The Irrevocable Shift in American Politics: Reflections on Kamala Harris and Donald Trump
The End of an Era: Reflections on Kamala Harris and the Trump Presidency Kamala Harris may not have succeeded in her bid for the presidency, but one of her campaign slogans resonated profoundly even in defeat: âWeâre not going back!â This assertion, intended as a rallying cry against the status quo, has taken on an unintentional truth. The return of Donald Trump to the political forefrontâŚ

Democracy's Alter-Ego and the Self-Created Demons
Democracy Unveiled: Discover its Evolution, Challenges, and Future. A must-read for those intrigued by global politics and diplomacy. #Democracy #WesternHegemony #GlobalPolitics #HumanRights #FutureofDemocracy #Neocolonialism #Imperialism
Democracy has multiple definitions. It is derived from the Greek words âdemosâ and âkratosâ which mean âpeopleâ and âpowerâ respectively. Democracy is defined as a system of governance where power is vested in the people who rule either directly or through elected representatives. Some define democracy as a system of governance where all citizens have equal opportunities to shape governmentâŚ

I feel like both internet liberals and leftists have a tendency to reverse-Great Man Theory Ronald Reagan at the expense of any insight into the history of his policies or the conservative movement that led up to him.
#YOU CANâT JUST BLAME EVERYTHING ON HIM WITHOUT TACITLY ABSOLVING COUNTLESS OTHER MONSTERS AND THE WHOLE FUCKING SYSTEM OF ITS GUILT.#ITâS DEEPLY INDIVIDUALISTIC AND ARGUABLY ANTIHISTORICAL.#Anyway this is because I saw a post that blamed him for the US backing brutal regimes in the global south under the guise of anticommunism.#When that famously started back in the post-WWII era and has its roots in Monroe Doctrine ideology.#FYI I fucking hate him but heâs a part of a larger picture.#(Anyway I study American politics during the Cold War with a focus on the rise of the far right.)#original content#100#500#1k

Roger Delgado makes a brief appearance as an unnamed but helpful Argentine diplomat, in Overseas Press Club - Exclusive!: Two Against the Kremlin (1.13, ABPC, 1957)
#fave spotting#roger delgado#overseas press club exclusive!#two against the kremlin#delgado!master#classic doctor who#doctor who#abpc#1957#classic tv#a very pleasant surprise! i assumed i was all done with finding blorbos in OPCE but then up pops Rog for a little scene in the final episode#he's an embassy diplomatâ which was kind of his stock in trade role before he fell into villain work#not much variation in images bc he's only onscreen for about 30 seconds to give Ralph Bellamy's US newspaperman some tips on#getting his family out of Moscow. I've mentioned in other OPCE posts that the veracity of the 'true stories' told is difficult to pin down#Bellamy is playing journalist Eddy Gilbertâ a very real personâ and the details of his marriage to a Russian ballet dancerâ Tamaraâ and the#opposition they faced from Russian authorities is certainly true; their relationship was well known enough to have inspired a filmâ 1953's#Never Let Me Go starring Clark Gable as Gilmore and Gene Tierney as Tamara (albeit with names changed and some highly dramatic additions#to their story). how much is true of the rest of this tv ep is anyone's guess but it's certainly among the more believable#and there's nothing too objectionable (accounting for cold war era attitudesâ i mean)

i think a lot about the kind of meals benson cooks for himself and randy once theyâve been running long enough to settle down
#i think they spend a lot of time at campgrounds w fire pits and outdoor grills#a lot of cast iron breakfasts and soup heated up in the tin in embers#but once they get a shitty apartment with cold war era appliances. a oven. thatâs when the magic happens#cornbread soaked in milk w butter & honey. one pot stews. mashed potatoes w greens. malted milk w berries from the culvert out back#everything seasoned w dollar store spices and cooked in pots they stole from other campers and served on chipped plates from the goodwill#breaks my heart in two!!! but w joy. bc benson and randy lived happily ever after in my wonderful brain!!!!!!#text#my posts

hey, what happened to the left believing in second chances? what happened to the belief that if somebody's tangibly doing better, they deserve that chance? you guys realise how common problematic beliefs were when the internet was younger? like, when gamergate was a thing? not that long ago? you guys realise most people on the internet are not from the same moral background as you? you guys realise keeping people out who have changed their beliefs, is only going to discourage more people from doing better? are you guys crazy? why are y'all bringing moral purity into this? it's a powerful thing to recognise things you've been taught were wrong & to then move away from it, especially when you're in a community around it either irl or online. being in a community is such a powerful force in most people's lives. not everyone had the perfect background & not everyone had access to being as educated on social issues as you did. it's fine to personally not forgive someone's problematic history & not interact with them, but to actively exclude them from the cause? get off your high horse, you're harming the movement by gatekeeping it to those with a perfect moral background.
#this is in response to a post i saw on here a while ago#âhow do u even fall into those beliefs to begin with!!!â some people are raised by very shitty people next#yknow grifters who spread misinfo arent just talking into the void. they target a demographic that is ill-informed#idk i grew up in a household that never quite grew out of the cold war & when i was introduced to the internet when i was little#i was groomed by someone on the right & though i didn't hold any explicitly racist or homophobic beliefs or anything (mixed family household#& queer myself)#i was still problematic & stupid!#i know my Capitalist Era⢠ended when i was 13-14 & that's Young but idk a lotta people believe the wrong things bcs they're stupid#or never questioned influences growing up before it spirals out of control#if someone shows genuine change they deserve a chance. the very system we live in is one that tries to convince ppl it works & to keep ppl#from knowing its crimes. so yea if it's working as intended a lotta people aren't gonna have Flawless beliefs i'm sorry#i feel like a lotta people who'll just exclude anyone from the left if they have a problematic history they've grown from are younger & need#to work thru their own special kind of puritanism#you don't have to like someone but you're helping Nobody by excluding those who've changed & tryna rile up ppl against them

transcribing digital nightmare is like my pet project right now and so apparently spotify and apple music have the lyrics up but THOSE arent correct either bc i fucking swear to god even the official streaming services have the [?] included from music transcription sites. bro wtf!!
what's killing me is this specific line (which both apple music and spotify share the confusion). because the line is "now the disco's a battlefield." and that line appears earlier in the song!!! and the lyric transcription had gotten it correct the first time! like are you stupid?
#anyway they say that it's 'and now we're heating it up' but i hear 'i'm' not 'we're'#and no one has corrected me on genius yet so i am. inclined. to believe it's i'm#theyre also trying to say it says the twilight hours of the FIFTIETH century#which like - ok yeah futuristic stuff isnt out of the realm of possibility w twrp - but like#its dance floor cold war and i can only physically hear 20th so i thought it was like. literally the era of the cold war#and i literally cannot hear 50th and again no one has corrected it on genius. so like. i am again inclined to believe theyre jsut wrong#brot posts#music#twrp

interesting how a contagious and deadly virus coming on its third year has also coincided with the making of probably hundreds of podcasts about death
#just got an ad for Another true crime-esque podcast but this one was about last words said on deathbeds.. death plain and simple#its interesting taking art history rn actually and reading all of these articles about how in times of war and mass death artists were#trying to find their way to deal with it and how it came out so differently for everyone#its the same thing now#i drafted a post yesterday saying how we're living in the 60s again and with every new ad about some podcast that talks about death you#can tell they're frightened and traumatized (rightfully so)..#theres this big scary thing we're all surrounded by but no one talks about it because its too hard#the 60s was the vietnam war. it was the cold war. it was the mccarthy era. it was civil rights protests. it was the predecessing years for#the 'war on drugs' that got passed in 1970#and this era created some wacky art#and our era is creating wacky art#art is a reaction

hey! so it's been literally proven that russian agents have been actually doing this in the current moment. like the fact that this sounds a little silly to say is proof of how good they are. did everyone forget this?? it happened on tumblr!!!!
ik it doesn't make sense that another country would bother to do this without like invading them or declaring war or whatever but it's obvious putin's regime has trump in their pocket and that will materially benefit them!! alt right guys tried to infiltrate tumblr but they acted like stereotypes bc that's what they believe about other people. troll farmers don't give a shit and will just copy what legitimate activists are saying to gain cred and make inflammatory comments about wedge issues when they can. we have proof!!
the us did use these tactics in the 'war on terror' (as well as cold war conflicts obviously) and that wasn't a secret at the time, they were incredibly proud of it. the fbi was also forced to monitor 'antifa' by that man's administration and released a report saying all they found was twitter beef lol. that man has alienated the us intelligence community to the point that I kind of have to think they don't do assassinations anymore or he would've been shot for real. they have no interest in getting him elected because he is a national security threat.
like the fact is other countries have right wings too and they will sometime use the language of resisting us imperialism but that's not bc they hate imperialism. it's because they want to be the imperialists!!!! the us is not the ultimate bad in the same way it is not the ultimate good. that is just the flip side of american exceptionalism. we are not exceptional!!!! a lot of countries are as bad as us!!! I am honestly begging every leftist to internalize this!!! please!!!
#personal#people are getting better at being aware of issues in europe australia etc#but there are also bad people in the countries we are not allied with!!!#like the reality of post-cold war american foreign policy is that it is recklessly violent in its pursuit of bad actors#that aren't necessarily its problem to solve#it is not the same as cold war foreign policy#it has not been the 20th century for a long time now#stop using metrics and theory that were irrelevant before you were born!!!!!#you are being cointelproed by another country's right wing#and they are preying on your cold war era biases

Norms, Power, and the Western Delusions of Benevolence
Dive into a compelling critique of Western self-perception as benevolent powers in this insightful blog post. Uncover the complexities of cultural norms, political orders, and the often overlooked role of power in shaping these norms. #Norms #Power #West
Cultural norms shape the emergence and evolution of political orders. However, these norms are not static or homogeneous, but rather dynamic and diverse, reflecting the power relations among different actors in local and global contexts. Huntington (1996) argued that the clash of civilizations, or the cultural conflict between different regions and groups, is the main source of global instabilityâŚ

@prodigum said i haven't spoken to you in five years. - for nat from bucky (cold war era if u want!)
She knows. Natasha knows exactly how long itâs been since they last spoke to each other. She also knows that sheâs entirely unprepared for him to be here right now. She doesnât like being caught off guard. She isnât supposed to be caught off guard. But she is, just a little. She stares at him for a long moment. âWhat do you want, James?â The last time she saw him, they were fighting in Germany. She doesnât know what happened after that. She doesnât know where he went. She doesnât know how he found her, either. âAre you here to try to kill me again?â Heâll have to forgive her prickliness. Sheâs a little on edge.
#prodigum#muse â natasha romanoff#verse â canon#i will carry queue gently away#me who doesnât know the cold war era bc my marvel knowledge is the mcu: uhhhh#i figured post civil war could be good but lmk if you want me to change it!
