tumblrinas when the disability disables you: oh wow that's so cringe. Stop doing that. Actually, I have disability too, and I can do it, which means you're just using your disability as an excuse. I'm morally correct therefore to mock you for being disabled and using tools and aids to help you. I'm not ableist, I'm just saying the hard truth 😊

As it turns out, the gods of the subway system are smiling down on TK today because their usual train is running just late enough for them to squeeze on at the last minute. He tries not to be too smug about it as he watches Carlos lean against the door of the packed carriage as it speeds through the tunnels, pretending to read the news on his phone.  He’s only made aware of the pretending part when Carlos looks up at him after a few minutes and whispers, “So, when can I return the favour?” Cottoning on to the innuendo, TK tries not to look too pleased and begs his body to behave – getting a hard on around so many people would be kind of problematic. “Tomorrow night,” he replies. “I’ll be expecting something good because that floor wasn’t easy on my knees.” Carlos fixes TK with a challenging look. “I’ll think about it,” he says softly. “I have time tonight, while I’m home alone with nothing else to do.” “I’m ditching my mom,” TK murmurs, trying to keep his tone conversational. “I just remembered I have plans.” “Mhm?” Carlos hums, evidently trying to retain the veneer of being politely engaged. “With your di—” “TK.” TK snorts. “Don’t start something you can’t finish, baby.”

It's been a long year and it's only February…
Well, it's time to put this out there: I've had a fairly shitty few years (like, haven't we all, obviously), but it's included a long, expensive legal battle against unscrupulous cysts, which is finally concluded satisfactorily save being left somewhat skint on the other side of it. Doesn’t help that said battle meant that I had to move house - not exactly a low activity on the expense and stress scales…
So I'm looking for extra work, to help while we wait for the Luxury Space Communism to kick in (I'd settle for Universal Basic Income or an end to the Housing and Cost of Living Crisis, tbh).
Things I do to a professional standard include:
Creative Mentoring and Tutoring (writing and performance techniques, especially for poetry - bespoke or standard workshops available for groups as well as one-to-one).
Project Management (feeling overwhelmed by a project you want to get off the ground and/ or run within budget and timescale? I can help with that).
Business Change Management (you need to expand or shift your business focus? I can help that happen in a well-managed fashion).
Performance Poetry (got a bunch of poems, 18 years' experience delivering them live, and a nice voice).
Writing to Commission (especially poetry, but I write both fictive prose and essays too).
Voice Acting and Narration (I've acted in audio dramas and narrated short stories, training videos, and so far one documentary).
Book and Pamphlet Production (I operate a small press).
Basic website setup and maintenance.
Training on any of the above.
I have a sliding scale of rates depending on customer circumstances, and you can book me for a free initial consultation via my website: https://www.fayroberts.co.uk/crass-commercialism/services/
And if you fancy just sending me money because you're generous, I have a ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/fayroberts

I have to rave about @dlbookediting's work!
I sent her over a copy of my upcoming book, Pride Before a Fall, for a final once-over before the ARC release. Dominique was incredibly thorough, even taking the time to double back and ensure that her comments were consistent. She even went ahead and read the first book, 9 Years Yearning, without prompting so that she was fully caught up.
What I especially appreciated about Dominique's comments was her ability to offer solutions that strengthen my voice rather than change it.
Tumblr media
Her suggestions considered both my narrative vision and readers' needs. As writers, it's so easy for us to get caught up in what we want our text to look like without thinking of our readers, but Dominique seamlessly bridged the gap between my intention and an audience's experience.
I loved her reactions to the writing, as this is so helpful for knowing what potential readers may find intriguing. These small comments can be quite the ego boost, and I was glad that she sprinkled them in with her thoughtful critique.
She also caught inconsistencies that I hadn't even considered, explaining in depth while they may throw readers off without dictating what I could do. This is just one example of her methodical approach:
Tumblr media
At times, I can get a bit too ornate and experimental, but Dominique gently brought me back down to earth, ensuring that I didn't leave my readers confused.
From her comments, I could tell that she had thoroughly pondered every single word and its total impact on the text. It's rare to find an editor with such a keen eye and a true appreciation for their client's work. Her work felt much like a dedicated seamstress gently mending any tears in a tapestry, ensuring it shines just as the creator intended.
I'm deeply grateful for her help in sprucing up Pride Before a Fall right in time for its ARC release, and I strongly encourage you giving her services a try!
You can also check out Dominique at @philosophika and read pieces of her novel-in-progress over at @thesorcerersapprentice!

✨️ Percival Stanton for the OC ask game, please?
He has something of a crow's knack for finding Shiny Things. But his particular Shiny Things are usually small objects he thinks other people would like, or that make him think of people. For himself, Shiny Things are typically books, poetry, music, plants, and various creechur-related things (I've been calling them "monsters" but that's not really the best/most accurate term).
He has, however, somehow trained himself to be able to resist buying/acquiring all the Shiny Things he sees (he probably has some kind of philosophy about how it's still precious even if he doesn't have it because it causes him to see beauty everywhere) and be at peace about it. I hope to be him when I grow up/j

wip wednesday
thanks for the tags @hippolotamus @three-drink-amy @ambiguouspenny @lemonlyman-dotcom @catanisspicy 💖
here’s a snippet from my beloved unprofesh which @welcometololaland and I are very close to finishing!!!
“You’re beautiful.”
Carlos is back, kneeling beside him on the bed and holding a warm, wet washcloth above TK’s stomach and asking whether he can clean him up. He says yes because no one has ever offered to do that before and because TK doesn’t think he could deny Carlos anything, not when he looks at him with soulful brown eyes and kiss-swollen lips. He wipes his stomach off gently and cleans between his legs and it’s all so intimate that TK wants to scream.
He follows Carlos back to the bathroom afterwards, standing in the doorway, smiling at Carlos when they make eye contact in the bathroom mirror as he washes his hands.
“Stay?” he asks, when Carlos turns around.
“You want me to?” Carlos says, sounding surprised.
TK takes a step forward and wraps his arms around Carlos’ waist, dropping a kiss on his shoulder before tipping his head back so he can still see his face. “Yeah. Maybe we can go for round two later.”
“You’re still up for round two?” Carlos arches a brow, smirking. “Maybe I didn’t do my job well enough.”
“Oh no, you did an excellent job. I’ll give you a five-star Yelp review,” TK quips.
“Round two is for later, unless you don’t want to.” He lets go of Carlos, suddenly unsure whether he’s completely misread the situation and Carlos is maybe trying to find a way to say no.
Carlos stops him from backing away with a hand on his shoulder, sliding it up his neck to cup his face. “TK, I want to stay.”
not sure who hasn’t been tagged yet but let’s try @never-blooms @liminalmemories21 @iboatedhere @rosedavid @jesuisici33 @orchidscript @xthelastknownsurvivorx @sherryvalli @cricketnationrise

The first chapter will be posted Sunday, 13 August 2023.
Borne of our actual hatred of business development and networking events, @rmd-writes and I have created (Un)professional Services: 6 chapters and 60,000 words of corporate-Tarlos chaos, to be posted over 6 weeks.
This project was the result of many many hours of no one telling us "no", including each other, and the answer to everything being "yes, and then what if...":
There are hot people at networking events?
We make Owen the most chaotic he’s ever been?
Gwyn lives and roasts TK at every opportunity?
Carlos spirals like a zoodle?
TK has to endure seeing Carlos in a suit all the time?
A law firm makes corporate branded condoms?
Fire safety training is an ongoing and slightly unexplained theme?
Stay tuned to find out the answer to some of these and more.
A thousand forehead kisses and fruit baskets for @celeritas2997 for letting us derail the gc over this so many times and for beta reading!
Summary below just because we like to tease:
TK Strand has been an attorney long enough to know that networking events with accounting firms offer little more than terrible wine that he doesn’t drink, uninspiring small talk and a stack of identical-looking business cards.  Until he takes Nancy up on a bet and winds up having all of his preconceived ideas about business development being challenged by an accountant who is very far from boring. The Tarlos Professional Services AU.

Academic writing service
When it comes to online essay writing services, one platform that students may come across is EssayMarket.net. This website claims to provide assistance with various academic writing needs, including essays, research papers, and dissertations.
Before using any writing service, it is essential to exercise caution and conduct thorough research. Consider the following factors:
Reputation and Reviews: Look for reviews and feedback from previous customers to gauge the reliability and quality of the services provided by EssayMarket. This can give you an idea of the experiences of other students and help you make an informed decision.
Plagiarism Concerns: Ensure that the writing service guarantees original and plagiarism-free content. Plagiarism is a serious academic offense that can have severe consequences, so it is crucial to choose a service that values academic integrity.
Communication and Support: Check if the platform offers a convenient and reliable means of communication with the writers. It's important to have clear and open lines of communication to address any questions, provide additional instructions, or track the progress of your paper.
Pricing and Policies: Consider the pricing structure and refund policies offered by the platform. Make sure you understand the payment process and any potential extra charges to avoid any surprises.
Personal Responsibility: Keep in mind that while using a writing service can provide assistance, it is ultimately your responsibility to learn and improve your own writing skills. Use such services as a learning tool and reference, rather than relying solely on them.
