This is I guess my regular style, here are a bunch of OC references (all OCs which I'd like to write descriptions for on this blog at some point lol). Comms in this style would probably be like $30-40 uncolored, $35-$45 colored. Depends on complexity.

For those who don't recognize me, my name used to be Ace, but it's now Cole or Piper, whichever you like (I used to run an account here called Ace-my-boy, more on that later). I'm 20 and actually used to be great friends with/date Nico! (Blame them for the date part I didn't ask for that shit) So I've known them about a year before the incident.

Now, for what they did.

I really don't feel like explaining it all again because I've had to so many times, so I'll just boil it down to a brief list:

-Lovebombing. So much of it.

-Manipulation of the mind (and heart)

-Threatening to off themselves, constantly

-Talked about their "Shitty" ex as soon as we started dating (the ex didn't even do anything wrong, they just broke up after discovering that they were aro, which Nico accused them behind their backs of it being a lie just to excuse breaking up with them), and even before that, they would always lament to me about their breakup and insist it was my responsibility to listen

-Lied to me, and about me, a lot, about the most mundane

-Talked shit about the "friends" they tried to turn against me (again, more on that later)

-SENT ME "KYS" ASKS ON BOTH MY OLD ACCOUNT (ace-my-boy) AND THIS ONE. I had to delete ace-my-boy because as they turned people against me, that was the blog they flocked to just to tell me they hate me. Lol.

-[TW:CSA!!!] Sent me anon asks telling me, an actual victim of child rape, that I deserved it. FYI, that event started when I was 10 and didn't even end there, so...happy with yourself, Nico?

-Sent me asks harassing me and apparently claiming I wanted them back? Which isn't true, considering they...

-BEFRIENDED A KNOWN PEDOPHILE (among our former friend group, before the revelation of what she was of course), WHO HAS BEEN KNOWN TO INTENTIONALLY SEND NSFW PICS TO HEAVILY MINOR POPULATED SERVERS!!!! Her name is Mage btw idc abt her privacy 💀 (she's another can of worms)

-Literallu got Mage to harass me AND MY FRIENDS FOR SUPPORTING ME???

-Started accusing me and a good friend (I'll call her Newt, for her safety) of being proshippers/groomers after a third, neutral friend brought up those accusations to Mage personally, even though they know that me and Newt are survivors of that type of shit, so why tf would we do it????

-Tried to tell everybody that I doxxed them and threatened to kill them (I...don't even know where they live...and I can't even do basic code no less dox someone. How do you even do that????)

-Had worked with Mage to turn most of my friends against me (I got some of them back recently which is honestly a win, but still)

-Would demand my time late at night to complain to me, even though I told them multiple times that staying up late and losing sleep causes me to have HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE SEIZURES. They didn't even want advice, they kept me up just to bitch to me about other people.

-Manipulated multiple minors into being their personal comfort assistants, and one minor EVEN KNEW THEY WE'RE BEING MANIPULATED AND STILL DEFENDED THEM?

-Would deny any advice I tried to give them, despite always asking for it?

There's so much more. So so much more. I don't even remember every single thing because But instead, let's go into how it affected me overall.

-My depression increased drastically, of course

-My temper increased drastically (Bipolar Disorder, folks!)

-[TW:ED AND VOMITING] I went back to my bulimic tendencies, that I had kicked for 5 years

-I was convinced nobody wanted me alive (and yes, Nico is to blame for that too), thus plunging me into sh tendencies

-Even before the bulimia relapse, I was throwing up just thinking about what they said to and about me JUST FOR WANTING AN APOLOGY.

-I literally could not have fun or get anything done. Ever since that shit hit the fan, I would not be able to do anything without moping.

-I consider myself a strongwilled person irl, but when I tell you I cried everyday bc of their bullshit (I actually like, fr loved Nico before and even briefly after the fiasco started, so think about that please)

There's more, but they're issues I'm not sure if Nico/Mage directly caused, so I won't lay it on their doorstep.

Oh, but here's the best part. You wanna know what caused this altercation?

...I expressed boundaries to Nico that they kept breaking, and I told them it was making me angry

So when I want an apology from Nico for responding passive aggressively, I'm instead met with Nico not once, but twice harassing me and soft blocking me on ace-my-boy, insisting I don't deserve a apology and that itwas why people don't like me...like literally what in the elementary school type drama is that shit wtf (esp since their

Man there is so much more. I could write and publish a fucking novel on this situation alone, no less what they've done to others. But I think enough is said to get a glimpse of how reprehensible a person Nico is. I would suggest everyone not interact with them at all, no matter how sorry everyone feels for them, for everyone's safety! Nico does not want help. They will not accept help. They want comfort through making everyone feel worse than they do. And for a so-called friend? Not worth it.

Again, I'll admit I'm exponentially more mature then I was then, but it doesn't take a genius to know that you dont try to make someone as mentally unwell as they made me just because someone "sounds too mean" when they tell you that you did something wrong.

I'd love to say more, but I could write a novel on what I have on Nico. But the point of this post is to inform and warn, not to vent. Please ask me questions if you have any and sorry for my unhinged nature throughout this post. Thank you!!!

Piacere, space, whatever you go by, you said you wouldn't mention anyone from this, or at least that was what the deal was, I hope you were told about it. We'd not mention you, as long as you wouldn't mention us. But you did, so a new callout post with new points, people defending you don't really do a good job. TLDR: they blame everything on mental health, takes little fault for hurting people because of said mental issues, vents to people decently younger than them constantly, and they demand boundaries, but get extremely upset when anyone asks for them to do so for them.

NOTE I didn't directly see any of this, I'm doing this to defend my friends because, no offense, they are kinda letting themselves get walked all over. If anything is wrong please tell me. Do not harass anyone in this situation, no one deserves it.

First up a recap on the first situation with a new moral because talking to your friend made it more obvious what the issue was, you blaming mental health. My friends silver and JJ banned someone from wheezle's easel for in their mind being toxic, the other mods including piacere and their friends didn't feel the person was that bad, but instead of voicing that they went on a rant at how they were never listened to. Even when given an opportunity to unban the person piacere went on about not being listened to while actively ignoring their attempts at giving them an input. They caused my friends to have anxiety attacks and cry, yes they apologized, but only after saying my friends were horrible people. I don't know how you go from that to sorry in a few days and mean that apology. Proof under this, and another situation and perspectives of other people on them.

Now for the new situation i heard of, they were in my friend's server, velon's, and they'd do their constant venting. They were asked to not mention suicide so often and got really upset. More stuff must have happened because like, everyone there says how they would make them super stressed out with how often they'd beg for attention and do things like make sex jokes with people who were uncomfortable with it. Here's people's opinions on it and also i'd check out Typhoonclade's post on them here for more opinions.

Generally they'd vent everywhere around like 16-18 year olds as an almost 20 year old. they'd constantly cry about not getting attention while they got a lot of attention from at least half the active members in our server. And also a lot of weird sexual stuff that granted is hearsay to me but tbhI don't care anymore, there's no way two unrelated people have similar stories. Here's some other stuff of them being mean about people and attention seek-y I have.

Piacere, you won't read this tbh, but just get off the internet, its clear you can't handle it, and you hurt people, for everyone's good, please just get offline. I know real life sucks for you, you'd say it a lot man, but its not an excuse to hurt people who aren't doing anything to you. Just, idk what you should do, other than leave the wider internet.

Ben's Big BL Blurb 3: Blue Canvas of Youthful Days Blew It, But I Still Recommend It

I finished Blue Canvas of Youthful Days today, and I don’t like where we left off with this show. Let’s get into that, and then check in on some of the other shows I’m watching.

Blue Canvas of Youthful Days Didn’t Give the Audience Catharsis

I don’t begrudge the show going for a happy ending, given how so many other BLs from their home country end with sudden traumatic turns. However, I don’t feel like we got catharsis from the ending at all. I struggle to full articulate my frustration here, but I think I just really wanted an ending akin to Weekend (2011) or Gameboys 2 (2022).

I think these two were in a position where they were unable to be together now, and I think they should have ended on a separation. When Cairo and Gav had to separate at the end of Gameboys, it was the correct choice. They were still building their lives, and Gav wasn’t doing well on his on. Similarly, Blue Canvas established a scenario whereby Qi Lu did not have the power to stop his father from harming Qin Xiao. Likewise, Qin Xiao couldn’t keep the local gang from beating Qi Lu.

I would have preferred they have the boys confront that they were hiding things from each other, and how they both failed to protect each other from the horrors. I am disappointed that we didn’t get a poignant goodbye from them as they accept that they can’t be together right now. I wouldn’t have minded so much a blurb at the end of the show with the pitch for a season 2 that they didn’t get to film (though @thisonelikesaliens commentary makes even what they wrote dour). We didn’t confront the issue with the dad at all, and we didn’t deal with Qin Xiao losing all he’d worked for.

Genuinely, I would have been okay with them getting a tag at the end of the show with them seeing each other on the street again and sharing a meaningful look. However, we never saw them face the music of their double noble idiocy, and that sucks. It especially sucks because we had Let Free The Curse of Taekwondo this year, and so we saw the consequences of this. We could have had these two railing against the world and promising to see each other again. The tag at the end of the reuse of the fantasy sequence feels tacked on and unearned. That kinda sucks more.

Final Verdict: 8, Recommended With Reservations. I really liked most of this show, and I think they wrote some phenomenal characters until the finale here. Like @lurkingshan I ended up not pleased with this ending. I am disappointed in the lack of resolution about the withholding, and I think they needed to face the separation and goodbye. However, I really liked the cast, and I respect the team that worked so hard to get this to us.

On to the rest of the show, presented in no particular order…starting with the worst. I’ll put in parentheses what episode number I’m on as of this post.

Haunted Hearts is Boring (5/7)

Magic, mah friend! Your show is boring. I do not know why these boys won’t kiss, and at this point I feel like I don’t care anymore. They’re introducing yet another ghost next week and I just am so disinvested. I try so hard every time to support Oxin Films and Regal Entertainment, but they make it so fucking hard. Holy shit. There’s only so far the boys being cute can carry a thin concept like this.

City of Stars is Better Than I Expected (2/12)

I am catching up on this show. The acting isn’t great, but I’m really enjoying a lot of what’s happening here. I will report back when I finish.

See Your Love is Fun But Kinda Weird (7/13)

The visuals are great in this show, and the leads are filling in the aesthetic gap left behind by Jimmy and Tommy in a way that really works for me. There’s been way too many pratfalls in the last two episodes. We are at 1.5 pratfalls per episode at this point. The side couple is absolutely ridiculous. I’m having fun.

Caged Again is Becoming a Favorite (4/10)

Junior is the best protagonist of the year. I’m obsessed with this penguin boy. I love the way this show uses its supernatural elements to drive its storytelling forward, even if I think the plot got a little silly in episode 4. The friend group dynamics are so fun, and I haven’t enjoyed a group of Thai boys this much since Knock Knock, Boys! (no surprise, two of them are in this show, too).

Your Sky is a Weekly Delight (3/12)

The 2gether rewrite show is great, and I will be reading no commentary to the contrary. These boys are so great, and they are one of the best couples of the year. This show is doing fake dating in a way that’s just so excellent, because it’s real dating! The boys are genuinely trying to get know each other so they can pretend to be a better fake couple. This is so close to being excellent meta commentary about dating in the digital age, and how so much of dating for the current generation is about how others perceive the validity of your relationship. It’s actually so fun to watch a show where the characters are doing all the things you’re supposed to do when you’re trying to build something with someone, but one of them doesn’t fully understand what they’ve gotten into. This show is great, and I love it.

Love in the Air: Koi no Yokan is so Slick (5/10)

If there’s one thing a Japanese drama is going to get right it’s trauma! This show delivered on Kai’s horrors in a way that was so visceral that I needed to pause and catch a breath. I remain obsessed with the casting of Nagatsuma Reo as Kai, because he’s taller than Suzuki Asahi sometimes. I really love that they didn’t give us the BL height difference trope, and I like that they didn’t style Kai in a way to make him look more feminine. There’s a egalitarian physical balance between Fuma and Kai that I find extremely refreshing, considering the massive class, wealth, and suffering gap between the two characters. It’s no surprise that we’ve had a dearth of gifs of their sex scene, considering it doesn’t play to the kind of asymmetric aesthetics that folks seem enjoy in their pairings.

As always, the Rei and Kai friendship remains one of the best parts of this story, and I like the way this version of Sky talks to this version of Rain about the queer stuff. He feels like he’s being careful with his friend, and not just ghosting him on important conversations about his friend’s sexual awakening (one of my major gripes with the original Thai adaptation).

Our Youth is Taking Over My Brain (4/11)

I have not moved on from the “Infect me” line, and I am still obsessed with the plausible deniability of the “no homo” that Hirukawa relies upon as he continues to pursue Minase. Now that Minase has reached his breaking point, I’m so looking forward to seeing where we go next. We’re due for a major separation, and I’m ready for a Japanese BL to not fuck up a second chance romance attempt this time. Perhaps adapting Korean work could the solution?

Spare Me Your Mercy is a Welcome Return to the Sammon Feeling I Enjoy (1/10)

I just really love when Sammon shows feel like the mystery matters more than the romance, and this feels like it’s in the correct space. I loved the initial setup, and the potential for there to be multiple murderers. I really hope that they start killing younger people in this show, because they said there were only 40 palliative care patients, and we downed three of them in the first episode. I’m so happy to see JJ again, and Tor looks great. I am looking forward to the weekly watch and theorizing with this show. Most importantly, I’m looking forward to the complex meditation on euthanasia, which this story feels like it’s taking seriously.

Love is Like a Poison Finally has Given Us a BL Battle Couple Again (11/12)

We haven’t had a BL battle couple in what feels like forever. I love that this show continues to reward us for believing in Haruto and Shiba. Haruto’s dad is the absolute worst, and I really want him to lose. I love Shiba, and I love that the show continues to give him some of the visual tropes of a legal drama (like the pan up near the end). I’m in love with this show, and it’s going to be one of my favorites of the year, I’m sure.

Fragrance You Inherit Hurts Me Because Everyone is Doing The Right Thing (4/8)

This show is actually so painful sometimes, because no one is doing anything wrong. Everyone is being as emotionally honest as they can be with everyone they speak to about all of the things that are going on. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with Sakura choosing to let go of her lingering crush on Mone now that they’re both moms and their kids are dating. Besides, we presume that Mone is still married! The conversation with On-chan makes me think that Mone misunderstood the relationship Sakura had with him in college (My man is ace but not aro! We love to see it).

I just really love that everyone is trying to do right by everyone around them, and I think all of the things that remain unspoken in this show have been withheld for completely valid reasons. There are no villains in this story, and that makes it even harder to watch really kind people treat each other politely in every scene. I’m just feeling a quiet scream in me the entire time I watch a good son by a thoughtful gift for his loving mother with the help of his supportive and lovely girlfriend, as he prepares a surprise from the old friend who clearly still cares about her friend and the unrequited/unexpressed feelings between them. This show is incredible. Go watch it right now. Thank you again to @isaksbestpillow.

Conclusion

That’s more shows than I’ve been watching in a while. It’s nice to have some Thai shows back in my rotation that I’m actually enjoying. I really want the Chinese to now fuck up their endings, but it seems like 2024 will not be that year. I’ll try to check in with the end of Love is Like a Poison when the Netflix release schedule completes so folks can binge it then. In the mean time, let me know what you’re enjoying, and what else I should consider picking up.

I decided to give them to Overhaul! and they fit in his arms so perfectly I made it canon that he has sharks.

they rarely show it off and tend to use camera angles and posture (hughie boi i see you constantly slouching--LOOK AT HIM~<3<3<3 just casually *unintentionally* making butcher appear is *actual size*--) to play up or downplay/switch up height differences, but i kinda love that hughie went from being the second shortest member (comics) of the boys to the literal tallest<3 (butcher was generally in the middle with homie just casually being a head taller than him--, frenchie and mm being the taller guys on the team, love sausage of course being the biggest guy when there~<3<3<3 he still is btw--)

I meant to post fanfiction, but I started late and couldn’t finish on time. Plus the fic got some angsty shit going on, and I refuse to soil this day with that 😤

Today I spam and ramble 😌

Many of us (by which I mean me, ESPECIALLY ME) fantasize/glorify/fetishize twin relationships, but I have seen twin siblings saying that “it’s not a magical thing, anyone could have that type of deep bond with another person”. The intensity is what sets it apart from the rest, and it could range from the most sickening possessive hate-filled control, to the most detached accepting and nourishing love, passing through the clingiest and most crippling forms of codependency.

I got my own obsessive and ridiculously exaggerated bias about the Figaro twins, but I have seen several playthroughs where they stand out to the player as “the representation of brotherly love”. Even before getting the brothers’ cutscenes (in some cases the players happen to miss the coin scene and/or the reveal at the airship).

People this is brutal, don't do this 😭💔

But it’s always clear that there’s genuine love there.

The word "love" is often misused and abused. When I use it to talk about the Figaro twins’ relationship, I mean unconditional love, as in:

No strings attached

No expectations or demands

No judgment or condemnation

No impositions

No control

Accepting without enabling

Generous without creating dependence

Respectful

Peaceful and calming, because of all of the above

In past posts I mentioned Edgar’s controlling and condescending actions, and also his very codependent nature. Also Sabin’s departure can be interpreted as selfish. Before I backtrack elaborate on that, I think it’s important to suspend disbelief approach the subject of love with the knowledge that each and everyone of us is imperfect, but perfect love is always achievable and within reach. Our deficiencies make it painful, but not impossible.

Let’s get to it!

Edgar taking over as king is the most obvious loving act, because it’s scripted, but the depth of it is revealed in such a subtle and missable way, that forces the viewer to pay attention and to think harder about what we’ve learned about the brothers up to that point. It’s shown in a modest way, as modest as Edgar has been about the action itself. Love does not need praise or recognition, it is its own reward.

Was this condescending? It’s debatable.

Is it condescending to use simpler vocabulary when you speak to a small child? Stepping down from where you’re at to meet the other at their level is respect, not condescendence. To think yourself above the other because of some advantage you have, is condescendence.

Someone described the rigged coin deal as “Edgar letting his brother abandon familial duty while saving face”, and I believe this is a misunderstanding. Sabin doesn’t need to “save face” and Edgar doesn’t see it that way. Sabin was going to leave no matter what, and Edgar was going to stay no matter what. The coin didn’t decide for them, and neither did Edgar. Edgar’s words say it all: the coin meant to free Sabin of guilt, not of duty. Even if Ed breaks his own heart with the outcome.

An even more modest and almost always overlooked act of love (even in real life) happens when the brothers have a little moment alone while mourning their deceased father. Sabin is lashing out at everyone, he even pushes an old lady (the High Priestess) and unfairly accuses her of being as heartless as the Figaro politicians. Again we see Edgar being very tactful and just allowing Sabin to let it all out.

When one gets emotional and others start with the “don’t cry”, “it’s all for the best”, joke-to-make-you-laugh-because-your-pain-makes-ME-uncomfortable... This is all toxic positivity. It’s very refreshing to see that mah bois don’t do this to each other.

There’s even more missable stuff here. In this moment when Sabin cannot contain his rage, is that Edgar tells him pretty much that the politicians are right: the kingdom needs to be looked after. Now this would be a perfect trigger to Sabin, but instead he’s disappointed (of the outcome, not of Edgar). He doesn’t yell nor tries to convince him. Attempting to persuade would be to disregard and disrespect the other's concerns (this goes both ways). At his lowest and most volatile, Sabin is still capable of fully accepting Edgar. In this moment he couldn’t disagree more with Edgar’s views, but chooses to respect him and to still follow through with his own decision, even if it breaks his own heart.

When Edgar makes the proposal, Sabin lowers his head and won’t even look at him or the coin. It's not the bet what matters, he’s just sad Edgar won't join him (we know Sabin doesn’t judge Edgar, and is very proud of him as king and as a person).

Would it have been better if Edgar was sincere? No way to know, but the kingdom was in urgent need of leadership. 10 years later Sabin is still carrying guilt, and we know this because he’s the one to bring up the subject at the end. No one blamed him, not one questioned him and yet he needed to speak up about it for some reason.

Edgar was right in assuming that Sabin would be troubled, and hoped that a little nudge would help him trust his own instincts. But regarding the condescendence part, I think what messed with Sabin was that Edgar kept to himself for a bit too long, making Sabin feel left out 🥺 And I see this as an innocent miscalculation on Edgar’s part. He’s good at reading people, but not infallible.

Is it condescending to use non-technical vocabulary to explain physics to a child? Not at all, unless that child happens to be Michio Kaku, who built a particle accelerator in his parents' garage.

As children the twins spent a lot of time apart due to Sabin being constantly ill and bedridden. By circumstance Edgar would observe and learn things around the castle that Sabin could not. Sabin would necessarily be at a disadvantage in his ability to understand political games. In shielding Sabin, Edgar is giving him the chance to assimilate reality at his own pace, even if it gets lonely for Edgar.

But 10 years later they’re back together, and Edgar doesn’t really know the person Sabin has become (I'm more inclined to think they maintained little to no communication, the only part I have not pulled an explanation out of my ass cannot justify is how casual they are when meeting again at Mount Kolts), so Edgar still treats his brother as he always did, only now trusting that he’s big and strong and healthy and can take care of himself… But he’s not aware of Sabin's growth as a person (and to be fair, Sabin clearly has some more growing up to do). Edgar keeps to himself because he wants to prevent Sabin from returning to Figaro out of guilt, he wants Sabin to have his freedom always. This is where he miscalculates, because he never knew where Sabin was coming from:

Sabin didn’t want to be away from Figaro, he wanted to define his own individuality without their influence

He never intended to stay away for good, he intended to come back and contribute in his own way

He didn’t join the Returners just because there was an emergency, he joined because now he knew the part he could play in the big picture

As mature as Edgar is, he’s a bit damaged and never really gave himself the chance to prioritize his own needs, it might even be a blindspot. The skirt-chasing seems to be the only thing he does for the pure pleasure of it, but even that ended up turning into work, at least once. This is why I said in a previous post that it would take patience on Sabin’s part to get close to him again. Because for Edgar to feel assured that Sabin came back of his own free will, it would require a clear and repeated pattern where

Sabin demonstrates that he sees the castle as home and does not feel aversion towards it

Sabin comes back during times of peace, when there’s no emergency and no threats to deal with, he comes back and stays because he wants to, not because he has to

Sabin shows genuine interest in government matters. Otherwise Edgar would not burden him with any of it

Sabin stays as carefree and joyful as always. That’s all Ed wants for his little bro, whom he thinks he still needs to protect (again, nothing but an error in judgment)

And only then would Edgar maybe possibly perhaps probably consider sharing more of his concerns allow himself to rely on Sabin Sabin to shoulder some of the burdens 🫠🫠🫠🫠

From what my biased ass infers, I think Sabin is doing all of that, to extent of his possibilities. It’s hard to love someone who’s so guarded. Yet Sabin is doing exactly that. It’s not just about getting Edgar to reciprocate and grow out of his ways. In staying close while demonstrating confidence, Sabin is allowing Edgar the chance to assimilate the new reality at his own pace, even if it’s lonely for Sabin, because if he pushes, this might turn Edgar too self-conscious.

Love is not for the weak, and mah precious Figaro twins are fucking powerhouses 😤❤️💪🏼👑🐻

With their coffee orders securely in hand, Tobias stepped into the vestibule of his townhome, careful to make sure ‘Hurricane Samantha’ wasn’t underfoot. A year ago, he and Casey wondered what it would be like when she began to walk and talk; now they knew it only added to the joyful chaos they had come to know and love. It was as familiar as the warm vanilla cinnamon scent that had filled the air ever since Casey moved in and as welcoming as his wife’s loving embrace or his daughter’s smile at the end of the day.

He smiled as he placed the snowflake bedecked cups on their dining room table. The last four years of his life bore no resemblance to the thirty-six that had preceded it, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

He was pulled from his thoughts when he heard his brother's desperate pleas from the next room. He was doing his best to keep Samantha occupied, but she was quicker than he thought, and the bowl of red, silver, and green-wrapped Hershey kisses was too tempting. As the toddler's tiny hand reached up to grab the bowl, Jordan started to unravel.

“No, Sammy! No! I know Mommy and Daddy don't want you on a sugar high while before taking your Christmas pictures!”

But Samantha was undeterred.  “Yum-YUMS!” She yelled. The bowl was about to topple on her just as Tobias lifted her from behind, placing her high atop his shoulders in one swoop.

“Uncle Jordan’s right, pumpkin. Let’s save the sugaring up for after, OK?”

“Wow!” Jordan was astonished. “You said I was right!”

Tobias shot his brother a smirk. “Yeah, well, even a broken clock is right twice a day! Where is Casey, anyway.”

“Upstairs, finishing her makeup.”

“Still?”

“She was all done,” Jordan shrugged. “But then Ma had... opinions... so she's upstairs touching up.”

“Oh, shit!” Tobias laughed. “Then we’re safer down here with this little firecracker.”

“My thoughts exactly.”

But Casey and Vivian were descending the stairs at that very moment, and Mrs. Carrick was all happy to interrupt her sons.

“Hate to disappoint you, boys. But we smelled that delicious coffee the moment you came in. There’s no keeping us away.”

“Gam-mah!” Samanta squirmed excitedly, throwing her arms her grandmother's way, and that's how Vivian instantly forgot about her coffee.

“Oh, come here, my little angel!" She cooed, retrieving her from Tobias's arms. "That’s right! Tell Daddy that Grandma’s here. His services are no longer needed!”

“Really?” Tobias sneered. “Because with all your complaints of wanting another grandchild, I think my services are most certainly needed.”

Bryce dropped his coffee cup to the table with a thud. His eyes rose to the ceiling as he let out a sigh. “I don't know if putting up with you two is worth the free coffee.”

“Maybe not,” Tobias said, pointing to a few bags on the table. “But there are also cookies from Parziale’s, and I’m ordering in Chinese after the photo. Would that make it worthwhile?” Bryce may have answered if he weren't too rushing for the cookies.

Tobias let out a slow whistle as he walked toward Casey, making a show of looking her over as he did.

“No mistletoe needed here!" Casey laughed. "You can just kiss me."

Tobias studied Casey's face, then kissed her forehead. “Not bad! Not bad at all!”

“Jordan told Vivian he didn't like it,” Casey smiled. “He wanted something a little edgier. That a little punk edge four our family Christmas portrait would go a long way.”

“And I made it clear that my foot would go a long way...” Vivian interjected. “A long way up his ass if he thought I would allow that to happen.”

“ASS!” Samantha hollered, and everyone but Vivian broke into a fit of laughter.

“See what you make me do!” Vivian scolded as she whisked Sammy into the living room. “Making me say bad words in front of my grandbaby.”

“There is a swear jar in the kitchen," Bryce noted.

“Yeah," Casey added. "Between all of us, her college education will be funded before she turns two.”

“Amen to that,” Tobias laughed.

“All right, guys, as fun as this is, do you think we can start taking the pictures?” Jordan requested. “I do have a date tonight.”

“Oh, do you?” Casey teased.

“Yep,” Jordan grinned, playfully smacking his brother. “Someone’s gotta keep the Carrick rep going since this one has gone all domestic.”

“That’s not our rep!” Vivian shouted. “You’re not getting any younger either, Jordan! Who is this person? Do I know them?"

"I think I know him," Casey winked. "Make it quick; Vivian is itching to plan another wedding!"

“Oh! Trust!” Tobias laughed heartily. “Trust! She is!”  

“All fun aside," Casey segued. " We should start the photos before it gets too close to Sammy’s naptime.”

“Yeah, we want to do it before my naptime, too,” Bryce added.

“You’re not in the photo,” Tobias reminded. “You can go nap now if you want."

“You know, I’m still insulted by that," Bryce complained. "Why am I not in the family photo?”

“Because you’re not their stepson, no matter how much you may act like it," Vivian advised. "Now, if you want a family portrait, I suggest you get mar...”

“Annnnd on that note, it's photo time!" Jordan grinned.

“Sammy, come here, baby,” Casey beamed as her giggling little toddler wobbled over to her. “Let Mommy fix your sweater so we are all pretty for our picture!”

“I’ll admit,” Vivian observed. “Those sweaters wouldn't have been my first pick, but they're definitely you two! They will make an adorable family Christmas card.”

Casey stopped what she was doing, exhaling as she snuggled under her husband’s arm. “Family Christmas card... our second already. Can you believe it?”

“Oh, do I hear disappointment there?” Tobias teased.

“Not even a little. But sometimes, I’m still astonished. How did we end up here?”

“Do I really have to explain how this came to be, Mrs. Carrick,” Tobias winked. "See, when a man and a woman fall in love, sometimes, they do this thing together...."

“OK, No!" Jordan insisted. “I don’t need to hear about how Sammy was conceived.”

“No, we don’t,” Vivian agreed. “But I do need you two to keep at it - in private! Because I sure would love a second grandbaby on next year’s card.”

“I think that’s her way of offering to babysit for us tonight,” Casey winked.

so this is my story, so in this au there is humans and non humans,, the humans dont get along well with the non-humans, the humans hatred and torture of non-humans by humans is often due to a fear and perceived threat. In some cases, humans see non humans as a threat to their way of life and power, and believe that eliminating or dominating them is necessary to maintain their own safety and security. In other cases, humans may have a history of conflict with non humans, which has led to a deep-seated hatred and desire for revenge... Then the greedy humans came and there life n power and more,, They wanted to have it all for themselves. They attacked, not even caring what they were doing was wrong. The humans attacked homes, and families. The fighting went on for years, and the once peaceful land was filled with bloodshed. And the once proud non humans were left helpless... So after all the war stuff, The humans looked down upon the non humans with both cruelty and prejudice. They saw them as lesser beings, unworthy of respect or compassion. They exploited their labor and resources, often treating them worse than any animal. The non humans were forced to live in poor conditions, with no rights or freedom. The humans saw them as nothing..

For humans that have human guards, there the main Humans that would attack the non humans when any of them appear on there sight, they would either kill/hurt them brutally or put them in non human jail

They have killed and hunted them for sport, kept them as slaves and used them: for scientific experiments, and pushed them onto reservations where they struggle to survive. Non-human races have also been stereotyped and treated as inferior to humans, often being depicted as ( monstrous or evil figures BUTTT luckily Nonhumans have used various methods to protect themselves and prevent harm from humans.

Some have the ability to disguise themselves as humans, allowing them to blend in and avoid detection.

Others have formed communities and secret locations, far away from human settlements. Some have also developed special powers and abilities to defend themselves when necessary...but for non humans that are powerless they hide there non-human features to blend in also like for an example: wearing a hat to hide demon horns or something, Another way non humans are protected is having overlords, Overlords in my story is good characters who use their power for the benefit of others and to protect their people (the overlords in my story is: william, Vincent, lisa, manuel issac/incubus (his real name is issac but people also calls him incubus??, even tho hes not a real incubus demon...idk but i will explain it another time..) miguel (hes a fake Overlord but i will explain his part of the lore why another time) But In order to become an overlord, a character typically needs to have significant power, usually derived from sources such as leadership, wealth, or supernatural abilities. They may also have a strong and ruthless personality, willing to do whatever it takes to reach the top and maintain their power. And also u have to fight one of the people that are already iverlords,, if you succeed, ur an overlord. Other characters may follow and support them. Ok so The overlords protect non humans by using their strength, power, and resources. They do use their power to defend against certain attacks and they may provide support and refuge for those who need it. In some cases, overlords may also use their intelligence and cunning to outwit and outsmart humans, preventing them from causing further harm. Overall, the specific methods used by overlords to protect non humans....

But sadly overlords may have a specific weakness (unless any overlord is special enough to not have one for sum reason LOLLL) to a particular magic or weapon, or they may also have emotionally or psyically weaknesses, such as arrogance or a lack of empathy, that can be used against them...

Schoolmates

The schoolhouse was abuzz with activity. Childrens’ chatter filled the room in a cacophony of noise, eager to get their jitters out before class began. And with the news of a new student joining the fray, the energy was electric with excitement.

Bingo hated it.

She sat towards the front of her class, her senses being assaulted by the sheer amount of noises and smells bouncing throughout the room. The Lillipup rhythmically shifted her front paws back and forth, uncomfortably aware of everything all at once.

Including the two pairs of eyes digging into the back of her head from across the room.

Well. One and a half.

“Ya see da new kid ova’ dere?” one tiny voice squeaked.

“Ah see ‘em all right,” an near identical voice responded. “Saw ‘er walkin’ ‘round town wit’ a bowie strapped to ‘er shoulder.”

“A nice one?” 

“Reaaaal nice.”

Two chairs simultaneously scraped against the wooden floor as they were pushed out, sending an immediate wave of pure, utter silence throughout the room. In fact, it was now so quiet that the sound of two pairs of tiny paws pitter-pattering against the floor could be heard from the entire room. The footsteps drew closer and closer towards the front of the class until they stopped right in front of Bingo’s desk.

Two Tandemaus stood before her with an eerie, unblinking gaze. Both mice had a heavy gold earring on one ear and a bite taken out of the other. They had heart-shaped tattoos on opposite shoulders: one with “Ma” and one with “Pa”. Spiked brass knuckles gripped in their hands. The two mice looked near identical.

That is, if you ignored the eyepatch covering the scar that traveled down one of their faces.

The one on the right, with two eyes, pointed a finger at Bingo. “You think yer hot shit?”

The Lillipup tilted her head with a puzzled look, “Pardon?”

“Saw that knife ya had on ya earlier,” the other puffed out his chest. “Custom-made n’ everythin’. Must’a cost a pretty penny, didn’t it?”

“Not really…?” Bingo shrugged. Mister Cornelius had given Mister Lucario a pretty hefty discount for it.

The two Tandemaus looked at one another, then back at Bingo. The rightmost mouse spoke up, “Gotdamn, you shit gold or somethin’?”

“Must be one them fancy-pants kids from the coast,” the leftmost sniffed. “Ain’t no one out west got pockets that deep.”

The two leapt up onto Bingo’s desk, suddenly eye level with her. “Let’s see how deep them pockets run.”

“No.” Bingo deadpanned.

Two small hands suddenly grabbed Bingo by her bandana, yanking her forwards and slamming her chin on the table. The Tandemaus with two eyes placed her hands on the top of Bingo’s snout and leaned forwards, trapping her mouth shut. “Right, I fergot yer new ‘round these parts, huh?” she sneered down at the Lillipup. “Mah name is Terri wit’ an I, and this here’s mah brother, Terrii wit’ two I’s.”

“Yessir,” said Terrii the one-eyed mouse. “Our ma n’ pa are the scariest criminals in Little Town.”

“So you best empty them pockets real quick,” Terri jabbed Bingo on her forehead.

Terrii grabbed at the fur on Bingo’s face, “Unless ya wanna find out what a Lillipup looks like without its face fuzz.”

“I don’t got pockets.” She grumbled.

“Oh, yer a real smartass, huh?” Terri straightened her back and stepped onto Bingo’s snout. “Then maybe I oughta knock some sense into ya!” She winds up her fist as she steps closer to Bingo’s face, looking her in the eye.

But one of the other kids, a baby Kangaskhan with a lisp, pipes up.

“Ya thouldn’t threaten her! I thaw her comin’ into town yethterday with Lucario!” They cry, “And! And! And he didn’t drop her off with Mightyena!” The Cubone next to her nods in agreement.

“Yea! Her daddy’s Lucario!” 

The Lillipup blinked. That wasn’t true. Lucario ain’t her daddy.

She opened her mouth to speak, “Wha–”

“Nuh uh!” Terrii said, squinting his eye at Kangaskhan. “Says who?”

“Yeah, dipshit!” Terri scowled with her brother, using Bingo’s forehead as an armrest. “Says who?”

Kangaskhan huffs and stomps their foot, “Thays me! And Cubone! I ain’t no liar! Lucario’th her daddy, I thwear it!” 

“Fer real?” someone else pipes up, slightly fearful.

Bingo attempted to speak up, “He ain’t–”

A Scraggy on the opposite side of Bingo pipes up, practically leaping in his seat. “Yea yea! My big brother— he! He! He’s friends wit’ Mister ‘Cario! And— and guess what? He says that Mister ‘Cario’s back in town n’ he brought a lil’ Lillipup wit’ him and he ain’t droppin’ her off!”

Beside him, another Scraggy, this one much yellower than the first, leaned over in his seat with a smug grin. “Yeah, and we all know who Mista Lucario is. So if I was you, I wouldn’t mess wit’ her unless youse guys wanna get yer shit rocked!”

The Tandemaus twins exchanged a glance with one another, then looked nervously at Bingo. 

Bingo stared unblinkingly back at them.

Slowly and silently, Terri and Terrii let go of Bingo and hopped off the desk, walking back to their seat as the whole class watched. Terri turned back and jutted a finger at Bingo. “You lucky Lucario’s yer daddy, Lillipoop,” and then continued walking.

The Lillipup mumbled to herself, “But he ain’t…”

A yellow blur suddenly popped into her vision— the Scraggy from earlier— taking her paw into his hand and shaking it vigorously in greeting. “HeynicetomeetchuI’mTysonandthisismybrotherRyanwowitmustbesocooltohaveMistaLucarioasyerdaddywhat’sitlike?”

Huhwha– Bingo shook her head softly, an awkward smile on her face, “‘m sorry, pardon?”

The other Scraggy, presumably Tyson’s brother Ryan, stepped in and whispered not-so-subtly, “I don’t think English is her first language.”

“Ohhhhh,” Tyson nodded. He turned back to Bingo and shouted, “HEY. NICE. TO. MEET. YOU. MY. NAME. IS. TYSON!” Tyson gestured to himself for emphasis. “TY-SON!”

Bingo recoiled, clasping her paws over her ears, “Loud…”

The Scraggy shook his head, “Not Loud, Tyson!” 

“Ty I think she wants you to use yer inside voice.”

“Oh.”

Her paws slowly fell from her ears with a relieved sigh, “Sorry… don’t really do well with loud. But it is nice to meet you, Tyson.” A lot of these kids just give out their names, huh?

“An’ I’m Ryan!” his brother beamed beside him. “What’s it like having Mister ‘Cario as yer daddy?” he asked with sparkling eyes. “Does he ever take ya to fight bad guys wit’ him?”

“Don’t think we really fight bad guys,” she tilted her head in thought, “But I‘ve been into a few dungeons and he’s been teachin’ me how to fight.” The Lillipup then shook her head, “But he ain’t my–”

“WOAH!!!” both Scraggies said in unison. 

Ryan hopped up and down on his heels, “Ya gotta show us what kinda moves he’s taught ya!”

“Yeah!” Tyson said. “Our brother Scrafty’s taught us some of his best moves—” He got into a fighting stance and started punching at the air to show her, “—but he don’t hold a candle to Mista Lucario!”

“Oh, I dunno… Maybe?” She looked off to the side, “I dunno how to really show what he’s been teachin’.. Dunno if he’ll allow me to have my Blast Seeds and use them willy-nilly.”

Ryan gasped and shouted, “YOU GOT BLA—” before Tyson slapped a hand over his brother’s mouth and exclaimed (slightly more quietly) “You get to use Blast Seeds?!”

Bingo startled for a moment, “Uh– Yeah? My moveset isn’t the most diverse yet.. So havin’ something to act as another move is useful.”

Tyson nodded sagely in contemplation. “Das smart…” He then suddenly recoiled his hand off of Ryan’s mouth with a disgusted face. “Ewwww!!! Did you just lick my hand??”

“Serves you right for shuttin’ me up!” Ryan stuck his tongue out.

“Oh, I’ll shut you up all right!” Tyson wound a fist at his brother, but then stopped mid-wind to look at Bingo. “By the way do you wanna hang out after school?”

“Uh.. sure? I don’t see why not as long Mister Lucario don’t need me for anything..” She responded.

“Yippee!” both brothers said in unison. 

And then Tyson punched his brother in the face.
