Why Choose Private Transportation Services in Chicago?
In the bustling city of Chicago, where the rhythm of life never seems to slow down, the demand for reliable and efficient transportation services is more pronounced than ever. With its vibrant culture, towering skyscrapers, and a myriad of attractions, navigating through the Windy City can be both exhilarating and overwhelming. This is where private transportation services in Chicago come into play, offering a tailored solution that caters to both residents and visitors alike.
The Convenience of Private Transportation
One of the most compelling reasons to opt for private transportation services in Chicago is the unparalleled convenience they provide. Unlike public transportation, which often adheres to set schedules and limited routes, private services offer a level of flexibility that is hard to match. Whether it’s a last-minute meeting downtown or a spontaneous trip to the Magnificent Mile, private transportation allows for quick and easy travel without the hassle of waiting for buses or trains.
Moreover, private transportation services eliminate the stress associated with parking in a crowded city. The ease of being picked up and dropped off at your desired location is a significant advantage, particularly for those unfamiliar with the area. Imagine stepping out of your hotel and into a comfortable vehicle, ready to explore the city without worrying about finding parking spots or navigating traffic. This seamless experience enhances the overall enjoyment of visiting or conducting business in Chicago.
Comfort and Luxury Experience
When considering transportation options, comfort is paramount. Private transportation services in Chicago often provide a fleet of high-end vehicles that cater to various needs and preferences. From sleek sedans to spacious SUVs, these services ensure a comfortable ride, complete with amenities that make the journey enjoyable.
Passengers can expect plush seating, climate control, and sometimes even complimentary refreshments. This level of comfort is particularly important for business travelers who need to arrive at their destinations refreshed and ready to engage. Additionally, private transportation services often prioritize cleanliness and maintenance, ensuring that every ride feels luxurious and welcoming. In a city as dynamic as Chicago, having a comfortable and stylish mode of transport can significantly enhance one’s overall experience.
Safety and Reliability
Safety is undoubtedly a top concern when it comes to transportation. Private transportation services in Chicago prioritize the well-being of their passengers by employing experienced drivers who are well-versed in local traffic laws and routes. These professionals undergo rigorous training and background checks, ensuring that passengers can travel with peace of mind.
Moreover, the reliability of private transportation services cannot be overstated. With the ability to schedule rides in advance, passengers can rest assured that their transportation will be there when needed. This is particularly advantageous for airport transfers, where timing is critical. Private services often monitor flight schedules, adjusting pick-up times accordingly to ensure timely arrivals and departures. In a city where time is of the essence, the dependability of private transportation services stands out as a major benefit.
Cost-Effectiveness for Groups
While some may perceive private transportation as an expensive option, it can actually be quite cost-effective, especially for groups. When traveling with colleagues or friends, the cost of hiring a private vehicle can be comparable to purchasing multiple public transport tickets, particularly when considering the added convenience and comfort.
Furthermore, many private transportation services offer packages and flat rates for group travel, making it easier to budget and plan for outings. This is especially beneficial for corporate events, conferences, or family gatherings where logistics can become complex. By investing in private transportation, groups can save both time and money, allowing for a more enjoyable experience in the city.
Personalized Experience
Every traveler has unique needs, and private transportation services in Chicago excel at providing a personalized experience. From the moment a passenger books a ride, they can specify their preferences, whether it’s a favorite route, specific music, or even a particular type of vehicle. This level of customization ensures that each journey is tailored to individual tastes, making it all the more enjoyable.
Furthermore, drivers are often knowledgeable about the city, capable of offering recommendations on attractions, dining options, and hidden gems. This local insight can enhance the overall experience, turning a simple ride into an informative tour of Chicago. Passengers can engage in conversation, ask questions, and immerse themselves in the local culture—all from the comfort of their private vehicle.
Conclusion
In the vibrant and ever-evolving landscape of Chicago, choosing the right mode of transportation is crucial for a seamless and enjoyable experience. Private transportation services in Chicago offer a unique blend of convenience, comfort, safety, and personalization, making them an ideal choice for both residents and visitors.
As the city continues to thrive, having a reliable transportation option is more essential than ever. For those seeking a trusted partner in navigating the bustling streets of Chicago, Ame Ground Transportation Services stands out as an excellent option. With a commitment to providing exceptional service and a fleet of high-quality vehicles, they ensure that every journey is as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Flirts IV
Mapi León x Reader x Ingrid Engen
Summary: You have to go
It's not that you don't want to be there because you do.
It's that you have to go away for a surgery.
There's some rich woman in California who needs you to operate on her cat. She's paying an extortionate amount for your services and sending a private jet to pick you up.
You love those kinds of pet owners, the ones with enough money to fly in the very best if only because of the clear love they have for all of their pets.
But they're also clients you can't deny.
If someone wants to fly you out for enough money to keep a family afloat for a year, someone with enough influence to make or break anybody's career, you can't say no.
Even if your girlfriend is fighting for Euro's qualification.
"Do you have to go?" Mapi asks, sitting inside of your unpacked suitcase like she was Bagheera in a box.
Honey sits on the bed, head in her paws as she waits, tail wagging, for Mapi to throw her tennis ball.
"Yes," You say, trying to choose between your purple or your blue scrubs," It's a lot of money. Enough for that fancy holiday to the Maldives you guys want to take."
"But it takes you away from us," Mapi whines and Ingrid makes an agreeing noise from over by the door.
"I've travelled for work before."
"You're going to miss my match," Ingrid says and a pit forms in your stomach.
Before this job came up, you and Mapi were meant to be travelling to Norway to see Ingrid's last Euro Qualifiers game before going off in a camper van with her parents.
You'd still make it to the last part, depending on what the labs for this cat came back as but you'd have to miss the match.
You reach out for her, drawing her closer by the waist and resting your head on her chest.
"I'm so sorry, baby. I am, really. I can call up and cancel if you really want me to. I know a guy to recommend instead."
Ingrid sighs, her chin sitting on the top of your head. "No," She says," That cat needs the best care possible. We all know you're the best. Go and be a hero."
"I'd hardly be a hero. It's just surgery."
"Surgery for some woman that clearly adores her pet cat. What you do saves lives. I think that makes you a hero."
"You're so sweet, Ingrid."
"And hot!"
You laugh. "Thanks for that, Mapi. I'm sure she knows that seeing as you tell her everyday."
Mapi shrugs with a smirk on her face. "I'm sure it's nice to be reminded."
Honey whines on the bed and you roll your eyes.
"Throw the ball already. She's getting impatient."
Mapi frowns, waving the ball around.
Honey's eyes dart around erratically to follow it.
"She isn't barking, though?"
You laugh, crossing the space to take the ball and lay a soft kiss on Mapi's lips. "Because she's well-behaved, Mapi. She knows not to bark unless it's an emergency."
You throw the ball up and down to make sure Honey's still watching before you launch it out of the room.
She's off like a shot as Ingrid hauls Mapi out of your suitcase.
You still feel guilty though, through the flight, through the labs, through everything.
The cat is cute one, a little tortoiseshell with an amicable nature and a complete lack of awareness of her surroundings.
You've always been an animal person. You've always loved all of them but living with Mapi and Ingrid has just given you an even newer appreciation for cats.
The checkup happens quickly and the labs are already done and completed by the time you arrive.
Money really does move things along because all the charts are perfect and after what should have been a week long wait to begin, you manage to take a day to get over your jetlag and get to work immediately the day after.
Surgery is simple to you. It's easy and soon enough the cat is halfway to recovery.
You don't quite understand how private planes are hired and sent out, if someone has to book a runway days in advance or if they're open indefinitely.
The original plan had been for you to take a week to do this but now it's all done, you don't quite know what to do with yourself apart from stew in guilt.
You had planned to take your mind off Ingrid's game by throwing yourself into work.
You have no work though and can't help but imagine yourself in Norway with your girlfriends, curled up in Mapi's arms while Ingrid whispers to you.
You swipe away a tear as you head down for dinner, your host gracious enough to treat you to a meal for all your good work.
You've gone radio silent to your girlfriends but neither are surprised.
You're always like that when you go out of the country for work, focused only on your patient. You want no distractions.
Mapi sits slumped in her seat next to Ingrid watching Norway play their last qualifier, sighing to herself as she looks at pictures of the three of you together.
"What's with the pout?" Ingrid teases, running her thumb over Mapi's jutted out bottom lip.
"I miss her," Mapi mutters, feeling a bit like a little kid sulking.
"I know but she'll be here soon and then we go out exploring with my parents before heading back home for preseason. It's not that long of a wait."
"I don't want to wait at all."
"I know but-"
A body slumps down on Mapi's other side and both of them turn.
"I'm not really a fan of this hotdog," You say," It's not bad but I guess I'm not that hungry. Do you want some Mapi?"
You don't get an answer from her because she crushes you into a hug. The hotdog that you regrettably bought squishes between your bodies.
You don't complain though, especially when Ingrid moves into the hug as well, tightening her grip around the both of you.
"I thought you couldn't make it?"
"Money talks," You tease," And the owner felt a bit of pity when I told her that I'd have to watch this match on tv. Chartered a jet for me to come straight here."
"And the cat?" Mapi asks.
"The cat's good. Recovering."
"I'm so happy you're here."
"We're both happy," Ingrid says," So, so happy."
You grin at your girls, the smiling splitting your face.
"I'm happy to be here too."

follow up analysis post to this: @lauraleetaylor !!
i don’t think you can fully understand this concept without touching on 4 things: nat’s upbringing, lottie’s upbringing, and each of their relationships with the group before and after the crash. so i tried to section them, but they also do lead into each other a lot so it’s hard to do exactly :)
nat’s upbringing
compared to most of (if not all) the other characters, we actually hear a lot about nat’s childhood and her upbringing as a whole. we know she grew up in a trailer, presumably somewhere on the outskirts of town considering jackie is suggested to live more in the central, upper/middle-class area and usually these two homes don’t end up situated near each other. we know she had an abusive alcoholic father, and a mostly neglectful mother, although seemingly her mother’s neglect was rooted in fear instead of abusive tendencies like her fathers.
alcoholism and child abuse are two of the core stereotypes projected onto working class people, and by fitting these stereotypes, natalie faces a lot of societal backlash. she herself gets into drinking and drugs, especially following her father’s death, and even takes other measures such as dying her hair to try and distance herself from the pretty shit reality she has to live in.
due to the history of sex work and it’s stigma amongst working class communities, nat is also often stereotyped as a “slut”. even at such a young age, and having not slept with an outlandish number of people. even those who don’t know really anything about her perceive her this way, which is yet another example of the way negative stereotyping is so prevalent amongst lower classes. this is also linked heavily to sexism, of course, but being a teenager who has seen this kind of thing play out time and time again, i find it incredibly hard to believe that this is directed at nat just because they “don’t like her”.
we see how growing up in poverty has affected her life since the very beginning and even well into the adult timeline. she still reminisces on her teen years, visiting her mother and living in a motel instead of somewhere more permanent. we aren’t exactly sure whether this is down to choice or not (it’s implied not), but either way, it’s an example of the same thing.
if this isn’t by choice (which again i do believe), it’s also a clear example of the fact that the cycle of poverty is near impossible to break, even after such unusual circumstances that have presumably changed everything in her life. there is no escape.
nat’s relationship with her personal life is, in my opinion, a strong depiction of this struggle.
lottie’s upbringing
as is made abundantly clear from pretty much the beginning, lottie grew up super wealthy. as in, uber-wealthy. although some of the yellowjackets share similar childhoods in terms of financial status (nat and van, shauna and taissa, jackie and lottie in many ways), lottie’s is considered almost “unbeatable”.
we see this in lots of ways, too - she has maids, a massive house, expensive clothes, private jets. when she needs psychiatric help, it is offered to her immediately and in the most extreme ways. she even spends 15 years in a facility in switzerland because keeping her somewhere ‘average’ is seemingly not enough for her parents.
lottie is also neglected heavily by her father and somewhat by her mother too. she is supposedly raised mostly by nannies and when she is interacting with her parents they aren’t focussed on her wellbeing, only their safety. but there isn’t the same kind of social stigma surrounding this, and it’s made relatively clear.
amongst the upper upper class, being able to neglect your child is essentially admirable. the fact her parents are able to afford full-time childcare is a stereotypical bragging point for the rich, as these services aren’t cheap and the way in which they care for lottie (the quality of the service) isn’t either. she recieves top healthcare and is on full-time schizophrenia medication, which isn’t cheap either. these things sound positive from the outside, but it means she is left lonely.
lottie also doesn’t have the same relationship with her childhood as nat does. she isn’t positive about it, but she doesn’t seem to think about it much at all, instead focussing more on their time on the wilderness. although this is obviously painful in it’s own ways, it does highlight a privilege that the upper class, and lottie, are able to benefit from a lot. although her childhood was lonely, it wasn’t nearly as traumatic.
this is in part due to the fact that she was still technically being cared for, and in part due to the fact that people were celebrating her regardless. lottie’s relation to classism is obviously harder to pinpoint, because she’s not so much on the receiving end, but it does very much link in. (and link to my next point!)
relationships with the group (pre-crash)
lottie isn’t the ‘popular girl’ that people make her out to be. she’s no jackie, not even a shauna. but she’s not a nat, either.
lottie, despite being equally shy, and an equal balance of kind, argumentative and funny, is respected amongst the girls even before the crash. but nat isn’t. where lottie is wearing fluffy jumpers, pink plaid skirts and bunches, nat is wearing leather jackets, red plaid skirts and a bleached ‘mullet’. the two exist in a very similar way, both keeping to themselves socially but still interacting sometimes - it’s just that those interactions are totally different.
people laugh at lottie’s jokes, they trust her, they thank her for what she does for them. at the same time, nat is outcasted. people make up rumours about nat - supposedly because they don’t know much about her, but they know equally little about lottie and don’t do the same to her.
if nat was the one with a psychiatric disorder like schizophrenia, she would almost definitely be being consistently harassed and hatecrimed, but lottie’s family are able to bury it and even if that information did come out, the jealousy of her wealth would still override the ableism - not completely, obviously, but a considerable amount.
general speaking, people like lottie and don’t like nat, because the preconceived notions they have about each of them are so different, and weigh so heavily in lottie’s favour, regardless of who they each actually are.
this isn’t pre-crash, but even in the adult timeline they are still forced into these roles. lottie has enough inheritence and social power to start camp green pine, where she serves as the ‘leader’, and nat is forced to live either in a motel or on lottie’s property- literally until she dies there. it’s a subtle metaphor, and it can also be explained in many different ways, but if you look for it it’s almost always there.
relationships with the group (post-crash)
lottie and nat both go into the wilderness with just as much ambition behind their respective beliefs. if we exclude 2:08 and 2:09 (for the sake of making a fair argument for the bulk of the show so far, i’ll come back to them), nat is as strongly committed to her rationalism and survivalist instinct as lottie is to her supernatural beliefs.
the wilderness cult and lottie’s role in it have very little to no backing, and the few bits they do have can be explained by trauma, chance or other circumstances. nat’s beliefs are rooted in their life at home and her determination to allow them to survive. she has brought them the bulk of their food, water and safety. she has survived without the cult, which is something the others do not believe possible.
the others don’t listen to nat because they have never listened to nat. because it’s easier for them to ignore her ideas and not have to face a. their inner prejudice and b. reality. nat commits to reality because that’s what she’s always had to do to survive. growing up in an abusive household and in an impoverished area, she knows how to use firearms. how to ration and take matters into her own hands when there isn’t food on the table. how to defend herself and others from danger and arguments when there simply isn’t the time or capacity for it.
nat has infinitely more survival knowledge than lottie, but they don’t listen to her, because they don’t want to accept that that’s true. there are so many examples of this kind of discrimination happening against minorities and struggling communities for literally forever, and it’s such an integral part of the yellowjackets narrative and billions of real-life stories, too.
silencing the working class subconsciously because of the beliefs you hold internally is ‘textbook’ classism !!!
regardless of whether or not the girls are aware of lottie’s psychological condition (which i have to imagine at least some of them are aware of, at least by the time they are rescued and she’s immediately sent to hospital), there is little reason for them to believe in her aside from desperation.
now, obviously there’s other ways to explain every single one of these points. that’s the entire purpose of the show. if i wanted, i could write something like this for some kind of prejudice between most of the characters. that’s the whole point, is that it’s up to interpretation! but i personally think that in a world so heavily affected by classism, amongst a group of teenagers from across the classes, and focussing on the way this system of life ages with you despite other circumstances, it feels so important to me at least that it’s highlighted, and especially because it’s done so well whether it’s intentional or not.
i also think it adds so many interesting layers to each of them! i could also talk about each of the characters’ childhoods and societal upbringing individually for literally days so let me know if you’re curious! sorry this is so long! but yes basically, i believe the reason the group believes in lottie and resents nat for her opposing beliefs is classism. xx

#safe as in structural safety engineering and also like not gonna get hit by a car with mixed private and public spaces#also safe as in public places designated for doing drugs and taking a crap safely#(not as in heavily policed)#sustainable as in structural longevity logistical longevity environmental footprint and as in people can actually live their lives there#sustainable as in the city sustains its residents and community#home as in a place that belongs to you and you belong to#home that holds you sustains you reflects you is your community space shares your story#for everyone as in diversity is what makes a city as in everyone deserves a home as in a city is made a home by its many definitions of hom#urban environments should be engineered to the desires of the constituents#... and as a constituent I personall would like less car spaces and more walking spaces please#my home looks like a place where kids can play games in the street#and everyone has affordable groceries in walking distance#where my neighbours have somewhere warm and dry to sleep at night#where people who want to live in a van have somewhere to park at night with clean bathroom access#where the sidewalks are wheelchair accessible and continuously paved#where public transit provides access to other districts#where me and my neighbours can celebrate our separate cultural holidays in public spaces together#an urban environment should be designed together#also I know housing is a crisis but I wish that companies built apartments and stuff slowly and correctly instead of focusing on speed.#and if say for example we have someone who's definition of 'home' involves say a summer home they only visit they have to compromise#living at the density of a city means lots of compromise#but ultimately i think that it being about home kind of excludes many landlords and the like#without excluding local businesses or small landowners who actually do provide services to their tenants#someone who doesn't live there and doesnt agree to belong to the space isn't making a home there with everyone else#they're dictating and policing other people's homes from outside the neighbourhood/city#and that doesn't actually help anyone in the long term#you have to meaningfully belong to the land to claim it belongs to you. to have a say in the landscape#this became a massive rant in the tags lol#maybe i should make an actual post to this effect at some point#I feel like so much modern engineering & design is soulless because it refuses to interact with the community that already lives where it is

The new rules aim to have 25% of new long-haul trucks, the heaviest often diesel trucks on the road, and 40% of medium-size trucks (box trucks and landscaping vehicles) be nonpolluting by 2032, currently just 2% are. The regulation would apply to more than 100 types of vehicles including tractor-trailers, ambulances, R.V.s, garbage trucks and moving vans. The new tailpipe limits are expected to prevent about a billion tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2055.
the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced that thanks to President Biden's Inflation Reduction Act, 41 different drugs will coast those on Medicare Part B less money than it did last year. An estimated 763,700 people on Medicare use at least one of these drugs every year. Some enrollees will save as much as $3,575 per dose.
The Department of Energy announced $6 billion for an effort to decarbonize energy-intensive industries. The investment in 33 projects across 20 states will eliminate 14 million metric tons of CO2 emissions each year when finished. Each project is meant to be highly replicable and serve as a blueprint for future private sector ventures.
President Biden signed an Executive Order to Strengthen the Recognition of Women’s History. The Order will launch a review of all historic sites run by the National Parks Service to determine ways to better highlight the role of women, from all backgrounds, in American History.
The Senate Confirmed President Biden's nominees, Ernesto Gonzalez, and Leon Schydlower to federal judgeships in Texas. This brings the total number of federal judges appointed by President Biden to 190.

The chapel on the left of the altar of the Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ter Zavelkerk in Brussels belonging to the Thurn und Taxis family.
Saint Ursula Chapel, a unique Italian Baroque style chapel in black Belgian marble and white Carrara marble, was built according to a design by Lucas Fayd'herbe (1617-1697). The sculptures are by various southern Netherlandish sculptors. The restored Caritas statue made by Jan van Delen was recently placed back. The statue was confiscated by French revolutionaries in 1795 and therefore returned after more than 200 years.
The von Thurn und Taxis family initiated international postal traffic in Europe. A German descendant is today known as the richest man in his thirties and the largest private landowner in Europe with 28,000 hectares. The powerful 'DHL predecessors' von Thurn und Taxis had the chapels added to the church in the second half of the seventeenth century.
Von Thurn und Taxis (also Thurn and Tassis in Dutch) is a German noble family of Italian origin that acquired great wealth through its activities in the postal system. The current monarch, Albert II von Thurn und Taxis, resides in the Fürstliches Schloss of Regensburg. For two centuries the family was based in Brussels, where they owned a city palace (ca. 1500-1700). The still existing site of Thurn and Taxis was at the time the grazing land for the post horses.
The patriarch of the postal dynasty was Omodeo Tasso, the first family member to be located in Cornello dei Tasso. At the end of the 13th century, he and 32 relatives organized the Compagnia dei Corrieri, a courier company that worked on behalf of the Serenissima (Venice). She provided foot connections between Venice, Milan and Rome, Genoa,... The Bergamots had always occupied a major place in the old Venetian postal service (couriers were called bergamaschi in Italy). At the end of the 15th century they organized themselves into the Compagnia dei Corrieri dei Roma, a company controlled by the Tasso family.
Other members of the family were called to the Papal States to take care of the papal post. They did this from 1460 to 1539. It was two brothers from another branch who eventually took the business to a European level: Janetto and Francesco. As head of the family (procuratore generale della famiglia e società di Tassi), Janetto entered into a contract with Emperor Maximilian I to set up a truly transnational post (1489-90). He had to connect the emperor's headquarters in Innsbruck with Italy, the Burgundian Netherlands (Mechelen) and France. Janetto was given the title Kuriermeister and called on his brother Francesco and his cousin Giovanni Battista. Under the leadership of the trio, an innovative relay service was created that allowed messages to travel at a speed never before seen in Europe. Thanks to a succession of stopping places along the routes, it was possible to constantly change horses and riders. Only the leather mailbag ("Felleisen") was constantly in motion.
Francesco settled in the Netherlands around 1500, after his brother David had prepared the way. Under Maximilian's son Philip the Fair, he became postmaster and captain and had a beautiful city palace built in Brussels. After the government of Spain de facto fell to Philip, he renewed his agreement with Francesco of Tassis. The new postal contract of January 18, 1505 included more destinations and, for the first time, binding order deadlines (extended in winter). The postmaster guaranteed strict compliance with his life. A star-shaped network of postal routes departed from Brussels: to Innsbruck, to Paris-Blois-Lyon, to Toledo-Granada. For the important route to Spain, an alternative was provided via the Alps and the sea in the event of war with France.

Chapter 1
All Stories Start Somewhere
<Prev | Masterlist | Next>
All stories start somewhere, but the beginning isn’t always as interesting, so let’s cut right to the chase. That’s also my name, Chase Fetcher, but you’ll find most people just call me Fetch. Now, let’s rush over the important stuff you need to know.
I got my medical degree in the army
I found out black market organ trade pays much better than a monthly salary
I got busted and lost everything, but people still wanted my services
I’m a quick study and expanded my expertise
Now I’m a modern-day mercenary specialised in kidnapping, “gentle” persuasion, organ harvesting and...waste disposal.
Now, to the interesting part. I thought it would just be a simple kidnapping. Peter Allard, a big shot in the Phoenix underworld, had some beef with Harrison James, a mediocre but strangely successful businessman. It was probably something about money. I didn’t really care. All I knew was that it was about a sum of three million dollars in ransom and my ten percent cut. All I had to do was snatch up James’ son and hold onto him until the ransom was paid. It would be simple, fast, and have a decent payoff in relation to the difficulty.
But of course it was too good to be true. I hit the first snag while I was stalking the target before abducting him. He was fifteen years old and attended a private school, which I preferred to stay away from. Snatching him at home would be unwise as well, which left me with his commute from home to school and back, because he didn’t come outside much besides that. It wouldn’t have been a problem, if it weren’t for his fucking friend. They were always together outside of school, playing around a bit before parting ways at James’ home. I almost considered just grabbing them both, especially upon finding out the friend would be worth a lot more money, but more money usually meant more trouble. In the end I decided to just eliminate the factor...literally.
It was the day to act. I had the two teens in my sight. I needed to get the blond one in my van, and I had to get rid of the redhead. The pair turned into the alley where they usually hung out after school to kick cans while the redhead secretly smoked. It was a quiet street and an even quieter alley, so all I had to do was park my van by the entrance, and carefully sneak up on them. They both had their backs turned. The redhead was poking a dead rat with a plastic tube he’d probably fished from the trash.
“Matt, stop that, it’s gross,” the blond teen said, holding his shirt over his mouth and nose to avoid having to smell anything.
“You’re not the least bit curious?” the redhead replied, poking a bit more.
“I think I’m going to throw up…”
That was my cue to act. I didn’t want to clean up vomit out of my van again, so I had to distract him from getting sick. The actual kidnapping ought to do the trick. I pulled my gun from its holster under my jacket, taking a couple quiet steps closer as I aimed at the redhead, before pulling the trigger.
BANG
“MATT?!”
The teen released a horrified shriek before I was able to silence him, slapping a hand over his mouth and pressing the gun against his back as I pulled him away from his bleeding friend.
“One more peep and you’ll join your friend in heaven,” I threatened. The boy whimpered, but other than that he settled down a bit, even as I dragged him towards my van, only weakly pulling at my hand which covered his mouth. Upon reaching my van, I swiftly opened the side door and shoved him inside, hopping in after and closing the door to conceal us from sight. The teen pulled himself from my grip and tried to crawl away, but I pulled him back by his ankle, reaching for a roll of tape.
“N-no—”
It was a brief struggle, but by the end of it I had the boy silenced with a couple strips of tape and had him pinned against the floor of the van as I tightly cuffed his hands behind his back, before padlocking them to a ring in the floor so he couldn’t crawl anywhere else.
“Mmn!”
“Shut up!” I hissed.
I could hear sirens approach, probably alerted by the gunshot, but still added another strip of tape over his eyes for good measure. I gave him a warning slap when he made a little too much noise, before quickly getting behind the wheel and driving off, blending into traffic to avoid any suspicion. An ambulance did rush past me, but I didn’t really see where it went as I was trying to remember the way back to the hideout my client had arranged. North of the city there was a storage lot that had closed down a couple years ago after it went bankrupt. The new owner hadn’t done anything with it...as far as the city was concerned, but apparently Allard rented it out a lot for things like this.
“Mgh!”
“Keep quiet back there! Don’t make me pull over to beat some sense into you!”
I glared at the boy over my shoulder while I could permit it. He’d fallen to his side, pulling uselessly on the cuffs holding him in place. I rolled my eyes, deciding to ignore him for the rest of the drive as I turned the radio up so I could still enjoy some music over his muffled sobbing and snivelling.
When I arrived at the storage lot, I unlocked the fence with the key Allard had sent me and drove my van to the block of units in the back of the lot, the furthest from the road. Away from anyone that might try to play hero. I could park my van inside one of the larger units, making sure I had room to get out and open the side door as well, though not until I had closed the garage door, concealing everything from sight. When I opened the side door to get Erick out, he was still lying on his side, trying to stay quiet even though his breath picked up as he could hear me right in front of him. I slowly put my hand on his shoulder to keep him down, eliciting a terrified whimper. Music to my ears. I tried not to grin too much as I put a little pressure on him to lean over him and free him from the hook attached to his cuffs. I moved my hand to grab his arm and pull him upright, expecting a fight, but he stayed nice and quiet.
“Up!” I said, pushing his legs to the edge of the van’s floor so he could find his footing before I dragged him out.
I had prepared a couple things for him; a nice chair to tie him to, and the ropes to tie him with. I pushed him down into the chair, to which the boy finally seemed to wake up. He tried to get back to his feet, so I quickly grabbed him by his jaw to snuff out his little resistance.
“Give it up, kiddo, you’ve got nowhere to run,” I growled.
He sobbed defeated and settled down, allowing me to pick up a coil of rope and get to work. I tied his wrists behind his back before undoing the cuffs and putting them aside. I looped the leftover end of rope around the back of the chair twice, before tying it off in a tight knot. I moved to his ankles and tied each to a leg of the chair before ripping the tape off of his mouth. He winced, but didn’t dare to make any other sounds as he took a few ragged breaths. I found a blindfold in my bag before I ripped the tape off of his eyes too, drawing out a yelp. I tied the blindfold over his eyes before he had the chance to blink his eyes open.
“P-please,” he uttered in a soft voice, “l-let me go, please...I— I won’t tell anyone, I promise...please…”
I rolled my eyes, his pleads falling on deaf ears as I grumbled back at him.
“Shut up.”
Erick choked back a sob and held his breath until I stepped away. I had to call Allard to let him know I had the kid, and I could use a smoke.
“Very good, Fetch. I expected nothing less of you,” Allard said after I brought him the news over the phone, “my men will take care of the ransom, as per usual, in the meantime you try to keep yourself busy. I’m sure you can manage that much.”
“I’m confident I can,” I replied, looking back over my shoulder at Erick.
I wasn’t sure if he could hear me, but I didn’t really care if he could. He was fidgeting nervously, testing the strength of the ropes that held him in place, trying to reach the knot that kept the ligature around his wrists in place. But he couldn’t reach it. His breath picked up as a wave of panic took over him. I smirked, flicking the leftover butt of my cigarette aside as I hung up and quietly approached the teen. I slowly stepped behind him, and put my hand on his shoulder, to which he jumped and held his breath. I could see the cold sweat dripping down his neck as he was torn between staying absolutely still and wanting to pull away.
“W-who are you?” he suddenly choked out, “w-what do you want?”
“It’s not about what I want,” I replied, putting my other hand on his other shoulder, watching how his chest rose and fell faster with each breath.
I grinned to myself, squeezing his shoulders a bit as I thought about all the things I could do to him. Allard only paid me to keep him alive, he never said I couldn’t leave him with a couple…souvenirs. I detached myself from the boy and walked over to my van. Right behind the driver’s seat, stood a coolbox, filled with half-molten ice and bottles of water. I took a bottle from the cooler and walked back to Erick. I pressed the cold plastic against his cheek, eliciting a yelp of surprise and fear. I chucked, before unscrewing the cap and putting the lip to his mouth, but he turned his head away. I rolled my eyes.
“C’mon, it’s just water,” I said, “you’re gonna need it, kiddo.”
“W-why?”
I ignored him and grabbed his jaw, savouring his scared whimper for a good few seconds, before once again placing the lip of the bottle against his lips, and tilting it, so he had no choice but to drink, or choke in it.
“Mrrrgn— cough!”
He regurgitated a few sips and coughed, trying to turn his head away, but I grabbed a tighter hold of his jaw, tilting his head back while tilting the bottle further, pouring more water down his throat, not letting go until the bottle was empty. I stepped aside as I did, to which the teen coughed up more water and gasped for air, leaning forward a bit and soaking his shirt. I chuckled, pulling out a pack of cigarettes and lighting a new one.
“Now,” I said, “to answer your question earlier…” I took a drag of my cigarette, slowly blowing out the smoke before continuing. “Your dad owes my client some money, so you and I will be spending some time together until he pays up.”
“A-are you going to kill me…?” Erick choked out between sobs.
“Nah I’m being paid to keep you alive, why else would I waste water on you?” I said.
“B-but Matt…”
“Who— Oh, your friend. He got in my way,” I said.
“I-Is he going to…?”
“Don’t know, don’t care,” I said, “no more questions.”
“But—”
“Rule number one!” I said loudly, talking over him, “if you’re not gagged, only speak when spoken to.”
Erick winced as I raised my voice, quickly nodding. I took another drag of my cigarette, blowing the smoke into his face, watching him choke back a cough.
“Rule two. If you’re not gagged, I prefer verbal answers. I’m not always looking straight at you, so a lil confirmation of you listening would be nice. Understood?”
“Mh…y-yes?” Erick said quietly. I rolled my eyes.
“Hasn’t anyone taught you any manners?” I said, “let’s make that rule three. You’ll address me as sir, understood? Try again.”
“W-why are you doing this?”
“Answer the question!” I shouted, making the teen jump, “do you understand the rules?”
“Y-yes sir!” Erick quickly said, trying to shrink in the chair, but being held back by the ropes.
“That’s more like it,” I said, “the rest is simple, kiddo. You behave, I don’t get mad, and by the end of the week you’ll be back home and we can both forget all about this.”
I took a long last drag of my cigarette, before smirking as I looked at the smouldering end.
“Well, maybe not everything,” I added, before extinguishing it on the teen’s neck.
“OW! P-please, I’ll be good, please!” the boy cried, trying to pull away.
I chuckled, flicking the extinguished remains away while I allowed him to sob. He was just coming to terms with his situation. I could silence him later.
