Thinking about Shao Yuanyuan and her wildcard potential and it hit me today... just how much does she know? Does she live in a time loop similar to Lu Guang or does she hop in and out of the past like Cheng Xiaoshi? Does she know that Cheng Xiaoshi also has a death node?

It suddenly occurred to me to that the Shao Yuanyuan we likely saw during the fire in Ep 4, was either a time leaping SYY from the future or at least one who had information from her future self to know to be in Bridon at this point in time and also a Shao Yuanyuan who might have just realized Cheng Xiaoshi had awakened his own powers.

Given her meeting with Cheng Xiaoshi in Ep 6 where she acts like Cheng Xiaoshi should be aware of how this all works, I suspect that it's because the version of Shao Yuanyuan from Ep 4 arranged this meeting because she encountered Cheng Xiaoshi during the fire and thus knew he would show up in Bridon and go searching for them through Wang Qing. She needed to set up that meeting so she could tell Cheng Xiaoshi face to face not to pursue her anymore (and make things more complicated).

I also think that was her second attempt at doing so - the first being to go back years earlier to tell the Qiao family not to let him go to Bridon. But the future refused to change so she found another opportunity to try again.

And based on Lu Guang's comments it sounds like she would have also failed again in the original timeline. It's not clear how her conversation with CXS went last time (if there was one) but at the very least she might not have had time to make CXS promise not to chase after her anymore, and that would have likely sealed his fate. If anything, a sudden interrupted meeting like that might have even encouraged him further.

And this is all coming from a Shao Yuanyuan from an unknown point in the future...

Anyway this is a lot of words to say where in time is Shao Yuanyuan?

A couple of things are especially concerning:

It would increase the time and effort needed to register to vote, which will likely disproportionately affect poorer communities (even in states like California);

It might also establish a two-tier voting system with different states mandating different forms of evidence that affects different communities differently: for example, if a conservative state decides that a marriage certificate is an ineligible form of ID, they're not just barring a sizeable female population from registering to vote, they're also barring LGB people and people who come from culturally or linguistically diverse backgrounds (e.g. people born in China who have a Chinese name on their birth certificate but who've adopted an Anglo name).

I keep seeing shit about the tradwife movement and tiktok people glamorizing an idyllic life that doesn’t exist and is in fact backbreaking manual labor and yeah. Some of that shit is laughable. Completely ridiculous. Not how any of this works, you’re shilling a fantasy.

But I want to point out that there are, in fact, tradwives who do live on actual farms. They do this work and know how hard it is and raise their kids into it. There are farmers who raise cows and swear by raw milk. Mom kept trying to buy raw milk from our friends with a farm but fortunately my siblings and I hated it and wouldn’t drink it.

Idk I just felt like that’s a dimension that’s missing. Tradwife influencers are shilling a romantic barefoot and pregnant fantasy and meanwhile women are trapped in that reality. I knew families with 7+ kids because they believed god would give them the amount of children he wanted them to have. One of those families never took the younger kids to a doctor despite the fact that one of their kids was a premie who would’ve died without medical help. That kid continued to have issues. I knew families who gave birth to their kids on their couch and gave them raw milk to drink. I knew families whose kids didn’t have social security numbers because they thought it was the mark of the beast. And their daughters are encouraged to stay with their families until marriage so they can be safe and protected and uncorrupted by the world until they find a husband to protect them.

I was lucky. My family was liberal by cult standards. We got in trouble and were kinda ostracized for not buying into it hard enough. My sister and I were allowed to wear pants and didn’t have to cover our hair and were encouraged to go to college. My dad got in trouble for defending women once. My siblings and I were all born in hospitals. We were taken to the doctor for sprained ankles. I think about those girls, raised in that environment. I hope some of them got out of there. I’m afraid most are still trapped.

I like the DC x DP AUs where the Justice League and Amity Park (and Elmerton by proxy) never noticed each other due to an information blackout. I also find it neat when the idea's taken a step further.

For example, what if the government built Amity Park on insanely haunted land on purpose? Let's say, years ago, the whole LoA and Ra's Al Ghul situation made the U.S government curious about Lazarus water. They wished to find it's source in order to harvest it themselves.

The U.S preferred to avoid Lazarus pools that already existed to prevent conflict with the LoA. Instead, they decided to seek out the perfect location to "dig a well" of their own.

GIW scientists established that Lazarus water, a heavily condensed version of ectoplasm, was linked to ghosts and other ectoplasmic entities. They also observed that these entities are highly attracted to human populated areas.

This gave them the idea to settle a whole population of people on a liminal hotspot to lure ecto entities into the human realm. With the Anti Ecto Acts in place, the GIW were be free to capture ghosts and other creatures for their ectoplasm. The end goal was for the Fenton portal to be used as a well to harvest mass quantities of ectoplasm directly from the Infinite Realms.

How might this work for Amity Park and it's place in the world?

The information blackout is heavier outside the Amity-Elmerton territory than inside. Amity residents are only cut off from info that could threaten the government project (EX: the existence of real life superheroes, the Meta Protection Acts, certain major events, etc.).

All devices that enter the Amity-Elmerton territory are unable to send or receive video/pics of the above "blocked" topics. In fact, it's difficult for social media users within that territory to connect with any posts or profiles from outside unless they look hard enough.

Amity residents are still allowed to travel, but airline ticket prices are jacked ridiculously high, especially for specific destinations (i.e: common superhero locations) to deter those residents from going there. GPS devices and maps bought in Amity or Elmerton are also set to misdirect users away from these same locations if they opt for a road trip.

Most Amity-Elmerton residents hardly bother leaving at all since there's a hefty fee for crossing beyond a set perimeter. They've all been lead to believe this is a normal part of traveling in the Midwest.

To everyone outside the Amity-Elmerton area, that area is virtually non-existent. It's not listed on any map, globe, or basically any public geolocation tool outside those provided in Amity (not even Google Maps). The only hints of it existing are in certain forms of documentation, such as birth certificates and tax forms. Even then, these people are hard to come by.

At most, Amity Park is a little known myth where people occasionally debate on it's existence.

In general, the government limiting Amity-Elmerton residents access to outside info while giving them just enough to stave off suspicion.

And now I'm feeling shitty like ppl are going to think im like faking or milking this. Like I thought abt having another "sorry for mistakes, I'm sick" note at the start of chapter 3 but ive done that too many times i feel like i don't have the right to pull that card AGAIN

Because I was so sick before and just kept whining about it forever and i know ppl had to be thinking god this bitch is STILL sick. And now i was barely better and already im sick AGAIN.

It also doesn't help that porphyria is an extremely weird... almost.... dramatic? disease. And even from person to person it varies wildly, i don't get the same symptoms as family members with it

I know it sounss so fake. This morning i was 100% fine, now I'm in severe pain and my head feels weird almosr like I'm disassociating, my foot hurts, my hands might stop working. And it's all bc i went a day without eating and now i have to make sure i eat a ton of carbs or I'll get significantly worse

It sounds like I'm making shit up, but just google acute intermittent porphyria, it's all real, my nervous system can just randomly go from fine to complain fucked in a matter of hours
