Last batch. I forgot i already gave 1/3rd of the collection to a lgc for a display… so im missing quite a lot. Last pic is what ive decided to keep. I plan to touch up on them, add some flair and have them in my display cabinet.
Warmachine is what got me back into wargaming. All i knew before was warhammer, and it was too expensive and the games were too long. Warmachine offered a fast paced, engaging, and calculating alternative which felt cinematic, narrative, and impactful. It was my first wargame community, tournament, and also where i found a local club.
When the game, and community, began focusing in tournament and competitive play, the game started to change. And as MK3 was released it was unrecognisable. Games became tedious, boring, lacking soul and imagination. I lost interest quickly after the new edition.
Ive always looked back at these models and remember the good days, and so i kept a number of models which remind of such:
The original battlebox (sorscha, juggs, and bombard); epic sorscha (never used yer but was my favourite caster all round); kodiak (my one and only jack i used); kayazy (early purchase and my favourite unit, so much character!); koldun characters (ice wizards were very interesting to me, and khador was not the ‘good guys’, so these wizards got up to no good); and mikhale, the jr caster i got for backing the (not so good) warmachine pc game (he also is a splitting image of a iron kingdoms character my friend played as).

Gravedigger Rangers, Gravedigger Commandoes, Patriot Light Warjack, Valiant Heavy Warjack.
Trenchers are paratroopers now, because "if there's any force in the Iron Kingdoms who'd be the first to try jumping out of a perfectly good airship into battle, it'd be the trenchers".
Getting Metal Slug vibes from this art.
Apparently have a unique mechanic where you airdrop supplies and special ammunition to units during play. The Valiant doesn't even deploy with one of those back-mounted weapons, you pick one and air drop it in during play.

Nicia, Hound of the Abyss
For the beastmen a while ago, I'd slapped Quickshade over white primer and I got a nice sepia tone, so I did the same to some other stuff in the queue. The armor looked so nice already at that point that I was afraid to ruin it and painted just about everything else first, and I really wanted to keep that to myself so I don't have any WIP pictures of this.
There's something I find striking about the muted colors, though the (metallic) weapons probably could use a bit more contrast vs the armor (maybe a dark plasma glow effect on the gun?)

I was recently gifted an air brush and a compressor. After trying it out with a blue contrast paints I had, I bought some base colors to play with. Really excited to break into air brushing. I had prices it out many times and decided to stick with brushes 😂

Finally sitting down and working on these again. Glueing the foliage to the brass rods required Just enough effort to kick in the ol’ executive disfunction and get me to procrastinate it for a bit there. Being between anime seasons helps though, so here they are all leafed up. Let the glue sit for a bit here, then take them outside and give them a spray of varnish on just that green stuff. Get them stable enough to go back and paint on watered down white glue.
Additionally got my hands on a Power Pod finally, to be the lone non-Faction model in my Waste army. Doesn’t mean it’s not required to look the part though so promptly carved a bit split in it and hollowed it out a bit. Lightly glued to a temporary home with the outline of a base traced on so I don’t go out of bounds.

Eiryss, Angel of Retribution by Privateer Press for Warmachine
(this model is discontinued, hence linking to its game stats page)
I wanted a winter theme for this, so I knew it had to be blues and greys. I was going to do a more realistic white/grey snow camo but adding the blue gives it better contrast against the grey stone (I mean it's the point of camo to blend in but this is an art piece) and ties it to the rest of her outfit.
I could psychoanalyze here about why I paint the sorts of characters that I do... (there is definitely a rhyme and reason to it) ...but I won't ;)
Here's some WIP pictures.
Tumblr media
I spent so much time filing down the 2 pieces of the base so the brick pattern would align across them and it still doesn't, but you don't really notice it because the misalignments are between the front and back of the model. Those 2 pieces didn't fit together very well either, so I had to fill in that big gap across the top.
It looks like people usually assemble this so the right hand is a little bit higher. I rested the crossbow on her thigh just because I prefer having 2 points of contact (over spending time drilling holes for pins) and I think it looks a bit more natural.
And a couple of pictures before I ruined it putting the snow on... the snow looks way better in the pictures than it actually is; I'll try to fix it once I actually get some proper texture/flock.
(The light box really brings out the potato in my potato phone camera, doesn't it.)

Fairly certain this happened in the lore of steam punk table top miniatures game “Warmachine” and it’s slightly more fantasy sibling “Hordes”. The whole thing for Warmachine are steampunk robots (called Warjacks) powered on magic coal that comes from the long dead husk of a slain dragon. If I remember right the dragons remains have a corrupting influence on the people who live near it who are themselves a faction in Hordes.
i think that killing a dragon should have catastrophic nuclear-fallout level environmental consequences tbh. their blood should scorch and wither the earth with fire and poison, the toxic fumes released as they decay should choke the land and all nearby living creatures, and the entire landscape where they fell should be transformed into a blighted wasteland where bleached leviathan bones loom upwards out of the ground as a warning that can be seen from miles away, the boundary markers of an exclusion zone.
