i only used CURRENT princes, no cavendish no sanji. even on the wiki he’s a former prince because he renounced it :) proof under cut. anyways, i think my favorite is fukaboshi !!

Prince Fukaboshi: What did humans do to you that you hate them some much?!

Hody Jones: Nothing.

Up to this point we've had Fishmen who personally suffered at the hands of the humans. Even Arlong himself was such a person.

But Hody Jones wasn't hurt by any human. He hates them in general. He only heard about the human atrocities and he was nurturing his hatred over the years.

And maybe even if it was just a generational trauma, it wouldn't be half bad as it is; if he hated humans for their past sins and even someone in his family suffered a great deal as a slave. As a Pole, I've seen similar thing in older generations who suffered through WW2 and with younger generations who only learned about it in school or from elders.

But his hatred grew above and beyond that. Hody started to believe that Fishmen are the chosen people who should rule over the others.

Normally in media when we have allegory of racism, this racism is born from some kind of past injustice. With Hody Jones One Piece went a bit further - Hody Jones is an embodiement of someone growing on hatred and considering it a form of pride, while people who chose to abandon hatred are treated like racial traitors.
