Finally saw the generative Eno documentary and wanted to preserve some memories as best I can before they scatter to the winds of time:
"Honor thy error as a hidden intention." ~ Brian Peter George St. John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno
Brian describing his musical process as finding/painting/intuiting a landscape within sound, knowing for example when to point to earth and when to return to sky.
Humans create and generate naturally--it doesn't have to be this grand or significant gesture, but can encompass everything "from Cezanne to cake decorating."
The question of "what is art actually for?" Belonging being a foremost human need, found through going to concerts with large crowds or singing/synchronizing with other voices and rhythms.
Laurie Anderson's long moment of silence after drawing a card from Brian's Oblique Strategies deck, staring at the camera the entire time. (What did the card say? I missed that bit but will likely find out after buying the cards.)
Bowie laughing nervously in an interview when asked what Brian does during their creative process together, and admitting that he doesn't quite know.
How "Heroes" came to be, according to Brian's recollection. Bowie described one take as "a bit lumberjack," redoing it to make his voice sound more like he worked a 9-5 job and had a boss breathing down his neck.
All those gorgeous photos of Bowie looking at Brian with admiration during their Heroes sessions (with Velvet Goldmine plot bunnies popping up left and right).
Brian's interview fully taken over by a large black cat wanting attention, to the point of climbing over his shoulders and putting his tail in his face, until Brian gently but firmly shoos him away.
One of Brian's filming projects began with the purchase of a camera off a shifty roadie from another band (Foreigner?), as if it were a clandestine substance being sold to him rather than a piece of equipment.
Brian proudly showing his "ziggurats" made out of TV screens or computer monitors with light box steppes atop them to create a hypnotic glowing effect.
Brian swearing indignantly at various ads and audio prompts playing on his computer while he searches for a YT video.
Brian insisting that skipping breakfast is a good idea because it allows him to generate more creative "output" in the mornings than "input" of food, tea, news articles, emails, etc. Only to cut the interview short because he's so bloody hungry.
Describing the artist's process of waking up and asking "what shall I do today?" as being slightly terrifying, yet workable when there is acceptance that not every day will be a "productive" one.
The importance of keeping the inner critic out of the room when the inner child wants to play--and inversely, of inviting the critic in when the child has done enough.
The sight of faces slowly and almost imperceptibly morphing into other faces, as if glimpsed through a drugged-up haze.
The most interesting things are in between, not in the absolutes of "this" or "that." And how Brian applied this to his gender expression when he was younger.

The third ensemble of "Murder Under the Mistletoe" (Season 2, Episode 13) is Phryne's beautiful antique printed jacket atop her intricately beaded black blouse and black pants.
Combining detail and drama, Miss Fisher wears a black blouse with a sheer yoke decorated with intricate beading in a geometric art deco pattern, extending from a central point and curving around to the back. The blouse has long sleeves and tight fitted cuffs, and two ribbons connected by a zig-zagging thread along her neckline (known as a fagoted seam).
The short-sleeve silk jacket worn on top adds a layer of subtle festivity to the look with bright green silk lining and a pattern of papyrus branches and reeds printed on the outside. A vintage piece, this been described as one of Essie Davis' favorite costumes:
“Another one of my favorite costumes is what I wore on the very first day of filming - to meet Murdoch Foyle (Phryne’s younger sister’s murderer) in jail. It was black silk pants with a little black top in sheer black chiffon with beading and a fantastic antique short-sleeved jacket in an orange, gold and black design that reminds me of a Margaret Preston painting." - Essie Davis, Miss Fisher’s Costume Exhibition
Margaret Preston was considered the most prominent female Australian artist of the 1920′s and 1930′s. In a desire to create art that reflected her country, she was the first non-indigenous artist to use Aboriginal elements in her paintings. Her “Still Life” from 1925 appeared in “Raisins and Almonds” (1x05) where Miss Fisher declares “Margaret Preston is a talent to watch”, and hangs to the left of her fireplace in her parlor.
Phryne finishes her look with her classic black silk faille pants, long green teardrop earrings (seen on the right in the exhibition photo), and a black beaded necklace that feature larger beads on either side of the central beaded fringe. During a quick trip out into the snow to investigate with Jack, she dons a black fur wrap, seen in 2x01.
A fabulous ensemble, we've seen this exact outfit (apart from the jewelry) in both "Raisins and Almonds" (1x05) and twice in "Death By Miss Adventure" (1x10).

companions start a minecraft server. how do they play? who lives with who? who starts a war over their dog dying?
Companions play Minecraft
Cait; hardcore mode speedrunner who looks for increasingly difficult and mindfuck ways to kill the Elder Dragon. Why? Success is a kind of high you'll get from nothing else. Especially when you kill the final boss with nothing but eggs and slime pistons. When playing on Hancock's server, functions as a bodyguard during less-safe builds, like underground, or at the edge of the forest. The first line of defense during a raid. Does busywork for Codsworth in exchange for throwing eggs. Piper built a traditional Irish pub for her to live in and you can occasionally see her just staring at it in wonder. Is the one with the pack of wolves. The town graveyard is filled with her fallen pups. Also has a parrot, just to watch it dance to the pub's jukebox.
Codsworth; Does the busywork around the town Hancock and the others have built. Town is probably called Goodneighbor, let's be real. Tends the farms, the animals, makes food, etc. Does a little bit of everything. Takes care of Curie's zoo, goes fishing with Danse, gives opinions on building materials...pure chilling. Refuses to slaughter farm animals for meat, he's too attached. Fish, bread, and vegetables are on the menu in Goodneighbor. Lives in a quaint little birch cottage by the river, where he keeps flowers, bees, and chickens. All of them have nametags. Second line of defense during a raid—touch his potato fields, and enjoy eggs for your last meal.
Curie; Spends all of her time following and studying the more fantastical creatures, like Endermen. Keeps real notes in a notebook as she plays, theorizing on their biology. Endlessly fascinated with the convergent evolution between Villagers and Pillagers. Will often join Preston's archeology expeditions to discover the lore hints in the environment. Dies a lot, usually has nothing but seeds and dirt in her inventory. Keeps an area filled with specimens in appropriate pens. Puts bounties out for new creatures. Favors the axolotls and fish, though. Lives in the second floor of the zoo's visitor center.
Danse; Minecraft has a powerful aura of sad nostalgia, and I don't think he could handle it. Will help out in Goodneighbor by going and getting materials for building. Enjoys fishing more than anything, though. Gets very attached to his orange cat that sits on his bed. His dirt hut is on the outskirts of Goodneighbor, but is covered in flowers, paintings, and whatever else decor the others have put up. Nick dyed his cat's collar pink. Accompanies X6 on Curie's specimen bounties. Will sometimes stop moving. Don't worry, he's just enraptured by the music and is enjoying it. Or is being made very sad by it. Same thing, right?
Deacon; Pays money to change his username to look like someone else's every week. Changes to their skin, too, but edited to have sunglasses. Otherwise, Herobrine wannabe. If you don't know what that is, you are too young to be reading this blog. Deacon will make small, uniform tunnels, fill them with oddities like bone and paper. He'll leave structures reminiscent of crosses. He'll use armor stands and elaborate Redstone mechanisms, make it look like someone's watching you from the trees, only for you to step on a hidden pressure plate, and the figure vanishes. Adds to the lore of the world. Has a rainbow wool house filled with so many rabbits, the game crashes when he approaches.
Gage; You think Gage is playing a kids game? He has shit to do. Like pirate it and sell copies for dirt cheap. Not even to make money, he just does it for the principle. The principle of fuck you, I will make as many copies of this shit as I damn well please. Probably has his face hung up in Mojang HQ, with darts stuck in the one good eye. Would play if he could join the side of the Pillagers. Yeah, sure. He could just set villages on fire himself...but where's the community in that?
Hancock; Owns the server. Keeps it on harder difficulties for the challenge, but not so much of a...whatever you call Cait's type of player. Avid builder, Goodneighbor is a massive project recreating Boston. It's not quite 1 to 1, but still damn impressive. But, hey, if Bobby wants to build places from Grognak, that's chill. Doesn't care about aesthetic or accuracy, just wants to relax and let the creative juices flow. Hancock himself lives in a giant mushroom he made out of mushroom blocks, wool, and mycelium. Pet of choice? Mushroom cow, obviously, courtesy of X6.
MacCready; Got sick for a week. Built the entire Ux-Ron galaxy on the other side of the river. Doesn't remember it, was hopped up on Nyquil and chicken broth in hot water. The resident hunter, when he isn't on a grape-chicken-liquid diet. He's good at building, but can get bored quickly. Aim is...frightening. Can kill a chicken across any gulf. Takes the nightshift guard duty to shoot down Phantoms. His house is a crashed UFO. Even got Deacon to do his redstone trickery, so it lights up all blinky when you trigger a plate at the door. Has a parrot for a pet.
Nick; One of the more adventurous ones. Goes off with Preston, X6, and Cait to explore the different biomes. The resident potion master. It's just a puzzlegame, but for cocktails that can make you jump real high. Keeps a garden with various ingredients, often ventures into the Nether for blaze powder and rods. Has a spawner caged up, so he just smacks them through the door. Writes down all potion or poison recipes in an in-game book and quill. The trial-and-error- failed recipes are also listed, so it's 200+ pages long. His potion hut is built like a speakeasy, and he lives in the basement with a black cat. Would fill the place with ravens, if they weren't in the spin-off game. Third line of defense in town—keeps a chest full of splash poisons. Occasionally opens it and stares at them, like he's not sure if he's willing to commit such an act.
Piper; Obsessed with the underwater update. Always diving for treasure and sunken ships and temples. Keeps all of the knickknacks in a chest back at Goodneighbor, not even for use. Piper isn't even an ocean kinda gal in real life, but...it's so pretty! And the dolphins are so cute! Trades resources for water-breathing potions from Nick. Fills out so many maps, keeps them framed on a massive wall on the Goodneighbor docks. Also keeps a book-and-quill with coordinates and traveling notes, it's longer than Nick's recipe book. Lives in an underwater bubble habitat off the coast of Goodneighbor. Keeps a pink dolphin in a massive glass habitat outside.
Preston; Resident archeologist. Excavates ruins and structures to study them. Spent a month in real life sponging up an underwater temple. Even longer digging out an End fortress. Goes into mineshafts and renovates them entirely, puts signs and maps up. Takes X6 most often on his expeditions, has his own wall of land-maps. Preston spends a lot of time studying the builds left in the world and pondering the historical implications. Real theorist over here. He's fascinated with the subtle story telling and clues. The End keeps him up at night. His house is the huge community library. Also keeps books, writes down his notes and theories. Has a llama for traveling. If anything happened to it, would be very distraught.
X6-88; Resident mercenary. Nick accidentally summoned the Wither? There's a baby zombie running around? Deacon's rabbits have broken out the windows, and the server is in legitimate danger if the horde grows any larger? Get X6-88. Appears with a clap of thunder on his black warhorse, wielding only the most enchanted of weapons, wearing the most enchanted of armor. He does all the hard, dangerous work. Clears out the Nether, the End, Dark Forests, Pillager encampments...X6 is the hard hitter that goes out into danger, whereas Cait stays behind to defend. Is the one who leashes animals and painstakingly brings them back to Goodneighbor, occasionally with Danse's help. He lost his mind, looking for pandas for Curie. Keeps one as a pet in his house, which is the castle in the graveyard.

What The Fallout 4 Companions Would Give You On Your Birthday. +Maxson +Sturges +Gage
`Danse:
Danse Would have reluctantly asked sturges to help with his present as you were out with a different companion and he had time to think at sanctuary. He had settled on a new paint job and upgrade for your power armour and needed help. Luckily sturges was happy to!
`Macready:
Macready is all about making stuff instead of buying it and as a sentimental person, things that truly came from the heart were wayy better then getting you something from a merchant or vendor. He ended up stitching together a nice old bikers jacket he found outside of The Third Rail and after some help from deacon and his clothing skills, managed to make a dogmeat patch to sew onto the back. He was really nervous to give it to you but you loved it so much you just had to show dogmeat the cute patch on the back!
`Maxson:
Maxson was a busy man and to not seem to be playing favourites to the rest of the squad here in Boston, he decided to give you a 25% off at all brotherhood owned stores in the commonwealth.
`Nick:
You knew nick would get you something traditional. He is a traditional man and you weren't too surprised when you found him outside your door with an old-timey cook book. You weren't exactly sure how to supplement Roast pork with cooked mole rat and have it taste the same. But you were thankful nonetheless.
`Hancock:
Hancock had gotten the entirety of goodneighbor to wait underneath his balcony and sing you happy birthday, you were quite embarrassed that the ENTIRE town was singing to just YOU but it sure was a once in a lifetime experience...
`Codsworth/Curie
Codsworth and curie had come together to pick you a HUGE Bouquet of flowers from all over the commonwealth. Whilst curie knew the best places to find the best looking flowers, codsworth was quick at work to find the best looking vase and bow for the flowers💐.
`Gage:
Gage would present you with a one of a kind Nuka World t-shirt he snatched from Nuka-colas creator John-Caleb Bradberton, whilst you were exploring the house. "It ain't much boss, but it sure beats nothin."
`Preston/ Sturges:
Preston and sturges were the ones to set up the birthday party at sanctuary. They organised who would attend and scavenged some Halloween decorations that sturges painted into bright popping colours that stood out against the more neutral coloured houses. Mumma Murphy baked a cake and they were all just as excited to celebrate your birthday with you...
`Deacon:
Deacon gifted you a poorly wrapped pair of visor sunglasses in almost perfect condition. Said he had to fight off 2 deathclaws for them. Then he said he actually had to scavenge them from the roof of a raiders den. You never really got the real story from him but did enjoy the glasses paired with the new jacket from Macready!
`X6-88:
X6 decided a new upgrade to your pipboy was the way to go as well as a brand new colour scheme for the pipboys shell. He got an upgrade from one of the scientists from the institute - teleporter. Quick teleport to any location on the map if it was within a 500mile radius from the institute. The man can only do so much with today's tech...
`Piper:
Piper was excited to give you a scalf she had knitted together herself. Although the colour scheme was picked by her sister, she insisted the red went just as well with your blue jumpsuit!
`Cait:
Cait proudly handed you a black mahogany baseball batt wrapped in extremely rusted wire and your anitials carved into the handle of the wood. "Almost as good as mine" she cackled as you swung the batt around.

What Companions Give Jasmine for Her Birthday
Nick Valentine: He’s the one to put together a little birthday party for his daughter, gathering up all the companions and arranging the decor and food. The party is scheduled to be held at Sanctuary during the afternoon, but on the morning of her birthday he wakes her up with a kiss on the forehead and a platter of fresh pancakes in hand. The gift he got for his kid is an adorable fuzzy plush kitten with big brown eyes and a pink ribbon wrapped around its neck. He thinks the soft toy looks like Jas and he’s delighted to see that the girl is gushing over how cute it is. (Nick got her some more things but for the sake of time I won’t put it here)
Piper Wright: Notices that the girl has an attraction to shiny and sparkly things, so she sets out to find a gift that fits that description. To her dismay, most of the time when she asks a trader if they have something shiny she is usually shown a polished gun or knife. Not wanting to gift her a weapon, she has to look elsewhere. But soon she realizes something. There are shiny things around, they just aren’t polished. She digs around in trinket baskets until she finds beautiful but dull rose gold necklace and hair pins, each having a flower sculpted onto it. After Piper finds Codsworth and lets him do his magic, she gets a blue jewelry box and places the newly polished trinkets inside so she can gift it to the girl. She beams with delight when Jas opens the box and her eyes twinkle at the sight of pretty shiny things.
Codsworth: Scrounges together a collection of prewar books that he carefully cleans and restores to perfection, adding little ribbon bookmarks to the binders. He sets them all inside a little bookshelf that he made to look like a dollhouse, painting it a light pink and placing a birthday bow on top. The Mr Handy also puts together a bouquet of flowers in a vase to add alongside the little library he created. He proudly gifts it to the teen, stating that a smart young lady like herself deserves to have a whole library of books at her fingertips, and she can start building one with this collection.
Preston Garvey: He knows that the girl has a fondness for anything that’s floral scented, so he plans to make her a gift basket that’s filled with anything in the theme of flowers. He finds some candles, perfumes, and lotions to add in, arranging them to look like how they did in magazines. The biggest find he got was a perfume that’s scented and in the shape of a rose, Jasmines favorite flower. He cuts up shiny foil paper and adds it in to help it stand out. The final touch is some freshly picked hubflowers and carrot flowers sprinkled all over. Preston hands it off to the girl with a bright smile and the best wishes for her birthday, watching as she lights up at the familiar scent of prewar flowers that don’t really exist anymore.
Curie: Knows exactly what to get for the girl for her special day. Earlier while searching through an abandoned home, she found a weighted blanket that was still in good condition sitting in the attic, something that she thinks will be a wonderful gift to the girl. Curie initially has a difficult time moving the blanket back to her home, but she’s able to recruit Preston to lend her a hand in lifting. To add her own sweet little touch, she decided to embroider kittens playing with yarn on patches which she sews onto the blanket. She has to ask Jasmine to follow her in order to give her the gift. Curie is bubbling with excitement when she shows the teen the warm blanket that’s wrapped snuggly around a plush rabbit. She giggles with delight when Jazzy turns around to hug her in thanks, hoping that the blanket will keep the girl who’s normally very cold warm and toasty.
Cait: Not sure what to gift the girl, she herself can’t recall ever getting a birthday gift as a kid so she has no understanding. She wants her gift to be meaningful in someway, something she wanted to be gifted to her when she was a kid. After much thought she goes up to Mama Murphy and asks if she can teach her how to knit a scarf. She chooses a pretty and soft pink skein of yarn then gets to work on the scarf bit by bit. The former cage brawler isn’t used to sitting around doing a time consuming project that takes lots of patience at first, but she’s determined to see it through. By the end, she’s proud of her final product with there only being a few lopsided and sticking out stitches. When she gives it to the girl, she states that she knows it isn’t much, but she hopes that Jasmine can understand that it’s coming from a deeper place in her heart. This results in the girl wrapping Cait in a bone-crushing hug, whispering that it’s lovely and perfect.
Deacon: During the week leading up to her birthday, Deacon is asking her the strangest questions to try and throw her off. Questions like what’s her favorite color of M&M’s, what’s her favorite texture, what’s her preferred choice if cheese, and so on. Nothing relates to anything so she’s kept guessing what he’s gonna ask next. When he finally gets around to giving this alluded gift, everyone is surprised to see its a bunch of everyday objects. But upon further inspection by Jasmine, she finds that each item has a special twist to them. The pair of pink sunglasses? There’s a rearview mirror inside so she can see who’s behind her. The teddy bear? Its head screws off and shows a hidden jar inside. The pen and notebook? The pen is a recording device and the notebook has a hidden compartment for storing private letters. In the end it’s all things that a spy might need to keep their cover hidden, and she gives a knowing wink to Deacon who gives a thumbs up in return.
Danse: Completely lost on what to get a teenage girl for her birthday, he’s afraid that he might mess up. The weeks following up to her birthday, the former paladin closely watches Jas when she’s out walking in the market place to figure out what catches her attention and what doesn’t. Danse notes that she always stopped to run her fingers through any dresses she finds, so she must have a liking to those. He goes to Becky Fallon who helps with finding a dress that’s her size and in her favorite color, which is pink. Nervously, he carefully wraps the gift in wrapping paper and hands it off to the girl, watching as she opens it and immediately freeze when she sees what it is. He quickly stammers that she can return it if it’s not to her liking, but gets cut off when Jas tackles him in a hug screaming that she loves it. Mission accomplished!
Hancock: Already spoils his baby sister with little trinkets and toys he buys and finds here and there, but her birthday gift must be extra special and memorable. He first hunts down the most elegant and efficient dagger on the market, using his influence and persuasive skills to secure it. Next he finds someone who can engrave a little rose pattern on the blade and the handle. The final part is making a custom sheath out of leather to keep her new dagger safe. He does it himself, doing his best to mimic the pattern from the handle onto the sheath when he embroiders it with sturdy string. The mayor grins ear to ear when he hands it to her, watching as Jasmines eyes light up when she sees how beautiful it is and she thanks him with a hug.
MacCready: Goes on a comic book hunt in the Wastes to cobble together a small collection to gift to the girl. He starts off by trading any duplicates of comics he has for new ones, aiming to get ones that have the Inspector in them because Jasmine shows favor to her. Once he’s done all he can with trading, he goes to scrounging through any comic store or house in the area. He has to tear through a considerable amount of foes but he manages to get his hands on a few more issues. Still, he fears his gift is too skimpy compared to others as he wraps it up. But that doubt gets melted away when the teen jumps up and down over her new comic collection, barely being able to thank him while she rushes to check out each issue with a sparkle in her eye.
X6: It took him awhile to figure out what to get Jas, for once he didn’t feel incline to give something for tactical use only. He decided he wanted this gift to be for pure fun, the kid deserved it after all. He walks up to the teen when everyone isn’t looking and hands her a small box that’s no bigger than her hand, then promptly leaves. Inside she’s delighted and overjoyed to find a copy of Grognak & the Ruby Ruins holotape, in perfect condition. He may or may have not killed a few people to obtain the rare item, but the blood wiped off easily and those people where pieces of scum anyways.
Strong: Throws down a fully upgraded super sledge that was ripped from the hands of a super mutant master at Jasmines feet, proudly claiming that the girl is a worthy enough warrior to wield the mighty weapon. He’s enthusiastic when the teen lifts it up and asks if they should try it out in downtown. He’s also oblivious to the fact that Nick is looking on with concern. (Strong honey, that sledge hammer is almost bigger than Jazzy)
Dogmeat: Knows that the girl loves to hold soft plushy things that look just like his favorite toy bear that he throws in the air, so he figures that she’ll want another one. He goes sniffing around the Commonwealth in search for the perfect plush toy, but all the plushies he scrounges up are dingy and dirty, completely unfit to give to the girl who deserves a pristine clean one. Finally after much searching, he finds a plush for sale at a caravan stand that would be wonderful gift. It even looks exactly like him! The pup dances and spins in front of the toy until Nick figures out that he wants it and buys it for him. While everyone else is giving the teen her gifts Dogmeat proudly trots up to her with the stuffed dog in his mouth, placing it at her feet. He’s immediately tackled with plenty of cuddles and kisses from the girl who adores her new stuffy.
#Ugh I love it when I can write Jasmine all cuddly and bubbly.#She’s so fricking cute that way!#I can only imagine someone reading this as their first impression of Jasmine then figuring out how she initially starts.#My girl went from dark rain and gloomy to happy sunshine and bubbles.#fallout 4#fo4#fallout#fallout oc#fallout original character#nick valentine#john hancock#curie#piper wright#fallout 4 companions#paladin danse#danse#fo4 danse#fallout danse#x6 88#codsworth#preston garvey#preston#cait#fallout 4 curie#curie fallout 4#dogmeat#deacon#deacon fo4#robert joseph maccready#maccready

A box is left on the porch again(Although, it was put there at a very weird hour, in the morning). This has carefully painted emeralds all over, sticking out like an incredibly sore thumb.
Inside, there were more pieces of hand-made jewelry, There weren't as many as last time, and it was only rings(again, purely for decoration).
There was one that looked similar to the sapphire on the necklace Preston was given before.
I wonder who left this?...
He was running out of ideas of what to do with this. He'd given some of the last ones to Pacifica— as much as he enjoyed the rocks themselves, she clearly appreciated she jewelery perse
His attention focused on the zaphire. Has he returned it? Or was he trying to 'match'? It was lovely either way. He put it on, along with the last necklace

Brooksville, Florida
Quick Brooksville, Florida History Brooksville, Florida was originally known as Melendez and then Benton. Incorporated in 1856, it is a wonderful city featuring a hilly terrain that ranges in elevation from 175 to 274 feet. There is a long history of successful planters, growers, and cattlemen in and around Brooksville. Its southern background is reflected in its name, honoring South Carolina Congressman Preston Brooks who is best noted for hitting abolitionist Senator Charles Sumner on the head with his cane. Brooksville's downtown area features the iconic Hernando Courthouse, along with great shopping in unique stores featuring everything from antiques, outfits, high-end resale, stationery, flowers and bric-a-brac to formal gowns – and stationery. Some streets still show the Augusta bricks laid by hand. Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation mural painted by Justin Alsedek is on Brooksville's City Hall building, which houses a free art gallery upstairs. Things to Do in Brooksville, Florida There are several downtown restaurants and coffee shops, along with legal and banking offices, a library, and more than one park. Brooksville has been working hard to revive its downtown to attract more visitors and became a Florida Main Street community in 2016. For those looking for things to do in Brooksville, the Main Street organization holds several events in Brooksville's downtown area as well as farmers and artist markets, and a simply magical holiday celebration of all things Christmas during December with everything from musical trees to performing artists, decorations galore and horse-drawn carriage rides. Local art is displayed in several downtown businesses and buildings, as well as murals painted throughout the downtown area. A walking tour map of the downtown murals may be found here. The Brooksville City Hall building houses a changing art exhibit in Gallery 201, and all are welcome. There is no charge. The architecture is interesting in several buildings and when looking for things to do in Brooksville, Florida, a wonderful historic walking tour can be had for the simple act of following the map here. If you would like more information about each building on the historic tour, download the complete guide here. (Please note that the Hernando Chamber of Commerce has moved to Brooksville's Tampa Bay Regional Airport. The guide is dated, but the history and map are accurate.) Historic homes are throughout the downtown area and a tour has been mapped out. There are two B & Bs, including this one, known as the Mirador. Another popular thing to do in Brooksville, Florida, is to visit the May Stringer Museum, located at 600 West Jefferson. Housed in the 1850 Stringer House, a Queen Anne masterpiece with a four-story tower, this historic building is reputed to be haunted. There are daily tours Tuesday - Saturday led by docents and the price of admission is only $10 for adults, $5 for children, free for those under 6 years of age, but the exhibits seem more adult-friendly. F. L. Stringer was a State Senator and judge. With thousands of historic artifacts and regular tours, it commemorates the Civil War era and provides a glimpse at the lifestyle and relics of a gone but not forgotten segment of American history. Ghost tours are held on Friday and Saturday nights by reservation. The May Stringer House houses a historical museum that is well worth a tour in Brooksville. It is said to be haunted. In addition to the May Stringer house there is a historic train depot to visit. Next to the historic train depot museum is a one-room schoolhouse to visit on Russell Street. Both of these museums are adjacent to Russell Street Park which has the Good Neighbor Trail running through it. The Good Neighbor Trail is a paved, multiuse trail that runs about 10.3 miles to connect with the Withlacoochee State Trail. Continue east to find another wonderful shopping area, featuring the Hawkins House and the Florida Cracker Trading Company and Tap Room. There is even an old-fashioned Coney Island where it is rumored that Elvis Presley may have eaten many years ago with an ice cream shop in front. The Florida Mermaid Trail In 2020, a Mermaid Trail was created in downtown Brooksville, which is part treasure hunt and part walking tour. It is an easy activity for one or more to get out and enjoy the historic brick streets and well-kept homes and businesses. Each February, a Mermaid Festival is held in Hernando Park, where residents and visitors compete for the best-dressed mermaids, with and without their pets, and meet the real mermaids of Weeki Wachee Springs State Park. The maps for the Mermaid Trail can be found at Florida's Adventure Coast Visitor Center, adjacent to the park. Expanding Beyond Brooksville’s City Limits You may want to travel north on US 41 to visit the historic Chinsegut Hill Historic Site and rediscover the magic that caused its last private owners to name it Chinsegut, meaning, “a place where lost things are found.” Learn their story of courage and civil rights for all, as well as a historic timeline of occupation during significant national events. And it's beautiful and somewhat magical. *Please note that Chinsegut Hill Museum is managed by the Tampa Bay History Center and is open on weekends for tours, as well as some outdoor events on select weekdays. An Emancipation Celebration is held in May. Originally constructed in the early 1800s, and then added onto by subsequent owners, the Chinsegut Manor House was renovated in 2013-2014 and has been restored to the splendor of its glory days. Image by Diane Bedard. Don't forget the Ice Cream Head back south on U.S. 41 and then travel east on S.R. 50/U.S. 98. Make a right on Spring Lake Highway (541) and follow it to the top of the hill. On the right is Boyett’s Grove Citrus and Timeless Attraction. Here you will find a wonderful animal park where you can feed the animals, a dinosaur cave, taxidermy museum, birds, snakes, an alligator named, "Elvis", and more. A putt-putt golf course winds through part of this fun-filled tourist trap. There’s even a snack bar, ice cream parlor, and an old-fashioned Florida gift shop! It’s one of my favorite places on the Nature Coast. Read the full article

Japanese Omamori charms:
These are Japanese amulets that you can get from both Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples. Shinto and Buddhism are the two major beliefs in Japan and its shrines and temples are still very much treasured and visited in Japan. I heard you are supposed to return them after about a year as the idea is that you borrow the luck temporarily and at the shrines or temples they do the steps to return the luck back to the gods. However, as I can't go to Japan I still have heaps of these at home. I don't know maybe I'm terribly cursed.
Furoshiki Cloth:
A furoshiki is a square piece of cloth that originates from I believe sometime before the 10th century that is used to wrap and carry goods or for decoration. They tend to have traditional Japanese patterns or have lots of significant seasonal prints. I got this right before I first moved to New Zealand back when I was 6. I used it to wrap my clothes and shoved it into the suitcase. It's important for me as it's nostalgic and reminds me of the biggest turning point of my life. It almost feels like a ticket to flip my life around. Japanese traditional patterns and the importance of seasons in its culture fascinate me and I was inspired by it a lot, particularly in the yr1sem1 concertina project and yr2sem1 publication.
Old painting series:
This is the art board from the painting class back in year 13. This is where I started looking into the Impressionist art movement in more depth and practising it through my own works which I think triggered a lot of works and stylistic choices. I also mentioned in the formative presentation that this was heavily inspired by Studio Ghibli or other animation movies and their background art. Still to this day, I take great inspiration from Impressionism and its ideals or concepts. I looked at some other contemporary artists who had a significant impact on me such as Nathaniel Dorsky, Eric Roux-Fontaine, Rex Preston, Toshio Ebine, Naohisa Inoue, Reynier Llanes, etc.
Naohisa Inoue Book:
I first saw Inoue's works through the movie Whisper of the Heart by Studio Ghibli. His works were featured and animated in. a section of the movie and Hayao Miyazaki states that he is very fond of Inoue's paintings. He also created a short film solely inspired by (and used) Inoue's works called Iblard Time (Iblard Jikan). I was personally very influenced by his works, particularly in years 12-13 for painting boards. Furthermore, this has led to my interest in Japanese arts and culture as well as Impressionism. I studied a lot of his painting techniques and applied them to my works. I think it fed my experimental artistic thinking and my love for fantasy and nostalgia.
Concertina Project:
Self-Matters concertina project was the first ever studio paper that we worked on in university and it challenged us to visually express our self-identity. The main keyword that sparked my ideas was 'intangibility' and I approached the design thinking more about non-holdable identities like birthdays, fortune tellings, and Japanese culture. The fact that it was the first project I did in university makes it significant as a major turning point, but it also made me dive extremely deep into my identity and I think it took my thinking to places I had never been before. I think it also has a lot of influences from all of the creatives that I have mentioned so far, even ones that I didn't put in the presentation. It has so much symbolism scattered across the whole concertina that cannot be explained in any few words. As I work through my university degree I keep coming back to this project as it reminds me of my origins in a language that is incredibly personal to me and me only. It's like a treasure box of intangible unspoken stories that I will always hold, perhaps never told.

How the Companions would decorate their homes
...and how I would lose my goddamn mind wrestling with Tumblr's formatting nightmare hellworld.
sorry to anon who requested this, I deleted your ask while fighting for my life :[
Cait; The punkest of punk design; whatever the hell makes her happy. Would take interest in things she previously never cared much for, like music, or tinkering, or model making. So, you'll have posters and vinyls of her favorite bands and artists everywhere, tools and materials strewn about flat surfaces. Lots of reds and plaid/flannel. Likes big couches you can sprawl out on and thickly-knit, chunky blankets. Think of pop art with darker colors, chaotic patterns. Loves warm, bright lighting, dim areas remind her of the Combat Zone. Her spaces are messy, but freeing and charismatic. Her style is best described as rocker college dorm room. Reminiscent of Chloe Price's room, but more mature and with less teen melodrama. Would have lots of candles. Has a statement shelf with feature lighting for unique alcohol bottles.
Codsworth; Post-modern. Modern is medium-toned, neutral colored, and somewhat minimalist. Post-modern likes colors, soft shapes, having art as part of the house itself. Bright wood paneling, one-line artwork wallpaper, multiple colors in one room. It's very birds of paradise in color pallet. Brown suede couches are a classic. Lots of plants. It's inspired by 1950s, but with bouncier aesthetics, where 1950s can feel stiff. Codsworth wouldn't want anything too out there, though. Dani Dazey is kinda close to what he'd enjoy, but tone down the amount of color, go less crazy with the decals. But otherwise, bright colors, patterns, textures—that's the vibe. Just a less plastic 1950s, and it doesn't have the Great Depression's fingerprints all over it. I would have said something Colonial, or classic British, but I didn't want to think exclusively about his accent. Codsworth is chipper, he's friendly, he invites people over. Something fun, welcoming, and optimistic is up his alley.
Danse; However he got the house/apartment, it would stay that way. Danse does not provide for himself like that. It wouldn't be until he made friends that his residence would have personality. Nick gets him an orange-patterned bedspread that's a lot more neon than it looked in the store. Cait gets him a retro CD player and wall-mounted CD case displays. Preston and Deacon team up to repaint everything minty green and install walnut wood paneling. The furniture is gone the next day, replaced with lodge-style log-and-leather. Everyone pitches in something different, something from their own tastes. As a result, Danse's space would be a constant visual reminder that he's loved, and gaudy as fuck. Nothing matches. The colors are everywhere. Textures? A nightmare. You could kill Ty Pennington with this house. There's a giant mural of cats having mimosas and he isn't sure how or when it got there. Loves it, but...who...why...
Curie; I really struggled with Curie. I first went with French Provincial, then French Farmhouse, French Country, Rustic Glam, Scandinavian, Flemish, bauhaus, pastel bauhaus...I felt like I was trying to convince myself of everything. Nothing fit her. Eventually I settled on girly vintage. The thing with vintage is that technically, 'vintage' has like 70 years of vastly different styles. So...you get a little bit of Victorian-esque, a little bit of art deco, Hollywood Regency...imagine a really nice Barbie dollhouse. That's the vibe, just make everything blues, greens, and purples instead of pink. Curie has a bit of an older grandma vibe. Floral quilts, Wedgwood china dishware and cabinets, antique paintings. I imagine she'd repaint or reupholster her furniture, if not get it new. Definitely has white or blue painted furniture, rather than open wood. Ornate vanity, seashell wallscone lighting, embroidered curtains, kidney desks, corner cupboards...Curie's style is elegant, a little outdated, cherubic, and somewhat saccharine. Would have naturalistic wallpaper with flora and fauna.
Deacon; Like Danse's, but intentional. He's extremely fond of furniture made to look like other things. Mushroom ottomans. Fried egg light switches. Wall-mounted shelving/hangers that are open, grabbing hands. Toucan table lamps. Surrealist thrifter in style. Goes to yard sales, estate sales, those sales put by storage unit owners when a tenant doesn't pay. Grabs the weirdest shit he finds. A McDonalds sign from Thailand. A taxidermied rabbit. A Bigfoot track mold. His walls are never the same color or wallpaper. The kitchen is mint green, the living room is pink and orange, his bedroom is black and blue. Maximalist. There's a story behind every item in his space and good luck figuring out which are true. The least chaotic room is the bedroom, decorated simply with space/star aesthetics. Most chaotic? The empty hallway filled with wall-phones. Only one of them is real. The others go off only when the real one does. He won't tell you this before housesitting.
Gage; You'd think it'd be a Male Living Space. No. Gage is a mean, old, materialistic [sexuality redacted] man. He has tastes. He has standards. Will act like it's a Male Living Space keep up appearances, but his place is probably one of the more expensive. It's fine, money isn't an issue for him. Favors greens, yellows, browns, lots of swampy colors. Steals streetsigns and hangs them up. Weaved and leather furniture, linens, animal pelts, mounts. Worn teak wood, cream walls, travertine floors. If this sounds luxurious, consider that Gage lives here. Unclean. Has no bed frame, only a mass of sheets and pillows. The most pristine places in his house are the coffee maker's counter, and the spaces for his pet lizard, who roams freely like a small dog. The lizard is the only thing keeping him from smoking indoors. So many fucking books everywhere, all dog-eared to death. Has stolen something from every party he's ever been to. Keeps them on display. Has a worrying amount of wedding cake toppers.
Hancock; Psychedelic culture-nerd hippie meets a grizzled ex-starlet who moonlights as a show girl. Think Whimsigoth, without the victorian influence and a lot more drippy shapes. All light sources are lava lamps. Conversation pit that you could meet God in. Many colors, most of them moody and 'sleepy'. Stereo system through the entire space. Paints on his walls whenever he's feeling creative/high, they're constantly changing. Has to scrape off the paint every so often. Collects movie memorabilia, particularly horror movies. Has masks, outfits, props. His kitchen/dining room is unintentionally Japanese-eqsue in style, in that the table is low, and you sit on beanbags. Really not into dealing with chairs in the morning. Hancock's ideal furniture is made of moldable jelly, him being a cat in spirit. His office is a complete divorce from the other rooms. It's entirely 1700s luxury Colonial in style. Dark mahogany woodwork, deep reds and blues, a (electric) chandelier. Big library.
MacCready; Eclectic. This style is defined by maximilism, mismatched everything, lots of tchotchkes. The core tenent of it is that it takes whatever looks good from other styles. It's magpie core. It's how the gremlin thief in your DnD campaign would style a home. So, lots of different kinds of fabrics, many shelves for trinkets, posters of all kinds on the wall. You ever make a wall with just the posters, signs, etc in your settlements? That's what he does. In canon, MacCready likes midnight blue and leopard print, but I can see olive greens as well. Very messy and busy. Raw wood furniture seems like it would be a good fit for him. Would have a big entertainment center, very nerdy space. I think Rodrick Heffley's and Eddie Munson's bedrooms are a good way of getting an idea. Kind of basementy, kind of glamrock. He's 22, what do you want from him? Very much "baby's first place." Duncan's room would be more child-friendly, lighter colors and softer furniture. His drawings always get hung up wherever there's space.
Nick; Also struggled with this one...I didn't want to just make him Victorian/Gothic, that felt too obvious. But...it's obvious because it's correct. It just is. His name is Valentine. He has a neon pink sign with hearts on it. This man is modern Victorian meets dingy alleyway in a Hollywood noir film. So, we're looking at victorian settees and woodwork (which is when the walls are carved all fancy, by the by), lots of dark colors, leathers, a fireplace to stare into broodily with a glass of whiskey. We'll also need a bit of industrial to blend the Modern Victorian and Urban Night vibes, so some dark brick/stone, perhaps? Or industrial light fixtures. In terms of materials, the aforementioned leather, but also velvet and dasask fabrics, marble, and rosewood, possibly treated to bring out the red, or be made darker. This space is mostly dark and black, with pops of pink, purple, and blues. Would definitely need an LED indirect lighting for mood setting. It's not as dark like X6-88's home, though, it's more intimate and warm. Heavier emphasis on coziness and inviting auras. Nick's home is an older queer man's home, so obviously it's a little extra, a little theatrical. Has a sweet cocktail bar setup, will make you a martini while you unveil your tragic backstory.
Piper; Also eclectic, but brighter and with some intellectualism. So, more vintage, but bolder and more assertive than Curie's vintage. The best thing I can do it point you towards Arianna Danielson's blog, and ask that you imagine most of those pinks to be darker, or just red. Similarly, Dani Klaric and Tay Beep Boop's viral design. That vibe of confidence, a little bit of feminine rebelliousness, and generally just spunky. A crucial item would be book paper lighting shades. It clashes but Piper would be into it. I imagine she'd want the place to be fun for Nat, satisfy that little girl urge for Maximum Colors. Piper would have a messy as hell writing room, papers everywhere, red-string corkboards, coffee cups. Collection of vintage newspapers, lots of plushy rugs and pillows, probably has weird little knickknacks hidden about. The type to have rubber ducks in her fridge and refuse to elaborate. Don't question the writing process.
Preston; Walnut, shiplap, rattan, navy blue. Reeves Connally put me on this combination and now I'm spreading the propaganda. People have feelings on rattan but it deserves more respect, just like Preston. His style is best described as hygge with a beachy edge. Hygge is all about neutrals, extremely soft and squishy fabrics and furniture, warm ambient lighting, and worn wood. Fairy lights everywhere. Cozycore, really. Blue and shiplap walls, walnut flooring, rattan furniture. Blues + white + sandy + rich brown. Best combo. Fucking fight me. Chunky wool blankets, velvet for more decorative cloths, like drapery or the fabric of the seat cushions. For decor, you're looking at handdrawn maps, paper light fixtures/shades, plants kept in colored glass vases, nature photography, a reading nook filled with historical fiction and textbooks. I can also see hanging greenery. Preston's space is refreshing, energizing, but not bombastic. I imagine he has a kitchen island with stools, but no dining table.
X6-88; Dark modernist, hands down. Crucial item is the Zaha Hadid moon sofa, in black. Steel, concrete, and sparingly, brass/brassy wood. Blacks, greys, and with the brass, an inoffensive pop of color. It's a minimalist style that, when darkened, takes inspiration from Gothic and industrial styles, but doesn't lean into them. Also has some futurism elements. X6-88's home is clean, elegant, sharp. It's designed to not be overstimulating, like the Institute's stark white plastic and fluorescent lighting is. LED indirect lighting + metal-caged hanging lights, velvet and taffeta fabrics, glass tables. There is no better kitchen for him then the Modern Kitchen 2020 from Burak LACFI on Behance. For the bathroom, Anna Kolos' work, also on Behance. His bedspread, the Ithaca Sateen set from Sleep by Sānti. I spent three years designing this man's home for a 40k word fanfic and I will hear no opposition.

THE PRESENTATION GAME
Bella! Shouted my mother, take your child to work day! Yay! I laced up my cute ballet flats and floral dress; topped off with a flower crown I made from flowers from my backyard. It was a sunny day with a good chance of realizing my career path. My Mother and I got in her Volvo and reviewed our first client of the day. Maria Barrett and her loft apartment. We arrived at approximately 10 AM. Maria was a twice divorced widow who inherited a large amount of money from Chester Kid, her second husband who didn’t have any family. It was Maria where I noticed being an interior designer was like being Nancy Drew. I could be a spy. Back then, I loved the idea of getting my hands dirty and solving the mysteries of the rich. SCARED, I sit today knowing that back then I didn’t realize that interior designing is more insightful than being an A-level pervert. Place yourself in the shoes of 18 year old Bella, she’s about to knock on the door of her biggest mistake. Hi, I looked up. I’m Preston Case, your new project. Weird wording was my first thought but I was distracted by his face. I thought his cheekbones were very beautiful and his hair so long and swift. Ignore him, said a tall woman standing 6 six feet behind, leaning up against a glass table with seashells on it. Her pencil skirt and brass hair, It was alluring. My husband is 10 years younger, can you tell? I stood unable to speak. I felt like Annie approaching Miss Hannigan and Rooster. It was intimidating but I felt like a VIP at the cool kid’s party. C’mon come inside, said Preston. I walked into their moden home. The walls were covered with paintings of Pelicans and seashells. The floor was hard wood and it smelled of citrus. I never introduced myself. I'm Sandra Case, she stood towering over me in her white blouse and her nude high heels. Hello, I shook her hand. Sandra brought me to the living room. I want to redo this mess. Sandra shoved the silk pillow off the leather couch. I reached down to pick it up. Never touch my furniture. I’m sorry, I said. This is a 10,000 dollar pillow from Egypt. I swallowed my pride and in my head went bonkers over the fact that no matter how rich you are, how could you drop $10,000 on a pillow?! I mean that could go to a charity or even a I mean i don’t know it could go somewhere better than an egyptian pillow. Ever since that tense moment with Sandra I could barely focus on my job. I mean, I was 18 as an interior designer for a SERIOUSLY RICH clientele. It was beyond exciting but now when I show up for work I can’t believe the audacity of Sandra. I went home after my third day of work and I couldn’t get that moment out of my head. I arrived in my mother’s closet and looked through all of her pieces. I found, deep in the archives, a vintage dress from Balmain. I tried it on and felt 40 years old. Mature, responsible, business woman, alluring. I felt like Sandra. The next day I showed up wearing that exact dress and Sandra was treating me a lot better. I guess when I showed up looking all lolita she felt she could treat me badly. If she wanted to play the presentation game I knew I could let go of myself a smidge to win. Let the games begin. I’ve never been looked at the way Preston looked at me. Creeping up behind me with his stare only to present the idea. Would you like to cook dinner for us tonight? Preston leaned in closer. I felt obligated to say yes, so I did. Mom always wanted to know about my work days. As time went on I felt numb to my feelings when I went over to their house. Designing became a job not a fun hobby with money involved. When work turns into agonizing work, then, it’s not what you love. I stopped going into details when telling Mom about work. It was dinner night and Sandra gifted me an apron. When I met Preston I cooked dinner for him in this same number. I questioned, was this worth it? Cut to me cooking lobster bisque. I knew if I ever wanted to make a statement as an interior decorator I HAD to do this right. You know you're a very young success story. Sandra pointed out. I am? I said. Yes, be careful of trainw

It's been a few days since the last gift, hasn't it?
There was a galaxy-painted box with a blue ribbon tied carefully around it. Clearly he had taken his time with this box. Inside, there was padding, like the stuff on the bottom of a ring box. Inside, and there were quite a few pieces of jewelry that seemed handmade inside. Such as bracelets and a few rings(that are PURELY for decoration, not wedding rings). There were a few in his colors, but the rest were colors that Preston's family usually wore(Such as Red for Bud, Pale yellow for Pacifica, etc).
I wonder who left this?…
Wow, he clearly took his time with this one. He was glad that, as awkward as the last conversation had been, they rememained in good terms
Yet, the new jewlery let him conflicted. He hasn't exactly told his family about these gifts (although he was pretty sure Pacifica has known from the start, damn that kid got his smarts) , at first because he considered it a sort of prank or threat directed solely to himself, as time went on the activity felt far too personal to begin explaining to them.
He grabbed a red bracelet, thinking deeply. He... hasn't been the best to his brother, has he? He's barely been alone in the same room with him.
They should talk. About a lot
He took the bracelet with him, along with an emerald green ring
