SPOILERS FOR THE FLESH AND FIRE SERIES. BASICALLY THE WHOLE FBAA.
.
.
Tumblr media
Sera saying this before having the twins🥲.
Tumblr media
And now they're actually taken from her. .
I'm curious though, how powerful has she became for someone to forcefully put her into stasis??
And by someone I'm guessing it's Ash😭. And remember how he hated to force her to do something she doesn't want even though it's to save her😭😭
God, i miss them.

Review: A Shadow in the Ember by J.L.A
I can't believe I'm still here and done with the third book in the TBR challenge! I'm so happy I'm actually sticking to it and starting to see some progress. I'm starting to see my book shelf free up and it's making me feel all giddy LOL. Even though we have a long way to go, let's get to it with the wrap-up of this banter, love-bomb-filled, sexy, and steamy fantasy romance that is bound to rip you to shreds as JLA does.
This book is the first prequel novel to the From Blood and Ash universe, and this is absolutely hypnotic. After. being on the SJM train for quite some time, I had read the first three books in the FBAA universe and then I started SJM. Obviously, that took so much time!! However, I'm back with JLA baby and I'm ready! Going into this novel, I was aware that this was going to be a novel based off Nyktos, a Primal (or god) who we briefly met in I believe it was A Crown of Guilded Bones. He gave Daddy energy then, and I just knew we were in for a little treat! I, of course, was hesitant to read this as this was the first book without our beloved Casteel, but nevertheless, I persisted.
And let me tell you something-- I was completely invested!!! It's not history repeating itself, but it's history repeating itself. And knowing what we know now in the FBAA universe, A Shadow in the Ember is an incredibly easy read with the main female protagonist Sera in almost the same footsteps as Poppy. We see a whole new universe unfold with draken and it completely opens up a new storyline to which we hadn't seen before or come across.
Sera is one hell of a fighter and a character, but she doesn't really resonate with me that much and is pretty forgettable. Maybe that's because of the lack of care for her own life and the negative outlook and tone that she may carry, but I know that maybe my ideas and opinions will change on the upcoming books.
This was an intriguing storyline, but I refuse to believe that Nyktos could be so silly and to think that Sera was not supposed to ever come across the idea of killing him. I think it's pretty apparent that that thought should have come across her doorstep once or twice before, I don't really know why Ash is so naive when it comes to THAT. lol.
I usually don't give five stars out this much, but I already bought the next book and I'm invested in the story line. For me not to give the book a high rating would be doing a disservice to the author. Regardless of what people may think when it comes to the editing style, Jen always keeps me invested and coming back for another book. JLA, you easily sucked me back into your world, you.
Personal Rating: 5/5

I love talking to rabbis as a recent conversion student because the interaction goes something like, "you're converting? Now?! At this time, at this moment in history?!". And they always talk about this influx of jewish convert students they've seen recently, and it's like...
There's this level of respect I get from rabbis for converting at this point in time, but... Has there ever been a good time to be a jew in the last thousand years or so plus? I'm imagining that rabbis and jews in general back in 1492, back in 1290, back in 1349 would have said the exact same thing. So, really, there is only a time to be a jew. Maybe it's not a "good" time, yes, but it is a time. And to me, that's good enough

Pushing my prey/predator dynamic lawlight agenda. I absolutely love it when in fics L's eyes are described with animalistic metaphors such as "owlish eyes" or "raptor eyes"

Main d20 fandom that hates on kipperlilly for being mentally unwell, for being angry and confiding in a trusted adult about said anger and then dying and coming back serving a distorted goddess of conquest and rage im so happy for you not ever having a genuinely fucked up thought because being an angry person and having thoughts of wanting to physically harm someone because of something truly childish is not a hell i would wish upon anyone but lord have mercy should any of you meet someone irl like that i hope you treat them with respect knowing that feeling insurmountable anger and not being able to truly understand why you are that way is not something that anyone who feels that way wants.
And i personally hope i never meet any of you and i think some of you should analyze how you talk about fictional characters with very real mental illnesses because YES it’s fucked up that she was jealous of riz for having this tragic backstory, but have any of you considered the fact that she was working through it with jawbone and then she fucking died and is in service to a corrupted god of conquest and rage and lost her closest friend and now has so much anger in her that she is now forced to put somewhere
Anyway apologies for the rant/wall of text i just find kipperlilly and the rat grinders as a whole very interesting and knowing how others perceive primarily kipperlilly deeply annoys me, especially now that im completely caught up with fhjy, and if some of (or most of i know how i sound most of the time) this reads as condescending or similar it’s because i was a bit upset when i started writing it lmao i have since calmed down

I got a particular snippet that's been stuck in my head for a long while... I might as well write it now. It's the Bayverse!Isekai accidental primal family acquisition au where you land yourself into the mess that's Sentinel and Star Saber with baby!Oppy and baby!Megs.
This is the 'unknown' Prime's sigils upon your face.
______
"All stories have one commonality: they must end."
"Then why am I here? Why me? Why this timeline?"
"Oh, child," sings a voice that builds kingdoms and ruins hearts. "You keep asking the same questions."
______
"Well done, little singer." Liege Maximo's face swarms into view, and every vent you take brings acute, searing pain between the spaces where ribs would sit. You're cradled on his lap, sand shifting beneath your stained servos as you see your own blood floating away to become part of the cosmos above. Painting new stars and brushing planets into new directions. You're flying away, leaving behind the physical pain to sink into beautifully spun, yet chaotic patterns that spiral out - a web or a tapestry, you think before trying to follow it -
"Come back down, wayfinder." Liege's voice plucks back your wandering soul, and you tumble back into your broken frame.
"Curiosity killed the cat," you rasp at the wandering Prime whose steps are infinite, cape made of the very cosmos, and horns hold suns, moons, and stars of universes you have no concept for.
"But satisfaction brought it back." Liege Maximo purrs. His current face is young and terribly beautiful. A face who would doom thousands to death for another to own such a soul. A face who would enraptured one and all to whatever story told or song sung, no matter how damning the details.
This Prime has a performer's soul, and you should play along, especially when he holds your very essence in his hands. You're Alice and he's the Chesire Cat. 'Curiouser and Curiouser,' lies on your glossa, but you're exhausted and most likely dying in Sentinel's arms from the failed assassination attempt.
"Am I dying again?" You ask, breaking the game, feeling small and weak. In the end, any and all Transformers storylines are ultimately tragedies, and bayverse is no different.
"Come on, don't be like that," he chides, light and airy. He gently wipes away the Energon from your lips, and from the crevices of his frame sprouts an assortment of fauna - a few names flicker from the recesses of your borrowed body, a reminder of knowledge from a dead stranger but many are unknown. Scents clash: floral, citrus, minty, bitter, sweet, and herbs.
But the few names you were given were all medicinal plants.
The Prime of Stories is also the founder of Cybertronian medicine.
And right now, you're choking on those very plants. They spiral together and weave into every opening upon you, including your injuries and your face. You can't even move, not even twitch as you sink deeper and deeper into his hold and feel every little stitch done to keep you together.
"You've met enemies, little singer, but you have yet to reach the true climax. The curtains aren't falling, nor is it time for you to bow out. You've changed a crucial point, so you must follow through this newfound direction and keep steady. This Act is still in play."
His face blurs from the tears. You're weeping in silence, and not even the gentle touch could stem it.
"I can not give you anesthesia for this. Pain is good and will keep you grounded in this body of yours. Otherwise, you'll truly be a songbird and fly away to join the symphony of this universe. You wouldn't want to find your way back once you joined the choir, even for a moment. Listen to this story, wayfinder, and stay determined. You'll wake up soon again."
"In the beginning, there was one entity that split into two..."
