#Power Meower

It's been three months since anyone else logged into the FC I inherited. As such, Power Meower is now a thing on Kraken, Dynamis. Ranks are (low to high) Kitten, Soft Paw, Mouser, Tiger, Malkyn, and Coeurl. I am now leveling Zor so she can make better stuff and furnish Cat's Landing (Goblet W5, P20) in style.

which of course i just had to separate them all from the original debug building, even if it meant staying up till 3am 🫠

some updates on the animated Power Rangers thing - ALLEGEDLY this might be why we haven't gotten any animated Power Rangers.

Take with a grain of salt as this is all hearsay, but this does kinda make sense to me? As pointed out by others, with how much Saban was branching out into all forms of media after buying back the brand after 2010 (the comics, RPGs, the live-action movie, books, the video games) it's hard to believe they wouldn't have wanted to try animation too. At the very least web shorts, if they didn't want to risk the costs of a full series (remember, we had Meower Rangers, of all things.)

This probably isn’t on Spotify, but I wanted to mention it anyway because it fit the vibe of this AU:

Aside from the lyrics being very fitting (just switch ‘video’ and ‘radio’) I am absolutely in LOVE with how Eleanor Forte eerily sings the song. It gives me the impression that Eleanor Forte murdered Hatsune Miku to steal her title of #1 Vocaloid.

At 2:03 - 2:12 when Eleanor Forte says “Hatsune Miku? Never heard of her. What is she, some kind of virus?” only adds to that theory. Especially love how the audio gets distorted and staticky from 3:17 - 3:37

The art that accompanies it is phenomenal! How Eleanor Forte stares dead-eyed at the camera is chilling. I especially like the fallen and beheaded Miku figurines in front of the TV (the fact that it’s a 50s style TV is the cherry on top). The entire video just gives me a sense of unease and mystery, like there’s a bigger, more horrific story lying underneath, just like this AU!!!

I can totally picture Alastor saying something like “Vox? Never heard of him. What is he, some kind of virus?”

Gave it a watch, it’s neat. Yes, I imagine Alastor gets immense satisfaction out of all the recent arrivals in Hell having no clue who Vox is and even some of the older sinners starting to forget about him. Condemning Vox to his former greatest fear, irrelevancy, is delicious for Al. For a while, Vox being so out-of-it that he doesn’t even register that he was once one of the most powerful overlords in Hell is delightful for Alastor, but as time goes on, he realizes that Vox being unable to understand the slight just renders it plain-old boring.

Abby looked me in the eyes while putting her claws in the fabric of the mat that holds her food and water and I got the honor of watching her dump her water everywhere as she flipped it. This was after her acting up all night not letting me sleep so I just start crying. Luckily my husband is home today so he cleaned it up and has been loving on her while I sleep. Abby senses change and is acting out because of that, we're not going to punish her for that. She's been so vocal today too like more than the past two days. Her meows are powerful when she's always been a soft meower. I'm definitely going into labor sometime soon. I have an appointment Monday so we will see what my doctor thinks about my contractions I've been having.

We would so be dead out there arguing if we saw the power meower because we totally know what camouflage is and we would never fall for such a ploy we would be in its stomach getting digested still thinking we're smarter than it

Not to critique evolution, but I would think orange and black stripes wouldn’t be as good for camouflage in a forest as, say, green and black would.

Dragon Quest Monsters 6 (DS)

This sprite...isn't...bad? But the kitty power...where is it? At least the eyes have that gleam of kitten mischief.

I feel the kitten energy, but I'm not sure it's enough...we need MORE meower power! More cat-astrophic cuteness!

4/10 forehead bumps! Not the worst ever, the potential is certainly there!

OOOH, NOW WE'RE GETTING SOMEWHERE! I feel a kind of Lion King kitty energy from this Kittymore and I am HERE for it! The muzzle is much bigger than usual, giving him a lion or panther look to his face! Magnificent! Truly magnificent!

100/10 cautious big cat pats on the head! No biting my hands off please!

It's hard to tell at a glance, but this model is the EXACT SAME MODEL from the Battle Road games! Or at least modeled very closely after it!

1000000000/10 scrunched up kitty noses! I cannot stress just how wonderful it is to have this marvelous model in yet another Dragon Quest game!

I suppose I should revisit my Kittymore post here! It's about time, with all the new Mortamors we've seen lately, plus Twitter is self-destructing and Tumblr is just easier to make these kinds of posts with.

Alright, super long post coming up!

Mortamor has long been a favorite of mine, and that comes mostly from his menacing aura -- ah, who am I kidding, he looks like a kitty!

Here I'm gonna rate all the Mortamors solely on their kitty-tasticness!

Artwork (Original)

Official Art Kittymore! The start of a legend! He has his whiskers and those feline eyes too, an absolutely phenomenal artwork! Unfortunately, Akira Toriyama didn't draw him from any other angles, leading to many disagreements on how he should LOOK when seen from any other direction. You'll see what I mean later on.

5/10 kitten pets! Respectable, but it's hard to rate his kitten power with just a head-on look! I need angles! I need to see his kitty muzzle!

Dragon Quest 6 (SNES)

The first in-game look at Kittymore! The sprite is phenomenally cute and very scritchable, unfortunately it suffers from the same problem as the artwork, albeit not as much because the animations of the sprite show some muzzle cuteness...though not as much as I would like.

6/10 nose boops!

I can't...really see what's going on with that sprite, but the little tiny sprite above his status is really cute and silly-looking!

3/10 face scritches! I like the tiny sprite or it would be lower sfhkkjs

Dragon Quest Monsters 1+2

Yet another stagnant sprite, the detail here SHOULD give him a little more of the kitten-tasticness that he deserves...unfortunately, more detail isn't always better. The original SNES sprite looked far more likely to claw up my bedpost, while I see very little of that desire in this sprite.

3/10 kitten treats for my kitten overlord!

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker

A full model means we get to see our beloved meowing monster king from the sides! And how does he look?

REALLY SCARY. He looks less like my evil demon kitty-kitty demanding pets and more like some kind of eldritch horror! This was my first introduction to Mortamor, actually, and when I first saw him...I didn't know WHAT he was, just that I needed him sffsshkls unfortunately, nostalgia doesn't negate the truth.

0/10 chin scratches. There is no kitty in that soulless stare.

Dragon Quest 9

This model has honestly grown on me over the years. And, due to being another model, we can see how he looks from the side too!

Not bad! Very pettable, I already feel sharp pains in my leg from all the kneading I can tell he's thinking of doing! For the limitations of the DS, this is very nice!

6\10 kitty bleps! Could be kittier, but not bad at all!

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2

Um.

WHERE IS HIS KITTY MUZZLE? HIS KITTY WHISKERS ARE WAY TOO DROOPY AND HIS EYES FOR THE FIRST TIME DON'T EVEN LOOK KITTY-LIKE!!

Slightly better, but he should look fully kitten the WHOLE time, not just during a few animations!

2/10 paw-pad rubbies! Absolutely disappointing!
