason people discuss this topic so much is, that there is a lot of tribalism in sports - tribalism that at times leads to violence. There is also the fact that sports will usually have winners and losers, which is inevitably going to play into some sort of hierarchy. And those hierarchies? Well, they do not necessarily gel well with those anarchist ideas.
However, I also think that sports are actually mostly a good thing. Well, at least some sports are (American Football most certainly isn't, and I would argue that some of the more violent sports are not either), because on one end they lead to a sense of community, and on the other hand they also allow people to develop more self-confidence.
What I actually think is the main issue with sports right now, is very connected to capitalism. Or said differently: Take capitalism out of sports and sports themselves are gonna be fine.
See, this heavy tribalism that we have around sports is actually encourages through capitalism. Because if you have that big ass tribalism, folks are gonna spend a lot more money on their team. They'll buy more merchandise and they'll also be more likely to buy tickets for games and what not. Hence, more money for the investors.
The capitalism also is what leads to the professional players to be so strongly exploited. After all, they are merely things for the investors to make money with, so their personal health does not actually matter in any way or form.
Without capitalism involved, though, there is also not much of an incentive to make all those big leagues. Because those are in the end mostly about selling you stuff.
I mean, in the end... For the most part - even if we ignore how many sports organisations are corrupt as fuck - people are more likely to win, if they are from a place that can afford the best training equipment, the best trainers and also the best players.
So, I think in a Solarpunk context, it would make way more sense to have teams that are not artificially constructed by some investors. Just let people play and compete not for some artificial price, but just... to have fun. Isn't that what sports should be all about?

I find the fact that Jamie is named after his dad really interesting, not even because the identity thing (although that too) but because of what it implies about James' side of the equation, specifically in regards to when he came back into Jamie's life. I've seen a few people mention they were surprised to find out that he was already around when Jamie was 14 since so many kids wash out of the academy at that age, and while I completely see where they're coming from, I think it actually tracks pretty well with what we know about him.
James wanted a kid. Obviously he didn't want the reality of raising a kid, but the fact that he named Jamie after himself suggests that he started off with some kind of theoretical commitment to his son and, more importantly, to the idea of his son as the carrier of his legacy. He has also consistently shown that he just... doesn't really understand how football works in general and how Jamie's career works in specific. I don't think he'd look at his 10-14 year old kid and reasonably consider the odds of him making it all the way through the academy; I think he'd do the same thing he did when he pressured Jamie to score all the goals for Man City, a team composed of extremely talented players where that kind of behaviour would probably get him kicked out, and decide that obviously his kid was better than all those other kids and the normal rules didn't apply to him.
#ted lasso#jamie tartt#james tartt (derogatory)#to be clear i do think he'd be around a lot more once jamie got closer to having a professional career#but i can see james taking an interest once he found out jamie had some kind of potential#and was old enough that he could get away with not doing any real parenting#james doesn't know how football works i say like i'm not a canadian who has watched a grand total of one soccer game#it was the women's final at the 2020 olympics and we won :)#literally my only soccer knowledge is stuff i've osmosed from the actual soccer/football fans in the fandom#thank you actual soccer fans#kvetch oc

yea I believe in the first amendment, EXCEPT.. maybe it should not be applied to professional sports games… Nobody should have to listen to that teenage boys critical opinion of EVERY imperfect play. Nobody should have to hear him call the players whom you BOTH came to support “sloppy fucks”. Nobody should have to be the ones witnessing his advice for the coaches and players when he is 200 rows away from them and has never played hockey in his life.
If you go to a pro sports game you WILL be within hearing range of at least 2 people like this and that is sad. People are there to have FUN. If you didn’t know, NOBODY wants to hear you shout “You suck!” at YOUR team. Nobody. You are seriously ruining someones night. Please think about other peoples feelings when you are in public. Thanks.
