chapter 34 - wingcat

“Lung… please save me..” You pathetically mumble to your kitten who refuses to spare you a glance, too preoccupied on his toy mouse.

You continue to lay on the floor, limbs sprawled in every direction as you let out a defeated groan. It was no use… your doom was soon to come.

Your slimy, smooth brain craved Wonwoo’s attention so bad that in a blur you somehow managed to tangle Wonwoo into going on a late night walk with you.

And with your son, Lung, of course.

But as time neared towards Wonwoo’s arrival, your anxiety only grew more and more. Lung seemed to sense your array of emotions, plopping his toy mouse beside your head and eagerly biting at your hair.

“Ow—!” You painfully yelp, hand shooting out to protect your precious hair. “—You little rat! Let go of me!” You scold your naughty son, who releases your hair and instead nips at your hand, eliciting another whine from you.

Just as you’re about to scold him again for his lack of emotional support, your doorbell chimes. You eagerly lift yourself up off the floor, hands clumsily fixing your clothes and hair as your feet move you closer to the door as if on command.

Wonwoo jumps at your sudden appearance as you open the door almost instantly, the gesture catching him off guard.

‘Fuck.. now he probably thinks I’m a freak and that I waited by the door..’ You mentally lectured yourself.

Wonwoo quickly composes himself and flashes you a toothy grin, his eyes glimmering behind his nerdy lenses as they set on your face.

“Hey, sorry if I kept you waiting. I really... uh, had to poop.” He awkwardly confesses, eyes avoiding your gaze.

Now you were the one caught off guard, a snort unexpectedly escaping your nose as you cover your face with your hands to stifle a laugh. “Oh god.. its okay! You don’t have to apologize for that..” You reassure him.

Wonwoo continues to smile endearingly, watching attentively as you laugh at his confession. Finally gathering yourself, you leave Wonwoo by the door to get your kitten settled into his stroller.

Wonwoo curiously watches as you coo at your kitten, who only cries in return. You push Lung in the stroller back towards the door, grabbing any and all basic necessities.

“Alright!” You smile brightly as Wonwoo holds the door open for you and Lung to pass through, “Let’s get going before it gets colder.” You successfully push Lung out into the apartment hallway, locking your door once Wonwoo had stepped out.

You and Wonwoo make your way towards the elevator, Wonwoo showing off his charms once more by going out of his way to push the call button. Calming silence envelopes the elevator as soon as you step in.

“I’m gonna be honest—” Wonwoo suddenly chimes, “This is probably my first time going on a walk with a cat.” He lifts his arm to shyly rub behind his neck, a small chuckle leaving his lips.

“Oh?” You turn to look at him with a smile still plastered on your face, “Well I’m glad I get to experience being your first!” You blindly blurt out without a second thought. Wonwoo sheepishly grins at your unintentional double meaning, your brain shortly registering what you had said.

“Wait— I didn’t mean for it to sound like that— fuck, I’m so stupid..” You furrow your brows and sigh in frustration, leaning down to hide your face in the handles of Lung’s stroller. Wonwoo shakes his head and lets out a chuckle, finding your frustration amusing.

A sudden mewl erupts from inside the stroller, Lung’s paws pushing up into the mesh fabric above him. You lift your head up, all embarrassment drifting away as you playfully tap on the mesh to get his attention. “Hi little baby—” you coo gently, “You excited to go outside?”

Lung only continues to whine, this time seated, determining his efforts in grabbing your attention successful. The elevator comes to a halt, its all too familiar chime ringing in your ears as it alerts you of your arrival to your selected floor. The doors pull back with ease and you begin pushing the stroller out into the empty lobby, Wonwoo following close behind. Wonwoo picks up his pace as you near the door, pushing it out open with his all too persistent smile plastered on his face as you step out.

“You’ve been such a gentleman today.” You smile, eyes meeting back with Wonwoo, who takes place beside you. “Just feels right.” He beams.

You both commence walking, the cool air hitting your warm skin as the falling sun casts a comforting glow around your surroundings. You glance down at Lung who shows much appreciation to being out, his head whipping in every and all directions excitingly. You come to a stop in front of an ice cream shop, its bright lights and inviting atmosphere enticing you to enter. Wonwoo stops himself from bumping into you, his confused gaze trailing from your face to the ice cream shop, his brain connecting the dots immediately. “Did you wanna get some ice cream? I’ll pay.” He cocks his head towards the shop, a smile forming on his lips when he notices how your eyes widen slightly at the suggestion.

“Only if it’s okay with you..!” You shyly mumble, unknowingly already pushing Lung’s stroller towards the open entrance of the ice cream shop. Wonwoo shakes his head with a smile, following behind you as you make your way to the counter of the shop. You suddenly freeze as you realize who’s working the counter. Wonwoo, noticing your shift, glances up to the counter as well. “No way..”

“Oh? Wonwoo?” Joshua perks up, a teasing smile growing on his lips as he glances between you and the taller male. “Fancy seeing you guys here! Y’all on a little date or something?” He chuckles as he cleans his hands with a rag, readying himself to take your orders.

Wonwoo’s face grows warm as he awkwardly nods, “Yeah.. we are.” Unable to hide the surprise on your face, you turn to Wonwoo so quickly you almost give yourself whiplash. Joshua, somehow also surprised with the answer, hums in acceptance. “Oh! That’s great. So… um.. what can I get you guys?” He says with practiced expertise. Wonwoo glances at you, allowing you to place your order first.

You let out a relieved breath, moving yourself a bit closer towards the counter. “I’ll just have the strawberry shaved ice please..” Joshua nods as he inputs the order into the tablet, glancing up at Wonwoo right after. Wonwoo’s eyes skimmed the selection of frozen treats, hand holding his chin in thought, “Hmm.. I’ll get the oreo shaved ice.” Joshua hummed lightly, inputing the order and ringing up the total, bright numbers flashing on the customer side of the tablet.

The teasing grin etches itself back into Joshua’s lips as Wonwoo takes out his card to pay. “Wow, so generous… next time take me out on a date.” Wonwoo shakes his head with a grin, rolling his eyes playfully at the older male. “In your dreams.”

Joshua continues smiling as he moves back into the kitchen area of the store after the payment goes through, allowing you, Wonwoo, and Lung to find a table to sit at.

Once seated you carefully unzip the front piece of the pet stroller, Lung immediately bumping his head into your hand for attention. Wonwoo takes the opportunity to also give Lung chin scratches, the kitten purring happily at the affection from both humans. Wonwoo’s eyes trail from the cheery kitten to your face, seemingly reflecting Lung’s joy. His eyes stay fixated on your features, eyes slowly trailing down to the plush skin of your lips. You suddenly catch sight of how Wonwoo’s hand stops his petting, instead hovering slightly above your kitten’s body. In curiosity, your own eyes trail up to meet his gaze, eyes widening up in surprise to see him already staring directly at you with tenderness.

“I’m just so happy to have met you—” He mutters slightly under his breath, breaking the comfortable silence the store provided. “—Even after embarrassing myself the other day.. you still gave me a chance and now.. I couldn’t be more enamored with your presence.”

Time felt frozen, your eyes scanning all over the male’s face, trying to wrap your mind around the words that left his lips. Wonwoo lifted his hand away from Lung’s body and rested it atop of your free hand, thumb lightly brushing your warm skin. Your eyes darted from his lips back to his eyes, the gesture not going unnoticed by the male in front of you. His tongue subtly ran across his bottom lip to ease the sudden dryness he was experiencing. In a hushed tone, he leaned in closer to your body, “May I kiss you?”

Your lips parted faintly as you nodded in approval, Wonwoo seeming to not want to waste another second as he leaned in, his soft lips brushing against yours. Your own lips chased his, closing whatever gap there was between both bodies. His hand moved away from your hand to gently cup the side of your face, holding the warmth of your cheek in his cool palm. Your heart hammered loudly in your chest as your lips pushed closer to the latter, feeling as if he would disappear if you let go. Wonwoo slowly pulled away from the embrace, leaving a light peck on the corner of your mouth. A short whine left your lips in protest, hands quickly finding their place over your mouth at the embarrassing noises it emitted. Wonwoo grinned in response, using the hand that was holding your face to sweep some of your hair away from your face.

Joshua swiftly made his way out of the kitchen right after your little romance, hands skillfully holding both orders in a tray. Noticing your suspicions glances and body language, Joshua quirks an eyebrow at the two of you.

“Y’all weren't making out while I was making your food, right? ‘Cus if you’re lying.. I’m gonna check the cameras.” Joshua warned, placing the tray carefully on the table in front of you. Wonwoo nervously gulped, eyes darting towards you and back to Joshua's questioning look.

“No! No funny business at all! We promise.. right Lung?” You suddenly burst, trying to ease the attention back towards your kitten, who purrs happily at the drift. Joshua doesn't seem all too convinced, but decides to drop the topic. “Well then.. enjoy your dessert guys!” Joshua runs his hands over his apron and steps back into his place behind the counter, grabbing his rag to clean up his space.

You and Wonwoo glance at each other, small giggles emitting from the both of you like teenagers being caught by your parents.

As you both eat your cold treats, you couldn't help but think of the earlier evens, hoping that Joshua didn't get curious and check the security cameras like he threatened.

When the kids were younger he'd dress them up in not just tiger themed clothes but alot of shinee merch

Your kids lullaby was random songs hoshi made with the help of woozi

The children's best friend doesn't quite understand why certain rules like bedtime and eating all your veggies should be followed

Kinda also strict if the situation demands it.

He behaves like a child around the kids

The children are more scared of disappointing him cause he never shames them for any mistake or problems

Would drive the children to high school and yell loudly dad loves you and embarrass your children

One of your children actually became a zoologist thanks to hoshis love for tigers

the type of dad to get lost in their child's school

Again he's also a crier he's cried at every major event in your children's lives.

The type of dad who loves a chaotic household aka would never scold his kids for being too loud

When his kids are all grown up I see them nagging him just like how woozi does sometimes

The type of dad you can't take anywhere , he brings up embarrassing stories about your children to anyone who would listen. He genuinely doesn't understand what's embarrassing about his stories though.
