Hey lovelies! First of all! Happy S2 Anniversary!
I know this is a day late, sorry about that! There's been a lot of chatter over some of the things that David said yesterday-- some folks took it as OFMD was not getting an s3, some people took it as still quite hopeful! I gotta say, I'm loving how much it's given us all something to focus on again. We get to celebrate OFMD-- we get to speculate. I realize it's not a "hey s3 is happening!" but it's hopeful, and what is life without hope? It's kraken era, it's gravy basket, and HOPE is what pulls us OUT of those places! So go out and clown/honk and celebrate if you want to! Take every tweet from David as a good thing! If you don't want to-- that's okay too! But with so many months of "hey we've reached the end of the road" looming over us, it feels like a good thing to think there's going to "most if not all of us would do it again in a heartbeat". This fandom wears hope well, at least I think so. Alright, I'm already late so I'm gonna shush. I hope you all had a lovely anniversary, and the beginning of this week treats you with nothing but kindness lovelies. Take care of yourselves <3

In the pre-dawn of May 6, 2022, SpaceX Starlink 4-17 launched. This particular launch was such that the Giant Space Jellyfish happened. I shot the launch from 135-ish miles away at the St. Pete Pier. I made a 16x24 inch print of this on Kodak Endura Radiance Metallic paper. It is really stunning. And it needs a home. It is for sale on my website. This is a one-of-one edition. There will not be another on this paper. Ever. Because there is no more of this paper. Kodak is no longer making it. This is a chromogenic (C-type) wet process photographic print (light + silver + chemistry = magic!). It needs to find a good home. Maybe your’s?

Supernatural Season 2 Ep. 7 "The Usual Suspects"
Sam and Dean look into the deaths of a lawyer and his wife, who said they saw a ghost before they died. However, after local detectives Ballard and Sheridan find the Winchesters' records, they arrest the brothers for a double homicide before they find the ghost. The ghost visits Ballard. She wonders if Sam and Dean are telling the truth and if she is next.
If you want to watch the series for yourself, stop reading! This post contains spoilers to the storyline.
A cop is walking through a police station, talking on a cellphone. He takes a fax out of the printer. He looks at it, says, "I need to call you back," and hangs up. A team of cops is going to a room in a motel with guns. Pete is talking to someone across a table.
SWAT team pauses outside a room.
The police break into a room. A woman named Diana enters with the gun drawn. She goes inside and lowers her gun, looking at someone in the room. She asks where Sam is going to, and Sam looks back at her, hands up.
The offer in the interrogation room says that the a woman is the last victim. Dean watches him, looking calm but doubting him.
Sam sits by the window in an interview room. Diana walks in, holding a cup of coffee. Sam and Dean are being held on suspicion of murder and Sam is shocked. The detective asks if he is really surprised or just a good actor. She doesn't tell Sam who they killed and Sam recalls that they can't hold them without charges. But they have a right to hold them for 48 hours, but Sam is a prew-law student and should know that. She opens a folder and reads about Sam's mother, girlfriend, and leaving law school. Sam says he needed time off, so he's taking a road trip with his brother. She asks about his trip. Sam talks about how it is and what they saw. Diana says they ran Dean's fingerprints and got over a dozen hits.
Sam corrects her that they are just possible hits and that they are worthless. Diana asks what they will find when they run Sam's fingerprints through the system. Sam laughs and tells her to tell him when they find out. He points at the coffee and asks if he can have it. Diana nods and picks it up. She mentions that Sam is a good kid. It's not his fault that Dean is his brother and can't choose family.
The St. Louis detectives are looking at a corpse. They're trying to figure out how Dean faked his death after torturing young women. Sam is silent. Diana mentions that Dean's life is over but not Sam's. Sam looks up at her and asks if she is turning him against his own brother. She disagrees, but they caught Dean at the murder scene and just need to fill in some blanks. Sam can help them. Diana can talk to the DA to make a deal. Sam can get on with his life. She mentions again that Dean is as good as gone. Sam sighs and tells her that his dad and Tony Giles were old friends. They've known him since they were kids. So they come as soon as they heard about his death.
Sam walks towards a table where Dean is sitting with a newspaper. He gives Dean a coffee. Dean tells him about Anthony Giles, a Baltimore lawyer who is working late at his office and to check this out.
Sam looks at the paper. He finds out that the lawyer's throat was slit, but the room was clean. No DNA prints. Dean asks him to read on since it gets better. The security cameras didn't catch the attacker. Someone must have tampered with the tapes or it is an invisible killer. The boys go to check it out.
Sam tells Diana, that it would be hard for Dean to kill Tony since they weren't in town. Diana asks to go on. Sam and Dean went to see Karen, who was a mess and they just wanted to help.
Karen looks at the insurance papers. Dean and Sam are sitting with her in suits. They tell her that they are sorry to bother her but the company has to investigate. Karen nods. Sam asks her to tell them what she remembers about the night her husband died. Karen tells that Tony and her were just supposed to have dinner. He called and said he had computer trouble and had to work late. That's all he told her. They have no idea who did this to him. Dean asks Karen if anything strange has happened and gets warned by Sam not to get too into detail. Karen tells him about a nightmare Tony had the night before he died. She says he woke up in the night to a woman at the foot of the bed. Tony blinked and she was gone. It was just a nightmare. Dean asks if she remembers what the woman looked like. But Karen asks if that matters at all. After an awkward moment, Dean says that the company is just thorough. Karen describes her as pale with dark red eyes.
Sam concludes that he gave Karen a hug and that's it. The cop says annoyed that she just wants to help Sam and to be honest with her.
She goes on with a witness who saw two men matching Sam and Dean's description breaking into Giles' office. Sam answers that Karen just wanted some things from Tony's office, but the police wouldn't let her in. Pictures of them in Paris and some other stuff. Karen gave them the key to the office.
Dean and Sam get into Tony's office. Sam shines his flashlight on a patch of blood on the floor and tells Dean that Giles' body was found there. His throat was slit so deep, part of his spinal cord was visible. Dean whistles and asks what he thinks it is. Dean gets a piece of paper off the desk and gives it to Sam and tells him to look at it. The word "danashulps" is typed repeatedly on a piece of paper. They do not know what it means. Dean is looking at more paper. It's everywhere. Sam is at a glass table. He shines his flashlight on it and breathes on it to fog it up. The table says "danashulps." Dean suggests that maybe Giles knew her and it's the name of their mystery girl.
Dean throws down the paper and says there's no mention of Dana Shulps. Sam is at Tony's desk and also has nothing. Sam has almost figured out Giles' password, so he'll look in his personal files. Dean looks at his watch when he hears that Sam needs thirty minutes. Dean sits down at the desk. He watches Sam for a few seconds and then gets bored and makes noises. Sam asks if he is serious. Dean stands up and says he's going to talk to Karen again.
Sam says Dean went to Karen's place to check on her. Diana gets suspisious and asks why he didn't go with him. Sam answers he went back to the motel and wants to ask how they found him there. Diana says they found a motel matchbook on Dean when they arrested him. She tells him to stop fooling around and says he was with his brother the whole time in Baltimore and why would they separate now? Dean left Sam to murder Karen. Sam disagrees that Dean killed anyone. Diana slams her fist on the table and says she heard the 911 call. Karen was scared since someone was in the house.
Karen is watching TV. She sees someone walk by in the hallway. She shakes her head and looks up. Someone is at the window. She screams and turns on the light, but they're gone. She gets up and walks down the hall. She hears something behind her and runs up the stairs, locking her door. She calls 911, but the phone dies before she can give her address. The lights go out, and her printer starts printing. She looks at it and sees "danashulps" printed over and over. She goes into her closet and turns around. There is a woman with red eyes standing behind her. She screams.
Dean's at Karen's door. He calls her name, but she doesn't answer. He looks around and picks the lock. He goes inside and looks around. The lights don't work. He goes upstairs and finds her on the floor, dead. Her throat is cut. He finds the paper with "danashulps" written on it on the table. He crouches next to her and lifts her hand, noticing strange red marks on her wrists. Two cops find him, there guns on him. Dean puts his hands up, and the cops handcuffs him.
Dean is handcuffed to a table. Pete and Diana are inside. Diana and Pete don't have any success with the brothers. The stories match with each other. They need to flip them, or else they have no proof. Pete says that juries have convicted for less. Diana questions where the murder weapon is and the motive. Pete tells her she talks about questionable doubt and asks if she really doubts it was murder. Pete takes away his hand from Diana's face when another cop walks by. They just have to push these guys and one of them will crack. Pete is more than sure that Dean is their guy. Diana notices that Pete just wants to clean this up fast. Diana says they should get back at the brothers, but Pete says no and to let them stew. He looks around and kisses Diana. Then she leaves.
Dean is repeating "danashulps". Sam is writing "danashulps" on a piece of paper.
Dean thinks it might be a name. Sam thinks its an anagram and writes the word in different ways.
Dean is trying to solve an anagram when a man comes to the door and says that he's Dean's lawyer. Dean asks for paper and pen and writes "danashulps" in different ways. The lawyer is talking about catching Dean, but Dean doesn't seem to be listening. The lawyer asks Dean what he is doing. Dean tells him it's an anagram and hands him the paper. He asks if he can read any of the words. The lawyer asks if Dean knows how serious the charges are. Dean laughs and says that he's handcuffed to a table and he understands. The lawyer tells Dean "Ashland", which is a local street. Then he starts to talk about the case again, but Dean asks him to visit his brother.
Diana is typing up a case report at the police station. "Danashulps" keeps appearing on her screen. She presses a few keys, but it keeps going, then it's gone. She looks around.
Sam is reading Dean's note. It says "Hilts - Ashland - McQueen." The lawyer says he hopes that was meaningful and wants to talk about the case. Sam motions to the chair. The lawyer states that Sam and Dean are brothers, sitting down. Diana opens the door just as he starts to talk. They need the lawyer with Dean.
People have set up a camera in front of Dean and the lawyer walks in. Pete informs the lawyer that Dean wants to confess. The lawyer tells Dean not to, but Dean doesn't say anything. Pete tells him to say his name on camera. Dean looks into the camera and starts with his name and that he is an Aquarius. That he likes sunsets, beaches, and women. He didn't kill anyone and he knows who did. Their investigation was interrupted, so he can't say for sure. Dean talks about a vengeful spirit and Diana excuses. Dean explains that Tony Giles saw it. He bets Karen did too. But the interesting thing is what it leaves behind. It's trying to tell them something. It's hard to communicate across the veil. Spirits sometimes mix things up. He pulls out a piece of paper from his jacket with "danashulps" written on it in different ways.
They thought it was Dana Shulps. Diana looks shocked at the word on the paper. Dean says "danashulps" stands for a street named "Ashland" and that it started there. Dean smiles and Pete curses at Dean. Pete gets angry. He shoves Dean against the wall and Diana yells at him. Pete leaves, telling them to lock him up.
Diana and Pete go into the room and find Sam is gone. Pete asked where he is, looking out the window. Diana finds Dean's note on the desk.
Diana turns on the lights in the bathroom, but they don't work. The taps start running hot water, fogging up the mirrors. Diana sees "danashulps" written on the mirror. She wipes it away and sees a woman with a slit throat in the mirror. She turns around and the woman comes closer, making strange noises.
Diana comes into the room where Dean is sitting. Dean rubs his eyes and asks if they can make it quick since he is tired. Diana says they pretend Dean is not insane and she wants to know what is going on here. Dean explains her how a vengeful spirit comes to live. Diana asks if they can kill people and rubs her neck. Dean smiles, then stops. He sees something on Diana. Diana lowers her hand and pulls up her sleeve. Her wrists are marked like Karen's.
Dean realizes that Diana saw the spirit and explains to her that Karen has the same marks. He bets that the same can be found on Giles. Dean tells her she has to find Sam. She has to look up the first motel in the Yellow Pages and ask for Jim Rockford. It's how Sam and Dean find each other. Diana can arrest him if she wants or Sam can save her life.
Sam is reading when he hears a knock. He opens the door and sees Diana. He looks at her wrists and asks if the bruises happened after she saw the spirit. She says yes. Sam asks her to tell him what she saw. Diana tells him Sam is a fugitive and she should arrest him. Sam says she can arrest him later, but now she has to talk to him. Sam asks what the spirit looked like. Diana tells him the description Karen gave, plus that her throat was cut. She says it looked like she was trying to talk, but couldn't. Sam shows her the table and he has researched every girl, who died or went missing from Ashland Street.
Diana is shocked how Sam got his hands on crime scene and booking photos. Sam just answers that she has her job and he has his. Diana looks through the photos and sees one girl. She hands him a picture of a blond girl. Her name is Claire Becker and she is 28. She disappeared eight or nine months ago. Diana doesn't know her and asks why she would come after her. Claire was arrested twice before she died for dealing heroin. Diana and Pete worked narcotics before. They never caught a Claire Becker. Sam reads on and the police never found Claire's body. They need to check this out and find her body. Sam tells her that they need to salt and burn Claire's body to put her spirit to rest.
Sam and Diana are in an abandoned building where Claire was last seen. She asks what they're looking ofr. He says he'll tell her when they find it. Diana and Sam split up. Diana hears something behind her. She turns and sees Claire. She comes toward Diana, reaching out. Diana calls for Sam, who arrives just as Claire disappears. They move a shelf to get to the window. The other side of the window says "Ashland Supplies", their mystery word.
Sam takes out his EMF meter and picks up a signal from inside the wall. He breaks the wall with a crowbar and says he can see something inside. He keeps breaking the wall and says this is bothering him. Diana tells him his is digging up a corpse but Sam laughs. That's not tat. It's normal (for him) but no vengeful spirit he ever fought wanted to be wasted. Why would Claire lead them to her remains? Diana and Sam take out the body, which is in a bag. Sam cuts the rope and unwraps it. They look inside and see that Claire's wrists are tied. Sam says her wrists would be bruised too. Diana finds a necklace on the girl. Diana says she's seen one like it. They're rare and custom-made on Carson Street. She pulls one just like it from under her shirt. She says Pete gave it to her. Now it all makes sense.
Claire is a death omen, not a vengeful spirit. Claire isn't killing anyone. She's trying to warn them. Sometimes spirits wants justice, not vengeance. Sam asks DIana about her partner Pete. Diana tells him that about a year ago, some heroin went missing from lock-up. It was a cop. They never found out who did it, but they would need someone to fence their product. Claire was the dealer.
Pete is driving at night in a cop van with Dean in the back. He asks why Pete transferred him to St. Louis at two in the morning. Pete doesn't answer and Dean realizes that this isn't good.
Diana says Pete left with Dean. Pete said Dean had to be transferred and just took him. Dispatch has been calling, but he won't answer. Sam asks if it's with a radio and if Pete took a county vehicle. It should have a lowjack and to just get it turned on.
Pete stops the van. He gets out of the van and throws Dean to the ground. Pete says St. Louis people won't believe Dean. Dean won't make it to St. Louis since he will die trying to escape. Pete pulls out a gun. Dean tells him to wait and talk it out.
A voice calls Pete and the men turn to see Diana and Sam. Diana has a gun on Pete. She tells him to put the gun down. She tells Pete that she knows about Claire. Pete tries to play dumb and Diana tells him to put down the gun again. Pete disagrees and is still aiming at Dean. Diana wants to know why Pete did it. Pete says he didn't do anything and that it's too late. It wasn't his fault. Claire was going to turn him in and he had to do it. Tony and Karen were the same thing. Pete panicked. Pete says there is no way out and Dean is a gift to solve it. They could blame all of it on Dean. No trial and one less scumbag. Diana lowers her gun when Pete tells her he loves her. Pete turns towards Dean and Diana shoots him. Dean rolls out of the way and Pete jumps on Diana. Sam comes forward, but Pete aims the gun at him. He warns Sam and then points the gun at Dean again. Both boys hold up their hands. Diana looks behind Pete. Claire is there. Pete turns around and sees her, and then Diana shoots Pete.
Diana kneels by Pete's body while Dean and Sam watch. She walks over and Sam asks how she is. Diana asks what happens to Claire now. Sam tells her that Claire should be at rest now. Dean asks what is next. Both cases can be dismissed since Pete screwed up both of them. The St. Louis murder charges is a different story where she can't help unless they walk away while she has her back turned. She can say that they both escaped. She advices the boys to watch their back. They are looking for them. Then she says that she has to radio it in. Dean asks where his car is. Diana says it's at the impound on Robertson. He's not going to ask her for help, she says. Sam says it's okay, they'll improvise.
They walk away and Sam says Diana is a nice lady. Dean agrees that for a cop Diana is really nice. Dean asks if Sam is hungry but Sam says he isn't. Dean answers that he really could go for pea soup.

Featured Post: Do You Believe in Magic | Book 1 by Jim Melvin
About Do You Believe in Magic | Book 1: Recommended Review by Kirkus Reviews (top 25% of Indie books): "A delightful beginning to a promising series that’s sure to appeal to teen readers who feel like outsiders." — Kirkus Reviews, October 2024 The winner of 11 international awards. In this exciting and enchanting fantasy novel, readers are invited to journey into a world where magic is not merely a fairy tale but a powerful reality. This gripping story revolves around an everyday boy leading an ordinary life until a chance encounter transforms his world forever. Suddenly, faced with inexplicable happenings and being able to perform magical feats, Charlie grapples to understand his newfound abilities. Little does he know, he has become central to a battle between forces beyond his comprehension, a war underway in the invisible realms around him. Book 1 of the teen fantasy adventure "Dark Circles" explores the timeless human question – do you believe in magic? – in a context that feels entirely fresh and unpredictable. It takes readers on a fantastic adventure, filled with wit, mystery, action, and a touch of romance to tie it all together. Targeted Age 13 and older Written by: Jim Melvin Buy the ebook: Buy the Book On Amazon Link to Series Buy the Audio Book: Buy the Book On Amazon Buy the Print Book: Buy the Book On Amazon Author Bio: I grew up on the shores of western Florida and spent much of my childhood swimming in shark-infested waters long before the movie Jaws put a scare into everyone. At the time, I was too skinny to attract a shark’s attention. About ten other boys my age lived on my same street, and we hung out morning, noon, and night playing the usual sports that young boys love — football, baseball, “kill the carrier,” etc. — but as a group, we also played fantastical games that contained magic, monsters, and superheroes. It was in this setting that my imagination as a writer of magical fantasy was born and nurtured. I moved from Florida to Upstate South Carolina about twenty years ago and drove from Tampa-St. Pete to the Clemson area on Interstate 75 many times. It’s about a 10-hour drive, which is quite wearisome. And the traffic around Atlanta can be horrendous. I’ve always found the rest stops to be a bit spooky, especially at night. My MC Charlie Magus also found them to be spooky. If you read Do You Believe in Magic?, you’ll get the picture. My first home in SC was on forty wooded acres that included a creek that wound through a forest to a waterfall. It wasn’t as magnificent as described in my books 😀, but it did serve as the inspiration for the story. I am at home in the mountains. It’s where I now live, and I do long hikes at least three days per week. Characters in fantasy novels tend to wander around a lot in the wilderness, so I feel comfortable writing about natural surroundings. I have written “Dark Circles” with young teens in mind. I tell potential readers that it is appropriate for 13 and older, though readers as young as 10 and as old as 80 have enjoyed it. When I say appropriate, I mean that there are no sex scenes and only very limited profanity. But like most epic fantasies, the series has its violent moments — sort of like the later Harry Potter books. But just because a series is appropriate for young teens doesn’t mean that it has to be sophomoric. To the contrary, “Dark Circles” is a sophisticated work with a lot going on between the lines in terms of themes, allegorical elements, symbolism, foreshadowing, literary tropes, etc. My newsletter (Jim Melvin’s Realms of Fantasy) goes into extensive depth about this. Some of the themes in my series are obvious: bullying, good vs. evil, coming of age, heroism. But in the end, the most important theme of all is the idea that only the best among us are willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good — the literary equivalent of a soldier throwing himself on a hand grenade. in the new year i have goals to do different things with my artwork... so today i printed the last of my blank textile materials ... eventually i will probably go back to making tote bags and towels to sell but at least for the near future i want my art to be a little more about exploring and a little less about producing...
so, the last of my morning market dates is approaching and i’m glad to be going out on a high note as i love how this bee and hibiscus combo turned out! i custom mix my ink colors and love how the gray and mustard colors work together. i also love the red and purple combo on the dragonfly star bags... i hope in the coming year to print more art images that concentrate on basic artistic concepts like color and are more open ended in terms of content and inspiration... stay tuned!

2x07: The Usual Suspects
Then:
Sam and Dean Winchester, professional grifters
Now:
Baltimore, Maryland
The cops have finally caught up with Sam and Dean Winchester. The SWAT team surrounds their motel room and takes them into custody. One cops sums up all of Dean’s killer ways at his interrogation. Dean is unaffected. (Because he’s not a killer.)
Sam, meanwhile, gets the good cop for his interrogation.
She reads off Sam’s life story to him and he lays on the Winchester snark in return. They’re trying to break this straight A student to get more information on his derelict older brother.
Sam starts talking.
Flashback to why Sam and Dean were in Baltimore when they got caught. John and a man who recently died,Tony Giles, were old friends. They were hunting an invisible killer. (And for the record, it’s clear that Cas is Scully. Sam is Skinner, third-wheeling the far more compelling duo the whole way.)
Sam tells the cop that they weren’t even in town when Tony died.
They went to visit Tony’s widow, Karen (and secret publisher of Sam and Dean’s life story!). Dean asks if Tony talked about anything strange in his life before he died. She mentions he had a nightmare about a woman with red eyes.
Sam and Dean then were spotted breaking into Tony’s office. They’re thinking a vengeful spirit. Dean finds a bunch of papers with the words “danashulps”
Sam then finds the name finger-smudged on Tony’s glass desk. They look but can’t find that name anywhere.
Dean goes to ask Karen if she knows anything about this name. Sam tells the cop that he went to make sure she was doing okay. Sam stayed to crack Tony’s computer password but tells the cop that he went back to the hotel.
Twist! Apparently, Karen is dead too! The cop tells Sam that the brothers separated because Dean was heading to murder Karen. The 911 call indicated that someone was in the house with Karen.
We get a flashback of Karen seeing a woman in the window of her house. She runs upstairs and calls 911.
Her phone disconnects, her lights flicker and then her printer starts printing “danashulps’. She heads to her closet to pull out a flashlight, and turns around to find the woman!
Dean knocks on her door some time later. When she doesn’t respond, he lets himself in. The lights aren’t working. He finds her dead on her bedroom floor. He notices bruising on her wrists. And that’s when the cops find him.
The coppers reunite to confirm that the brothers’ stories match. Good Cop tells Bad Cop that they have to get Sam to flip on his brother or they don’t really have a case —no murder weapon, no motive.Bad Cop insists that this case is in the bag. They’ve got Dean’s prior in St. Louis after all. Good Cop —now known as Diana—informs the audience that Bad Cop was good friends with Giles. Also, Diana and Bad Cop are in a secret office romance.
While Dean waits out his interrogation, he stews over the name “danashulps”.
He guesses that it’s not a name. Sam, who has access to a pen and paper, starts the anagram game. Dean plays the game in his head AND HE’S MY SMART BOY FOR IT. Dean’s public defender, Jeff Krause shows up then. Dean doesn’t seem to care that someone within the legal world has come to help him —he just needs a pen and paper. He breaks down the word and asks Jeff if he recognizes anything. Jeff worries that Dean isn’t taking this seriously.
Jeff points out that Ashland is a street name in the area. Dean asks if he can see Sam.
Diana is typing up the police report when suddenly her computer starts writing “danashulps” over and over again. It only happens for a few seconds, the screen filling with seemingly nonsense characters, and then it reverts back to normal again.
Jeff visits with Sam and hands him over the paper from Dean pointing out that Ashland is a street. Before he can get into Sam’s defense case, he’s called back to Dean’s holding room. Dean’s decided to confess!
In one quick line, Dean yoinks the rug out from under the cops. “I did not kill anyone,” he states at the start of his purported confession, but he knows who did it. “Our working theory is that we’re looking for some kind of a vengeful spirit.” This goes over just as well as you might imagine with most of the cops. But Diana sees the DANASHULPS scrawled on his sheet of paper and has an OH NO moment. When they accuse him of the murders in Saint Louis, he casually tells them it was a shapeshifter.
With Dean Winchester written off as a lost cause, they head in to question Sam. To their surprise, he’s escaped! Diana finds Dean’s letter about Ashland and I SHAKE MY HEAD AT YOUNG SAM WINCHESTER for leaving a clue for the cops.
In the ladies room, Diana discovers the overhead lights are out. All the taps turn on, steaming hot to fog up the mirrors so Ghosty can write her catch phrase on the glass. The ghost also spectral projects herself to Diana, mouth moving like she’s trying to say something. Shaken, Diana heads back to talk to Dean “Crazy Occult Guy” Winchester.
Dean tells her that vengeful spirits originate from violent deaths. My Smartest Buttercup notices that Diana has fresh bruises encircling her wrists. She doesn’t remember getting them. Dean warns her that death is stalking her now, and tells her to seek Sam’s help for protection against the spirit.
At Sam’s motel, she gives him the lowdown and shows him the bruises on her wrists. Sam gives her a stack of victim photos to see if any of them match the ghost. Diana identifies Claire Becker as the ghost. She was a heroin dealer in life, and might be targeting Diana for her narcotics work. Sam and Diana team up to salt and burn Claire’s body at an abandoned store on Ashland. Claire makes an appearance during the search, but only seems to want to reveal herself to Diana. They find the mystery word - it’s Ashland - and a half erased word fragment. Sam busts out the wall the clues have pointed them towards. They haul out Claire’s body. Around her neck, there’s a necklace. Diana knows it well...because she’s wearing an identical necklace!!! Her office romance Pete gave it to her. DUN dun dun. Sam concludes that Claire isn’t killing anybody. Instead, her spirit is functioning as a death omen.
The killer...is PETE. Diana’s a quick thinker, and remembers that heroin went missing from evidence a year ago. Pete would have used Claire to fence the drugs, and later killed her.
Cut to Pete driving Dean Winchester to parts unknown at two in the morning. Dean’s a quick thinker too, and realizes he’s about to be murdered by a crooked cop. Dean gets hauled from the van. Welp. Looks like he shall meet his end in a sloppy cop drama!
Diana confronts Pete, who tries to blame Claire’s death on...Claire for trying to turn Pete in. He spills everything. The other guy who died was in on the scheme, and Pete killed his wife for good measure. Pete insists that killing Dean - “one more dead scumbag” - is the best approach. I hiss, and fist bump Dean when he tries to defend himself against the “scumbag” accusation. Diana shoots Pete somewhere nonlethal, but Pete still manages to get the upper hand. Claire appears to him then and smirking, draws Pete’s full attention. Diana shoots him clean through the chest.
Afterwards, Diana asks about Claire. “She should be at rest,” Sam assures her. I...side-eye this young man and then let it go because it IS the television show, Supernatural, after all.
Diana tells them the cover story: Pete confessed to her before his death, and the suspects escaped. Dean and Sam head out to rescue Baby, and we get a wink at Diana’s (Linda Blair) Exorcist acting legacy in case you missed it.
What an Excellent Quote for an Exorcism:
You want me to turn against my own brother?
I'm not Scully, you're Scully
My name is Dean Winchester. I'm an Aquarius. I enjoy sunsets, long walks on the beach, and frisky women

Featured Post: Do You Believe in Magic | Book 1 by Jim Melvin
About Do You Believe in Magic | Book 1: Be prepared for a full-blown launch into a fantasy realm loaded with magic, monsters, courageous acts, and a dash of sweet romance. After discovering a magical waterfall deep in the forest, a boy and his dog embark on an epic adventure in a fantastical world filled with monsters and magic. In the real world, Charlie is a 13-year-old nerd picked on by bullies. But in the fantasy world, he becomes a wizard wielding formidable powers. Standing in his way is a vile monster bent on destruction. Only those with a hero’s heart will have the courage to stand at Charlie’s side when the war begins. Targeted Age 13 and older Written by: Jim Melvin Buy the ebook: Buy the Book On Amazon Link to Series Buy the Audio Book: Buy the Book On Amazon Buy the Print Book: Buy the Book On Amazon Author Bio: I grew up on the shores of western Florida and spent much of my childhood swimming in shark-infested waters long before the movie "Jaws" put a scare into everyone. At the time, I was too skinny to attract a shark’s attention, anyway. If you read "Do You Believe in Magic?", you’ll find out why. I have written my teen fantasy trilogy "Dark Circles" with young teens in mind. I tell potential readers that it is appropriate for 13 and older, though readers as young as 10 and as old as 80 have enjoyed it. When I say appropriate, I mean that there are no sex scenes and very limited profanity. But like most epic fantasies, the series has its violent moments — sort of like the later Harry Potter books. But just because a series is appropriate for young teens doesn’t mean that it has to be sophomoric. To the contrary, "Dark Circles" is a sophisticated work with a lot going on between the lines in terms of themes, allegorical elements, symbolism, foreshadowing, literary tropes, etc. My free Substack newsletter (Jim Melvin’s Realms of Fantasy) goes into extensive depth about this. I love love love your writing!! Can you maybe write something about Tony being all soft for Peter and calling him baby or other cute nicknames, and like Rhodes and/or Pepper being there and seeing how soft tony is and 🥺🥺🥺
Thanks! I changed it a little, but not much!
~~~~~
Steve knew for a fact that Stark only cared for himself.
Maybe that was a bit harsh, but it was true. Sure, there was Pepper and Rhodes, and Hogan, but he had never seen Tony show any affection to them. It was probably all fake.
~~~~~
Tony watched fondly as he helped Peter with him homework. Peter was a genius, maybe even smarter than Tony, but had always struggled in social studies. The boy had a adorable expression of concentration on his face, scanning a page of his textbook and scribbling something in his notebook.
“Why is it so complicateeeed?” Peter moaned, leaning back and looking at Tony. “Look at the print! It’s so small!”
Tony chuckled. “It sure is,” he said, squinting at the page. Oof. He had pretty good eyesight, but that print was tiny.
Peter sighed. “And why do they call it social studies? Shouldn’t it be called History?”
Tony laughed again. “It should, Pete, you’re right. Maybe we can bribe the school district.”
The boy giggled, and Tony’s heart warmed.
~~~~~
The man handed Peter a mug of hot chocolate and sat next to him on the couch, grabbing the remote.
“Thanks, Mr. Stark!!” Peter said cheerily, and pulled the soft blanket tighter around his knees. “Ooh, extra marshmallows!!”
“Of course, Petey. What’ll it be?”
“Can we watch The Princess Bride?”
~~~~~
Steve marched into the compound, ready to confront Tony. He wasn’t sure what the confrontation would be about, he just wanted to chew the man out. He was in a bad mood.
He was surprised to be met with the sound of a movie in the distance, and happy chattering. What? No way could this be Stark.
Steve carefully opened the door to the room, peeking in. It was Stark. And... a kid?
What the hell?
The boy was small, with soft brown curls and rosy cheeks. He was laughing at something the man had just said.
He watched in shock as Tony hugged the boy closer to him and kissed his hair.
He listened carefully. Tony was murmuring something softly to the kid, who looked tired.
“You can sleep, tesoro, we can finish the movie later.”
Steve didn’t know Tony could speak Italian.
“’S’okay, Misser Stark. ‘M wide awake.”
“Of course you are, baby. But you can sleep if you want.” Tony was smiling, and kissed the kid’s temple.
“I might sleep,” he slurred softly. “Love you.”
“I love you too, bambino, I love you so much.”
He said it so easily. Like he said it every day. Steve blinked.
Tony had a kid.
And he loved him.
