Prenuptial Agreement

No one should get married without a Prenuptial Agreement in place! It doesn't matter how much or how little you have, you always have to protect yourself! You are making the biggest decision of your life to marry someone.

And second and sometimes third marriages—and the extended families that sometimes come with them—require financial and estate planning. Forty percent of new marriages include at least one spouse who was previously married. A Prenuptial agreement is especially a necessity when getting married after the first time.

There are two key issues every Prenup should address:

The first is how the assets will be divided in the event of a divorce or a death. The time to address this is before you get married. Divorce rates for second marriages, third marriages, etc. are even higher than those for first marriages. While you hope this marriage will work, you just never know. You should have at least three to six months before the wedding to work out the details and have the Prenup finalized.

The second is deciding how your personal accounts and other assets, such as real estate will be kept separate after marriage. It's crucial that you keep them separate.

Typically a Prenup will spell out what each partner is bringing to the marriage—including income, real estate, retirement savings—and whether each asset will be treated as separate or joint. Most important is that a prenup can shield one partner from any liabilities accumulated prior to the marriage, including student loans, credit card debt, and alimony and/or child support. It is very important that how to treat debt should be decided prior to the marriage and in the Prenup. In the event of a divorce, sometimes courts try to divide debt equally between the two parties. You have to be sure to protect yourself.

Any gifts given during the marriage should not be considered marital assets but should belong to the person receiving the gift.

More than one-third of adults said Prenups make smart financial sense, according to a Harris survey. “The time to plan for a divorce is not when you’re in a state of hate,” says Suzie Orman. You can’t fully protect yourself against a marital heartbreak, but at least you can protect your assets.

Be sure to have a divorce attorney write the Prenup. Just any attorney cannot know the specifics that have to go in one. It has to be done right so there are no loopholes. Unfortunately, in today's world, Prenups are being challenged in court.

I think Shanks is generally comfortable to be the found one. Between the two of them and despite them both being generally nomadic and Mihawk literally having an island, Shanks is the home base he’s the constant that Mihawk seems out.

I think shanks is generally fine with letting Mihawk set the pace of their relationship. Unless they just happen to fall together on the same island (which happens a lot) Mihawk finds him when he wants/needs him and Shanks waits. Mihawk never gives him his vivre card (probably doesn’t even have one) for one and also Mihawk is just a capricious dude. His moods and whims are fickle and ever changing and he also just likes to be alone a lot of the time it’s better and leads to less volatile reactions if Mihawks’ the one doing the reaching if he has control over when his loneliness is abated. And this generally like most things especially involving Mihawk works fine for Shanks for the most part. Mihawk’s never gone too long and when he is the seas have a way of pushing them together before Shanks really starts to miss him.

And while Shanks doesn’t have Mihawks almost otherworldly innate sense of location he could definitely find him if he needed too. Follow this red string that binds them all the way back to him. (And obviously Shanks knows where kuriagina is) but aside from the occasional weekend on the island he generally doesn’t need too. Except…

I think the only day where Shanks actively seeks out Mihawk and finds him no matter whatever for it if the world he is in is the anniversary of Roger’s execution. The day where he feels most like that powerless fifteen year old boy and there’s nobody else from his past that he wants to see or wants to see him. When there isn’t enough booze in the world that will dull the sting of being left behind by everyone. When he thinks he might be consumed by his anger at it all. He crosses oceans to find Mihawk and his strange stilted, unpracticed style of comfort.

summer was warm, hot, his skin tacky with sweat and craving distance, revelling in the coldness that aziraphale had left behind. it soothed something inside of him, cooled down his shaking breaths, and took the sting out of his tears. it was easier to forget about him then.

the season passed like it always does, though, and in the first weeks of fall, crowley begins to realise just how hollow his soul is. there is no warmth inside of him anymore, nothing to sustain him through the constant frigid rain and the mantle of death covering the world.

birds fly south, leaving for better lands (just like aziraphale had), trees rid themselves of their unsustainable burdens (just like aziraphale had), and immeasurable amounts of creatures bid the sun goodbye to hibernate, waiting until the world welcomes them again.

he briefly considers doing the same, considers turning his bed into a temporary grave and sleeping through winter, through spring, summer, autumn, and winter again if he must, until aziraphale comes back or the world ends and takes him with it.

he considers, and then he tries, but in the grey twilight of november, his lips burn with memories, his body craves softness and someone's heat to bask in, and it refuses to grant him an illusion of peace.

winter comes, unstoppable, uncaring, rolling out over the northern hemisphere, and crowley wants to claw his skin off.

a year ago, he had spent his days curled up under a blanket in the bookshop, dozing the weeks away, too comfortable to flee in the face of intimacy, and aziraphale had been next to him day after day after day. in the midst of his dreams, gentle touches had reached him now and again, a palm resting on his shoulder, a thigh pressed against his.

a year ago, there had been trashy movies and aziraphale teaching him how to make his signature hot chocolate, and crowley had been happy.

not just content but happy.

his fingertips are blue, his lips numb, yet he refuses to move from where he is leaning against the window, watching the snow fall. under the spell of the cold, his body slows and petrifies, ever yearning, longing for a cup of tea and the person who made it.

winter wraps itself around him like a cloak, and he wishes he could blame the season, but winter is time, and it either freezes or passes; there is no turning back. no, the aching, pale fingers ripping his soul apart like a piece of paper, tearing through it again and again as it becomes small and scattered, are his own.

crowley is heaps of brittle, yellowed leaves, is a fading birdsong left behind as its creators chase the sun, is a lonely being in the snow while everyone else breathes air warmed by others, safe from the hardening frost.

the end of the world could come, and instead of raising sword and shield to stop it, crowley would shatter beneath its force like hot glass dropped in the snow—and if it meant escaping the hold of aziraphale's absence, he would gladly let it happen.
