Okay so you remember how srk was all older brother in this movie yeah scoups for sure. Also I love the dynamics between Ram and Lakshman (Very scoups and dino also maybe mingyu coded) . Plus i just think he's a shy awkward dork in everyday life but would have this alt cool persona.Also him being an idiot in love? SIGN ME UP!

Jeonghan - Prem Sharma (APKGK)

Prem was a sweetheart in Ajan Prem ki Gazab Kahani. He is so jeonghan coded cause like he wants everyone to be happy duh he's the president of Happy club but he's also mischievous and just ready to bend the rules to make people he cares for happy. Comes off as this cocky idc person but is the biggest softie.

Joshua - Raj Malhotra (DDLJ)

Okay so you remember Srk with the ukele in the mustard fields YEAH THAT'S JOSH. Except he's most probably playing Sunday morning. He's the gentleman (Sometimes) who is a little crazy. Very Raj coded he's fun and flirty and funny but can also be serious if the situation demands it. A big family guy and your family's approval matters a lot. The only difference is that he'd charm your parents in seconds no Jaa simran Jaa for you your parents approved 10 mins after they met him.

Jun - Jai Singh Rathore (Jaane tu ya jaane Na)

Jun is a baby but ykw so is jai. Jai is the pinnacle of the imran Khan romcom universe he's sweet caring funny and wierd oh and also oblivious which also describes jun very well.Hes in love with his bestfriend (LOVE THAT HE CALLS HER MEOW MY CAT!JUN AGENDA IS WINNING)but doesn't realise that until she starts seeing someone else I love the jealousy and confusion .Plus this whole thing plays into my childhood best friends to lovers trope i see jun as.

Hoshi - Rocky Randhawa (Rocky Aur Rani ki Prem Kahani)

This Outfit Ik Hoshi would love it. Okay Hoshi is a himbo he's cute funny and a little bit dumb(lovingly) and that's very Rocky coded. Also I just see him as this doofus in love who will do anything and everything to keep you happy. also I just want him to say "handle with care I'm a fragile". Very emotionally intelligent.He may not know much about current affairs but he does know how to make you smile.

Wonwoo - Rohit Mehra (Koi Mil Gaya)

Okay hear me out on this one.I started thinking about parallels here but all began with that meme Maa mujhe sab dikh Raha hai but Rohit and wonwoo are pretty alike they are kind sensitive but confident people who love and care openly. He may be shy but he'll express his care and affection anyways. Also his jaadu is dino.

Woozi - Arjun Saluja (ZNMD)

They both are hot workaholics. Also just like Arjun learnt to live a little and enjoy life on the Spain trip I feel woozi did that during the Nana tour. They both can come off as the I don't like fun grumpy types but once they get into the mood of relaxing and having fun they become the life of the party. Both have that annoying friend who they hate lovingly (Hoshi and Imraan).

Dokyeom - Rohan Raichand (K3G)

This GIF is very Dk coded. I feel Raichand brothers are very puppy coded but they are puppies like dokyeom and not mingyu (I'm not making sense am i?). He's the younger brother he's hot he's funny and he's a tease. This is Also because I feel dokyeom and Hrithik Roshan just look alike. Also very emotional likes just keeping everyone happy. Boyfriend Material through and through.

Mingyu - Adithya Kashyap (Jab we met)

I know what you guys are thinking that Adithya is this quieter soft character whereas mingyu is a big happy clingy puppy. Ik but I also have a theory so basically we see Adithya being all sad because shit has happened in his life but after geet heals him he's this happy and joyful person which makes me think that it was how he was before he felt let down by everyone and that happy joyful persona he has is like mingyus mingyu is optimistic and kind and caring he also is emotionally intelligent and very aware of what people around him are feeling and that's very Adithya coded.

Minghao - Aman Mathur (Kal ho na ho)

Yes. Minghao has that I'll do anything for Love vibe. While aman may be more outgoing I feel at core that Minghao and Aman are same people. Also Minghao seems like the person who will fall for Naina but then help her call for someone else.Makes people delulu but are very anti delulu duo.

Seungkwan - Baburao Ganpatrao Apte (Hera Pheri)

Honestly at first i considered Meenamma(Chennai Express) or Poo(K3G) for seungkwan but then i remembered Baburao. I'll fight for the BSS X HERA PHERI UNIVERSE. Also I feel they both have the same level of sass. Also the way Baburao and Raju behave ? that's Hoshi and seungkwan right there. Fucking funny both of them.

Vernon - Ranchhodas Chanchal (3 Idiots)

Normally I'd say BSS are all the 3 idiots aka Rancho, Farhan and Raju but I feel Vernon is a lot more like Rancho. He's smart intuitive and loyal to a fault person. Also I feel the whole thought process that Rancho had for learning ? yeah that's Vernon he learns what he enjoys, he's chill he's laid back just like Rancho. Plus i think he'd also wonder whether the nose comes in the middle while kissing.

Dino - Lakshman Sharma (Main hoon Na)

Okay I present you this gif. The minute i saw it my first thought was how dino coded the character is. The character is this younger brother who comes off as this non caring idgaf about anything but having fun but is actually very sad emo at times which I feel is also dino dino does things for the plot but he's a very old soul at heart. Plus I love the dynamics between lakshman and ram aka scoups and dino so heheh ig?

I am dying.

Blood pools around her head, and dribbles from her lips. It frames her head, like a crown bleeding into the dirt. She could have been great; she could have been horrible. None of it matters now. Just a girl, her life is snuffed out beneath a mountain where all children are born. She rejects her weak body; too young, too delicate, too pretty and too weak.

The only ones who know of her are her sister, an even younger girl who emerged from her ruby cocoon shortly after her, and her killers. To live is to survive. To live is to fight tooth and nail for food, resources, and warmth.

Her eyes flutter shut—so desperately willing to go.

She has only ever known darkness, save for that chamber with a kaleidoscope of gems encrusted in the walls. Inside each one, a living being curls upon itself and grows, grows, grows until the gem cannot contain it anymore. Sapphires, emeralds and onyxes—each one imbuing the children with properties to make them better than the others. There have only ever been two rubies.

There has only ever been one diamond, and his skin glimmers beneath the single sliver of light that filters in through a crack in the stone when he presides over all of them. His eyes are made of black, and his crown… his crown is made of gold . She had wanted it, once upon a time, but now… now she is so tired.

There’s no point.

Her sister shakes and begs her to get up. The chaos of fighting fades, more and more, into nothing. What is there to fight for? What is there to wake up for? Her sister will have one less mouth to feed; her sister is just as clever and cruel as she is. (But is she just as tired ?) Only a handful of them will make it out, such is the King’s will. Only the strongest, and the most vicious will earn their survival.

(And then what?)

Her head lulls, and she runs willingly to the light.

It comes as a whisper, a hot breath against her cooling skin.

It slips into her mind, and drowns out everything.

The world goes quiet, but purpose—purpose comes to her like a roar.

Listen now and heed to me, each word, a punch through her chest to keep her fading heart beating.

Listen now and heed to me,

for only this will set the red queen free.

The crown, the crown, oh how it weighs on her head. It glows against the red of her hair. Her joy at the thought makes her feel so light . Death is a gift, it is a fantasy that she has earned through tooth and claw. She has never felt so warm in her life, surrounded by people. They do not need to love her, only yield—they do not need to love her, only feed her hungering belly. She picks at her teeth; she wants a taste for it all.

Most of all, she wants to be free.

Beside her, beside her—

Soul of beast

and heart’s song bold

will put an end to stone’s cold hold.

The answer sets her ablaze . She must find him —her beast; he will free her.

A prophecy, she has seen a prophecy.

Her black eyes flick open.

Three sisters witches

Thank you to @offtorivendell, @silverlinedeyes, and @psychologynerd for our discussions which inspired this theory. This is a Maasverse post, and as such, there may be spoilers for all Maas series. Please proceed with caution.

“All three sisters blessed by fate and gifted with powers…” (Amren, acosf)

The acotar series begins with three sisters: Feyre, Nesta, and Elain. Given their ironwood origins and the fact that Ironteeth witches in Erilea use it to carve their brooms, many of us suspect the sisters have witch heritage or are connected to witches in some way.

The room was large enough for a rickety dresser and the enormous ironwood bed we slept in. The sole remnant of our former wealth, it had been ordered as a wedding gift from my father to my mother. It was the bed in which we’d been born, and the bed in which my mother died. In all the painting I’d done to our house these past few years, I’d never touched it. (acotar)

In Midgard and Erilea, witches worship the Three-Faced Goddess, and she is sometimes conflated with Fate…

Again, Manon felt that ebb and flow in the world, that invisible current that some called Fate and some called the loom of the Three-Faced Goddess. (hof)

In this quote, Manon feels an invisible current that goes by different names. That current sounds a lot like Urd in Midgard, Wyrd in Erilea, and the divine trio (Mother, Cauldron, Fate/Forces That Be) in Prythian. All of which sound like different forms (usually three) of the same higher being. The Fae believe this being controls fate, including fated bonds. Bonds, like spells, are described in terms of threads. Does this being weave threads of fate together with her loom, like witches seem to believe? She (they?) appears to be inspired by the Norns of Norse mythology, one of which is named Urðr (Wyrd). Together, these wise women preside over fate. In some folklore and literature, they are considered witches, like the Three Witches or Wyrd (Weird) Sisters in Shakespeare’s Macbeth, who deliver a prophecy.

The Three-Faced Goddess is also known, albeit rarely, as the Three-Faced Mother:

Manon couldn’t look at them, couldn’t do anything but close her eyes and pray to the Darkness, to the Three-Faced Mother as she held her hands over the bleeding gashes. (koa)

I’ve talked about links between the Archerons, witches, Three-Faced Goddess, and divine trio (Mother, Cauldron, Fate) before, so this isn’t new, but something caught my attention when reviewing the text recently. Ironteeth witches believe that they return to the Three-Faced Goddess when they die, and they are reborn within her womb. It’s called the Mother’s Womb.

“We’ll collect the dead tomorrow,” Manon said, her voice low. “And burn them at moonrise.” As both Crochans and Ironteeth did. A full moon tomorrow—the Mother’s Womb. A good moon to be burned. To be returned to the Three-Faced Goddess, and reborn within that womb. (koa)

This belief reminded me of the three sisters’ rebirth, particularly Nesta and Elain. We gain insight into this experience in Nesta’s book:

In the beginning

And in the end

There was Darkness

And nothing more

She did not feel the cold as she sank into a sea that had no bottom, no horizon, no surface. But she felt the burning.

Immortality was not a serene youth.

[…]

They would pay. All of them.

Starting with this Cauldron.

Starting now.

She tore into the darkness with talons and teeth. Rent and cleaves and shredded.

And the dark eternity around her shuddered. Bucked. Thrashed.

She laughed as it recoiled. Laughed around the mouthful of raw power she ripped out and swallowed whole; laughed at the fistfuls of eternity she shoved into her heart, her veins.

Wrapped in black eternity, Nesta and the Cauldron twined, burning through the darkness like a newborn star. (acosf)

While Feyre is not reborn in the Cauldron, we do get insight into her experience. When telling the Bone Carver about what appeared to her after death, she said this:

But if he knew … I turned again to the boy-creature. “There was a choice—in Death,” I said.

[…]

“I knew,” I went on, “that I could drift away into the dark. And I chose to fight—to hold on for a bit longer. Yet I knew if I wanted, I could have faded. And maybe it would be a new world, a realm of rest and peace. But I wasn’t ready for it—not to go there alone. I knew there was something else waiting beyond that dark. Something good.”

[…]

“I knew there was no coming back from what I’d done,” I said, wondering if the blue flame in the Carver’s eyes might burn my ruined soul to ash. “And once I broke their curse, once I knew I’d saved them, I just wanted enough time to turn that dagger on myself. I only decided I wanted to live when she killed me, and I knew I had not finished whatever…whatever it was I’d been born to do.” (acomaf)

Feyre was broken, but she wasn’t finished with whatever it was she had been born to do. Nesta also chose to fight in the Cauldron like a warrior. When we finally get insight into Elain’s rebirth, I am willing to bet that she fought with her own brand of strength.

It’s clear the dark womb of the Three-Faced Goddess is the same divine trio (Mother, Cauldron, Fate) the Fae in Prythian worship. When discussing the sisters in acosf, Amren emphasizes, nothing is a fluke, and the Cauldron—like the invisible current Manon described—can influence others without their awareness, especially those it has reforged. The sisters are blessed by fate with immortality and rare gifts for a reason. What plans does it have for them, and who would it enlist to help them on their path?

“May the Immortal Light shine upon thee, sisters,” said the pale-robed young woman directly in our path. (acolyte, acotar)

From the beginning of the series, various religious influences have played a role in the sisters’ journey. Children of the Blessed are the first religious influence we see, and they are largely reviled as religious fanatics by humans. The acolyte who blesses the sisters wears pale blue robes like Fae priestesses, and it is this blessing that serves as foreshadowing for their immortal fate. The acolytes’ imitation of Fae priestesses also makes me wonder if they are part of the priestesses’ extensive spy network.

Like witches, Fae priestesses worship the divine trio, and in their full garb, they represent the Voice of the Cauldron:

Ianthe had shown me once what the panel looked like when down: only her nose and full, sensuous mouth visible. The Voice of the Cauldron. I’d found the image unsettling—that merely covering the upper part of her face had somehow turned the bright, cunning female into an effigy, into something Other. (acomaf)

Their powers stem from their rituals and they can be deadly, if desired:

Among the High Fae, the priestesses oversaw their ceremonies and rituals, recorded their histories and legends, and advised their lords and ladies in matters great and trivial. I hadn’t witnessed any magic from her, but when I’d asked Lucien, he’d frowned and said their magic was drawn from their ceremonies, and could be utterly lethal should they choose it. (acomaf)

It was a High Priestess who informed Hybern about Feyre’s sisters, leading to their eventual capture and rebirth. Hybern also possessed the Cauldron at the time—did it influence him and Ianthe, weave their actions like threads in a tapestry?

Lucien’s face had slackened. “She sold out—she sold out Feyre’s family. To you.”

I had told Ianthe everything about my sisters. She had asked. Asked who they were, where they lived. And I had been so stupid, so broken … I had fed her every detail.

“Sold out?” The king snorted. “Or saved from the shackles of mortal death? Ianthe suggested they were both strong-willed women, like their sister. No doubt they’ll survive. And prove to our queens it can be done. If one has the strength.” (acomaf)

According to the Bone Carver, dark makers created the Book of Breathings and used the Cauldron to make terrible things. The Book of Breathings can control or nullify the Cauldron, and because like calls to like, only someone who is Made can speak the spells and wield its power.

As three Made sisters with potential witch heritage, were the Archerons chosen to wield the divine trio's power, a Three-Faced Goddess in the flesh? Each sister is associated with a different kind of light, so could they be light makers? And is that ultimately what it means to be Starborn? Blessed by fate, their purpose written in the stars or woven into the Goddess's loom...

The weaver went on, "I have to create, or it was all for nothing. I have to create, or I will crumple with despair and never leave my bed. I have to create because I have no other way of voicing this." Her hand rested on her heart, and my eyes burned. "It is hard," the weaver said, her stare never leaving mine, "and it hurts, but if I were to stop, if I were to let this loom or spindle go silent..." She broke my gaze at last to look at her tapestry. "Then there would be no Hope shining in the Void." (acofas)

...to be threads of Hope shining in the Void.

In acosf, priestesses continue to remain directly in the sisters’ path. They help Nesta in various ways, including scrying and locating the Harp during their dusk ritual. It belongs to the Dread Trove and it is the Trove that Nesta uses to save Rhys, Feyre, and Nyx. Was the divine trio pulling the threads here as well, and if so, to what end? To help another world defeat an old enemy? Combat an ancient death-god and sorcerer? Bring peace and healing through a different sort of world?

Now that Nesta has tracked down three Trove objects, and we know the Cauldron can be used alongside them by those who are Made, it seems inevitable that we will see it again.

“Shall I tend to my little garden forever?” When Nesta flinched, Elain said, “You can’t have it both ways. You cannot resent my decision to lead a small, quiet life while also refusing to let me do anything greater.”

“Then go off on adventures,” Nesta said. “Go drink and fuck strangers. But stay away from the Cauldron.” (acosf)

In the original trilogy, we learn that the Cauldron gave Elain such powers and found her so lovely.

The Cauldron seemed to realize what she’d done, too, as his head thumped onto the mossy ground. That Elain … Elain had defended this thief. Elain, who it had gifted with such powers, found her so lovely it had wanted to give her something…It would not harm Elain, even in its hunt to reclaim what had been taken. (acowar)

Her story might bring us even closer to the divine trio, witches, and priestesses with her gift of Sight. Among the Ironteeth, Bluebloods were especially known for their connection to divine Sight and even had their own priestesses:

“I see now,” Manon said softly, “why my Blueblood sisters still worship you.”

“Do they, now?” The spider remained motionless, but the three behind her crept closer, silent and observing with their many dark eyes. “We can hardly recall the last time the Blueblood priestesses brought their sacrifices to our foothills. We do miss them.” (Manon to the valg spider, hof)

Like a Blueblood, Elain is different from her sisters. She has a different sort of strength. Manon comments that the Blueblood Matron, who represents the maiden aspect of the Three-Faced Goddess, is more priestess than warrior. Her heir, Petrah, is similar to Elain: she is gentle and caring and is rumored to have her head in the clouds. Their clan is full of oracles, mystics, zealots, and they supposedly require more iron to remain tethered to their world.

Elain’s connection to the Cauldron—marked by a mental, iron crown—mirrors her unique strengths and gifts.

She had no mental shields, no barriers. The gates to her mind … Solid iron, covered in vines of flowers—or it would have been. The blossoms were all sealed, sleeping buds tucked into tangles of leaves and thorns.

[…]

If Elain’s mental gates were those of a sleeping garden, Nesta’s…They belonged to an ancient fortress, sharp and brutal. The sort I imagined they once impaled people upon. (acowar)

Rather than a brutal ancient fortress (the Prison?), Elain’s iron crown is covered in vines and sleeping buds. It is peaceful and lovely and full of budding life. So, what might this mean for her role? With her oracular and mystic sight, Elain might be able to move and influence like the divine trio, a rose among the thorns. She could use her gifts, or the Cauldron itself (the flower of life), to weave threads of Hope through protection, healing, and creation. Both Feyre and Nesta have used raw magic to heal and create, weaving their own threads of Hope. Elain may also participate or learn a ritual in the dawn service to help her channel her powers. It’s no coincidence that we’re told about a dawn ritual called groundings before her story. Not when she is described like this:

But even the silence weighed too heavily, and though the shadows kept him company, as they always had, as they always would, he found himself leaving the room. Entering the foyer. Soft steps padded from under the stair archway, and there she was.

The Faelights gilded Elain’s unbound hair, making her glow like the sun at dawn. She halted, her breath catching in her throat. (Azriel’s bonus chapter)

And there she was, a vision of hope and healing, glowing like a new dawn during the longest night of the year.

Parallels of Power: Comparing SJM's Rhysand's Authoritarianism and Manipulation to Trump's Controversial Leadership and Zionist Tactics.

Inspired by this post by @1800naveen

1. Authoritarian Control and Memory Manipulation : Rhysand uses his power to wipe the memories of the inhabitants of the Hewn City to keep the existence of Velaris a secret. This manipulation can be compared to efforts in historical and political contexts where controlling information and rewriting history are used to assert dominance and justify territorial claims, similar to accusations against Israel regarding the narrative of the Israel-Palestine conflict.

2. Xenophobia and Segregation : Rhysand exhibits xenophobic and segregationist tendencies by instructing vendors in Velaris not to sell goods or provide lodgings to people from the Court of Nightmares (CON). This mirrors Donald Trump's xenophobic policies and rhetoric, such as the Muslim travel ban and his harsh stance on immigration, which aimed to segregate and discriminate against immigrants and certain ethnic groups.

3. Racist and Discriminatory Policies : Rhysand’s directive to the people of Velaris to deny services to CON inhabitants is akin to racial segregation policies. Trump’s administration was often criticized for implementing policies and making statements that were seen as racist, such as his comments about Mexican immigrants and his reluctance to denounce white supremacist groups.

4. Manipulative and Deceptive Leadership : Both Rhysand and Trump use manipulation and deceit to maintain control. Rhysand’s wiping of memories and secretive control over Velaris reflect manipulative leadership. Trump’s frequent use of misinformation and manipulation of facts to serve his agenda parallels this, creating a culture of distrust and division.

5. Ego and Narcissism : Rhysand’s actions often reflect his ego and self-perceived superiority, similar to Trump’s narcissistic behavior. Both leaders prioritize their image and control over the well-being of those they govern.

6. Polarizing and Divisive : Rhysand’s rule creates a deep divide between the inhabitants of Velaris and the rest of the Night Court. Trump’s presidency was marked by significant polarization in the United States, with his policies and rhetoric deepening divisions along political, racial, and socio-economic lines.

7. Control of Narrative and History : Rhysand’s control over information and history in Velaris is similar to accusations against Zionist efforts to control the narrative and historical perspective in the genocide Israel is carrying out in Palestine.

This comparison highlights the negative impact of altering historical narratives to maintain power and justify actions.

8. Use of Fear and Coercion : Rhysand uses fear to maintain control over the Hewn City and the Night Court. Trump often employed fear-mongering, particularly around immigration and national security, to rally support and justify controversial policies.

9. Disregard for Ethical Standards : Rhysand’s morally ambiguous decisions and willingness to violate ethical norms for what he perceives as the greater good are mirrored in Trump’s numerous ethical scandals and disregard for established political and social norms.

10. Zionist Ideology Parallels : The way Rhysand enforces segregation and manipulates history can be seen as reflecting Zionist ideology, where there are claims of historical revisionism and exclusionary practices.

This analogy criticizes Rhysand for adopting tactics that create division and propagate control through questionable means.

These points emphasize the negative aspects of Rhysand's character and actions, drawing parallels to Donald Trump's controversial leadership and policies, as well as contentious elements of the Israel-Palestine conflict and Zionist ideology.

This post is not intended to maliciously attack or vilify the character of Rhysand from Sarah J. Maas's "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series.

Instead, it aims to critically analyze and highlight how Maas’s white supremacist and racist views, alongside Zionist propaganda, are reflected in her writing. By drawing parallels to the controversial policies and actions of the Trump administration, this critique seeks to uncover underlying themes of xenophobia, segregation, and manipulation within the narrative.

Love Senior ep. 2 bits and bobs

Disclaimer: not a native Thai speaker, still learning 🙏

Bad girl

แย่จริง ๆ น้องคนเนี่ย /yae jing jing nong khon niia/ = Awful for real, this junior! เด็กดื้อ /dek deuu/ = Stubborn/naughty girl!

How to explain? I needed to show the difference in the Thai, even though the subs say 'Bad girl' twice, because เด็กดื้อ /dek deuu/ has romance trope connotations.

And speaking of those- just before, as Naow pets Gyoza's head, Naow calls her ไอ้ต้าว /ai dtaao/ (I just can't make out the entire sentence rip), which is slang? cutesy? for ไอ้เจ้า /ai jao/, which is a prefix I guess that's affectionately used for pets for example. If you've seen My School President, ไอ้ต้าว /ai dtaao/ is what Win calls Sound in ep. 12 - I think it was subbed as pumpkin on YouTube? 'Cutie' might be a good roundabout way to translate it.

This one came out a tad bit unfortunate so I felt I needed to clarify for P'Pure's sake lmao

And a note re: pronouns and names

The scene in Gyoza's room where they eat together and then tease each other on the balcony is the only one in this episode where they both don't refer to Gyoza as พี่ /phi/ (refer to my post from last week for explanation)!

When Naow stays the night, she calls Gyoza พี่ /phi/ and Gyoza herself refers to herself as พี่ /phi/ as well - I only noticed her call herself เกี๊ยว /Giao/ when she says she's scared of the thunder. 🥺

Mao: *sigh*…

Mao: (I told the others I’d be right back, but I’m unsure whether the president is gonna be willing to lend us the money…)

Mao: (I’d even be willing to beg for it on my knees. If pleading is all I’d have to do to solve this, that’d be a small price to pay.)

Mao: (But this is the student council president we’re talking about. I really doubt he’s gonna say “sure, here you go”, just because I begged him.)

Mao: (Even if he’d agree to lend us the money, he might impose some kind of outrageous condition.)

Mao: (Hmm… Should I try to scrape the money together out of my own pocket?)

Mao: (No, no. It’s not like my savings amount to much of anything, anyway. I guess I really have no choice but to give asking the president a try.)

Ritsu: Maa-kun〜…♪

Mao: Whoa, Ritsu!? What are you doing, lying on the floor in the hallway like this?

Ritsu: I was sleeping. The hallway is nice and cool, so it’s the perfect place for a nap〜♪

Mao: You shouldn’t be sleeping in the hallway… If you want to sleep, you should go home and sleep there.

Mao: Oh, well. I’m in a hurry, so I don’t have time to carry you home. Take care on your way home, okay?

Ritsu: Aww. But it’s your duty to drop everything you’re doing to take care of me.

Mao: I don’t remember ever agreeing to taking on a duty like that.

Mao: Plus, I have work to do for the student council and I need to discuss something with the president.

Ritsu: Hm? What do you want from Ecchan?

Mao: Well, uhh, we want to participate in a concert as Trickstar, but we don’t have the funds for it.

Mao: I’m gonna go talk to the president to request an advance.

Ritsu: Ugh, you’re planning to be indebted to Ecchan? That’s gonna have some scary consequences, so I’d advise you to reconsider.

Ritsu: Do you want me to lend you money instead? If you beg for it really cutely, I might just be willing to consider giving it to you♪

Mao: Beg for it cutely…? Being indebted to you would be just as scary.

Mao: I’d be ashamed to ask my childhood friend to lend me money, anyway.

Mao: We’ll need costumes, stage dressing and more. Add it all up and we’ll need quite the sum of money. That’s not the kind of money a single student can just cough up like that.

Mao: Don’t worry about it. If I need to, I’ll just get on my knees and beg.

Ritsu: Did I say I was worried〜? Alright, I guess I’ll just have to come with you.

Mao: Huh? Why would you need to come with me?

Ritsu: Because I have nothing to do, anyway. And if Ecchan’s there, the air-conditioning in the student council room will be on, so I’ll get to cool off there〜

Mao: You’re incorrigible… Though, it’ll be reassuring to not have to do it alone, I guess. You can come with me, but make sure not to sabotage me.

Student council room

Mao: Excuse us〜

Eichi: Hello, Mao. You’re rather late.

Mao: I’m sorry. Trickstar’s evaluation meeting ran a little longer than expected… I apologize for the inconvenience.

Eichi: It’s no trouble. We’re mostly done with today’s work, anyway.

Eichi: An evaluation meeting. Does that mean you were discussing the Summer Live? Are you holding up alright after suffering such an utter defeat at the hands of Eve?

Mao: Well, being annihilated like that would make anyone feel disheartened. Even us.

Mao: But we don’t have time to sit around moping forever. We’ve found some areas for improvement and we’re gonna do our best to grow from the experience.

Eichi: Yes. That’s what makes Trickstar Trickstar. I have high hopes for you.

Eichi: Your evaluation aside, whatever could be the reason for Ritsu-kun joining you here?

Mao: Oh, I ran into him on my way here. When I told him I was going here to discuss something with you, he said he wanted to come with.

Eichi: Hmm? Me? Fufu, what business could you have with me?

Mao: Uhm, there’s this event that’s gonna be held this weekend at the beach called the Sunflower Live, and we want to participate as Trickstar.

Eichi: Ah, so you’re interested in the Sunflower Live?

Mao: Huh? You know about it?

Eichi: I do. Are you aware that they recently held an event called the “Pirate Festival” in that same location?

Mao: Hmm, wasn’t that a joint concert between RYUSEITAI and UNDEAD? The captain mentioned it.

Eichi: Yes. The event was very well received.

Eichi: We got an offer for both UNDEAD and RYUSEITAI to participate again during the Sunflower Live, but unfortunately neither of them are able to attend.

Eichi: We decided to request permission from the promoter to look for a replacement through the school’s social media.

Eichi: At this point, the Sunflower Live doesn’t have any big names willing to participate, so I’m sure they’ll be happy for Trickstar to join their lineup.

Mao: I see. So that’s what happened. Being able to participate would actually be a huge boon for us as well, but…

Mao: Uhm. President. As I mentioned earlier, I would like to discuss-- or rather, I would like to make a request. Please hear me out!

This Week in BL - a new #1 for me from Thailand

Nov 2022 Wk 4

Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying the most.

Ongoing Series - Thai

609 Bedtime Story (Fri WeTV) 1&2 of 11 - Apparently VIPs get the next episode early. So I watched both. It’s a good story and a great set up and it opens with one of my favorite under appreciated Thai actors: Plustor (as Vee) in a side bartender romance with younger Game. Sunshine bisexual himbo + older tsundere = YES! Gimme! Main character, Mum, is your bog-standard player. (I weirdly love how they translate clubs & bars as “pub” in Thailand - and yes, I get that it ties to the history of the area.) Kinda fun street fight. NO SINGING. Game is BL’s new bisexual king! I will brook no arguments on this matter. Omg kisses already? This is a well paced story! OhmFluke man, can’t knock the visuals, their eye connection and sympathetic chemistry work is good. I never believe they wanna bone but I do believe them falling in love. ALL HAIL QUEEN MINT.

Between Us (Sun iQIYI) 4 of 12 - This is such a fantastic show. I’m so glad they got OhmFluke back to play sides and support roles, it’s really making the found family aspect shine, especially in contrast to Win’s real family. This one is very complicated and deep and kind of modern. Very much the opposite of UWMA but in a good way. WATCH ALONG HERE.

My School President (Fri YT) 1 of 10 - it’s Love Sick + Korea and Japan's influence. Yes, we’ve seen it all before, but this is me: I never met a high school BL I didn’t want to grant a fair shake. At the very start we get self with a whistle and NO SINGING. Yay! Fantastic beginning. Our tiny music club president/idiot is definitely giving me Noh vibes & our suave student president definitely giving me Phun vibes - bonus this time no girlfriends! It moves this out of Love Sick arena, which was all chaos bisexuals, and into just completely gay. I’m happy with that and I like the dancing and the marriage on his mind. New candidates for one braincell friendship group from GMMTV (they love this archetype). Tinn is already pining and so completely gone. On a completely different aside, I really want a lesbian romance between Gun’s maa and the principle. I have a tiny ship sailing off to one side.

Ai Long Nhai (Mon iQIYI)10 of 12 - holy crumbs outta nowhere, Batman. Lots of relationship chat not enough shirtlessness, but since I’ve been binging Oh! My Sunshine Showering Night it’s no problemo. Also yes, Nahi does look and act a lot like Joanan, Ai totally ended up dating his mother.

Remember Me (Sun Gaga) 8 of 12 - Champ’s storyline is dull, although I like the actor. Yay, JaFirst got together!! Cute line, “can we skip being friends and just be in love instead?” LOVE THEM. Please can we take Mean out of that wig now? Why are the straight’s so boring? The Name stuff continues to upset me.

I Will Knock You (Fri Gaga) 3 of 12 - When these two are sweet together, they are really very sweet and I actually kind of like it. I think Noey uses ter because he’s younger, and doesn’t want to use phi.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

My Tooth Your Love (Taiwan Fri Viki) 9 of 12 - while 609 and Between Us are v good, this is currently my favorite BL airing by a mile. The conversation between the young one and the bar owner made me hoot with laughter. “Are you trying to speak the language of adults?” probably one of the BL’s best put-downs. All the dialogue really: “Are you gonna make him tie himself in a red bow and send himself to you?“ “That’s nice. Can I choose another color?” It’s so fucking cute. The courting with food, and everybody taking photographs of how happy the dentist is. I can’t even with this show. Add the cutest smiles kisses, this is GREAT. I did in fact clap.

Choco Milk Shake (Korea Strongberry Tues YT) 9 of 11 - Man, this show really makes me laugh so hard. Especially the cat character. I love how they called out the fact that they actually have customers for a change. Jealous Milk made me cackle so hard it scared the actual cat on my lap. How are they going to end this happy? In Strongberry we trust. Just repeat the mantra ABL, just keep repeating it.

Eternal Yesterday AKA Eien no Kino (Japan Thurs Gaga) 7 of 8 - It takes me a lot to work up the courage to watch this show on Fridays. It’s so sad and traumatizing. But it’s also so good I can’t stop. I have to watch Tooth on either side of it to comfort myself. All that to say, it’s as we all expect: Michan is holding so hard onto Koichi that he has anchored him from death through shear force of will. Also… SWITCHES? Although, does it count if it’s necrophilia? Asking for a friend.

Oh! My Assistant (Korea Thurs Viki) 1-2 of 8 - This has a very JBL feel (including the title), don’t get mad if I get confused. Anygay, this is a very silly show that acts like it comes from a very silly yaoi. Out gay younger seme (we stan) pretending to be tsundere is smitten by chaos bi uke puppy. And they gave us a very interesting new take on crash into me. It’s racy but in that way Korean does racy, like Love & Leashes. Cheeky racy.

Happy Ending Romance (Korea Thurs Gaga) 3-4 of 8 - This is such a complicated show about profession, ego, reputation, safety, and trust, but not much about romance. Maybe it’s because I’m so used to Leo portraying evil (see most of his guest MV’s and half of VIXX’s) but I can’t trust his character, and I’m not sure if I’m meant to. Is that the romance? Or is this a romance about an editor’s love for a writer’s work? Or for the writer himself? And is there a difference? Meanwhile, I’m getting a bad feeling about the ending of this one. And yet... How much did I love the dialogue around love and possession? So much.

It’s Airing But I’m Not Watching It

War of Y (Thai Gaga) 20 eps - it’s just all too much for me.

2 Moons 3 (Thai Mon ??) 10 eps - Possibly a future binge watch. Rumor is it’s banal.

Love Bill (Vietnam Sat YT) - Bah Vinh is back but I’m too distracted. Also there’s a lot of fund raising stuff going on. I’ll wait and binge.

The Star Always Follow You (Vietnam YT) - same Team RL peeps we have seen before (Sunshine, Stupid)

Till the World Ends (Thai YT) 10 eps - ?

Why You... Y Me? (Thai Weds YT) 10 eps - It's not primarily a BL, but another meta show about BL shipping, with side BLs. @heretherebedork is watching it, ask them about it.
